Chapter 42: Manvi's Efforts
Ahana's POV
When I was brought home, I moved straight to my room. GuruMaa gave me medicine but I threw it away. No medicine can heal my inner wounds, I heard Manvi's voice. I sighed, why can't she let me stay in peace she herself broke the relation with me.
I stepped out and saw her hugging Mishti, I said in anger tone "Stop making fake promises"
She said "mumma" which I didn't want to hear from her mouth.
I slapped her face, she forced me to raise my hand on her. I had pampered her a lot in the past which I am paying off today.
"Do you even know the meaning of a mother?" I shouted at her, if she doesn't consider me as a mother then why is she insulting such a pure relationship.
"What did you say that day? Mister or miss Ahana.." I repeated her harsh disrespectful words which shattered my soul that day because she raised fingers on my identity.
"Ahana please! Doctor said not to stress yourself" Nisha spoke in concern towards me.
"No! What do you think of yourself haan? Tum kabhi bhi aaogi jaogi.. Tumhari marzi chalegi?" I confronted her.
"I am sorry mumma!" She apologized but this isn't enough. She didn't hurt me once but twice I am never going to forgive her.
"I don't need your apologies, you don't want to be called a transgender child right? Then why did you enter our premises? Get lost from here" I shouted pointing her finger towards the exit door.
She stared at me and tried to read my eyes, I maintained my strength and adamant behaviour. She held my hand but I jerked away stepping back as I don't any more of her nonsense.
"Please Manvi! I have learnt how to live without you.. Just go back to the orphanage where you will be at peace and so will I" I clarified before she could think that I needed her.
She said emotional words "when I have a mother and a family then why should I spend the rest of my life as an orphan?"
I thought in my mind, she is trying to manipulate me with her words but I am very well aware "I won't get manipulated by your words! Because I am not stupid like you! Please leave" I said.
She didn't move but crossed her arms around the chest "I won't! This house also belongs to me!"
"Excuse me! GuruMaa is the owner of the house" Priya said
"Oh really? But everyone has a share in the house and if I am not mistaken Ahana's share belongs to me" Manvi said leaving me in a state of shock.
All the while I thought she was here for me but no, she was here because she owns my share of this house and since she had turned eighteen I am no longer a guardian.
I shouted "that is why you are here! How mean Manvi! I thought you were here because of me"
"Whatever! I am going to stay here and no one can throw me out!" She said adamantly.
GuruMaa glanced at me and said "I told you Ahana! Not to transfer your share on Manvi's name but you didn't listen to me!"
Again this girl proved, she is not worthy of my love. I sighed and went inside the room, closing the door with a bang.
I lay down on the bed and a tear escaped down my eyes. I had never been so rude to her but she forced me to react rudely. The door opened and I closed my eyes, I could sense her kissing my forehead and speaking in teary eyes "I love you Mumma! And I won't go from here even if you kill me! I will come back as a ghost and annoy you"
I don't trust any of her words, like always she will hurt me and leave me suffering in her memories.
Third Person POV
Ahana had fallen asleep while Manvi remained sitting beside her holding her hand grip tightly. About after two hours Ahana opened her eyes, she sat up straight grabbing her forehead. It seemed her wound was paining, Manvi assumed she hasn't taken her medicine.
Manvi looked for the medicine bag and took out the pills from it. She poured the water into the glass and forwarded it towards her.
Ahana glanced at her and pushed her hand away. Manvi scolded her "you don't want to talk to me, it's fine but don't let it affect your health! Have it"
Ahana eyed her, she wanted to say something but her body didn't allow her to sit up due to the weakness she had both mentally and physically.
"Even to taunt me you need some energy," Manvi said coldly and forwarded the glass. Ahana held the glass without arguing with her further and ate the medicines.
After a few minutes, she was gaining her energy but Manvi didn't want her to give more stress so quietly moved out of the room.
She heard Ahana's murmur "huh! Just showing off how much she cares!"
Manvi smiled lightly and uttered "how stubborn! Afterall she is mannu's mother"
Ahana stepped out of the room, she saw everyone heading for a wedding function. She insists to follow but GuruMaa refuses as she just returned from the hospital.
"I am fine! It's been a long time since I hadn't gone with everyone because of some unknown person" She indirectly taunted Manvi.
"Ahana, please! I know Manvi was wrong, she is a kid and we shouldn't behave that way!" Sneha tried to explain.
"It's okay maasi.. I deserve this" Manvi replied, she pretended her words weren't hurting her by plastering a fake smile on her face.
Ahana moved out with everyone and Manvi followed as she was concerned about her health. The doctor had clearly advised her to rest but she doesn't listen, intentionally she is pushing herself to harshness to show Manvi's presence doesn't affect her anymore.
Manvi saw everyone dancing and she joined them as a child. She enjoyed dancing but Ahana always stopped her always because of social discrimination and nature. Manvi hoped Ahana would scold her but she wasn't even looking at her, this had disheartened Manvi but she didn't lose any hope.
Mishti was hungry but they weren't allowed to enter the dining area. Manvi took her there despite knowing the consequences. She glanced at the waiter who was staring at them with hatred.
"Hello! It's a human right to eat food.. Get that" Manvi warned him, he gave the food plate and Mishti happily had the food.
The manager saw them, he argued with Manvi and she gave him a firm reply. Mishti was pushed by the child which angered her. Manvi ended up slapping the boy "how dare you to push her??"
"Oh really! How dare you trans people enter the wedding and destroy the food!" the kid's mother shouted.
Manvi smiled sarcastically "oops I am so sorry! Now no one can have the food, because it had turned poisonous for you"
Manvi packed most of the food and smiled broadly "emm.. So delicious Thank you, aunty"
She ran out of the wedding hall along with Mishti with a great laugh. They reached back home, Manvi distributed the food to the trans children who thanked her and it gave a feeling of peace to her.
She turned and found Ahana standing there, Manvi glanced at her with a smile "Mumma this.."
"What?" Ahana screamed which made Manvi shiver.
"Listen Manvi.. We go to functions and give blessings so that we can survive in this world, but what you did today was so disrespectful" Ahana shouted..
"But mumma.. That boy pushed mishti.." Manvi tried to explain
Ahana confronted her "manvi.. You are not coming with us! I don't want everyone else to suffer because of you and in end I will be blamed for not raising you with proper values"
Manvi shook her head affirmatively and Ahana left for her room. Tears slipped down her eyes as she can't bear her harshness, her every action, words break her from inside. Nisha cleaned her eyes and smiled "she is concerned for you! That is why she said all that"
"I know Maasi.." Manvi replied.
Nisha took the remaining food from her and praised her "I love the way you replied to them! Next time they will think twice before insulting any transgender"
Manvi winked at her with a smile "sometimes I am too intelligent"
