30. Family comes first!

You know that feeling that tells you maybe this is what you've been looking for and then you suppress it with all your might, well I was getting that feeling on repeat.

"So, why were you with Jade?" Riri asked as I sipped from my cup. We were sitting in the garden, taking our evening snacks, avoiding everyone else, including Miael.

"He wanted to revenge me for ruining his bike, I wanted my gun back, so we were quite a busy fighting." I buried my eyes into the brownness of the tea. "Besides, I need to figure out a way to get rid of him, forever."

"As in murder him?" Riri questioned stirring her coffee, "If your plan works out, share it with me. I've taken a lot of Liam Martin myself."

"You don't get it," I sighed, "Liam's different. He just likes to fool around you, Jade on the other hand just wants to ruin me, entirely."

Dipping two sugar cubes into her cup, she began to stir again, "Liam is not that different. He signed a contract with Noah that if someday you and Jade end up getting married, I'll have to marry him. It's a bet."

"What?" I jerked my body standing up as the hot cup from my hand landed right on my left foot. "Why the hell would you agree to such a condition?"

"Mimi, your foot." She yelled.

"I know, My Foot! How can you actually agree to such stupid stuff, Riri? You clearly know, how good you're at losing bets!" My voice was almost crooked. I didn't ruin both my sisters' life, did I?

"Mimi, your foot, it's burnt." She picked up the bottle of cold water lying beside the teapot.

"Forget that! How can you?" I felt as if someone had pierced my heart with thousand little arrows, "What if you really end up losing the bet? How will you face your life then? Getting locked with Liam forever?"

"That should be the least of your concern right now, Renaldi." Caleb appeared from nowhere crashing down on the grass. "It's really burnt, can't you feel it?" He yelled picking up my foot and placing it in his lap.

"Where did you come from?" Riri asked, pouring the cold water at the reddened area. "Over there too," she pointed at my birthmark on my left foot, a little down my ankle.

"Stop it you two, I have a lot worse things to worry about." I pulled my foot back, finally feeling a burning sensation over my ankle and below.

"Not many people show concern to you, do they?" Jade mocked walking towards us with Noah and Miael.

"How does that concern you?" I rolled my eyes trying to take a step ahead. "Ouch."

"Mimi!" Miael came rushing towards me and held my hand as I finally dared to match her eyes. My poor sister.

Jade Martin, you asshole!

"Let me help you." Caleb stretched his hand out on seeing Jade grabbing my arm to pull me up.

How can I ever repay this man? Why does he have to be so sincere towards me?

"If such an incident happens at your place, please you may. This is my place and I know very well how to look after my people." Jade pulled me up into his arms again.

"Put me down, I can walk." I punched his chest. That seems to be my signature move for whenever he would pick me up.

"At my place, I would have taken care of her much better, this situation wouldn't have occurred in the first place." Caleb tried to pull me back.

"Stop it both of you, put me down." Anger and pain striking in my voice, I glanced in Jade's eyes. He was so unbothered as if using me to mark his territory.

"Caleb, let go. I know how to take care of what's mine." Jade gritted his teeth without breaking our eyes wavelength.

"I'm not yours," I said, very faintly.

"That we'll see." He replied walking inside the house slowly, the others followed too.

Understanding Jade Martin is understanding every single woman in this world at the same time. Impossible. He is cold, ruthless, doesn't care about anyone and then all of a sudden he is jealous, just like that. My body was wrapped around his chest and his arms were holding me so warmly, I felt I was home. But was this guy with the scent of the ocean, really mean his words that came out in his ego to fight Caleb?

Caleb was a good friend, Jade was a bad foe.
Yet, today, I was more shocked by how they both reacted. Jade never disturbed me or Caleb before, nor did Caleb reacted this rebellious ever, it seemed as if they were in a lovers quarrel more than they were being jealous of each other.

"What's wrong?" Aunt Felicia came out suddenly hearing these wild creatures yelling on each other for being careless and irresponsible.

"Just a little hot tea, they're taking it to heart too much," I replied smiling at her. She was the best.

"Yeah, so little that it had turned your feet blue, peeled your skin and evoked a few boils." Dad scolded pointing out the details of my wound. Jade slowly placed me down on the couch and sitting beside me placed my foot in his lap. See, impossible to understand.

"What are you doing?" I raised my brows.

"Caring for my family." He replied out loud enough to catch everyone's attention.

"Family?" Miael slipped the first aid kit from her hand but it simply fell into Noah's hands. Yeah, he really seemed to care a little more than I thought.

"You are family, and so is your sister," Liam replied pulling out Riri's hairclip.

"You!" Riri yelled brushing her hair away.

"Ouch." I cried holding my feet. The medicine was making it burn much more than it was before.

Jade smirked burying his head a little more into my wound, "So, it turns out Miss. Renaldi is, after all, a human herself."

"Shut up!" I kicked him with my wounded foot only to cry, "ouch!" Again.

"Careful." He scolded.

Was he concerned?

"This is so not like you." Riri shook her head in disagreement with his behaviour.

"That's how he is when it comes to his family." Liam glorified his words as if it was such a good thing to be a devil to the outside world and an angel to the family.

"Caleb, can you take me to my room?" I asked as Jade wrapped the cold bandage around my feet.

"No he can't, I'll take you," Jade stressed. His eyes were too shimmery, it seemed the next moment he literally would announce to the whole world what our relationship was. "Stop asking outsiders for help."

"Did you guys get into a fight or what?" Pete Bennette questioned entering the Martin mansion.

"Why are you here now?" I questioned glaring at him.

"Because of my brother's here?" He sounded as if he was questioning me. "He ran after seeing Jade rush to reach home because of the little stunt that you pulled in the parking lot earlier."

"What stunt?" Dad turned his almost red face towards me. "At least leave room for a day to finish before making me hear your impish deeds Mimin."

"Technically, two." Jade smiled at me slowly standing up. He placed my foot on the couch carefully and creased out his hoodie.

I pulled the sides of his arm trying to stop him from complaining to my Dad who had already raised his eyebrows. He simply ran his fingers through his almost brown hair and turned to face my Dad, "Your daughter attacked me with the gun you gifted her a few years back."

I closed my eyes in denial, trying to just dig into the couch and get vanished. This stupid creature already took my ocean, now wants to take my gun as well.

"Jade Martin! You asshole!" I yelled punching his back.

"Mimin? What did you do?" Dad questioned. "Why?"

"Jade? What did you do?" Aunt Felicia questioned him. "What made her use her gun on you?"

"It's all his fault!" I yelled at the same time when he yelled: "Its all her fault!"

"You both!" Mum rolled her eyes. "And you Mr. Renaldi! Why would you gift a gun to your daughter in the first place?" She added pointing a knife at her husband.

"Because you advised me to?" He replied in a questioning tone.

"Whatever! You two need to understand that in the end, we are a family! You both are grounded, together." Mum ordered.

"Yeah, I have a burnt foot, so fine with me." I folded my hands against my chest looking away from them.

"But I don't have a burnt foot, so I don't have to be grounded. Besides, she attacked me." Jade negotiated.

"Because you made me to!" I yelled.

"What did I do?" He raised his brows folding his hands.

"You...You..." I chocked trying to speak the truth.

"Stop it both of you! You're both grounded, and you've got to stay together till the time you sort things out!" Miael commanded getting irritated by our stupid fight.

"You sure you're my twin? What has gotten in your head?" I threw a cushion at her face and Noah smoothly caught it before it could hit her.

"Why do you think she is not?" He asked hugging her from the back.

"That's why!" I pointed at them almost holding each other. Miael punched Noah in his gut to escape.

"They're a married couple, if they don't stay like that, then how do you expect them to be? Like you both?" Mum scolded me and Jade. What an irony!

"Call a doctor and take her to the guest room, now!" Aunt Felicia ordered Jade.

"And you're going to take care of her today!" Noah added yawning.

What the hell? I really don't want to get involved with him at all.
