hi everyone! i recently finished reading the be more chill book, and i have some things to say about it.this does, of course, contain spoilers for both the be more chill book and the musical. if you want to avoid spoilers, don't read this.first of all, the characters changed drastically between the musical and the book.let's start with jeremy. book jeremy is crass, obsessed with masturbating, and pretty insensitive tbh. in one instance he was jerking off and michael called and he didn't stop or anything? also at the Halloween party he did ecstasy.book michael is, as most of you have heard, awful. he is and i quote "a skinny white boy with a white boy afro" and he's pretty rude to Jeremy up until the last third of the book, which is where you can start seeing more of the character he presents in the musical. he also only dates asians.book jenna, once again, knows everyone's business before they do, but she's rich and stuck up. she's also obsessed with her friend elizabeth's slutty move of the day.book christine is just a flat-out ass. she punched jeremy in the arm, called jake a dick while he was in the hospital, and called jeremy a loser in the middle of the play. also, she had a precedent set of how every relationship should go and... she was bad.book mr reyes is pretty nice for the most part? it's expressly stated in the book tho that he doesn't have any facial hair. also he does falsetto warmups in the middle of his directions. he was pretty rude about taking jeremy's part in the play.book chloe didn't change much. she was among the three most popular girls in school and wore a sexy tiger outfit to the Halloween party and then fucked her ex to make him be more chill.book brooke is like slutty to the max believe it or not. she got a nipple piercing that ended up getting infected and almost let jeremy lick it. she is still the nicest popular girl tho, although she isn't in the top three.book rich is basically the same between the musical and the book but he basically always has a girl licking his belly button in the book........... also he threw an ashtray at jeremy (not to be mean he was just being himself i love him)book jake is a sex god. he had sex with a model from czechoslovakia who was dating his dad at the time. also he and christine had this weird relationship but then jake fucked katrina in this one room and rich and jeremy and like 25 other guys were recording it...4the book squip is the purest most precious innocent baby you will ever see. okay that's not true. the squip actually turned out to be DEFECTIVE and you will see why in a moment.okay now for the plot.in the book, jeremy stole his aunt's beanie babies to get enough money for a squip. also he smoked pot at school and almost gave a chocolate Shakespeare to christine but it melted.the only important thing from the book is the play. the drama club was putting on a midsummer night's dream and jeremy had the squip on to help him remember his lines. beforehand, the squip told him to stop the play in the middle of one of christine's lines. he was supposed to ask her out and then kiss her in front of everyone.okay so this didn't end up working. turns out the squip was DEFECTIVE so christine actually didn't let jeremy kiss her and then called him a loser on stage. mr reyes kicked him out of the play and he was outside crying and then michael showed up.jeremy was talking about the squip, which had shut down during the play, and he said "usually i just have to say startup-"and the squip started up!!!!!jeremy was basically yelling at it and then it was like "well you could try writing a letter to fix things with christine. we could do a data dump and i could write it easy."so!!!!!!!!!!!!! then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! jeremy was like "okay, what about you?"and it was like "i'll be unstable after a data dump, even more so than i am now. you'll have to get rid of me.":<so then part three of the book, entitled post-squip, contained one line.I wrote a book instead, so here you go, Christine.
