Chapter Fifteen: The Argument

Is this another chapter? Pour tu, de moi? Indeed, my dear readers, indeed. Also, I hope that last chapter hit different. Or at least was angsty enough. Anyways, on with this story and again, happy pride month!-😈

At this point, Roman was close to shriveling up and dying. Virgil was gone, Janus was gone, Remus was always busy running the rebellion. He was always alone, always endlessly lonely. Life is a meaningless pattern now, a constant cycle of wake up, work, sleep, repeat. There was nothing worthwhile to do, nothing worthwhile to be.

Everyday he went to work, always forced to see the love of his life with some other man, his employer. He never had a choice, always forced to smile for everyone else and toss sour looks at Logan Hart, who never rose to his bait, apparently miserable. Though why would he be? He had anything a person could want. Riches, a parent around, servants, a perfect home, Janus. All in all, his life was perfect.

Yes, Roman thought as he went up to his room to check on Logan Hart and Janus. Perfect.

"Logan," He shouted through the door, not caring that this was against propriety. So what if it was, Logan had never told him off anyway, the wimp. "It's Roman Prince," He practically hissed through the doorway.

"Come in," Logan said softly, his voice sounding a little rough. When Roman entered, flinging open the curtains, he was surprised to see Logan on the floor, cheeks red, and unable to attempt a smile. "I can handle myself, don't worry. Janus is in the bathroom," He whispered. "In case you wanted to know."

Roman snorted.

"Someone's in a bad mood."

Logan looked down miserably, voice far away.

"That's one way to put it Mr. Prince." Janus came out of the bathroom, not seeing roman at first. He didn't care. The snake betrayed him anyway, of course he didn't care when Janus didn't see him standing right in front of him, obviously upset.

"Logan are you alright? You didn't get any sleep last night and-" Janus stopped when he saw Roman, sadness fleeting across his face before jumping to neutral . "Oh."

"Good morning Mr. Hart," Roman said coldly, bowing with the sharpness of flint. "How may I help you?"

"Oh, Roman, its oka-"

"Call me Mr. Prince, why don't you?" Roman said with frigid politeness, the sadness from yesterday hardening to cold hard anger.

"Roman, I'm sorry-" Janus persisted.

"Excuse me, don't call me by my first name," Roman said coldly.

"Roman please," Janus begged. "Just listen to me."

"Why should I you scheming snake?" Roman spat. Both were ignoring Logan on the floor, who was pushing himself on to the bed.

"It's not my fault!"

"Liar!"

"Please stop," Logan mumbled. The quarreling couple ignored him, Roman glaring at Janus who looked upset and panicky, trying to defend himself and get Roman to see sense. Roman wasn't in the mood to get told off by the traitor who abandoned the rebellion, and, more importantly, abandoned him.

"You abandoned me Janus!" Roman snapped, tears in his eyes, bloodshot from hours of crying. "You have no idea what that feels like!" Janus placed an arm on his shoulder. "DON'T touch me!" Roman shoved him off angrily.

"I did it to protect you," Janus insisted. "I was trying to help you."

"Fantastic job then!" Roman snapped, rolling his eyes. At this point, they didn't care who or what heard them. It was only Roman and Janus, Janus and Roman, and their rage. Logan was starting to hyperventilate near them.

"Why must you be so frustrating!" Janus snapped.

"Maybe because you're an inconsiderate lying snake!" Roman spat.

"I had no choice!"

"You always have a choice JA-" Roman and Janus stopped suddenly when a scream of pain echoed in the room, sobs following after. It was Logan, clutching himself on the bed, whispering under his breath quickly, muttering and mumbling, trying to stabilize himself back to normal.

"Not happening not happening not happening, its fine fine fine, they'll stop soon and then it'll be over," Logan mumbles. Janus looked at Roman.

"Is this normal behavoir?"

"Wouldn't you know, you're his fiance aren't you?" The two started to bicker again, angry and not expressing what needed to be. Logan's panic continued, until the door opened and a man stepped in, a man with Logan's eyes. Janus inhaled sharply, but roman simply stared in confusion. The man exhaled.

"Take your argument somewhere else," he sighed.

"Who are you to tell me what to do?" Roman said stubbornly. Janus pulled at him. The man sighed.

"I'm his father, now take it elsewhere. Now." Roman stared at him as Janus dragged him out.

"Who the hell is that?" Roman snapped. "And how do yo uknow who he is?"

"That is Emile Hart, Patton Hart's husband, and as he so kindly informed you, is Logan Hart's father," Janus sighed. "As for how I know him, I had the distinct pleasure of attending a meal with the entire Hart family, which was an entirely pleasant affair."

Roman laughed a little, smiling. Janus's entire demeanor softened, as Roman's did, the pair happy to be together. It broke apart in seconds. Roman immediately went back to being cold.

"I still don't like you," he muttered. Janus sighed sadly, looking down.

"I know."
