A Fight For What's Right

Faith glared at the old man. "Who the hell are you?!" She shouted at him.

The man laughed. "My name is Ghetsis. I am leading the Grunts in this area." He sent out a Hydregion. "I challenge you to a Pokemon battle."

"You don't want to do this, Grandpa!" The man glared at her.

"What a rude child. But no matter, I will defeat you and liberate your Pokemon myself."

Faith laughed. "HA!!! As if."

The battle ended in Faith's and Scarab's defeat.

"Allow Team Rainbow Rocket to liberate your Pokemon or face my wrath."

"Imma go get Bea. They'll regret messing with us when she gets involved," Faith whispered to Scarab.

Scarab nodded. "So I just need to keep him busy... Think I got it."

Faith ran off.

"Bea!!! Bea..." Faith crashed through the door of her house. She kept running towards her room until her sister grabbed her, looking alarmed. "What's wrong?!" Bea asked.

"I'll explain later. Just- follow me!" Faith dragged her along.

She led Bea to the place where she had been. Scarab was unconscious.

Faith gasped, turning the attention of several Grunts on her. Ghetsis smiled evilly.

"So you enlisted the help of one of this town's Gym Leaders. How sweet. But... I think we've been at this long enough. Hydregion! Use Dark Pulse!"

Bea saw the attack aimed towards her. She tried to block it with her still-healing arm, but instead, heard a loud crack and felt a lot of pain. "Aghhh, it hurts!!!" She grabbed her arm.

"Weak." Ghetsis grinned evilly.

"Shut the hell up!" Bea glared at him.

"Bea!!! Are you..." Faith ran up to her and saw her curled up around her arm. "Bea, your arm! It's broken!"

"Well, it's been fun, but... It's time for me to go. Hydregion! Retreat!" Ghetsis retrieved his Hydregion.

As they ran off, Faith inspected the injury on her sister's arm. "It looks really bad... 's gotta be fractured at the least."

Bea's face fell, and Faith hugged her gently. She knew how much being a Gym Leader mattered to Bea. "It's going to be okay."

Bea nodded. "I-I know..."

Scarab stirred next to them. "Huh?"

"Are you okay? What happened?" Faith asked him.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I- oh crap. Are my Pokemon all okay?" He checked the Poke Balls on his belt. "Damn those Grunts!"

"What did they do?!"

"My Durant is missing!" His eyes were filled with anger.

"I'm confused. Why do they want other people's Pokemon?" Faith frowned.

"No clue," Scarab replied.

"We need to stop them," Bea said.

"Are you kidding me?! You have a broken arm. I don't know if I should let you come along," Faith told her.

"B-but... I want to help," Bea complained.

"You have helped us. I think you should rest. I will ask you if you want to come along later." Faith smiled.

"Fine..." Bea sighed.

"Bea. I know you can do this. You're a strong person. I know you will pull through."

"And I know that you're stronger and braver than I could ever hope to be. I've always known that. I love you."

"I love you, too." Faith hugged her, feeling tears coming to her eyes. "I'm gonna be back soon. I promise."

Faith left with Scarab to go tell Kabu about what had happened. She didn't know how to feel. Should she feel happy and flattered over what Bea had told her? Should she feel scared and worried about her sister's injury? Or should she feel nervous about making a journey without her sister for the first time since she had moved away from the region she had grown up in: Alola?

These were all very conflicting emotions that bounced around Faith's head and collided with each other. She was  thinking, trying to sort her feelings out like a real Gym Leader, when a young, dark-haired boy wrapped his arms around her and started sobbing.

"Allister!!!"
