(Y/n) Pov.
I bolt upwards in my bed, sweating and short of breath, "Just another nightmare... None of that really happened..." I told myself as I closed my eyes and tried to steady my breathing.
"Sorry but... That wasn't a dream." I hear a voice from next to me. I don't need to look at him to know it was Jace, "W-what? You mean..." I trail off as the images of Alex, Butch, and my dying father came to mind, nearly making me puke my guts out. Jace sits there for a moment, "Bishop Fang died 10 hours ago. Unfortunately, his death was not quick as he had drowned in his own blood..." He said sadly taking a seat on a couch near the bed I was sitting in, however, rather than his signature leather jacket he is in a more uniform-like outfit consisting of a grey long sleeve shirt and tan cargo pants.
I quickly scramble out of my bed and throw open a door hoping it was the bathroom of wherever we were. Luckily, it was as I dropped to my knees and finally lost the contents of my stomach. After a minute or two, I get off the ground and walk back out of the bathroom, finally getting a good look at the room. It was as large as my bedroom at home but, it had absolutely nothing it other than the bed and couch. Looking back at Jace, I've noticed that he has started bouncing his leg, filling the would be silence with the sound of his combat boot's heel hitting the concrete floor.
"Where are we?" I ask him trying to take in whatever was happening. He stops tapping his foot as he looks up at me, "Well, we are in an old laboratory that was made into a military camp nearly eight years ago." He said leaning back into the couch, "What about everyone else? Is it only you and I?!" I asked frantically as the thought of losing more people I love scared me. Jace quickly got out of his seat and held up his hands trying to calm me, "Hey! They're here too, it's alright. Emma and Jackie are down the hall, Nick and Alex are in medical, and everyone else is with a friend of mine." His words calmed me and even made me happy to know that Alex somehow didn't die.
"What about my father...?" I asked quietly. At first, I'm not sure if he heard me as he just stared at me, but what he said next shocked me, "We left his body back home." He said dropping his arms to his sides. I stared at him, my shock quickly becoming a rage, "Why the fuck would you leave him there!? Just to rot!?" I scream at him making him back up a bit, "Calm down! I know what you're going through is tough but-" I quickly cut him off, "No! You don't fucking know! You have no fucking idea what pain I feel right now!" I yell stomping towards him as I slowly start seeing red. Jace stops backing away and starts yelling as well, "Will you shut the fuck up and let me talk!?"
This sends me over the edge as I slug him in the face dropping him to the ground. However, he doesn't stay there long as he jumps back onto his feet. He moves quickly as he moves back down getting in a three-point position and sweeping my legs out from under me faster than I could react. He stands back up as my ass hits the floor, "You don't think I've experienced loss! That I haven't lost someone I love!" He yells with fury looking down at me, "My father was taken from me!!! He got cancer 4 years ago when he and I moved into town!" He starts pacing the room while roughly grabbing his head in anger, "When he was in the hospital, his asshole of a son didn't visit him, not even when he received panicked calls from his father asking him to just see him on more time b-before he-!" Jace crashed onto the couch still holding his head as his voice cracked and he sobbed.
I sit there shocked as I see my normally calm and held together friend starts breaking down, showing me a side I never expected to see from him. I sit upon the ground, not knowing what to say to the friend I punched not a moment ago as he starts releasing what he has seemingly locked away for a long time, "Why didn't whatever god is up there kill me instead? W-why didn't he kill the depressed a-asshole w-who hurts the people around h-him...?" He said as he continued to sob as tears drenched the fur under his eyes.
As Jace continues to sob, I think about my own father. He had always been there for me, no matter what struggle I was going through he was at my back and call. Suddenly, I realize that I was crying as well. I look back at Jace as he chuckled, "Y'know, I was put in here to try and help you through the loss of your father. I guess I'm doing a pretty shit job, aren't I?" He asked as he got up from the couch and moved towards the door, pressing a button on the panel next to it causing it to open up. Before walking out, he looks back to me, "I'm sorry we couldn't bring your father. But, he will be buried back home. Whenever you feel up to it, Anthony Price would like to speak to you. Just ask any of the guards and they'll direct you to him..." He says still wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt. After his last words, he quickly leaves the room, shutting it behind him.

While Jace goes to an unknown part of the lab and (Y/n) sits in his room, the girls sit in a large waiting room area as Anthony greets them for the first time.
Melissa Pov
After landing in this strange base, we've been put into a large waiting room with people who were also evacuated. These people consisted of many students from our school who I didn't really know along with some adults I've seen around town now and then. However, a few faces stood out from the crowd.
The first face I see is that of one of the newer teachers at our school, Charlotte Perkins. I don't know her personally but, (Y/n) has told me that she's been pretty physical and has taken a liking to him during class, even pressing her body against him.
Standing next to her was another of the newer teachers, out swim instructor and ex-military, Jasmine Stone. I know her on a more personal level from... last night's events. But, that's a story for another time. It's obvious that she finds (Y/n) attractive as she didn't waste any time fucking him in the pool after school but, she really does seem to love him...
I do one more quick sweep of the room, looking for any more familiar faces. Unfortunately, I find someone, but that someone is Kathy Sharp. You don't need to really know her to tell that she's a bitch, her expensive clothes and arrogant tone is enough to make anyone hate her. Although, she did act very out of character when she found (Y/n) and Jasmine "in the act"...
Before I can look for any additional faces, the Hyena from this morning appears on the stage, catching everyone's attention for a speech of some sort.
"Hello everyone! Sorry for the horrible conditions which brought us together but I do have some good news to start off!" The Hyena says enthusiastically from the front of the room, "As of today, the RPA is taking in new recruits to man this laboratory. We have three main units consisting of General Training which will teach you everything you need to know to become a soldier, the Special Ops where you will train in using small firearms and lightweight gear to infiltrate enemy lines, and finally, the Medical Unit that will teach you advanced medical techniques that could save both your friends and your own lives." He says pointing to each unit's insignia as he presents them. A shark skeleton breaking out of a cage represents the basic training for some reason. The Special Ops makes more sense as a dagger and pistol cross each other over a triangle. Then, there is the basic red cross representing the Med Unit.
"Unfortunately, that leads me to the bad news..." He says sadly while scratching the back of his neck, "Because of the small size of our lab, we have been restricted to housing RPA units only. This means, if you're not apart of one of the aforementioned branches or another important miscellaneous unit, you will be removed from the facility and brought to a civilian camp. So, does anyone have any questions?" He asked, looking at each of our faces hoping we understood what he had just said. It doesn't take long for Kathy's arm to shoot up into the air. I expect one of her usual snotty remarks, but, she quietly asks about being able to see her family if she were to apply.
I stare at her in shock, she has never acted this way and seems rather frightened about everything going on. Then again, who wouldn't?
My thoughts are interrupted by Anthony answering her question, "Yes, those of you who do apply for a position will be able to visit your families in the civilian camps. But, you will only be able to go to the camp during scheduled times which have yet to be discussed." He says, looking through a packet of papers I hadn't noticed until now. After looking at a few papers and the audience being quiet, Anthony looks back at the audience, "Alright, under the assumption that no one has any more questions, we will start dividing you into two groups." He says as two doors beside him open up remotely, "If you wish to apply for a position in any of the units provided above me, please go through this door and make a line for the guard in the room. As for everyone else, please go through this door and board the helicopters outside." He says pointing to each door respectively.
I move to go through the door to sign up for the basic training, refusing to leave (Y/n) alone, but, I'm stopped by Anthony who pulls me off to the side. He brings me through a third door, away from the large groups, and to a quiet area, "Sorry for pulling you away." He starts while flipping through the notes before suddenly activating his watch, which became a holographic display, "But, after speaking with Jackie earlier she told me that you had brought (Y/n) home last night. Is this correct?" He asks glancing at me to see my response. After seeing my nod, he starts typing away at the display, "Good, that means you were with him last night as well?" He asks, not bothering to look at me as if he already knew the answer. Once again, I confirm this as he gives a slight chuckle.
But, he caught me off guard with his next question, "So... After performing a diagnostic on (Y/n), we found surprising amounts of alcohol in his system. Do you know why this is?" He asks casually, turning the display to show me the data they've collected.

Guess that story will be coming sooner than Mellisa thought. What did happen last night? Not just for (Y/n) but for me. The last thing I remember was taking a swig from the drink a beautiful lady bought me in the club and then it's all hazy... What? Just because I'm a gentleman doesn't mean I cannot partake in such activities!
(Welp, as you heard, the next chapter will be filling in the blank from the end of the first book to the beginning of this one. Although, it might take two chapters, who knows?)
