Engaged ~ Yuuichi x Reader
Yuuichi: Good day, reader-chan ^_^
Gin: Thank you for this opportunity, Yuuichi-kun.
Yuuichi: You're most welcome :)
Kyousuke: Nii-san, why are you here?
Gin: This is his story. It should be him who should ask you why you're here.
Kyousuke: I'm not talking to you.
Gin: (-_-)
Yuuichi: I'm here to make reader-chan happy.
Kyousuke: **sighs, frowns, crosses arms, looks away**
Gin: Anyway, I've set this part during the time after Yuuichi-kun's surgery so basically, he can actually walk now here :)..Let's begin~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Yuuichi's POV)
"HHWHHAAAAT?!!" Kyousuke blurted out in front of my face almost making me fly backwards.
"Yeap," I said. "That's what mom and dad said."
"And you're okay with it?!!!"
"Well, honestly, no."
"Did you tell them it's not okay with you?!"
"No."
"HHHWWWHYYY?!"
"I don't know."
"Ugghh..." Kyousuke dropped his face on his hands and gave out a frustrated sigh. I just told him the shocking news that mom and dad told me. Well, I was already expecting Kyousuke to be surprised, but I wasn't expecting him to be more surprised than I am.
"Nii-san... what are you getting yourself into?" Kyousuke finally asked after a moment.
I sighed for I don't know the answer to that. Today I'm going to meet her. I had so many questions like, what would she be like? Where is she from? Mom and dad just had me engaged to someone I don't know yet.
(Y/N's POV)
Beeep-beeep!
I honked my car at the motorist in front of me. The light has already turned green and the driver I'm next to does not move a bit. I don't wanna be late for my appointment with Mr. and Mrs. Tsurugi.
Well, I was just surprised today when my parents told me that their business partners, the Tsurugis, had agreed together with them to have me engaged to their son. I mean, why do they always decide for me?
My parents had me take up a bachelor's degree of their choice. Dad says it's what is best for me and that it would be a big help for our company once I finish college. And yeah, I am now one of his employees. It's fine I guess, for I live a not really as a very rich one but I could say I'm living a good and comfortable life.
But for them to decide in choosing the person I should be engaged with? That's way too far. I have to decide for myself even just once. Especially now that we're dealing with my personal life.
I have to set this right. I have to tell my parents as well as the Tsurugis that I'm turning the engagement down. I'm pretty sure that their son, whoever the heck he is, also feels the same way as me.
As soon as I parked my car at the building which Mom and Dad told me I would meet my supposed-to-be engagement partner, my phone rang.
"Hello?" I said as soon as I answered it.
"Hey, sweetie. I just called to check how you were doing. Have you met Tsurugi-kun?" it's my Mom.
"No, mom. I just got to the building you told me."
"Did you wear something nice?"
"Uhh... I'm wearing a casual outfit?"
"Okay, but does it look nice?"
I sighed. "Mom, I don't think that really matters..."
"Of course it does! You have to impress Tsurugi-kun!"
"What? No! I'm not here to impress anybody... Mom, I'm turning the engagement down..."
"Nani? What are you talking about?"
"I actually went here to make things clear for them. I don't want to be engaged to Tsurugi whoever he is."
"But, sweetie..."
"I'm very sorry, Mom. Call you later," after that I hang up.
I made my way to the building. Okay, here goes.
(Yuuichi's POV)
I patiently waited at the café for the girl I'm to be engged with. This is not right at all. I hate to say it, but this is no different than a blind date. I have a feeling that she feels the same way as I do. Well, I couldn't go back to the office now. She'll be here any moment.
I saw the café door open and a girl about my age entered. That must be her. She looked around the café. She's wearing a casual outfit that suited her. Wow, she's flawless. I sipped my coffee and waited at the table as she approached me.
"Ohayo," she greeted. "I'm looking for someone named Tsurugi? Did you happen to know him?"
"Ohayo. That would be me," I responded as I gently smiled at her.
"Oh, that's great. Hi, Tsurugi," she took a seat across me. "I'm (L/N)(F/N)."
"I'm Tsurugi Yuuichi. Nice to meet you."
"Yeah, nice to meet you too. So, uhm..." she began. I knew it. The look in her eyes simply meant that she felt the same way as I do. "I honestly never saw this coming..."
"Me neither," I said. I could see how distressed she felt so I tried diverting to another topic. "Anyway, your parents are really good friends with mine."
"That's right. They're pretty close... by the way, if you don't mind, do you work here?"
"Yes. For more than three years now."
"Wow. I guess we're the same. I also work at my dad's company for three years now."
"That's cool," I said, not really knowing what to say next.
"By the way, the reason why I really met you here, is that, I want to be honest with you."
I knew she would say that.
She continued, "I'm very sorry Tsurugi, but, I don't think I could say yes to this planned engagement."
"I understand. I feel the same way."
She looked down and avoided my eyes.
"Are you doing something today?" I said out of nowhere. I really thought I could at least help her feel better a bit.
"Uhm, not really," she said, still not looking at me.
"Well, how about we go on a tour around this building? So you could see what we got here, since your company is partners with us. And uhh, since we're both decided that we will not pursue the engagement, I'll at least show you around. I'm quite sure I won't see you again after this."
She looked surprised by what I said. Oh, had I said it a bad time?
"Okay, sure," she said and I felt relieved. "That would be great. Thank you."
I stood up and offered to lead the way for her. "Shall we?"
"Alright."
I led her around the building and showed her what's there to see. We then proceeded to my office.
"This is my office, by the way."
"Wow, it's amazing and spacious..." she said, her eyes looking around.
"Thanks."
She glanced at the pictures I had on the wall. "You play soccer?"
"Uhuh. I do whenever I have the time."
"Uhm, if you don't mind, may I know who this is?" she pointed to one photo on the wall. "He looks like you. Are you related?"
I stood beside her to see the photo she's referring to. "Ah, that's my brother, Kyousuke. He's a forward in his soccer team at school."
"Oh. That's nice," she said and smiled at me. I looked at her and smiled back. I couldn't deny that she's beautiful and she's really a nice girl.
"Hey, Nii-san..." I hear someone enter the office. It's Kyousuke. "Uhh, is that her?"
"Oh, you must be Kyousuke?" (L/N) asked as she saw my brother.
"How the heck did you know my name?" Kyousuke frowned.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Tsurugi-kun told me."
"Uhm, (L/N), this is Kyousuke. And Kyousuke this is (L/N) (F/N)."
"Hi, nice to meet you," (L/N) said, holding out a hand to Kyousuke, but as expected, Kyousuke didn't take it.
"Where are you from and how old are you?" Kyousuke asked.
"Kyousuke," I snapped and gave him a look as if to say, 'that's not a proper way to talk to a lady.'
"Oh, we are in the same city but I work at my dad's company. I'm the same age as your brother."
"How many boyfriends have you had before my brother?"
Oh, dear... I put my hands on my waist and showed Kyousuke a disappointing look. He'll just say one more improper question or statement and I would really drag him and hide him somewhere.
"Uhh... w-well, I..." (L/N) stuttered.
Kyousuke raised a brow at her.
"I never had a boyfriend and your brother is not my boyfriend either."
Kyousuke's expressions softened a bit. "Good," he just said and went to sit on the couch.
(L/N) turned to me. "Uhm, I'm sorry Tsurugi-kun, but I have to go now," she turned to leave but I grabbed her by the arm.
"Uhh, wait, (L/N)... Can I see you again?" damn it, I couldn't help but really ask that question to her.
"Uhm..." she didn't know what to answer.
"I'm sorry about my brother."
"It's okay..."
"Can I at least get your number? So I could ask you out sometime?"
She blushed. "Oh, uhm, o-okay..." oh, that was a relief. She took out a pen and paper and wrote down her number. "Here."
"Thanks a lot. Let me escort you out of the building."
"Oh, no, it's okay. I can handle it. Thanks for showing me around..."
"But, (L/N)," I insisted.
"It's really okay, bye..." she said and left.
(Kyousuke's POV)
"Well," I said as the girl named (L/N) left my brother's office. "She's not bad at all..."
"What on earth did you do a while ago?!" my brother asked me.
I crossed my arms and closed my eyes. "I need to make sure you marry a good girl."
"Look, we both decided to turn the engagement down..."
"Really? But you like her, don't you?" I glanced at my brother and saw him look away to hide his blush. I knew it. "Why don't you just really ask her to be your girlfriend? Not as mom's and dad's decision, but as yours..."
"She already made herself clear to me. She didn't want to do this and I don't wanna force her."
"You still got her number though. I think she likes you too."
My brother sighed and slouched on his chair. He seems really disappointed.
"Anyway, why am I saying these things to you? You're already mature enough to decide for yourself. So, I'll leave you alone."
He didn't answer. He was staring blankly at the ceiling.
(Y/N's POV)
I went to my room after I finished eating dinner. I checked my phone and saw that there's someone who sent me SMS.
Unknown Number: Hi, (L/N). It's me, Yuuichi.
My heart skipped a beat. I decided to reply.
Me: Hi, Yuuichi.
Beep! Beep! Another SMS.
Yuuichi: Are you busy tomorrow?
I sat on my bed while my heart is beating fast, thinking about what to reply.
Me: Not really.
Yuuichi: Is it okay if I ask you out for dinner tomorrow night?
Me: Okay. At what time?
Yuuichi: Thanks. I'll pick you up at seven.
Me: Okay.
Another beep. I checked and it was my friend's name.
Friend: Hey (F/N)! We're going partying tomorrow night! Wanna come?
Aw, snap. I tried to think of a funny reply/excuse. I don't really feel like partying these days.
Me: I'll be spending my time in the jacuzzi. Come and get me. LoL
I laughed as I sent it. Then my phone went off. Aw, darn it... Battery's dead. I put it in its charging station before readying myself for bed.
(Time skip brought to you by Hikaru's Extend Zone again. Gin: Kariya! You okay in there? Kariya: Stop asking questions and get me out of here! *echo here-here-here*)
Next morning, I checked and opened my phone before going to work. I reread my conversation with Yuuichi last night.
Huh? I checked the name again. The last message is still sent to Yuuichi... I checked again to make sure I wasn't hallucinating......................... Fvck it, it's really Yuuichi's!
I sighed and laid back on bed. I'm doomed.
(Another freaky time skip brought to you by Hikaru's Extend Zone. Gin: Do you see the rope I sent you there? Kariya: No! Don't you have a ladder? *echo-'ladder-ladder-ladder'*)
7 PM finally came. I nervously paced back and forth as I waited for Yuuichi.
I feel anxious. Yuuichi might think that I'm really stupid after he read that Jacuzzi message last night. If only I had a time machine, I would really want to go back to last night and not send that message!
There was a knock on the door. Oh, help.
I went to open it and saw Yuuichi in a tux. He was holding a bouquet of red roses. He smiled at me. Damn it he's so gorgeous. I blushed madly as I looked at him.
"Hey, (L/N). Good evening," he began. His voice was so calm and gentle. He handed me the flowers.
"G-g-good evening..."
"You look beautiful..."
I suddenly felt self-consciousness. "Uhh, t-thanks... You look great too..."
"Thank you. Shall we?" He offered me an arm and I reluctantly took it. He led me to his car and opened the door for me.
I didn't really talk to him on the way because I still felt so embarrassed for what had happened last night.
We came to a restaurant not far from the place where I work. It was so romantic. The place was filled with tiny lights and sweet music filled the air.
He led me to a table that was only good for two people then a waiter asked for our orders.
I was staring at him the whole time. His navy blue hair really matched his gorgeous face and his gentle personality... Oh, help me...
As soon as our dinner was served, I tried to open up the topic about our conversation last night on phone.
"Uhm, Tsurugi-kun..."
"Please, call me Yuuichi."
"Oh, okay... then you can call me (F/N)."
"What is it, (F/N)?" he glanced at me still showing a gentle smile.
"Uhm, a-about last night... You know, we exchanged messages on the phone..." I looked down.
"Mhm?"
"Uhh... you know, the last message... I uhh, it wasn't meant for you, it was for a friend of mine w-who said she wanted to invite me to a p-party... I-I'm really sorry..."
He let out a short laugh. "It's okay. Actually I was a bit worried that that message was meant for me."
"Oh, uhh..." I blushed again. Screw the Jacuzzi thing...
"Anyway," Yuuichi reached for my hand and I blushed even harder. "(F/N), I want to ask you something."
"A-a-ask me what?"
He then turned to someone in the corner and signaled something. In a moment, I saw three men approach us and played sweet music with the violin.
This guy is so romantic. I leaned back on my chair to prevent myself from fainting. Yuuichi then stood up and took my hand.
"Can I have this dance?" he asked.
I was so overwhelmed that I didn't answer him yet. Instead, I stood up with him and followed him as he led me to the dance floor.
His hands were on my waist and my hands were on his broad shoulders. I wasn't looking at him as we dance but every time I take a glance at him, his eyes were fixed on me. Oh, help.
After minutes of dancing, Yuuichi stopped. He held my hands and said. "(Y/N), I know you already said no when our parents asked us to be engaged..."
"Y-Yuuichi...what are you..."
"But I can't help but tell you this. You are such an amazing lady. And I don't want you to answer my next question just because that's what our parents wanted..."
He suddenly knelt before me and I felt my heart drop with him. "Y-Yuuichi what are you doing?"
"(Y/N), I'm asking you for myself now... Will you be... my fiancee?" he showed me a box with a ring in it.
I felt my heart skip a beat. I wasn't expecting that, however I couldn't deny in my heart that I am attracted to this gentle and gorgeous person before me.
"Yes..." I almost whispered. "Yes, I will be your fiancee."
A faint blush appeared beneath his eyes. He then took the ring and put it in my finger. As soon as he stood up, he hugged me and said, "I love you, (Y/N)..."
"I love you too, Yuuichi..." I hugged him back.
He then kissed me on the forehead before holding me closer to him and kissed me on the lips.
Gin: Oh, dang it this one-shot is too long.
Kyousuke: It's your disease...
Gin: Yeah, I'm so sorry. Kyousuke, are you adopted?
Kyousuke: Of course not! What makes you say that?!
Gin: Sorry, cause you and Yuuichi-kun are so different.
Kyousuke: **snarls**
Yuuichi: **smiles gently**
Gin: Anyway, thanks again, reader-chan~! Minna, see you in the next one-shot!~ Have a good day^^
