Chapter 13: At Hospital

Ahana's POV

Manvi was lying down in a pool of her own blood and students were surrounding her instead of calling out for any teacher or any help. I rushed to her and dropped down beside her taking her head on my lap.

"Mannu" I just uttered her name.

She was crying hard, I covered her wound with my saree dupatta "nothing bache.."

I picked her up in my arms and moved out of the school. I called for an auto, but none stopped.I looked at Manvi, her eyes were closed and her breathing was low. No, if something happens to her I won't be able to forgive myself.

Suddenly, few of my people came and said "Ahana.. What happened?"

I had no words and said, "no one is stopping the auto mannu.."

Neha got angry, they forcefully stopped one auto and shouted "hospital"

The auto driver denied "no.."

"You don't want us to curse your family," Neha said in a threatening tone.

He got scared hearing it, no man would want a transgender. He said "come"

I sat inside the auto with Manvi and Neha was with me. Neha assured me "nothing will happen.."

Within 20 minutes we reached the hospital. I shouted for the doctor immediately, the nurse and people were staring at us. I sighed, why do they always have to take steps to see who I am?

I yelled "call the doctor can't you see my daughter is bleeding"

Neha brought the stretcher and I kept Manvi on it. A lady doctor arrived, I said in a panic tone "please save her.."

"What happened?" she asked.

"She fell down from the swing" I replied with teary eyes.

The doctor took her inside the treatment room. I glanced at her through the glass wall keeping my hand on it.

The nurse attached a drip to her arm, I felt her pain. Neha consoled me, I kept my head on her shoulder.

Doctor Sanchi came out and asked, "who is her mother?"

"I am.." I replied instantly.

Sanchi gave me a look "how is it possible? You are a..."

I had it enough and shouted "yes I am her mother.. Her family abandoned and was about to bury her alive, I saved her.. What else you want to know?"

Neha tried to calm me down, I looked at her and said "no... why do I always have to explain?? I am her mother...I have emotions too"

Sanchi spoke "mam... please calm down she is very critical I have stitched but heavy blood loss had happened"

I held her hand and said "please save her.. She is my life I will bless you and your family"

Sanchi smiled and tapped my hand lightly "your daughter needs your blessing.. I am trying my best"

Gurumaa reached the hospital along with a few of our people, Sanchi entered inside the ICU.

"Ahana.." Gurumaa said.

I eyed her and cried in her arms. She patted my head and said "don't worry.. Our mannu is a brave girl"

"It's all my fault, I shouldn't have forced her for school" I replied in a broken tone.

"No it's not your fault, her own world people again try to harm her but we will save her again hmm" Gurumaa commented.

It has been 5 hours since she had been unconscious. The oxygen mask was attached to her face, she was breathing with the support of a machine. If anything happened to her, then who would call me "mother". Whom I will scold? Who will bring a smile to my face?

Her innocent smiling face flashed in front of me, I closed my eyes and let fresh tears brimmed down my eyes.

Everyone was praying for her, after a few minutes Sanchi came out. I looked at her with the hope of some positive news.

She was silent, and it was worrying me. I had no courage to ask her, she said "she is out of danger.."

I stepped back and smiled hearing her. I asked, "can I go in?"

Sanchi nodded, I pushed the door and entered inside the room. I marched towards the bed and sat on the small stool beside her. I held her little hand carefully in my arm and placed a soft kiss on it.

I heard her innocent but low tone "mumma"

I eyed her with a smile "mannu" I said in a whispering tone. I was just shading tears, I can't describe in words how elated I was seeing her awake.

Everyone else entered inside, she said while turning towards Neha "maasi.. Why mumma is crying like a kid?"

"You scared me.." I complained to her.

She gave me a smile "mannu didn't do anything.. And mannu is a brave girl, she won't leave you easily" she said.

I kissed her forehead lightly and said "I won't let you go away from me.. You are my child"

She touched her forehead, it seemed she didn't like the bandage on her head. She made a face and said "no hospital.."

Gurumaa said "first take permission from doctor aunty.. Till then no stubbornness"

Manvi agreed as all the elders were around her and she didn't dare to argue. She stayed quiet, I kept on caressing her head lightly.

Everyone left, Manvi said "don't cry mumma.. Manvi is fine"

I replied "Yes, I know you are fine... why do you always have to trouble me?"

Manvi assumed, unintentionally she hurted her mother and apologized "Sorry.. Mannu aapko bahut pareshan karti hai na.."

"No.. if you don't want to go to school.. Then I won't force you but please never bring me to this situation again" I spoke up.

She tried to stand up, I denied but she was adamant. She immediately hugged me and said "no.. I will go to school. You love me and I love you.."

I smiled at her maturity, sometimes she acts to be too sensible but sometimes she behaves immaturely. I asked her "is it paining?"

Manvi looked at me and said "yes.."

I kissed her forehead and pulled her into my embrace promising to protect her by becoming her shield.

The nurse entered inside with an injection, Manvi will cry now but as soon as the nurse injected her reaction left me totally shocked.
