Chapter 35: Saving Her

Ahana's POV

Finally, the 7 hours of the journey came to a halt, I moved out of the station along with Sneha and Nisha. We met with other trans people, I dialled the same number but it wasn't reachable. After some time, I called again and the person picked up the phone.

"Hello.. Yea I am in Kolkata.. Where did you see Manvi?" I questioned but the person's reply left me shocked.

"Who Manvi?? it's a wrong number" he said and ended the call.

My heart skipped a beat, did I make a mistake by just coming to Kolkata on a phone call. We went to the Kolkata Transgender society.

Sneha said "Ahana.. What if that Arijit ran away and it was a prank call to divert us?"

I looked on, I hope this is not the reality. GuruMaa of this society said "don't worry.. We will find us, today there are about 20-30 weddings in Kolkata today I have already informed them about your daughter"

A smile appeared on my face hearing this, I have no hopes with police or other authorities. I can only trust my people, who don't differentiate and consider everyone equally.

My hopes to find her were shattering as all those ladies returning from the wedding were giving me a negative response. Maybe, it was a trick to keep me busy and waste my time. I sighed, just then a lady came running.

"GuruMaa.. There is a wedding at Kali Ghati, our people were stopped at the entrance" she informed.

This was surprising as no one stops us from blessing the groom and bride. Nisha said "I think we should go.. Might me Manvi is there" she assumed.

We left for the wedding. Within 45 minutes we reached there as there was heavy traffic. I stepped down and felt a presence around me. "Mannu..."

Sneha questioned, "what happened Ahana?"

"Mannu is here.. I can feel it" I said with my eyes turning watery. I cleaned them and went towards the entrance.

The guards stopped us and said "Sorry.. Only invited people are around to attend the wedding"

I glanced at him and shouted, "do you want our curse?"

"Whatever.. We have strict orders, we can't let you enter" he said. This confirmed my daughter was inside, I pushed him away and entered in. Someone attacked my head with a stick, I kept my hand on the wound and winched in pain "Aah.."

I turned and my people shouted "hey.. How dare you?"

"Get out" the men standing there with long wooden sticks in his hand ordered.

I spoke in a confident tone "I won't... my daughter is here and I am going to take her along"

Kutumb stepped out and shouted "she is not your daughter! Throw her out"

I moved towards her and gazed at her with fire in my eyes. I twisted her hand behind and whispered in her eyes "I am going to break your hand, that no doctor will be able to repair it.." I twisted it further and she winced in pain.

"Aah.. leave my hand" she begged but I was frustrated enough to kill her on the spot.

I left her hand, she looked at me with fear.

I moved further and Inder blocked my way. He said "I won't let you take our key of future..."

I gazed at him "shut up!! She is my daughter and no one can stop me today" I said

Inder denied "no..."

I pushed him and entered the hall shouting "mannu... "

There wasn't any response, I looked around it seemed like not one but many weddings happening around.

Everyone stared at me, I was just shocked to find the grooms. They all were above the 30s and everything happening here was illegal.

I lifted up the veil of the bride, she was in tears and about nineteen years old.

The goons tried to stop us, but we were strong enough to fight back. The trans women who were nearby had also joined us.

I shouted.. "Getaway.. Otherwise, I am going to curse each and everyone" but they didn't move an inch.

I snatched the stick from his hand and beat him up. Sneha had already called the police and arrived in 15 minutes, luckily GuruMaa knew the commissioner as she had helped him in hard times.

Everyone was arrested including the grooms.

The groom shouted "inder and kutumb I gave you lakhs of rupees.. You won't be spared"

I was just shocked hearing this. I looked at them with so much hatred.

The girls were taken too so that they could be sent home. One of them thanked me and said "thank you.. You are an angel"

I smiled and blessed her. My eyes were searching for Manvi, Nisha indicated towards the left. I moved and saw a girl sitting there under the veil. I could hear silent crying, tears escaped down my eyes and I lifted up the veil with trembling hands.

A smile curved up my lips with tears of happiness spearing all over my face. Finally, she was in front of me, whom I had died hundreds of times every day. She looked at me with tears of guilt and pain. I could clearly see in her eyes how much she missed me.

I pulled her into a hug, she wrapped her arms around my neck and started to sob like a child. I caressed her head, assuring her I am here no one can harm her. After some time, I didn't hear any sound from her. I broke the hug and found her unconscious.

I took her back to the community along with others. I wanted to take her back to Mumbai but the Child organisation people didn't let me. They thought I was the one who brought her here. I said "no.. listen she is my daughter"

"How can she be your daughter?" The lady questioned.

Kutumb and Inder were present with a smile on their faces. "Mam.. this is her birth certificate. She is our daughter" they gave her the papers.

"But I have raised her.." I shouted.

"Do you have the adoption papers?" the lady inquired.

I denied it when Manvi left with these creepy people. She took all the documents with her and those adoption papers must have been burned by them.

"Sorry.. But the child has to go with her parents" the lady said.

Nisha denied "you can't take her.. Because these people were forcefully getting her married that too for money and I have the adoption papers"

She took out her phone and showed the adoption papers to them. I was amazed how she managed to have it. Sneha replied, "from college.."

A smile appeared on my face. I told the lady the whole matter, how she was manipulated and brought her. She said "it's hard to believe you.. I will wait for Manvi to give us an answer"

I was tense, she looked so frightened. What if she lies out of fear? I took a deep breath, I glanced at Manvi who was lying down on the bed unconscious.

I called GuruMaa and told her Manvi is found but with another problem. She smiled and said "Ahana.. Have faith in God, everything will be fine"

"I hope so Maa.. I just can't bear anymore separation from my daughter" I said, getting emotional.

"You won't Ahana.." she replied.

Everyone was waiting for her to open her eyes, Kutumb said "What if this Ahana had already scared her? And she lies?"

The lady spoke "I will only talk to her.. Everyone, please wait outside"

We all moved out, Sneha wanted to confront her parents but I signalled her to be quiet as any action could go against us.

Manvi had regained her consciousness, the lady spoke to her but she was staring at the wall. She finally broke her silence and spoke. I couldn't hear anything as she sounded very low.

The door opened and the lady named Sushma stepped out. She glanced at us and informed Manvi's decision leaving me totally shocked.

At last Ahana found her.

What did Manvi said?
