32. Truth in the House
Being with your other half is the best feeling in the world and I literally had my other half with me since before I was born, my twin. Well, not exactly the identical one, yet she was still a part of me.
"So, I'll get going then?" Miael smiled brushing my hair.
I pulled up her hand sticking beside, "Where to?"
"To her husband? Hope you don't mind?" Noah unlocked the door.
In your dreams.
"I do actually, I want to stay with my sister for a little longer. It's been so long." Miael replied to him before I could even think of a reason to stop her.
Noah twitched his brows, "excuse me?"
"Please Noah?" I snuggled into Mieal's arms.
"But..." he paused without defining his expressions and simply left shutting the door behind him. He slowly opened it again, "just for today."
"Fine with me." I chuckled.
"Yeah, we'll see." Miael hugged me.
I just loved spending time with her and I had smoothly managed to make her stay away from Noah. They looked good together, but they would have looked better if they were not forced in the first place. Miael was always a free soul, she was the only one amongst us who had the courage to challenge Dad face to face. We stayed together the whole night as I was not allowed to leave my room because of my burnt feet, Riri and mum returned home along with Dad. The whole night we discussed over the 2 years that felt like ages. She told me how Dad treated her, and how she had no other hopes to reach up to him again. I don't know how would he react to finding out the truth?
The next morning I woke up wrapped in the blankets only to find Mieal missing. I looked around forcing my eyelids to open up when I saw her playing with her curls at the balcony. "What are you doing?"
"Nothing." She smiled.
"Miael?" Aunt Felicia called.
"It's unlocked." She replied covering herself with a pashmina.
The doorknob turned swiftly, "Good morning girls. Are we going to college or we're helping each other in the kitchen?" Aunt Felicia asked.
"I think Mimin can rest for a day more, I'll help you in the kitchen till then," Miael replied softly.
"Morning Mrs. Martin." I yawned.
"Morning!" They both replied in chorus.
I chuckled awkwardly, "Morning sister."
"Does it still hurt?" Aunt Felicia asked.
"A little." I touched the wound.
"Get freshened up, and then join us for breakfast." She winked smiling brightly. How can someone be so charged this early in the morning?
"Aunt, can we have a proper family dinner tonight? I mean with everyone, including my parents and uncle Martin?" I pouted.
She took a deeper look at my face, "well, since it was ruined yesterday, then, surely we can."
"You're the best Aunt!" I clapped my hands.
"Get washed up quickly then!" She repeated my actions and left the room.
I rubbed my face softly trying to free myself from the laziness.
Suddenly there was another knock at the door. "Morning, Mrs. Martin, up already?" It was Noah.
Miael giggled letting lose her hair bun before replying, "you hated getting up this early, didn't you?"
"Can I come in?" He asked like a gentleman.
"No, I'm still in my pajamas." I yawned again.
"You're not wearing your pajamas, but loose shorts." Miael murmured as I covered myself under the blanket.
"Cool," Noah replied. He probably left after that because there were no more words from him. Miael went on to take a bath while I simply yawned in my bed. I was way too sleepy because of all the stupid medicines and painkillers. This morning seemed so beautiful, no noises, no stress, no Jade, completely perfect!
But it became much more beautiful with the soothing tune that came from outside. I could just feel it ring in my heart rather than my head. It was the tunes Jade played yesterday while finishing his assignment. It had the power to draw me out of my sheets, my bed and slowly out of my room as well. I could still just crawl a little without forcing my leg too much, yet I was able to enter Mr. Devil's room without seeking his permission.
The tune kept on growing on me just like his scent. My red curls were already dancing on the rhythm while my lips preferred to smile. I unlocked the balcony's glass door and carefully stepped out in the clear air mesmerized with his melody. He had noticed me toying around already yet he remained calm and unbothered.
Music is so weird, it holds the power to unite even enemies. Doesn't matter how much I hated him, his tunes, his music was always there to tell my heart to show its true colors. His fingers danced on the keys peacefully before his eyes turned to face me and the tune faded.
"Good morning, Mrs. Martin." He said pressing the last note.
"I'm not Mrs. Martin." I sat beside him. The silver-white piano was such a beauty, I wondered how it ended up in a devil's hands.
"How's your wound?" He asked.
"A little better."
He turned a bit towards me, "so, big day?"
"Seems like." I sighed, "I asked Aunt Felicia to have both our families over for dinner."
"Since you're my wife, it's just our family, one!" He rolled his eyes explaining to me for the 100th time since yesterday, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
I escaped his eyes turning my head away, "I can't handle the burden anymore."
"Fine." He agreed without hesitation. "Stop roaming around unnecessarily, your wound is still new."
"It's going to leave a mark anyway." I tried to touch it but he held my hand back.
"Why are you so troublesome? Can't you just do as I say?" He scolded.
"Obviously..." I pulled my hand back, "...I can't!"
"Get out of my room then." His devil from returned.
I tilted my lips upward staring in his eyes proudly, "Why? Didn't you just say, I'm your wife? Technically whatever is yours belongs to me as well!"
"You sure do know how to mess with me." He gave up much more easily than I had thought.
"I'm leaving." I yawned standing up.
His mouth repeated my word in imitation while I struggled to walk. I was about to unlock the door of his room when suddenly Mr. Devil decided to play a prank.
"Mrs. Martin, where's your phone?" He chuckled.
"Damn it." I murmured.
"What?"
"Pass me my phone," I ordered looking at his hands.
"I'm busy, take it yourself." He smirked.
"You clearly saw, how long it took me to reach here," I yelled in a squeaky voice.
"Then beg me." His smirk widened.
"You keep it." I sighed in anger almost stomping my injured foot.
"Fine." He kept on waving my phone in the air but I was sure, begging him was the last thing I would do, so I turned around and began to walk again.
"Wait." He called again.
"What?" I remained where I was, not facing him.
Suddenly I felt two arms wrapped around my waist, tying a blazer around it. I was about to punch him but his words changed my mood, "You can't walk out in those hot-pants in front of anyone else."
Shit! No! This didn't happen! Did I really...?
I looked down to find I was actually not in my pajamas but still in my shorts.
I didn't turn to face him rather simply twisted the knob of his door and pulled myself back to my room. His proximity would always tame my heart to do stupid things but at the end of the day, he was the enemy I was forced to stay with all my life. Maybe there was a piece in my heart that was dying to fall into his arms because of how caring and special he made his wife feel but the bigger part of my heart always knew he was an asshole and I was supposed to keep my distance from him. He had ruined my life, he had taken away my oceans from me.
The whole day I locked myself in my room not at all trying to get Jade in my sight because the moment he would step in the scene, he would either embarrass me for my stupidity earlier this morning, or we'll end up into a great fight.
The worst part was, I was not even sure if after today I'll ever have my freedom, but I was ready to stay in my room and use Instagram and YouTube all day rather than getting into a conversation with him.
Finally, at dinner, it was Mieal who happened to escort me to the dining table. I could still not walk properly. I was reluctant to even speak properly to anyone because tonight I was going to change the fate of all of us.
"How is your leg?" Dad asked taking a seat beside mum.
"Much better." I wiped my face.
Jade came down and took a seat beside me. His face clearly showed he was stressed too.
"Nervous?" I mumbled.
He looked at me and smiled faintly, "I'm confused. What if Noah gets hyped and smashes that tray in my face?"
I gulped down and took a deep sigh before finally grabbing the attention of everyone. Riri and Liam were still busy quarreling while Noah and Miael seemed to be discussing something serious. Our parents were laughing and giggling over their kids and I was about to steal their moment.
"We have something to tell you guys." Jade coughed.
"Yes, sweety?" mum asked him.
I bit my lower lip and stomped Jade's feet underneath the table with my right foot. he suppressed his scream but still didn't drop the bomb.
"Tell them," I mumbled.
"It was your idea to tell them, so please..." he forced a smile.
"No, you!" I yelled piercing my eyes in his skin.
"What is it?" Miael finally turned her attention towards us.
After looking at her face and sighing really deep, I dropped the bomb, "I couldn't get into Merchant Navy because I'm married..." I paused as aunt Felicia dropped the dish of lasagna, Miael stood up from her seat, Dad forgot to blink, Mum forgot to breathe and Riri choked on her fries.
After a moment, they finally began to sink in the news without speaking anything when Jade suddenly added, "...to me."
This time Liam chocked on the water while Martin Uncle forgot to breathe. Miael fell back in her seat, mum almost passed out and Dad blinked continuously.
"Stop fooling around!" Riri cried throwing her spoon in anxiousness.
"It's no joke." I let down my eyelids, "We mistakenly got married legally on the day Noah and Miael were supposed to register their marriage in place of them."
