12. Who proposed the Marriage?
While my heart crumpled at his scent I cursed my fate for playing with me. If the guy who visited me was really Noah, my decision to not marry him was again abrupt and uncertain but at the same time, I had mentioned it to Martin Uncle. I was in a trap that I was weaving by my own hands.
"Hello?" Noah waved his hand in front of my face, "Does it still hurt?"
"Stop pretending now!" Mimi stormed at him in anger, "You're using her situation for your benefits and still you have got the courage to come up to her and pretend to be concerned."
He kept on staring at my face for an answer completely ignoring her.
"It's fine now. Thanks." I replied to his question looking at his face still in denial. He gave a faint smile before beginning to walk away.
"Was it you, in the hospital yesterday?" I questioned in a faint voice.
He stopped, turned around raising his eyebrow, "Did I leave my jacket over there? I couldn't find it since morning."
His words made sure I get a mini heart attack. So the guy with the scent of rain really turned out to be Noah Martin.
"I'm officially doomed," I mumbled nodding my head.
"Is it this one?" Mimi asked picking up his jacket that was kept beside my seat.
He simply nodded taking it and left me awestruck to die out of anxiety.
"I have to make a phone call, I guess," I said dialing Martin Uncle's phone number.
The call forwarded and I heard a phone vibrate not much far from my table. The first bell went, the second bell went, the third bell... "Hello?" Noah answered his phone as the call connected.
"Martin Uncle?" I asked.
He turned to face me again and rolled his eyes, "How long do you plan on calling me Uncle for no reason?"
"Yes, you should be calling him, darling or hubby by now." Jade, his brother said jumping out of nowhere.
"Not your place to fool around." Mimi pointed a fork at his eyes threatening him.
Jade smirked widely snatching the fork away from her before mumbling in my ear, "Marrying my brother to benefit your family? How long have you been planning to do this?"
"Jade! Mind your words!" Mimi jolted him away.
He stumbled and fell into Noah's lovely arms. Since childhood, these Martin brothers have been famous for sticking together. And Jade and Noah were almost alike, except today as everything I believed ever was turning out to be something else.
"I proposed the marriage," Noah said firmly looking into Jade's eyes who was still in his arms.
Jade blinked twice trying to believe the situation while my head swirled trying to cope with all the drama.
"You proposed the marriage?" Mimi asked pulling Jade out of his arms.
Jade's masculine body was too heavy for Mimi to handle which made her stumble badly and fall into Caleb's arms. The Silver boys back then were of equal status to the Martin brothers.
"I'm telling you it's fated," Caleb said winking at Mimi right before Jade fell on top of them as well. The three of them were lying on the floor like a sandwich. Caleb and Mimi were the outer layers while Jade was stuffed in between them.
"Jade!" Mimi shouted standing up. They continued to have their enemy's quarrel while Noah's words played on repeat in my head. He put on his headphones and left the cafeteria without clarifying anything.
I stood up and rushed after him too but he walked so fast that I lost him after two turns. I ended up in a lecture that I just found I was enrolled in. I rested my head on the table and almost fell asleep closing my eyes. Noah had not just agreed to marry me but he was also the one who proposed it. The professor continued to talk about modern literature in some foreign language which I was not at all interested in until the bell rang for dispersal. I slowly lifted up my body stretching my arms while partially yawning. I hit someone's head with my stretched arm and it pained me more than it pained him because of my already existing wound.
"Clumsy." He said in his husky voice helping me keep my hand back at the desk. I looked up to match his gaze and there he was, the guy I had been running after, Noah. I was so tired I didn't realize he was actually sitting beside me all this time.
"Noah," I called out to him before he could leave. He simply reduced his speed as I began to follow him again.
"How long have you had that number?" I asked trying to get into his sight by running after him.
"Forever." He walked three steps.
Shit! Does it mean I told him that Noah is mine?
"So was it you on the phone this morning?" I ran six steps to reach up to him.
"Yes." He took another step.
"And yesterday?" I sighed taking two steps.
"Still me." He said stopping all of a sudden as I banged my head into his aromatic back.
"Let me know your final decision, till now we have one yes and one no." He walked away waving a bye.
So it turned out I had demanded Noah Martin not from destiny but from Noah Martin himself. I didn't know how to handle this situation but I was sure being around him was only going to worsen the problem. Apparently I was forced to be with him for our families but I had never thought to get married to save two families would be something Noah would consider.
"Miael?" Mimi called keeping her hand on my shoulder as I jumped due to shock.
"Kill me, someone, please," I whined.
"Lord can't be unfair to the world, he would never take away such a beauty!" Pete Bennette said making his first-ever dashing entry.
"I take my words back, kill him, someone! Please!" I whined stomping my feet.
"I'll drop you home. Come." Jade said pulling Mimi by her backpack and offering us to help.
"Why would you?" I asked.
"You're going to be family, I can't just stand and see you get assaulted by these assholes." He explained towing us out.
It was impossible to understand Jade, he was narcissistic who cared for nothing but himself but there sure were days when he could be of help too.
"So, which chapel, church, beach are we having in the frame?" Jade asked driving his car. I was sitting beside him while Mimi was resting in the back seat.
"The registrar's office," Mimi said snuggling in the car's seat.
"Wedding ceremony can be done later, we have only two days before the auction of shares." She added reminding me that I was going to be a bachelorette only for the next 48 hours.
"Alright, I'll give you the list of documents needed for them to get legally married. I have already arranged for a lawyer as you asked me earlier." Jade said driving furiously.
"Why are you being so nice?" Mimi asked. I never dared to speak in between their matters.
"Martin family promised your father, no matter what, we'll stick together and be of help, always. I don't go back on my promises." He said applying breaks forcefully. Mimi was sitting without a seatbelt, she was thrown forward and her neck was sore because of the jolt.
"You bitch!" She yelled hitting him from behind.
"Mimi stop! Your hands are too strong for being a girl." Jade protested trying to free himself but she continued with her revenge. Unlike Liam and Riri, these too were more violent. And when they said they hated each other from the core of their hearts, they meant it.
We got down the car after they were both done fighting and Mimi rushed inside the house to bring all the documents that Jade had asked her. Through their sources, it was an easy task to get the legal work done in no time. The families began to get into the chores of all the wedding preparations while I began to prepare my mind for the worse.
