Chapter 31: The Phone Call

Author's POV

It has been two days since Manvi had left, most of the transwomen were deeply saddened by the sudden departure of her.

Mishti is the youngest girl in the house who used to play with Manvi and sometimes part of her mischiefs. She ran to Sneha and hugged her "I miss Mannu Di.. why did she leave me?"

"Because she is from a different world than us! These people don't deserve our love and care" Nisha replied.

Sneha looked at her and said "Please Nisha! Ahana had raised her, who respects everyone it is just she got manipulated by those creepy people"

"Oh really? Is she a 10 years old kid that someone will easily manipulate her and take her away" Nisha shouted.

Sneha still took Manvi's stand and said "yes.. If you had to hear whole your life "transgender daughter" and someone enters your life starts to care for you, love you? Won't you trust that person?? Think Nisha"

"Just shut up Sneha! Manvi insulted all of us.. " Nisha said, while others agreed to her, it seemed like everyone went against her.

Ahana finally opened the door and stepped out of the room, she saw everyone arguing over the matter.

"Shut up! Enough if Manvi is happy staying with her real family then I have no issues.. Because for me her happiness matters the most please stop discussing this" Ahana yelled on top of her voice.

Gurumaa moved to her and looked at her. Ahana smiled and said in calmed tone "Trust me, I am perfectly fine"

She kissed Ahana's forehead and everyone got to their work.

Ahana began to go to school but the charm faded. She had plastered a fake smile on her face, hiding her pain from everyone. She missed Manvi every day, especially in the room which she had decorated according to Manvi's taste.

Nisha locked the room when Ahana was out for some work. She returned and was shocked with this, Ahana questioned her "Why did you lock the room?"

"Because I can't let you suffer because of that girl" Nisha replied firmly.

"Give me the keys!" Ahana shouted but Nisha didn't listen.

"No.. I knew since the day you brought her here, one day this girl will destroy you mentally and that has happened!" Nisha said in a concern.

"You always had issues with Manvi and me.. If you hadn't hated her she wouldn't have ever left me alone" Ahana confronted her.

"I never hated her, I was jealous of her because you got the chance to become a mother which we are not blessed with.. I tried my best to part you away from her but this just made your bond stronger in years. It's just my way of loving is different from others" Nisha revealed.

Ahana was left amazed hearing her. Ahana smiled sarcastically "now.. She is not here to call me "mumma" so I am back to where I was 18 years back.. Let's go and attend a function"

Nisha asked, "and what about your job?"

"Oh.. you are asking about it??" Ahana looked at her, raising her eyebrow.

"Come on Ahana.. It's natural to get jealous. We are humans too! You are doing a respectable teacher job in a school which not every trans woman is blessed with" Nisha said with a light smile on her face.

"Right! And I have to even settle Manvi's education loans" Ahana replied.

"No.. you will not do that! Let her parents do it, she is not your responsibility now" Gurumaa entered the conversation.

Ahana and Nisha looked at her, Ahana said.. "Maa.."

"Enough Ahana! You know I am not wrong.. Tomorrow morning you will go to the bank and transfer the loan to her parents" Gurumaa declared and went to her room. She is hurt with Manvi's words too, after all, she also loved her and cared for her.

Ahana also doesn't want to go against anyone now.

Ahana's POV

It has been two months since Manvi had left the house. I had missed her every single day, I just wanted to hear her voice for once but the number was not reachable. It seems like she had changed it, she had disconnected herself from me completely as if I never existed in her life.

It's true my identity was the reason for her pain in school but I wasn't aware that in college too she was troubled. If she had shared her problems with me, I had sorted it out. I was confident, something must have happened in college that she became rude towards me and others but I neglected it.

She didn't even tell me about her friend Arijit. She is also not wrong, everyone has a limit and once the limit is crossed the person can't control emotions and showers the anger. Manvi is still immature and it was easy for her to react in such a way.

It was hard for me to live without her, I moved out of the room and shouted "mannu.. Have lunch"

Everyone glanced at me, and I realised the reality she isn't with me anymore. I just smiled at them and moved out of the house.

I sat inside the auto and reached the bank within half an hour. I met the manager and informed him about transferring the loan to someone.

The bank manager replied "sorry Ahana we can't do that, you have to settle the payments every month"

I sighed, I requested him but he denied it as there is no such option for that unless I say Manvi is responsible enough to clear the loan. She can't take care of herself, how will she pay the loan? I just left the bank and decided to keep paying as I don't want any negligence in her studies. She might not consider me as her mother but I will still fulfil my duties.

I received a call, I took out my phone from the bag and answered it.

"Miss Ahana?" the person asked

"Yes.." I replied.

"I am from imperial college, Mr Mehra" he introduced.

That's Manvi's college, I asked "yes.. Mr. Mehra.. Is Manvi okay?"

"Your daughter is not attending any of the lecturers. It has been a month, we have even sent her the emails but there was no response so we are withdrawing her" he informed leaving me shocked.

"What??" I uttered..

"Sir.. listen to me.. Sorry she isn't attending college?" I questioned him.

"You don't know? That is kind of strange but that is true.." he said and disconnected the call leaving me totally bewildered.

I panicked hearing this, why isn't she attending college? Is she in some kind of danger? I took a deep breath and headed back home.

I can't even discuss this with anyone as nobody wants to even hear her name. But what if she is in trouble?

"Yes.. I will be happier with them!" I recalled her last words.

I sighed and took a deep breath, someone touched my shoulder. I looked and it was Gurumaa..

She tried to read my expressions and asked "Why you seemed to be reckless Ahana?"

I denied.. "Nothing maa.. Where is everyone?" I asked.

"They have gone to attend a wedding.." she replied. I smiled at her and moved into the room still thinking about the phone call.

To be continued...

Why she didn't attend lecturers?

Will Ahana find out?

Stay tuned..
