Chapter 10
The bell rang loudly indicating that recess time was over. 'Should I really talk to him. Ugh why did Jaehyun talk to me, now that he talked about it I am more bothered and concerned.' Nara thought biting on her lower lip. 'Ugh I'll just say it's all okay and end this!' She took a deep breath before walking towards Taeyong's seat not knowing he wasn't there. Awkwardly moving away before anybody noticed, she looked around to see whether he was in the class. 'Where is he? Recess time is over though.' She thought as her footsteps lead her out of the classroom, searching for him. "I could just talk to him when I meet him again but why am I so worried and looking for him. God knows what's wrong with me now, I hope I am not having one sided feelings for him again." She ran to the rooftop, talking to herself looking like a total fool. She was so sure that he'd be there because that's where students like him goes whenever they wants to ditch classes.
"You are so useless in our team, that's why I kicked you out. Why are you complaining about that now?" -Yungho
"Oh, or maybe because the coach decided I'd be the next captain and you got butthurt about it since you wanted to remain as the captain." -Taeyong
"Anyway, stay away from Nara. You're not her worthy." -Yungho.
Nara's jaw dropped. She wasn't eavesdropping and she was in major distress. Hearing footsteps towards the door, she hurriedly hid herself before one of them witnessed that she has been standing there listening to half of the conversation they had. As soon as one of them left, she walked in to see Taeyong sitting on the railing edge, facing the opposite side from the rooftop.
"Taeyongah, Don't!" Nara screamed, startling Taeyong. "Please don't jump. Do you want ice cream? Green tea flavor? Vanilla? I'll buy you any type of ice cream you want so come down." She kept on screaming and Taeyong played along. "What if..what if I jump? will you miss me?" He talked in a miserable tone, his face fixed into a sad expression. "Ya Lee Taeyong. Please don't jump. I've missed you so much already, I barely see you in class or school now. So come down and let's talk because I am not mad at you." To this, his face lightened up brighter than the sun as he got off from the railing and ran towards her. "Really? You missed me?" Taeyong talked like a little boy who was expecting for a positive answer. Nara was confused and dumbfounded for a while thinking he was about to suicide by jumping from there. "Ya!, I thought you were gonna jump." She kicked his leg and Taeyong hissed in pain. "Jump? Why'd I jump, I'm not that stupid. So you were worried about me?" He was still excited and happy. "You'll never change will you? Why did I even decide to talk things out. I'm gonna go to class, enjoy the view and the breeze. Bye." She was just about to leave until Taeyong grabbed her wrist. "Don't go." He said softly. "Don't go Nara, let's talk." Taeyong's expression was soft and Nara knew it was not a prank just by looking at his eyes.
"I'm still very sorry." -Taeyong
"I know, Jaehyun talked to me." -Nara
"What?! what the hell did he say?" -Taeyong
"Calm down, he just said that you are very distant from them and that you were genuinely feeling bad about it." -Nara
"Oh...yeah that's true ehe." -Taeyong
"Why? is there something I don't know?" -Nara
"Nope Nope, That's all" -Taeyong
"It's okay. I'm sorry for being rude as well. Just, can you stop doing those now. I remember how you used to be Taeyong. We weren't in the same class and I wasn't a noticeable student of course but then I've known you since middle school. You were pretty popular because of your good grades and good manners but then, now its the opposite?" -Nara
"Thankyou a lot for accepting my apology and I won't do those again, and yeah hahaha, I'm the opposite of what I used to be. Isn't that just amazing. I don't even know how I turned out to be this rebellious and disrespectful. The teachers also lost all the respect for me. How absurd." -Taeyong
He was looking at the sky as he talked and Nara's eyes were on him. She realized how much he missed who he was and how sad he was talking about it. Just then, the conversation between Yungho and Taeyong flashed to her mind. She wanted to ask about it but she thought he'd transform into the beast again and leave just like he did before. "Taeyong-ah" Her voice was soft, but loud enough for him to hear. Taeyong answered with a 'hm' and continued looking at the clear blue sky. "Can I ask you a question? but please don't get too sensitive." She decided to ask as he nodded taking his eyes off the sky. "Why do you hate Yungho? I mean, you guys were very good friends back then." It was the same question she asked before. Taeyong took a deep breath and turned away for a while, leaving them both in awkward silence. "I'm sorry for asking..I'm going to class." She broke the silence and stood up to leave. "Yungho...he isn't what you think he is. He's very cunning and capable of anything if he wants to betray someone. I hope you don't become a victim as well, don't hangout with him too much." She stopped as he answered her question. She was about to ask 'why' but Taeyong interrupted her. "Class? Half of the period is over so let's just roam around. Missing one class won't hurt." He insisted. "Roam around? us? Haah. We aren't even friends so forget it." She went along, avoiding the 'Yungho' topic. "Well you said you'll buy me any type of ice cream I want so that makes us friends now. Let's go Nara!" He beamed in excitement and wrapped his arms around her shoulder, bringing her closer to him. Nara's eyes widened and she felt her cheeks grow hotter and redder. Hoping Taeyong won't notice, she faked a laugh and walked with him as she had no idea on what else to do.
'Well, we could be friends then I guess. He doesn't seem that bad.'
