35. The feeling called Renaldi
You know the thing that disturbs your sleep every morning? I never had such stupid elements in my life. I was more prone to waking up early, to witness the sun rise, but it never occurred to me that someday, I might end up ignoring the real morning dew because of someone who had its scent.
"Riri?" Mimin shook my arm continuously trying to wake me up.
"Its 7am, get up!" She mumbled still lying beside me.
I slowly opened my eyes to peep out, "no, it's too bright."
"Because, you have missed your sunrise." Her hands reached my face tapping all over.
I yawned grinning irritatedly. "Mimi, stop!"
"What?" She rubbed her eyes sitting back.
"What's wrong?" I groaned slowly brushing my hair away from my eyes. "Can't I at least get a sound sleep in here?"
"You're never going to get better at this." Liam's voice killed all my dreams to sleep in a single go. I could bet he was smirking.
I pulled the blanket over my head, "Go Away!"
"Yeah, not happening." He smiled, pulling the blanket away from me. "It's time, Renaldi. Let's go!"
"I don't want to go." I faked a cry throwing a pillow at him. He smoothly caught it with one hand and allowed the blanket to slip from the other. I used the chance, pulled up the blanket and won the first battle of the morning.
"You bitch!" He cursed pulling the blanket again, this time, I was too stubborn to let it go. "Eleanor, hurry! We'll be late for school."
"Since when did you begin to be punctual?" I groaned suddenly leaving the blanket he had been pulling. I wanted him to fall a kilometer far, but he ended up hitting just the door.
"Mom!" He yelled.
I jumped out of my bed cursing his wide smirk. My index finger on my lips while the other hand in the messed up curls, "Liam, please! Don't call aunt! Give me 5 minutes, I'll be down."
"That's like my girl." He winked before a pillow hit his head. I wish I had thrown it, but it was my lovely sister Mimin who had been taking his nonstop crap too.
"I'm sleeping here." She growled throwing another one. She missed the shot at Liam, though someone else caught it very casually. It was none other than Jade Martin.
"Morning, Wifey." He smiled, walking forward.
"Unm," Mimi blushed a little sitting up, "well, get the fuck out!"
"Dear wifey, stop being so silly. When are you shifting in my room?" Jade asked shamelessly sitting beside her on the bed. Liam raised a brow and glared at my face which had the same reaction. I twitched my shoulders as he furrowed his lips trying to deny our understanding of the situation.
"Not even in my next life, let alone this one." She punched him but it was blocked with the same pillow he had caught earlier.
"Good to know that we are on the same page." Jade smiled. "I'll be off to college, you dare not speak to anyone about our relation."
Mimin pointed her finger at him turning her face to the color hot red, "you need to remember this more than me."
"Huh? Please! We all know the truth! You're too proud and glad to have this title." Jade ran his finger through his hair. What a handsome asshole! "Plus, don't flirt with that Bennette boy."
"Caleb is so much better than you." Mimin folded her hands smiling brightly. "You get your nerves loosened, else you're going to burn up in the name of jealousy."
"You!" Jade pointed a finger back at her but Liam dragged him out of the room in time. Even then he didn't forget to point towards the clock.
I got freshened up, wore my hot pants, and an oversized hoodie, did my hair into a bun, opened it again and tied it up into a ponytail. It made my face look too weird with the hoodie, so I changed the hoodie with a slick shirt but it didn't go with the hot pants. I changed them with rugged jeans. The look turned out to be a little shabby, so I switched the shirt with a Tshirt, then a tank top, and then denim jacket. But nothing went with the pair of jeans, so I switched back to the hot pants. Finally, I tied up my hair into a bun and wore the oversized blue hoodie again with the hot pants. Somehow, it looked perfect.
"Your five minutes ended years ago, Renaldi." Liam commented on hearing my foot steps approach him. He was leaning onto his car, his back facing me.
"Really?" I smiled proudly, "Sorry, I didn't notice."
His little husky laugh, more like a windy breeze invaded my proud moment. "Get i-n-" he stammered turning around.
"What?" I spluttered.
His steps approached closer, I could bet he was going to pull another prank. "I don't like it. Stop doing it." He whispered pulling my hair pin out making the blond waves circle my neck.
"Really?" The rush of dissatisfaction hit my spine, "It took me half an hour to decide the hairstyle, and you ruined it!"
His eyebrows crinkled, the jaw partially jolted while my hair clip slipped from his slick fingers. "Are you kidding me, Renaldi?"
"Liam Martin, you trashcan!" I punched his chest pushing him aside. I opened his car's door and sat in the front passenger seat. "Drive."
"Yes ma'am." He smirked still rubbing his chest.
It was a little windy today, perfect for a hair bun but again, my stupid driver had no fashion sense and yet he won the best fashion groomer award in 6th grade.
I was busy in my phone all through the drive while Liam was on a call with Attorney Pascal trying his best to help his brothers. Sometimes I envy these brothers. How easy it was for them to lean on each other and solve their problems. We sisters were too shadowed by emotions in such situations. I haven't seen Miael today, nor had I talked to Mimin about how she feels. It just seemed to be salting their wounds rather than comforting them.
"Ryan wants to take you on a date tonight," Liam joked, or so I thought. "I agreed to it for you." He added in the most serious tone.
"Ryan is not into me." I scrolled through my Instagram feed. Suddenly a message popped up, "Who says I'm not into you?"
Huh? I turned around, looked at every God damn place in shock just to check if Liam was hiding Ryan anywhere in his car. "How did you do that?"
Liam's side pointed lips tilted a little more as his phone screen brightened. He was on a call with Ryan, a bluetooth call.
"Damn it!" I hit his arm hanging up the phone call without his permission. As if he took permission from me before fixing a date for me.
"Stop messing around. Wear something red, he love romantic colors." Liam winked pressing the breaks as we hit the parking spot.
Eric rushed on seeing Liam's car, while Lele's heartbeats literally rang in my ears. She definitely was misjudging us.
"Morning." Ryan unlocked the door for me, his serene eyes flirting with mine, the scent of honeydew taking over. "You can ignore my texts, but if Liam permits, you can't ignore me."
I uttered a slow laugh getting out. He didn't step back, but I guess he forgot, I'm too short to be stopped. I simply bent a little and easily slipped out of his almost cornering situation. His face looked astonishingly challenged, more than disappointed. I took a step back, grabbed his goggles, put them on and sliding my furry side bag on my shoulder, began the best cat walk ever happened at Linkton High.
"Woah!" Lele gasped covering her mouth as I raised an eyebrow with my lovely tilted lips. "What's wrong today?"
"Nothing." I breathed turning to look at Liam, "but I'm learning to live."
With the sudden change in his expressions, I was sure he heard it. He didn't look at me, rather simply walked to our class waving at every other person.
It was a different morning, I felt, unm, like a Renaldi. All eyes on me but I wasn't hiding. Rather I was keeping up the family name, just like Mimin. I don't know if Miael had ever been this way, but I was enjoying it and I surely was nailing it.
