The Talk
Chapter 3
(The events of the prologue of Bittersweet are, in fact, supposed to be what happened after that lunch date that day for anyone curious. So if you wanted the epilogue could be counted as Chapter 2.5)
"Hey, look! It's the freak with two moms!" a boy snickered.
"I'm not a freak!" Jessica shouted angrily.
"Oh yeah? Then where's your dad?" he smirked.
"I don't have one." Jessica said hesitantly.
"See! Everyone knows a family needs a dad and one mom." he rolled his eyes.
"I don't care! I love my parents!" Jessica argued.
"What's going on here, Jessie?" Marcus ran towards his younger sister.
"Oh look! It's the freak's brother! That makes you a freak too, huh?" the boy laughed.
"Stop it, Quinten." Marcus growled, standing in front of his sister.
"Or what? You'll call your dad on me? Oh that's right, you don't have one!" Quinten howled with laughter.
"Excuse me, is there a problem here?" a tall, tan woman asked, lowering her sunglasses.
"Nothing, Coach." Marcus shook his head.
"Oh yeah?" her eyes darted to the other boy, who was quivering under her gaze.
"Y-Yeah, Mrs. Fritz. Just a little fight between pals, right?" Quinten said, to which Marcus nodded.
"Okay. But remember, they didn't call me 'Titan' in school for nothing." she smirked before turning to walk away.
"Well, whatever. I've wasted enough time with you creeps." Quinten scoffed, walking away towards his father's car.
"I'm sorry, Jessie... Did he hurt you?" Marcus asked, grabbing her gently by the shoulders.
"Boys are so mean! I'm never gonna marry a boy!" Jessica pouted.
Marcus chuckled, ruffling her shoulder length red hair.
"Okay, then. Are you gonna marry a girl?" Marcus joked.
"I guess? Or I'll just not get married ever." Jessica shrugged.
"Sounds like a good plan." Marcus nodded at his sister's response, suppressing a laugh.
"If ya do marry a girl, kid, remember to treat her right." Mrs. Fritz walked closer.
"Coach!" Marcus grinned.
"What do you mean, Mark's Coach?" Jessica asked.
"You guys have two moms, right?" she looked between the two, who nodded.
"Well, 'Jessie', if you like a girl, you have to be very nice to her. You need to make sure to make her smile. And if you do that, maybe she'll wanna marry you." Mrs. Fritz grinned.
"How do you know?" Jessica tilted her head.
"I'm also a girl who married a girl. My beautiful Christa. Well, you might know her as Miss Historia." the woman blushed at the mention of her lover.
"My history teacher?" Marcus said, astonished.
"Yeah. Who woulda thought, right? See ya at practice, kid. We got a game soon!" Mrs. Fritz waved.
"Ymir!" Miss Historia ran from the school steps, her dress flapping at her sides as she jumped into her wife's arms.
Marcus covered Jessica's eyes as the two kissed, but the small girl just pried his hand away and stared.
"I think I wanna do what mom and mama do." Jessica said, still looking at them.
"Like what?" Marcus asked.
"I wanna kiss pretty girls too!" Jessica proclaimed, smiling widely.
"W-What?! J-Jessie, you're way too young to think about... S-Stuff like that!" Marcus blushed in embarrassment, twirling a strand of hair around his finger nervously.
He did not want to be the one to talk to her about this.
"Hey, kids!" Monika called, opening her car door as she began walking towards her children.
"Mommy!" Jessica gasped and ran into her mother, hugging her tightly.
"Woah, there!" Monika laughed.
"Hey, mom." Marcus kissed his mother's cheek with a smile.
"How was your day? Learn anything important?" Monika asked.
"I learned how to divide numbers with variables." Marcus said proudly.
"Awesome! And did you learn something, Jess?" Monika glanced at the girl who had just let her go.
"I learned I'm gay." Jessica shrugged, waking to sit in the car and leaving the rest of her family stunned.

"Sayo! Sayori, I need your help!" Monika said as she entered her house, knowing Sayori had gotten off of work not too long ago.
"Is something wrong, flower?" Sayori asked her wife.
"Jessica seems to think-" Monika was cut off by the girl who proudly spoke up.
"I'm a lesbian." Jessica grinned at her mama.
Sayori's eyes widened as she glanced from her daughter to her wife and back.
"Is that not okay?" Jessica tilted her head, clearly confused.
"No no, blossoms! That's great!" Sayori chirped, picking the girl up and spinning her around on her hip.
"It's just... You're so young! We wanna make sure this is a choice you're sure of. One you're proud of." Monika patted her back with a smile.
"Yeah! That's all." Sayori nodded.
"Oh, okay." Jessica shrugged.
"So... Jeejee... What made you suddenly decide this?" Sayori asked, sitting on the couch and bringing the girl with her.
Monika sat beside them, also interested.
"I'll just.. Start my homework..." Marcus fumbled with his hair, blushing softly as he climbed the stairs.
"Okay, puddles! I'll call you for dinner!" Monika called before returning her attention to the momentarily more interesting child.
"Well... I don't like boys. Like, at all. I don't even have any friends who are boys." Jessica began.
"Understandable." Monika said with a nod.
"And I know that I kinda look at some of my friends like the boys in class would..." Jessica blushed softly.
"Also understandable." Sayori giggled.
"And well, I dunno. It just feels more.... Right?" Jessica finished.
"Okay. Well, think like this. Could you see yourself kissing a girl?" Monika asked.
"Absolutely yes." the girl answered as soon as the sentence was finished.
"What about a boy? Any boy?" Sayori tested next.
"Hmm..." Jessica closed her eyes in thought, her face quickly turning as though she ate a sour candy, "Nope. Gross."
Monika and Sayori shared a look, pausing a moment before erupting into laughter.
"Hey! This isn't funny!" Jessica blushed, her eyes widening as she crossed her arms in a huff.
"You're right... It's adorable!" Sayori cooed, kissing her daughter's cheek.
"Well, we love you no matter what. No matter if you like boys, girls, or someone in between." Monika said, kissing her forehead.
"Thanks, mom. Thanks, mama." Jessica said, kissing both of their cheeks in turn.
"No problem, blossoms." Monika smiled.
"Yeah." Sayori ruffled her hair.
Suddenly there came a knock on the door as Jessica blushed and abruptly stumbled to her feet.
"I-I got it!" she ran and smoothed her hair before opening the door.
"H-Hey, S-S-Summer!" Jessica stuttered, smiling awkwardly.
"Hey, partner." the girl smiled, her brown eyes shining.
"Jessica? Who's your friend?" Sayori smirked.
"My name is Summer, ma'am. I'm Jessica's partner for a project, and I'm here to ask if we can go to my house to work on it today?" Summer asked politely, tucking some of her long blonde hair behind her ear.
"Wow! We didn't know Jess had such a polite friend!" Monika chuckled, making her daughter blush brighter.
"Yes you've met so guys can I go?" Jessica said quickly, eager to leave the awkward situation.
"Sure. Be home by 7:30, or we'll send your God-Ma and her cop buddies after you." Sayori threatened.
"Yeah yeah, I will! Love you!" Jessica said before quickly shutting the door behind her.
"Is that even possible?" Monika asked.
"Is what even possible?" Sayori asked with a giggle.
"That our baby has her first crush! And on a really cute girl!" Monika squealed.
"So you're happy she's a lesbian like us?" Sayori asked sarcastically.
"Hey, at least now I know she won't get pregnant at fifteen." Monika laughed.
Sayori laughed too, shaking her head.
"I guess that's one less thing to worry about, at least." Sayori agreed.
"I think she might have an insanely huge crush on that girl." Sayori said.
"Might? Sayo, our baby's practically drooling over her!" Monika thought back to their interaction at the door.
"Hey, Mom? I can't figure this one out!" Marcus said, tugging a stray strand of hair as he walked downstairs with a paper in his hand.
"Let me see." Monika smiled, taking it from him.
Jessica was momentarily forgotten as both parents diverted their attention to their son, who was secretly craving their attention all the while.
