Chapter 4: Calling Mumma

Ahana's POV

My friend Neha was handing Manvi to a couple in the wedding. I rushed and carefully snatched Manvi from her hand. I gave her a deadly glare and slapped her hard on her face. She gave me an unbelievable look.

"Ahana.." She said my name.

I shouted "what? How dare you give my child to some unknown people"

"Ahana, they are ready to adopt her and give her a better life than us" she said briefly.

I was not interested in listening to her. How can she hand over my child to someone without my permission? Who gave her the rights? I demanded answers from her.

Just then the woman spoke "you are transgender and a child needs a mother not you"

I sighed deeply, I gave a firm reply "so what? I am a human first and I guess god has gifted maternal love to everyone"

She looked at me and passed tantrum "so you are going to raise her like this? By bringing her to weddings, make her dance?"

I eyed at her and spoke "she is never going to be like us or people like you I will make her a human being who respect everyone equally"

Manvi started to cry, she was hungry. I walked off the wedding hall with teary eyes. I kissed her forehead and promised never to leave her alone, not even guidance of my own people.

I made her lay into the cradle, which I bought in the morning. I gave a light push to the cardle and soonish she fell asleep with movement as it was a swing for her. A smile curved my lips seeing her napping curdling the small soft toy which was adjusted beside her.

I left the room, closing the door as I knew she won't wake up for 2 hours. Neha approached me and I fumed in anger. I shouted "how dare you do that Neha?"

"Ahana, it was for her good don't forget she is from that world where we don't have respect one day she will disobey you and you will be shattered" she expressed her point of view.

I was thoughtful for a while, I denied the fact with full confidence and trust in my upbringing. I replied "never, she will only make me proud that I promise to you and everyone single person present in our society"

I rolled my eyes to every corner and they were staring at me. Those who were against me, gave me negative vibes while others smiled.

I warned them "if you all not with me, then don't even dare to touch my daughter otherwise I won't think before cursing you all"

GuruMaa stood in front of me and kept her hand on my shoulder. She smiled and spoke "Ahana, I am with you I promise from today no one will come in between you and Manvi"

I smiled with teary eyes and she kissed my forehead like a mother.

After about a few months, she fell really ill. I panicked, I rushed to the children care clinic. The doctor was surprised to see me.

She checked up Manvi and assured me "don't worry due to climate change her health affected"

I asked "will she be fine?"

"Yes, and you must bring her for vaccination regularly according to the dates" she spoke, giving me the vaccination card.

She asked "she is your child and I am not mistaken you are transgender right?"

I smiled and replied "no I am a mother"

I picked up Manvi and left the clinic after collecting her medicines.

4 months Later

It has been six months since I brought her to my world. I have been selflessly bonding with her showering all my love. I spent most of the time with her by bathing her, feeding her, putting her to sleep.

I was wondering, why is she not babbling anything? As far as I know, a child starts babbling at the age of six months. I was worried, tensed shall I take her to a doctor for a medical checkup?

I sighed, GuruMaa called me and I turned to leave.

But stopped when I heard a sound. Tears of happiness flowed down my eyes, I turned to the cradle and asked "kya kaha?"

"Ma.. ma" she babbled in her innocent babyish tone.

I picked her up in my arms and ran out of the room, I shouted "Neha, GuruMaa, Shrishti, Deepika"

Everyone rushed out of their respective room and some left their chorus to hear me. GuruMaa questioned tensely "What happened Ahana? Is she fine?"

I nodded in yes and replied "yes, she said ma ma"

She spoke her first words which were "ma". I was overwhelmed, Shrishti played the music and everyone danced. I danced along with them holding Manvi in my arms. The girl chuckled and I kissed her forehead.
