(Tsurugi's POV)

I slightly flinched as the nurse applied medicine on my bruised cheek. We are at the emergency section and luckily Nii-san did not see us. Lest he be worried about me.

"Hey," (Y/n) gently said as she sat next to me. "Thanks for being there for me back there."

I looked at her and tried to curve my lips into a smile but unfortunately it turned to a smirk. (Gin: LoL. Tsurugi: Stop making fun of me 😒 Gin: Sarree..)

I tried again.

Smile.

That's better.

It has been a few months since I've fallen for (Y/n) and after hearing her story about how she was adopted by an insane scientist, I felt more motivated to protect her from any harm.

There's one thing I'm worried though. What if she's already in love with Tenma? Then I don't stand a chance.

When the nurse left, I thought it would be the right time to tell her how I feel.

Screw being rejected. I'll just tell her.

"(Y/n)..." I began.

"Yes Tsurugi?" she looked up to me.

"There's something I want to tell you... Y-you know, you are a very important person for me. A-and I want you to know that... I will do anything to keep you safe."

I closed my eyes and waited for her to say something like I must be acting weird (or a little OOC) but to my surprise, she didn't. Instead, she took my hand.

"Thanks Tsurugi," she said. "I'm lucky to have friends like you and Tenma." (Gin: Friendzoned! Tsurugi: 😑 Tenma: 😥 )

So she treats us no more than a friend.

I leaned and kissed her forehead before looking into her eyes.

Her cheeks flushed red at my actions. I wish we could be more than friends.

"More than friends?" she asked.

I mentally facepalmed. "I said that aloud didn't I?"

(Y/n) stared at me wide-eyed and said, "I'm sorry Tsurugi. But I'm happy to be friends with you. And not more than that."

I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces. But I understand her.

"It's okay, (Y/n). Just remember that I will always be here for you."

I took her hand. "Thanks Tsurugi."

"(Y/n) are you alri---- Tsurugi?" Tenma came into the emergency section panting and he had a shocked look when he saw me with (Y/n).

He gulped. Then ran away.

(Y/n) stood up and ran after Tenma.

I sighed.

(Your POV)

You ran after Tenma who immediately fled after seeing you and Tsurugi.

"Tenma! M-matte!" you said as you ran through the halls.

He stopped then turned to you. "(Y/n)... I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry? What's wrong?"

"I'm sorry for disturbing you and Tsurugi."

"What? But we're not doing anything."

After you've told him what happened Tenma felt a bit relieved.

"Why are you acting this way?" you asked.

"Isn't it obvious (Y/n)? I like you. More than a friend. But I think it's impossible for you to like me back."

You looked down. "Tenma... I..."

He smiled at you. "It's okay, (Y/n)."

Then he left.

Your stepfather is now in jail thus you went back to live in your house and things went back to normal.

However, during the passed time, you had seen yourself falling in love with one of your teammates. And today, you plan to tell that person.

You asked Tenma to meet you alone after soccer practice. You made some soccer-shaped cookies for him that day since you're pretty good in baking.

He looked nervous when he met up with you and you were amused at his actions.

"(Y/n)? What's wrong?" he asked.

"Nothing's wrong. I made soccer-shaped cookies for you."

He looked around him, making sure you were talking to him. "T-to me?"

"Yup," you smiled and handed him the box.

"Th-thanks (Y/n). But why?"

"It's my way of showing how much I love you."

Tenma scratched his head. "Ah yes, I know."

"No. I love you just the way you love me."

He looked up to you and blinked his eyes profusely. Then he slapped his face.

You flinched back, "okay? Now that was a little weird."

He instantly hugged you close and yelled, "I'm not dreaming! (Y/n) is in love with me! (Y/n) is in love with meeeeeh!!!"

You shushed him. "Q-quiet!"

"Sorry!" Tenma said in a whisper before putting his lips on yours.

You knew Tsurugi was going to visit his brother that afternoon so you planned to meet him at the hospital. You also made a healthy fruit salad for him and his brother since you're pretty good at making desserts.

When Tsurugi saw you at the hospital's entrance, he was surprised.

"(Y/n)?"

"H-hi, Tsurugi. I was just going to visit your brother and give you this."

He raised a brow and showed you a confused look, since you had never visited his brother before.

"Sorry for doing this out of the blue... But, it's the least that I can do for the guy who has been there for me to protect me and the guy whom I love more than a friend."

"My brother?!" Tsurugi suddenly blurted out.

"Eh? N-no of course not! I mean, your brother's brother. N-no, uhm, I mean you---"

You were cut-off by Tsurugi who smashed his lips on yours and after a little hesitation, you kissed him back.

"You have no idea how I longed to do that," Tsurugi said after you broke the kiss.

Then with held hands, you both went inside.

Tenma: so kawaii!!!
