(Your POV)

You opened your window as you hear a car stop outside. It belonged to your neighbour right next to your house and the boy next door happened to be your closest friend.

Amemiya Taiyou.

He got out from the car and as soon as he went to their house, you grabbed a marker and paper.

You used to have fun communicating with Taiyou by flashing each other with messages on papers on the windows of your rooms since Taiyou's room window happened to be across yours.

As you expected, Taiyou had run upstairs into his room and opened the window.

You immediately showed him the message you wrote on the paper:

Welcome back, Taiyou ^^

He wrote back to you:

I won't be staying home for a long time. Need to go back to hospital tomorrow :(

Your lips formed a sad curve. Taiyou has been very sickly since you had known him and you can't help but feel bad for him most of the time.

You had missed him so much that you wrote on the paper the words I miss you but as you were about to show him, he was already on the phone talking to his girlfriend.

You sighed and put the paper down. Then you closed the blinds of your window and went back to studying your lessons at school.

(Taiyou's POV)

"Yes babe, I'm home," I told my girlfriend over the phone.

"Let's go out today. I want to go shopping at the mall with you."

"Sorry babe, the doctors said it is best I stay home for the whole day since my operation is tomorrow."

"What?!" my girlfriend blurted out and I had to cover my ears. "You're only coming home today and you can't even spend a single hour with me?! Don't you love me anymore?!"

"Babe, you know that's not what I meant," I calmly said.

"Don't you 'babe' me! I'll just go out with my friends then. Bye!"

I sighed as my girlfriend hanged up. She never understands and I don't know why I'm still in a relationship with her.

I looked back at (Y/n)'s window and was about to show her what I've written on the paper but I noticed that she already closed the blinds so I just kept it.

(Your POV)

"Sweetie can you do something for me?" your mom knocked at the door of your room.

"What is it, mom?" you responded.

"I'm making a banana sundae but I just noticed that we're out of milk. Can you get some for me at the mall?"

"Sure mom," you said and stood up from your study table and left to do what your mom asked you.

When you got to the mall, you saw a guy with orange hair at the entrance.

"Taiyou? Taiyou!" you called him.

"Oi, (Y/n)," Taiyou turned his head to you.

"I didn't expect to see you here."

"Well I actually didn't have any plan to be here but... You know... My girlfriend... She got mad when I told her that the doctor advised me to stay home," he ruffled his hair. "So yeah, I don't want her to get mad so here I am."

"What?" you said surprised. "You should follow what the doctor said, not your girlfriend!" you totally regretted what you said. Who are you in his life anyway to tell him what he should do? You're just a friend who's secretly in love with a guy who already has a girlfriend. You looked away, hoping Taiyou will not get offended.

"Nah, I'm sure I'll be fine," he smiled. "Anyway, I won't stay long. I'll just show her that somehow I managed to make it here."

You sighed. If only you knew. You deserve someone better than her.

You walked together with Taiyou and headed to the groceries section while he went to the clothes and accessories section to look for his girlfriend.

When you finally got the milk, you decided to go home. You still have unfinished work with your studies.

As you got out, you saw a couple arguing.

"How could you do this to me?!" Taiyou calmly but angrily asked his girlfriend.

"You can't blame me. You asked for this. You have no time for me so I'm going to just be with someone who can give me all the time I need!" The girl answered back.

"But you know the reason why I can't have the time."

"I'm done with all your excuses, Amemiya," the girl said before leaving with another guy.

Taiyou was left gripping his chest and his knees fell on the ground.

You knew exactly what that meant so you ran towards him. "Taiyou!"

"(Y/n)... I..." he was sweating a lot and before he lost consciousness, you caught him in your arms.

(Time Skip)

(Taiyou's POV)

White. Everything looked white when I opened my eyes. Am I back at the hospital? I turned to one side and saw a beautiful face.

"(Y/n)?"

"Taiyou. You're awake," she smiled at me.

"What happened?"

"They postponed your operation since you fell unconscious at the mall this morning."

I tried to sit up and (Y/n) assisted me.

"I'm such a weakling," I muttered.

"No you're not. You're the strongest person I ever know."

"(Y/n). Why am I still your friend? I am not fit to be with anyone in this condition."

"Don't say that. I never thought of you that way. And..." she slightly blushed under the glasses as she took out a piece of paper. "I-I'M sorry. I found this in your pocket."

It was my paper. It says how much I've missed (Y/n).

"(Y/n), I... I can explain that," I felt my cheeks blush.

She showed me another piece of paper and it has the same words as mine.

"You missed me too?" I asked, looking at her.

She nodded and I smiled at her. The door suddenly opened and who would enter but my ex girlfriend.

"Taiyou I'm so sorry, I---- what is this geek doing here?!"

"This geek here has given me genuine love than you did now get out," I said frowning at her.

"Don't make me laugh Taiyou. You will never love someone like----"

I interrupted her by pulling (Y/n) into a deep kiss and I felt (Y/n) yelp a little.

"Tsk... Oh I never----! Uggh!" My ex stormed out of the room and I was left to explain myself to (Y/n).

"T-Taiyou?"

I took the paper from her and changed the word "miss" into "love" before showing it to her.

"I love you too," she said.
