Chapter 15: Moments
Ahana's POV
The room was scattered, her books were lying on the floor. The blanket was on the floor, I sighed "ye ladki nahi sudhregi (this girl will never change)".
I arranged the things back to the place, I kept back the books on her study table. Our picture was placed at the side, I smiled as it was clicked in the circus last year.
I went to the bed and picked up the blanket. I folded it and kept in bed, I then sat down and kept my hand on her head "mannu.."
She shifted her head to my lap and wrapped her arms around my waist. This is her childhood habit, which I love the most. I said, "wake up.."
She denied "no school"
Her never-ending excuses for escaping from school. She was now a 15 years old teenager but her nuisance was intact.
I scolded her "wake up.. Enough of your drama"
She sat up straight and made a crying face "you don't love me anymore"
I sighed and slapped her head from behind "don't emotionally blackmail me"
She kept her hand on her forehead and acted like a drama queen "my mother doesn't love me anymore..."
I glared at her, I ordered "15 minutes take a bath and be outside for the breakfast"
Manvi frowned and said "Hitler.."
"I love to be Hitler" I said, winking at her.
She hopped off the bed and went into the bathroom. I smiled and went out. I helped in hanging the clothes while Manvi came rushing and said "mumma comb my hair"
Gurumaa said "Come here my child, I will do it"
Manvi denied, she wanted me to do her hair but I said "go.. Nani will do it"
She agreed and sat on the floor. Gurumaa combed her hair and told her a story. Manvi laughed "nani.. This is so funny"
Afterwards, she ran into the kitchen and got breakfast. Nisha scolded her "what is this behaviour manvi??"
I glanced, Manvi said "what maasi?"
"You dropped the milk in the kitchen, what was so hurry?" Nisha shouted at her. She was one of the people who definitely didn't like Manvi's presence in the house.
Manvi argued with her "I already said sorry maasi.. Please don't overreact"
"Is this the way you talk to the elder" Nisha raised her voice more.
I finally interrupted "enough Nisha.. She said sorry so don't drag the matter"
Nisha glared at me and left the place. Manvi kept the breakfast on the table and walked out of the house without having a bit of it in anger.
I sighed, as she grew up her stubbornness and anger increased. I picked up my bag and followed her. She sat inside the auto and I sat beside her.
She was quiet, I took out a sandwich from my bad and forwarded "have it"
She denied crossing her arms around her chest "no..."
"Why??" I asked in a calm tone.
She didn't reply, I said "don't take out your anger on food have it"
She snatched the sandwich from my hand, I questioned her "Nisha's words hurt you?"
Manvi looked at me and said "yes.. Why does she always have to scold me?"
"Those who love, have the right to scold na?" I asked.
Manvi murmured "I don't see her love.. Only see the hatred towards me"
I kept my hand on her shoulder and pulled her closer "but I love you"
She eyed me "mumma don't act to be cute"
I made a face and asked "I am not cute?"
She finally smiled and said "this is wrong only I am allowed to do drama.. There is one drama queen in the world"
I smiled "okay my drama queen.."
She kept her head on my shoulder and I patted her head. Soonish, we reached the school. She ran towards her class while I headed towards the staff room.
Manvi's POV
I reached my classroom and sat down on the bench. Someone threw the paper ball towards me, I closed my eyes for a second and then looked at the person. She passed me a hateful look, I was so pissed off but controlled my anger.
I opened the paper ball and read the words "daughter of a transgender". Another paper ball came towards me, it hit it on my head. I read it and it was written "is she your mother or father?"
I crushed the papers and threw it away. Since I was 5 years old, I have been hearing this and tolerating such words against myself and my mother.
My mother told me she is special, and people will taunt me over it. I was a child at that time, but now I am a teenager sensible enough to understand.
The class ended, I stood up and the girl pushed me. I shouted at her "What is your problem?"
Tina glanced at me and asked "What??"
"Tina.. don't you dare speak anything against my mother," I said in a warning tone.
Tina smirked "what will you do?? Call your mother or father?" She laughed and others joined her.
I had it enough. I slapped on her face and shouted "stop it Tina.. otherwise, you will be rusticated from school"
I picked up my bag and left the classroom. I sat down on the stairs and tears brimmed down my eyes. The bell ranged and school was over.
I was at the gate waiting for Ahana, she came out after 10 minutes. I smiled at her, she held my hand and asked "how was your day?"
Should I tell her about the incident with Tina? She asked again "say na manvi"
I replied with a smile "it was awesome mumma.. I want to eat pani puri"
She took me to the pani puri stall, she knew which flavour I like she ordered and I smiled. I ate the pani puri and also fed her. After some time, we headed back towards home.
I asked her something to which she was left shocked.
