13 - The Interrogation

Thea and Peter were both sentenced to detention. However, Thea only got it because she was outside when class started with Peter. Peter, the poor boy, got a lot worse of a lecture from the principal.

It was closer to the end of the day when Thea and Peter sat silently in the classroom that held detention. The room was mostly empty, a few chairs were occupied by other students who were in there for an unknown reason. Posters of famous scholars lined the walls. A tv on a rolling cart sat in front of the classroom, playing a video of Captain America sitting in a chair, lecturing the audience about detention. At first, Thea snorted when she saw that video and thought about bringing it up to Steve when she realized she wouldn't be seeing him for a while.

After the whole incident with Steve and Tony, Steve's side of the fight was forced into hiding, if they weren't already captured and put into prison. Thea knew that she should be lucky with how she got let off by Tony and the rest of the government. But she felt bad.

She felt like she was given the royal treatment because she was Tony's 'daughter', that she was just a disobedient child and would learn better. But, newsflash, it had been months, since that happened and she still stood by her decision.

Thea sat across from Peter and watched as he sighed out, clenching his jaw before he bit his lip in frustration. She knew why he felt this way, but she also understood why he shouldn't focus so much on the superhero aspect of things. He couldn't rely on his powers to get him through his life. And although they helped a great deal, what would he do when he grew old? What would she do?

Thea had never thought about this little detail. She always went with whatever was happening around her. And if she had never met Tony, she was pretty sure she would have turned into the thing she fought so hard to protect from. A villain, a monster.

This thought made her shudder. But she wouldn't dwell on it now, she and Peter had a job to do.

Prior to getting detention, Thea and Peter made a plan to try to stop the Vulture and his illegal arms dealing. It was a shotty plan, to begin with, but it was better than nothing.

Clearing her throat, Thea caught the attention of Peter, who leaned back slightly as if not to try to distract the teacher's lazy eyes from his computer. She dropped her arm to the ground and pointed a thumb to the exit, a gesture saying 'Let's go.'

Peter nodded and squared his shoulders before he stood up from his desk and grabbed his bag, storming out of the room. Thea quickly followed suit by picking up her bag and leaving with him.

Neither of them felt any remorse to the poor teacher watching the kids in detention. But Thea knew that he truly didn't care if they left or stayed. Either way, he was getting paid.

Thea took quick steps in order to catch up to Peter in the hallway. The hallway was surprisingly empty and quiet. Only the faint sound of water rushing from a nearby bathroom let them know that they weren't completely alone in the school.

Peter led the way through the school, passing many empty classrooms and lockers before he came to a halt at one particular locker section by the doors of the school.

Thea had noticed that Peter kept his old suit and extra supplies underneath the locker section before, but never decided to comment on it. She thought it was actually pretty smart. No one would ever try to look for Spider-man supplies under lockers. She doubted that anyone but Peter and herself could even lift the lockers to reach them.

Lifting the lockers up with ease, he picked a bottle from the pile of hidden items labeled Web Fluid. Peter then, with as little effort as he lifted it up, dropped the locker section back down to its original level.

Thea winced at the loud screeching and thud the lockers made but knew that no one would be around to see such a weird feat like lifting lockers.

Straightening back up, Peter flipped the glass bottle in his hand and began walking once more.

"So," Thea asked, picking up her pace to meet Peter's. "Where to now?"

Peter glanced down at the web fluid in his hand and then back up at Thea. Shaking the bottle, he said, "I got to put this to use somehow. I need to go home to my suit to see something."

Thea nodded and looked forward, seeing the exit doors much closer now than they were at the lockers.

She wondered what he meant by that. But she knew she would find out once they got there. Best not to worry about something she would know the answer for eventually.

~~~~
Peter opened the door to his apartment cautiously, only sticking his head in barely as he called out into the quiet home.
"May?" His voice echoed and bounced off the empty walls.
Deciding that the coast was clear, Peter waved a hand for Thea to follow him inside.
Creeping in quietly, Thea trailed behind Peter as he scoped out the apartment for any signs of May, who could have been hiding in the kitchen. Peter crept through the hallway to his room while also keeping an eye on any new movement that would show that May was home.
Thea noted that Peter's room was as usual. Books and clothes were strewn about the floor and any surface possible. His desk was filled with technology like old computers that were torn apart, showing the wiring of it, and a camera with broken buttons.
The girl sat down on his bed, waiting for Peter as he slipped on his Spider-Man mask. She found it a little funny that he was only wearing the mask, but the rest of his outfit was his normal clothes. A hoodie, with the hood, pulled over his mask and a regular pair of pants.
She wanted to comment on the strange choice but decided not to. Knowing that Peter probably did this so that if May or anyone else walked in, he could simply turn around and look like a normal boy. Not one who was a hero.
Peter took a seat in his desk chair, swiveling it absentmindedly. He picked up the pen on his desk and clicked it multiple times as he swung his feet on top of the desk, leaning back into the chair.
Thea had relaxed on his bed, laying down on top of his messy sheets and random pieces of clothing.
"Hey Karen, what's up," Peter said.
Thea chuckled as she flipped over on the bed in order to look at Peter. She cocked a brow and rested her head on her hand. "Karen?"
Peter groaned as he leaned as far back as possible, looking at Thea behind him. But his view of her was upside-down. He shushed her grinning face before he straightened himself back up.
Thea, as much as she wanted to, couldn't hear what conversation was going on with his suit. She was only able to hear Peter's end of the conversation, which frustrated her beyond belief, but she also knew Peter would tell her what he found out.
"Listen, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm trying to figure out who the guys under the bridge were that night, but I mean, I can only kind of remember part of a license plate."
Thea listened in closely, trying to hear what his suit was saying, but her ears couldn't pick up any sound other than Peter's clicking of his pen. But what Peter said made her eyes narrow.
Peter was talking about the night of the party and the men he ran into. Thea had only caught up to Peter during the tail-end of the fight, but it was enough for her to know that these people were bad news.
"Footage?" Peter asked quietly.
Thea furrowed her brows, trying to piece together what Peter could possibly be talking about.
"Everything? Like all the time?" Peter said, shocked.
Even though Thea could only see that back of Peter's head, she knew that he had just learned some information that he hadn't before.
Peter suddenly groaned and threw the pen he held in frustration.
"Yeah, of course, it is." He leaned over on his desk, resting his head in his hands. "Um... yeah, just roll it back to last Friday."
Thea sat up in the bed and rested her head in her hands, listening closely to Peter.
"No, no, no. No, no, no. This is just me messing around. Go later in the day, later in the day," Peter waved his hands frantically, trying to get to the correct footage.
Thea bit her lip, holding back a laugh as she stood up and sat on the edge of the desk, in front of Peter. She looked down at the boy, which hadn't seemed to have noticed her yet. Thea rested her hands beside her as she kicked her legs above the ground.
Peter's mood changed suddenly from one of frustration to one of embarrassment. And even though Peter wore a mask, Thea could still see the change. But it made her wonder what the suit was showing him.
Peter's cheeks grew dark with a flush and he was glad he had a mask on, otherwise, Thea would be able to see it. Because in his mask, in front of his eyes, was showing a video of Peter, holding a selfie of Thea and him together and Peter kissing the image of Thea.
"No, no, no, no, move on, next one please," Peter sat up straight, waving his hands frantically.
Thea tilted her head and leaned forward, looking right into Peter's eyes. Or rather, the part where his eyes would be if there was no mask on him.
"Peter? You good?" Thea asked sincerely.
Peter, who hadn't noticed that she moved in front of him, yelped as he jumped back in his chair at the sudden presence of Thea. But Peter wasn't scared of Thea, per say, more like he was worried that she could somehow see what he was seeing.
"I'm fine," Peter's voice cracked slightly.
Thea smirked but decided to leave the poor boy alone and sat back on the edge of the desk.
"Fast forward to the arm's deal," Peter said as he stood up from the chair beside his desk. Thea stayed put and watched as Peter paced around the small room.
"Okay. The two on the right, who are they?"
Thea's interest peaked as he said this, lifting her head slightly.
"Nothing?" Peter said, causing Thea's head to drop. A few more moments of silence passed for Thea as she waited for Peter's reply. But this reply wasn't anything that she was expecting.
"Let's pay him a visit."
Thea smiled as Peter took off the mask, throwing it onto the bed beside him. She hopped off the desk, now leaning against it.
"So... who are we paying a visit?"
Peter, with his hair now messy from the mask, looked over to Thea.
"A man named Aaron Davis. He was there the night of the arms deal and he might know who those other men are," Peter said.
Thea sighed out and grabbed her book bag, which she had thrown by the bed once she laid down. Digging through the bag, her hands found the item she was looking for. Pulling out her brooch she showed it to Peter with a grin before pressing it against her sternum.
Peter quickly followed her lead and got rid of his hoodie and pants without a second thought. However, he quickly realized his mistake. He was so caught up in the moment and the heroics of it all that he completely forgot about Thea standing right beside him.
Thea was already clad in her suit, the mask covering the lower half of her face. But Peter could see her brows raised and eyes wide as she let out a low whistle. She crossed her arms and pushed up from the desk she was leaning on.
"I um," Peter stammered, not knowing how to recover from this awkward situation. He quickly grabbed the suit from his bag and hopped into it. He struggled to get in his last leg, cursing his nervousness from Thea, who stood watching him.
It wasn't only Peter who had a red tint to his cheeks, but Thea's face also heated up slightly, but she ignored it. Instead, she chuckled as Peter groaned in frustration, trying to get the suit up.
"Dang Parker. I knew you were fit from being a hero, but I didn't know you were ripped," Thea said as she walked over to his discarded mask and picked it up. She handed it to the flustered boy with a grin.
Peter slipped on the mask once more and pressed the spider emblem on his chest, sucking in the loose suit to his body. He cleared his throat, and brushed off invisible pieces of dust, trying to avoid Thea's gaze as she trailed his body.
"Let's just go," Peter said, opening the window.
Thea chuckled but followed his lead and hopped out the window, cautiously glancing around for any peering eyes. But she rolled her eyes as she saw Peter already swinging down the street. Closing the window, Thea hopped off the railing. The wind formed around her body as she fell before she stopped herself, flying upward into the sky and going after Peter at a rapid pace.
Peter swung across the buildings, racing to reach Aaron Davis as Karen gave him directions as to where to find him. Thea finally caught up to him, purple mist trailing behind her as she kept up her pace with the spider.
"So!" Thea called out over the rushing sound of the wind. "How are we going to find him?"
Peter glanced up at Thea's flying body but continued swinging as he called back up. "My suit is tracking the location of where his car would be! It's not concrete, but it's all we got!"
Thea nodded and set her eyes back on the path. She knew that on the street level, citizens were gawking at the sight of two heroes zooming past them. Thea knew that new photos of both Spider-Man and Dark Matter would appear within a few minutes as amateur and professional photographers got a taste of them.
~~~~

Thea and Peter landed right outside a parking structure next to a busy grocery store. A strange place for a criminal, but Thea knew that everyone had to get food somehow. And the majority of them got it from stores.

Peter crouched on a ledge of concrete that stood a few feet from the car they were tracking. Thea stood beside him but tried to keep herself as hidden as possible from any wandering eyes.

"Hey, so who's talking to him? I think I should," Thea said, leaning against the nearby wall with her arms crossed.

Peter looked up at her and sighed out in annoyance. "No, I should do it. If I have any trouble I'll look for you, but for now, just stay put."

Thea was about to protest but grinned in amusement. She knew that something would happen that would be great blackmail material, so she kept her mouth shut. She, instead, kept her eyes trained on the empty level of the parking lot.

"Pete, there," Thea said in a low voice and pointed a gloved finger to a figure moving over to the car they were tracking.

"Right," Peter said as he sent out a drone from his emblem on his chest. Looking up, Peter jumped to the chest, sticking there as he crawled slowly to the man, who was opening his car.

Thea could barely overhear Peter whisper to his suit, "Enhanced Interrogation Protocol" as he left. She peered from the corner as she saw Peter hop down from the ceiling once the drone confirmed that the man was, indeed, Aaron Davis.

Peter shot out a web quickly, sticking Aaron's hand to the trunk of his car as the drone scanned his face.

Aaron looked confused and almost worried as the sudden attack surprised him, making him drop a bag he was holding onto.

"Remember me?" Peter said, or at least Thea thought it was Peter.

His voice was so deep and distorted that it no longer sounded anything like him, instead, sounding like an old smoker's voice. Thea had to hold in a deep laugh at the strange-sounding voice. She cupped her hands over her mouth, or rather, mask, in order to stifle the laugh.

Peter stomped over to Aaron's stuck figure, trying to seem more dominant and demanding than usual. Aaron jumped back a bit, but couldn't move much farther.

Thea found this whole exchange laughable, but stayed still, letting Peter have his moment.

"I need information. You're gonna give it to me now," Peter demanded in the deep voice. The drone flew beside Peter's head.

"Alright chill," Aaron said, holding up his other hand in order to either protect himself or calm down Peter, Thea did not know which.

"Come on!"

"What happened to your voice?" Aaron said, stepping a bit closer.

"What do you mean, what happened to my voice?"

"I heard you by the bridge. I know what a girl sound like," Aaron said, dropping his raised hand.

Thea couldn't hold back the laugh that escaped her lips this time. But thankfully, neither of them heard it.

"I'm not a girl! I'm a boy! I mean I'm a... I'm a man," Peter insisted, but Aaron was only messing with him.

Aaron's expression relaxed at Peter's flustered state and began opening the trunk more. "I don't care what you are, a boy, a girl-"

"I'm not a girl! I'm a man. Come on, man. Look, who is selling these weapons? I need to know. Give me names or else," Peter threw his hands together as he narrowed his eyes.

Thea knew that Peter wasn't intimidating to Aaron by any means. This was only confirmed when Aaron slammed the trunk of the car shut loudly. This caused Peter to jump back slightly. Aaron looked unimpressed at the person in front of him as Peter looked around to Thea with wide eyes.

Thea knew Peter would soon need her, but she could let this embarrassing exchange carry on for a few more minutes... right?

"You ain't ever done this before, huh?" Aaron said, lifting his head higher.

"Deactivate Interrogation Mode," Peter said with a sigh as the drone flew back onto the emblem.

Aaron snorted and looked down at the ground in disbelief at the superhero in front of him.

"Look, man, these guys are selling weapons that are crazy dangerous. They can't just be out on the streets. Look, if one of them can just cut Delmar's bodega in half..." Peter said, his voice changed back to his normal, high pitched one.

Aaron, who was looking down at his nails bored, suddenly perked up at the mention of the sandwich shop. "You know Delmar's?"

"Yeah, best sandwich in Queens," Peter was taken back.

"Sub Haven's pretty good."

"Ah, it's too much bread," Peter shook his head.

"I like bread," Aaron nodded.

Peter groaned and raised his hands high before lowering them down to his head rubbing it in frustration. He turned around quickly to Thea's hidden figure, silently pleading with her to help.

Thea, from behind the corner, chuckled and stepped out into the light, letting both of their eyes fall on her body as it walked over to Aaron with a purpose.

Peter stepped back in shock as Thea never slowed in her destination. Her hands had formed balls of purple mist that covered her fingers like a glove. Peter watched with shock as he had never seen Thea take something so seriously. Like she was a real interrogator.

Aaron gulped, seeing the dramatic difference between the two heroes. One, which was childish and inexperienced, and the other, which had seen some things, and wasn't afraid to do whatever is needed to get what is right.

"You're gonna tell me the information we need," Thea spoke darkly as she held up her hands as they glowed brighter. The mask muffed her speech a bit, but she made sure he could hear every word.

"Hey, hey, hey, no need for that," Aaron said, holding his hand up.

"Ok then... tell me who those people are," Thea said, lowering her hands to her side, but not stopping the flow of power through them.

Aaron gulped and paused for a moment, thinking of his choices. He wasn't as sure about his safety with this girl as he was with Spider-Man. But his choices took too long to think about as a sudden pressure wrapped around his outstretched hand and tugged it over the trunk while his other hand was stuck to the car.

He struggled as he was tugged in two separate directions, his chest pressed up against the car. Aaron looked at the girl in front of him with wide eyes as she stared down at him with a dark glare.

"Alright, alright, the guy with the wings is just a psychopath. I don't know him or who he is... but I do know where he's going to be," Aaron groaned in pain as the mist gripping his hand, pulled tighter until it was released completely.

"Where's that?" Thea asked, crossing her arms.

"Staten Island ferry, eleven," Aaron said, cradling his arm against his chest. There were no signs of damage like a rope would give, but his hand felt like it was engulfed by a giant bruise.

"Yes!" the spider-clad hero exclaimed, jumping up and down.

Thea rolled her eyes at the outburst but kept her attention on the man by the car.

"Hey!" Aaron called out to Peter, who was celebrating the new information. He paused in his joy to look at Aaron with confusion. "You gotta get better at this part of the job."

Peter gaped but straightened his back and crossed his arms. "I don't understand...I'm intimidating." He puffed out his chest slightly.

"No, you're not," Aaron deadpanned. "But she is," he pointed at Thea. "Learn something from her."

Peter scoffed and uncrossed his arms. He turned over his shoulder and began to walk away when he shouted out. "That's going to dissolve in two hours."

Thea rolled her eyes at his obvious stab at Aaron calling him meek. She turned to see Peter walking away.

"No, no, no, no. Come fix this," Aaron demanded as he pointed down at his webbed hand.

"Two hours. You deserve that," he stabbed a finger in Aaron's direction as he walked backward.

"I got ice cream in here."

"You deserve that. You're a criminal. Bye, Mr. Criminal," Peter waved as he trotted out of the parking lot, not waiting for Thea as he knew she would follow.

Thea sighed out and brought a hand to her forehead, rubbing it like there was an oncoming headache. Still looking down, Thea, with her other hand, shot out a stream of mist at the webbed hand.

Aaron jumped for a moment, thinking she would do something like before, but he was surprised to see her powers wrap around the webs. He relaxed as he realized she was helping him. And with one final pull, Thea ripped the webs from the car, freeing Aaron's hand from its jail.

Aaron stared at the strange girl in front of him as he rubbed the sore hand.

Thea looked up from her gaze on the ground to see Aaron cock a brow at her. She waved a friendly hand before she quickly made her way out of the parking structure and towards Peter.

Peter waited at the edge of the parking structure, tapping his foot impatiently. He huffed as he saw Thea help Aaron get free of his webs. But Peter knew that she wouldn't just leave him there. She was better than that.

Thea smiled when she reached the waiting figure. Although she was wearing a mask that covered her lips, her eyes showed the signs of a warm smile aimed at Peter.

"Let's go," Peter said, turning around to the outside where sunlight warmed his skin under his suit. He shot out a web to the nearby building and prepared to launch himself up when Thea grabbed his shoulder, stopping him.

"Wait," Thea said, looking down at her phone. "I'm getting a call... from Happy?"

Thea dropped her touch on Peter's shoulder. Peter looked over his shoulder in confusion and glanced down at the screen of the phone. Just like Thea said, the caller ID of the call was coming from Happy Hogan.

"What does he want?" Peter asked. "Wait... do you think he knows?" Peter's eyes widened as his body tensed at the thought of Happy figuring them out and seeing as they weren't at school.

"I don't know..." Thea said as her brows furrowed deeper, thinking of the possibilities as to why Happy was calling.

He could simply be calling for a check-up. He could be calling to ask for her help during the move. He could know what Peter and she were doing and was going to tell Tony.

That was the worst possibility she could think of because she and Peter would most likely get their suits taken away and put on a careful watch.

But... there was a chance that Happy was calling to tell her Tony was back. That made her heart race for a moment. The thought of Tony coming back to her after months of being gone made her warm.

Tony had left without much warning to another country. He never faced her in person to tell her goodbye. But rather, Happy told her. She had grown used to these surprises, but for some reason, within the past few years, since she's known Peter, she's hated the idea of people leaving.

Gulping, Thea clicked the accept button and brought the phone to her ear, listening to the static of the call turn into a voice.

"Thea?" Happy's voice called out from the other end, making sure she was there and listening.

"Yeah?" Thea said, her voice cracking slightly at her nerves.

"Ah, great," Happy sighed out. "I need you to come back to the tower for a few. I need help picking out what items Tony would want to keep and throw."

Thea's nerves relaxed as she cocked a brow at the request.

Peter looked at her with a question in his expression. But she simply waved it off, relaxing the boy's worried look.

"Why don't you ask Tony for his opinion on his stuff?" Thea bit out, obviously not amused with this call.

Happy took in a sharp breath and Thea could faintly hear Happy talking to another person. But she couldn't hear it well enough to make out to who or what about. She assumed it was a worker asking him for his help.

"Because," Happy drawled. "I have already asked him on multiple items before and now he's annoyed when I do ask him. He said to ask you because you would know him the best on this subject."

Thea rolled her eyes and sighed out, about to end the call when Happy called out.

"He said if you don't help he's going let me make the choice and I don't know which items of yours are valuable."

Thea paused in her rejection of the call and brought the phone back up to her ear. Grinding her teeth tightly, she bit out, "Fine... I'll be there in a few minutes."

Not giving Happy the time to end the call or say goodbye, Thea pressed the end call button aggressively. Groaning, she shoved the phone back into her zipper pocket and brushed a stray hair from her face, rubbing her forehead in the process.

"What was that all about?" Peter asked, his web he held before the call was now long gone. Instead, his hand laid by his side as he waited for Thea.

Sighing out deeply, Thea looked up at Peter. "Happy needs me to go to the tower to help him. I'll be back before the ferry leaves, so you better not leave without me."

"But what if-"

"No," Thea said, stepping closer to Peter, poking a finger at his chest. He stumbled back a bit at the sudden force. "If you step on that ship without me, I swear I will gut you, Parker."

Peter groaned but accepted this proposal. Thea said nothing as she flew up into the air, only leaving Peter with a sharp glare. He watched as her body disappeared into the sky, leaving only a trail of purple mist as evidence that she was there.

Hesitating, Peter shot out another web and began to swing toward the docks where the ferry would be. He knew Thea would kill him, but he would wait there for her. And if she didn't make it... well, he would just have to suffer the consequences and her wrath.

He shivered at the thought of Thea finding out that he disobeyed her suggestion, but Peter couldn't let this piece of information about the bad guys slip through his fingers.

~~~~
Thea landed on the docking platform of the tower silently. Even on the platform, hundreds of boxes littered the edge. Some empty, but most of them were already filled with various items and memorabilia. She pulled the brooch from her chest and stuffed it into her pocket, keeping it safe and secure.
Although the workers at the tower were sworn to secrecy and would never tell about the information and people at the tower, Thea was still cautious. Tony, or rather, Happy selected the workers, knowing that they were reliable and trustworthy enough to the Stark industry.
Shaking her hair back into place from the rough wind, Thea walked inside the building. Random people she had never seen were rushing about, filling boxes with more items, and finding places to fit new ones.
She scanned the open room, yet cluttered room when they finally landed on the man she was looking for. But what surprised her was the other person standing beside him.
"Tony?" Thea breathed out, stopping in her track on her way to them.
Tony, as if he heard his name being called, turned around to Thea with a wide grin. He took wide steps to reach her halfway.
Thea's glee of seeing her father figure for the first time in a few months was wiped clean when she realized how actually he left her. Huffing out, Thea reached up and flicked up on his forehead.
Tony's outstretched arms quickly retracted to dress his new 'wound'. He looked at the teen in disbelief and a frown present on his face.
Thea simply crossed her arms tight and frowned back at him. Sighing out deeply, Thea gave into him and hugged him briefly, but tightly. This embrace was reciprocated by Tony, hugging Thea back as tightly as she was.
Thea dropped her arms to her side and looked up to Tony with a furrowed brow. "Why did you leave without telling me?"
Tony's face was now riddled with guilt as he looked at Thea's broken expression. Licking his lips, Tony sighed out. "I... I guess I didn't want to worry you?"
This answer seemed like more of a question than an actual response, which irritated Thea. She knew he had reasons, but he never liked to admit his mistakes, which she assumed she got the stubbornness from.
"You can't just..." Thea brushed a hand through her hair. "Leave, without ever saying anything. I can't deal with this kind of stuff... not after..." Thea choked on her own words, not able to finish her sentence. But Tony noticed this and calmed her with a firm hand on her shoulder.
After her kidnapping from Hydra and the experimentations and torture, she didn't want to be alone again. She needed to see Tony, and if he did have to leave, she needed to know in order to handle it better.
"I know... I know now that was selfish and stupid of me. I won't ever do it again, I promise."
Thea nodded. But realization hit her.
Peter... the ferry!
She glanced over at the clock hanging from the wall and read the hands, only a few minutes from eleven. Heart clenching, Thea thought of a way out of her situation. Although she loved seeing Tony again, she completely forgot about Peter and their mission.
"I...uh got to go back. See I have a project due in an hour with Peter and I have to finish my part of it," Thea rambled out.
Tony's face changed from one of confusion to one of realization, which worried Thea. "Oh, speaking of Parker, I have to call him because of the Washington situation. You stay there," Tony pointed at Thea, who looked at him with wide eyes.
Thea gulped, but couldn't stop Tony as he asked Friday to call Peter. She tapped her foot worriedly, hoping that Peter would ignore the call. But she knew that Karen wouldn't allow that, seeing as Tony was her creator and he held the rule over it all.
"Mr. Parker, got a sec?" Tony asked. Thea, just like she had done with Peter and his suit, tried to overhear his conversation. But unfortunately, she was only able to hear Tony's side of it. "Nice work in D.C. My dad never really gave me a lot of support... And I'm just trying to break the cycle of shame." Tony looked over at Thea with apologetic eyes.
Normally, she would love this look as Tony never gave it out often, but right now, she was too worried about Tony figuring out what was going to happen.
"Don't cut me off when I'm complimenting you. Anyway, great things are about to- What is that?" Tony's eyes narrowed in suspicion as he overheard a strange noise.
But Thea knew exactly what this noise was. And she was fuming at hearing the faint sound of a ferry horn buzzing. She grit her teeth, her body twitching to put on her suit and fly over to Peter.
"That's odd. Happy told me you quit band six weeks ago. What's up? Hey!"
Tony grumbled as he shoved his phone back into his pocket.
Thea hesitantly asked Tony, "So... what was that about?"
She hoped that Tony didn't notice anything different, but she could feel in her gut that he suspected something was amiss.
"He just hung up on me," Tony said exasperatedly.
He shoved his hands in his pockets and was about to say something to Thea when another call interrupted him. Tony groaned as he pulled his phone back out, but his obvious irritation was stopped when he saw the caller ID. Talking seriously, Tony asked the mysterious caller, "What's up?" Tony's expression quickly turned from one of seriousness to one of confusion to one of anger in a short span of a few seconds.
Thea greatly disliked this sudden change in Tony, hoping that it was something completely unrelated. But judging by his mood and twitching hand at his side, she knew it was Peter.
Tony stuffed his phone back into his pocket and began to walk over to the ledge outside which Thea landed on only a few minutes ago. Thea quickly followed closely to the fuming man and cautiously asked him.
"What was that?"
She didn't dare look into his eyes. The fear of the call being about her as well as Peter was too great for her to tempt fate. And although in the back of her mind she was worrying and mad about Peter not listening to her warnings and threats, most of her mind was thinking about Tony and what he was about to say.
"I just got a call from an FBI agent that I sent after the weapons dealers," Tony said.
Thea's eyes widened greatly, complete shock at what she heard. Tony had sent the FBI after the same thing she and Peter were searching for.
"And it seems like a certain spider is after the same dealers on a ferry outside Staten Island."
Thea's relief for herself grew, knowing that Tony didn't know she was a part of this secretly calmed her. But she was glad Tony wasn't looking at her as he suited up in his Iron Man suit. Her eyes were wide with many emotions. Fear, betrayal, worry, anger.
Tony never stopped her as she pulled out her own suit and pressed it onto her chest. Her anonymity covering her body as the suit grew over her skin like a glove.
Tony never stopped her as she followed Tony into the sky as they flew over to the ferry where Peter struggled to keep everything in check.
