Lukas's POV
I couldn't help but smile as Jess and I parted ways.
...something about her, just... makes me feel... different.
..I don't know what it is- but... hm. I can't describe it.
I passed by the hub, the cold air nipping at my face and arms.
Wait- it's almost Christmas.
It's literally December first.
...what will I get Jess for Christmas?
Jess' POV
I had just sat down on my bed-
When my phone buzzed.
And not surprisingly... it was a text from Olivia.
O: have you gotten Lukas a Christmas present yet?
J: ?olivia, I plan to... just not right this second.
O: whatever, Jess. Just remember that Lukas probably has the best gift in the world for you!
I could honestly care less about presents. I... I just want to... spend time with Lukas on Christmas.
I dropped my phone back down on the bed, walking out of he room.
Olivia can wait. I've got better matters to take care of.
I walked into the kitchen, taking a long look at my pantry.
It looked like I had all the ingredients to make sugar cookies, and I know just the person who'd want to help make them with me.
I walked out of the room again, picking up my phone.
I stared at it, my finger hovering over the send button for my message.
No. you don't want Lukas to think... that you're too clingy. That's the last thing you want.... just wait. You... can wait to see him.
Lukas's POV
A: Lukas! You've got to get Jess a Christmas present!
L: well I'm sorry I don't have a present for her after I just asked for her to be my girlfriend.
Axel didn't reply for a while.
The next time he texted me was twenty minutes later.
A: you... never told us that you and Jess had started dating.
L: Axel... I thought somebody told you. After all, you wouldn't stop bugging me about her.
A: I'm her older brother... well... step brother. And she didn't tell me! And neither did you!!
L: please, stop. I know you're overprotective of Jess, but I promise you- I will let NOTHING happen to her.
A: ...I still don't approve.
L: you sound like her dad, Axel. I said I'd take good care of her.
A: ..fine.. I trust you.
L: thanks, Axel.
A: But I won't hesitate to visit you in the hospital after your "accident" if you hurt Jess.
L: ... I promise I'll take care of her.
A: you better.
L: ... see you around?
A: ...sure.
I opened Jess' contact, seeing her picture.
It was taken on the day of EnderCon, right before Aiden had set their creation on fire. The shot was focused mainly on Jess, her brother and the rest of their team standing a small distance from her.
...I still don't know how I managed to get this shot.
Would Jess want to hang out? I mean, I know we're dating... but... I just don't want to seem clingy. Really...
wait! I still haven't figured out what to get her for Christmas!
I pressed the call button, the phone ringing.
O: Lukas? What are you doing?
L: Olivia! I... just wanted to know what Jess might want for Christmas... I... *sigh* just don't know what to get her.
O: well, you've called the right person. I know anything and everything about almost anyone, and considering the fact that Jess has been my bestie for like... forever- I know just what she'd want for Christmas!
L: can you please tell me?
O: okay, okay- relax! I'll tell you!
L: good.
O: Jess really doesn't have a preference. She liked all gifts, but she really likes heartfelt ones- like something that you genuinely worked hard to make or get... but she never lets anybody give her anything expensive.
So... that doesn't help me at all.
O: you could get her a-
L: THANKS OLIVIA!
I know exactly what I'm going to give her.
O: w-wait! Lukas, what are you-
L: you helped a lot... hope to see you around! Bye!
O: o-okay... bye...
I hung up the phone, super excited about what I would get Jess.
