SIX

Genesis's POV

After an hour or so looking around and asking people of the gang leader, I haven't learnt much info. All I've learnt is that him and his second and third command often fight here, apparently there some of the best fighters but nobody knows their real identities.

Tired and in need of a drink I give up and head out the back exit not wanting to deal with the handsy creepy guard outside the entrance.

As I'm walking past an alley I hear commotion inside. I quietly go over and see three boys about my age surrounded by a group of 7 guys who all have guns except for one with the exception of a knife. He looks to be their leader. Could this be gang related? If it is I could get me some information I desperately need.

As I tip-toe closer I see the three guys are Thorn, Mason and Jake. I just can't win, today can I?! What are they doing in with other gang members?

Just as I'm ten feet away I see the guy with the knife is Leonardo Degray a very dangerous a psychotic gang leader and murderer.

I've been looking for this guy for months and he's been here this whole time. Well he's not getting away this time.

Seeing as everyone's quiet and looking to get ready to attack I get ready to make my entrance. I check my gun is fully loaded and tucked in my waist band and my favourite crescent moon knives are strapped to my ankles. And then knowing I'm going to be fighting as the Scarlett killer, I reapply my ruby red lipstick.

I stand and slowly make my way towards them. "Tsk, tsk, tsk boys, didn't mommy ever tell you not to play with knives." At the sound of my voice everyone snaps their heads towards me with a shocked look on their face, with the exception of Degray who smirks at me.

"Agh look who it is. I was wondering how long it'd take my favourite assassin to find me. You know there's no need to hide underneath that hood now, is there." I pull off my hood and the three boys gasp when they see me.

"But you-I-you-what!" Mason screeches. I give them a flirty wave and smile coldly at them.

"Hello boys nice to see you again. Sledge, is it? You doing okay, you took a real good beating in there didn't you?" He just glares at me and I turn my attention back to the criminal in front of me.

"I see you know each other. Well me and Thorn have some business that needs to be solved but that can be sorted later. How you doing? The job going well? Dispatched any good criminals lately?" He chuckles with fake enthusiasm.

I stop walking a few meters away from him and glare at him. I tap my finger on my chin. "Well let's see Degray, I murdered your little brother on Thursday, but don't worry I made sure he died painfully." I saw his fists clench and him slowly reach for his knife. Wanting to provoke him more I continue. "And I think I killed your father last month. He was dealing a lot of drugs to minors. I don't really remember how I killed him, was it a slit throat? No too messy. A bullet to the head? No too easy. Oh, I remember I think I threw him out of a window. You know just for the fun of it."

I was surprised he still wasn't telling his men to rip my head of yet. I glanced at the three boys and they looked quite scared as well. I winked at them and continued provoking Degray. I readied myself knowing this would most likely be the final straw. "I think after I've finished with you I'll go after your son."

"Get her!" He screeches and all his men come charging at me.

The first two that come I simply dodge their attacks and punch one in the temple knocking them out before using a pressure point to take out the other.

Then three guys all come at me guns aiming. I knock the gun out of the first guys hands and then grab his hand, bringing it behind his back. I use the guy as a shield as the other two starts shooting, hitting there co-worker instead of me. While they're reloading I dump my human shield and run at the first man. I do a round house kick to the head knocking him out while breaking his leg in the process.

That leaves three guys left. Degray and two more of his men. One of the guys puts Mason in a choke hold with a knife to his neck in an attempt to make me back off. But all it does is pisses me off. "Really?" I ask tired and getting a little fed up.

"I guess we're doing this." When he doesn't release Mason I just sigh and pull my gun out and expertly put a bullet in his forehead, without any real effort. "Idiot." I grunt shaking my head.

Seeing the other guys distracted I kick him in the torso and he goes flying back into Thorn who flips him, making him land on his back with a deafening crack, knocking him out cold. "Nice." I appraise. He winks at me and I roll my eyes in return.

All that left is Degray.

"Oh, come on, Scarlett Killer you could have at least made them think they had a chance." Degray says with a fake pouty face.

He clutches his knife even harder, making is knuckles turn white. I swipe some blood off my face and push my mask back into place as it got moved slightly during the fight.

"Oh well you know me. I don't like to waste time. You know, things to do, people to kill." I say retying my ponytail.

"Well I better not waste anymore of your time, then should I?" He pulls out his knife.

"Tut, tut, tut. Degray didn't anyone ever tell you never to bring a knife to a gun fight?"

"I just want to see how skilled you truly are." I drop my gun reaching for my crescent moon knives.

He runs for me and I spin to dodge but I don't make it out unscathed as he manages to dagger me in the abdomen.

I bite my lip to stop from crying out. I clench my jaw and force myself to not think about the pain. I look up and see Degray wearing a look of surprise. "H-how are you not dead?"

"What did you really think a tiny little knife was going to finish me off. Wow you really are as small minded as people say." I walk up to him and give him a tiny grin before kicking him in the balls. That was just for stabbing me. He clutches his crotch and I raise my blade getting ready to decapitate him. "Any last words?" I smile coldly.

He looks up at me and gives me a final grin. "Caspian says hello." I swing my arm and slice his neck with my blade.

His head gets separated from his body as it lands on the ground with a thud. I look down at my work a smile proudly, that could have gone worse.

I stare at him for a few seconds. His words ringing in my head.

Caspian says hello.

He can't have found me. I've worked too damn hard to stay out of his clutches and his mindless brainwashing. I will not go back.

A sudden jolt of pain shot through my stomach. Shit I forgot what that bastard did to me. More pissed of then I was before I pick up my gun off the floor and shoot the headless body three times.

"Was that really necessary?" Jake asks.

I glance over my shoulder at them and shrug. "I had to make sure he was dead."

"His heads over there!" He yelled pointing to the bloodied head.

I shrugged again and looked down at the body. "There are such things as headless chickens."

Sighing, I reach into my back pocket and pull out my signature playing card. Crouching down I tuck it into the front pocket of his suit jacket and slowly stand up groaning in pain.

I look over at the three guys making sure they're okay.

"You guys still alive?" I ask.

They nod but their eyes are still glued to the body on the floor. Thorn is the first one to look at me but his eyes soon land on the knife wound in my side. His eyes go wide.

"Oh god are you okay?" He asks slowly making his way over to me. This snaps Jake and Mason out of their trances and they hurry over to me as well. Mason has a badly bruised jaw and is still limping.

A small amount of regret rushes through me before I push it away and chuckle. "It seems I was lightly stabbed."

"You were stabbed!?" Jake screeches running towards me. He places his hands over mine on my wound.

I step back and roll my eyes. "I said I was lightly stabbed there's a difference dude. Keep up."

Thinking that's the end of that I start walking back to my bike. When I get there. I pull off my hoddie and pull up my blood-stained shirt. The wound is still leaking with blood and it looks quite deep but from what I can tell I'll survive. "Shit do you need an ambulance?" I look up and see the three boys standing there with their jaws handing open.

I thought I left them in the alley. Groaning I drop my shirt and look up at them. "No. Look it's not the first time I've gotten stabbed. I'll be fine. I can call some people and I'll be back to killing criminals by Monday." I say with a lazy grin.

They all look at me suspiciously before Thorn seems to get knocked back into reality. "So you're the Scarlett Killer."

"That's what the call me." I say busying myself with my bag and bike.

"You're a murderer." Thorn states causing me to spin and stare at him. I cock my head to the side.

"Technically I'd call myself an assassin but if you prefer murderer you call me what you want."

"Why do you do it?"

Now that something I won't ever tell. "Reasons."

I bend over to pick up my discarded jumper but immediately stand up groaning in pain. "Fuck!" Sighing, Thorn pulls off his shirt and rips it before moving to tie it around my wound. He places his hands on my hips and I start to feel all tingly. I shake it off as nothing and look up at him. "Thanks."

Memories of earlier day surround me and I find myself smiling slightly.

"Anytime." He grins. I take the quiet moment to check out his now naked chest.

He has a defiant six pack and some sort of tribal tattoo on his upper arm. His arms are broad and full of muscle but it doesn't look like he has too much. His skin is creamy and tanned and sweat made his chest gleam.

I shake my head and I step out of his grip and ask the question I've been wanting to ask for a while. "Why were you guys getting ready to be killed by Degray anyway?"

"Oh um...you know..." Thorn trails off.

"What?" I demand folding my arms over my chest.

"Degray wants to join gangs with Thorn but only if he became the sole leader." All our heads snap towards Jake and Mason and Thorn glare at him while I stare at him wide eyed.

"Wait you're a gang leader?"

Thorn looks at me and slowly nods. "Shit!" I yell and start pacing.

"What?" Thorn asks. I stop pacing and look up at him. Thorn was the gang leader I have been looking for. He's the reason I'm here. Luckily for him I'm not here to kill him. Yet. Maybe in the future when he does something bad enough that I have to take him out but no, I'm looking for his parents.

"Nothing forget it." I swing my leg over my bike and put my leather jacket on zipping it up.

"Are you gonna be okay to drive?" Jake asks me. I look up at him and give him a grin.

"Probably not but what's life without risks." I wink at him and start up my bike.

"Do we know you?" Mason speaks up making me look at him, I lower my helmet and just stare at him. Mason studies my face before studying bike. I've only taken my bike to school once and that was the first day but I left before anyone saw it. And my mask covers half my face and most of my dominant features so they shouldn't recognize me.

"No, I never forget a face and you boys have quite memorable faces. I'll see you around boys." I say truthfully because I know I'll be seeing Thorn for definite. I put my helmet on before driving away.

That was close.

After a short ride, I arrive at an old friend's house. It's been a while since I've been here but I kinda need help. I slowly walk up the porch and knock on the wooden door. A tired male arrives at the door but when he sees me he shuts the door in my face. "Ax please. I need help." I bang on the door a few more times before he opens the door and just stares at me. "Two years Gen, two years."

I look at the ground ashamed. "I know I'm sorry Ax I just had to get away. You know what happened. What he did. I just couldn't face you or anyone after what happened. Please just let me in Axel."

"I was your fucking best friend Gen. You know what, fuck you. Don't come back." He says before slamming the door on my face once again.

Well that went well. I sigh and run my fingers through my hair before walking back to my bike. "I really am sorry." I whisper before driving down the road.

When I get home. The first thing I do is go to the kitchen and grab a bottle of Vodka. Opening it I take a long sip before going to my bathroom to clean my wound. stripping down to my underwear I pour some vodka on my wound, causing me to hiss in pain.

I pull out the first aid kit I keep under the sink. I pull out a lighter and a needle and thread. I hold the needle to the flame of the lighter and watch till its glowing. I pull my belt from my jeans and place in between my teeth. Biting down I sew myself back together. Once I've finished I pour more alcohol on it before placing gauze on it and the putting everything away.

I finish the rest of the vodka and look at myself in the mirror. My violet eyes are starting to glaze over and I smile. Glad that the alcohol is making me forget.

I walk upstairs and jump into bed. I stare at the ceiling and just think.

I don't normally drink. In fact, I haven't drunk alcohol in forever. I hate the stuff. how it effects your decisions, so your never in control, how it makes you lose focus. But the only good thing about it is it takes your pain away.

I know I shouldn't have gone to Axel's tonight. But I've been psyching myself out for it for weeks. Once upon a time when I thought life was perfect, Axel was my best friend and only family. My parents were murdered when I was young so I grew up alone.

Until I was taken in off the streets by Caspian. He owned this Assassins corporation and took in orphans and people who showed promise.

I was brought in and was told I would have a family so I agreed. By the time I turned 10 I was already a better fighter than anyone in the corporation. That's when I met Hunter and Axel. They were brothers and were only a year older than me. Hunter was training to be an assassin as well but Axel only trained so he knew how to defend himself. Axel was a hacker, he had a love for computers. He could find out about anything. I'm pretty sure I remember him hacking into the pentagon's mainframe once or twice. He taught me all the basics. However, he was also getting trained to be the doctor for the corporation. He was an A grade medical student and could help anyone.

Anyway me, Hunter and Axel became best friends. I'd always had a crush on Hunter but Axel was more of a big brother. He always supported me and always stuck by my side. So, when I turned 15 I couldn't take it anymore. Caspian was becoming more and more violent and was sending me on missions that involved killing innocent people. And Hunter well what Hunter did the broke my heart so I left and Axel tried to follow me but I left him and now well now he hates me for it.

Sighing I grab my phone. I type in Axels old number and send him a text.

Hey Ax, I don't know if you still use this phone on not but I'm going to send this anyway. Let me start off by saying sorry. I made a mistake that day, I never should have left you. I know you were effected by his decisions as well and I just left you to deal with it on your own. I had to get away. Hunter broke me and that place drove me crazy. I never stopped thinking about you. You were my only family and I just treated you like shit. I'm in town for a few months, working. you know how to find me if you ever decide to forgive me.

I hit send and the text disappears. I place the phone beside my bed before drifting into a long sleep.
