Huge Time skip- Lukas's POV
Today was the day we would meet Jess at the portal.
Well.... the day I would meet Jess at the portal.
The others were either too busy or insisted that Jess didn't need a walk home.
But I wanted to surprise her.
It turns out that she had stayed much longer that she had planned, and the period of time just so happened to be two months.
Two.
Whole.
Months.
She was supposed to come back in mid January- but it was now the middle of February.
Even though Jess and I haven't seen each other in what felt like forever- our relationship has grown.
We went from texting or calling every few days to face timing every night.
I really wanted to do something special for her- and couldn't wait until I got to see her again.
Every night when we called- when her beautiful face lit up on the screen.... I couldn't help but smile.
I paused in front of the portal, waiting patiently.
...Even though this last bit of waiting was killing me.
I missed her- and not for the reason you'd think.
I missed her smile, and her laugh.... and the way her eyes lit up when she talked.
I couldn't wait to see her again.
Checking my phone, i saw that it was getting late.
It was almost five thirty... and it was getting dark really fast.
...I'm glad I came back for Jess. I know she can handle herself, but I wouldn't be able to bear it if something were to happen to her.
Suddenly, the portal burst to life- sputtering blue sparks around its golden frame.
Jess walked through, her eyes settling on me.
Jess' POV
As soon as I walked through the portal- he was waiting for me.
He did his adorable half smile, his eyes lighting up.
Before I knew it, I had ran to him.
Lukas's POV
She stood still for a second, but then ran towards me.
She hugged me tight, starting to cry.
"L-LUKAS!" She screamed. "I-I've... been missing you..."
I hugged her back, smiling.
"I've missed you too, cupcake."
She hiccuped in my arms, and I couldn't believe she was home.
Jess was home...
"Jess... what's the matter?" I teased. "Not happy to be home?"
She laughed.
"I... I'm just so overwhelmed at the fact that i get to see you again, and i.... I've just missed you so much, Lukas."
She pulled away from me, her face streaked with tears.
I looked outside the temple, seeing that it had gotten dark outside.
Purely dark.
"Uh.... are we going out?" Asked Jess, taking out her sword. "Because it looks terrifying out there."
I forced a smile, taking out my stone sword.
"The others will freak out if we don't go home. We'll just try our best to hurry."
Jess grabbed my hand, leading me out of the temple.
We continued to walk forward, Jess still leading me through the trees.
...
At first, it was like she was dragging me- but then it got to the point where we were just holding hands, walking through the terrifyingly  quiet forest on the middle of the darkness.
Everything was going okay- until I heard a rattling sound.
"Lukas?" Asked Jess, her eyes darting around. "What's that? Is there a skeleton here?"
"I think so. Just don't move."
I scanned the forest, trying to see any of the skeleton's bright white body.
Right as I saw a glimpse of white- I saw the thing pull back its arrow.
Without thinking, I shoved Jess to the side, keeping her from getting hit.
I ran to the thing, killing it-
But now before it shot an arrow into my shoulder.
I gasped in pain, but struck the creature down, Jess finishing it off.
She popped off its head with the tip of her sword, turning to face me.
Her eyes widened, looking scared.
Jess' POV
I looked at the arrow on his shoulder, freaking out.
"LUKAS! YOUR SHOULDER!"
He forced a smile, a red stain growing beneath his shirt.
"I'm fine, Jess. It shouldn't be..... too bad."
He winced, and I grabbed his hand once more.
"We are going to get you medical help!" I snapped. "I'm just not gonna let an arrow sit in your shoulder!"
"Jess.... it really doesn't hurt that bad. In fact, it actually feels... numb."
That freaked me out.
"Lukas, stop saying words that worry me." I growled, slicing vines out of our way.
"But I like hearing your voice...." he objected. "It's calming."
I smiled.
Time skip- Jess' POV
"He's gonna be okay.... right?" I asked.
Ivor nodded, gripping the arrow in his hands.
"Okay, Lukas." Sighed Ivor. "I'm going to pull the arrow out. Feel free to scream, just try not to yell in my ear."
Without warning, Ivor tugged on the arrow.
Lukas yelped, his shock immediately suppressed by pain.
He groaned, Ivor still tugging on the arrow.
Finally, the arrow came out of his shoulder, covered in blood.
Lukas was pale, looking terrified.
"You're okay, Lukas." Huffed Ivor, taking a potion of regeneration and pouring a drop onto the open wound. "It could have been much worse. The creature was aiming for your heart."
I never noticed it, but the arrow was inches from his chest- right above his heart.
Lukas looked at me, a smirk on his face.
"What?" I laughed.
Lukas's POV-
Even though my shoulder stung, all I could think about was how I didn't get to show Jess her present.
"Nothing." I smirked. "You just make me smile."
I saw Ivor glare at us, but he didn't say anything.
He just muttered something about kids and love under his breath, storming out of the room.
Jess' POV-
I feel really bad about not staying behind.
Two months without Lukas.
I.... missed him so much.
And not in the way you'd think.
I missed his adorable dorky smile. I've missed his bubbly laugh. I.... I've just missed him.
People say that it's stupid to love someone so much after being with them for such a short time....
His sky blue eyes shone as the saw me.
But they don't know how much trust you can put into a person.
You know..... it's been over two months since you and Lukas kissed....
We were standing right next to each other..... nobody was here.
Now could be the perfect time to kiss him... by i feel like I shouldn't do it now.
"Hey.... Lukas?" I asked.
"Yep."
He fingered with his bandages.
"Uh.... do you think that.... I don't know.... uh... maybe... you'd like to.. k-MMPH!"
Lukas kissed me.
He put his arms around me, and I pulled him close, not wanting this to end.
I can't believe I almost forgot what he tasted like.
Suddenly, I heard glass shatter.
Lukas and broke apart slowly, checking out what had happened.
We were still in the same position as before, except we weren't kissing.
Just in this awkward hug- but it was obvious that we were kissing before.
All I could see was the shocked faces of Ivor, Petra, Jesse, Olivia, and Axel- as they stood in the doorway.
I knew they were shocked.
Before they could say another word- I pulled Lukas in for another kiss-
Giving my friends a 'one finger salute' as I did.
