(Reader's POV)

"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

Screaming at the top of your lungs may not be the best idea to do at a very quiet hour at home. Your mom had not wasted a minute to consult you if everything's alright. You gave a quiet apology along with a mental slap on your face at the thought that it was unnecessary to cry your heart out from the depths of your thorax the agony that you were going through.

You were not being a psychotic freak ready to go beast mode like a yandere in a wattpad fanfic. Although I quite doubt that yanderes let out a scream before they take the judgment into their hands... You were just letting some air out so you could at least free some of the stress that had built up inside you due to the hot weather.

It's summer and if there's anything you hated about this season was not the opportunity to tan yourself but the torment that the excruciating temperature the season has promised. Partly cursing the sun for being a show-off early in the morning, you hastily got up and wiped the sweat that dabbed your forehead. You headed to the closet and looked for clothes you could change into as you planned to go for a dip at a nearby waterfall. You had given up on the idea of making the refrigerator your bedroom for the meantime.

You smiled in success as you found the set of clothes you were looking for and headed somewhere in the room to grab your towel and a pair of slippers.

You walked down the dusty road with the towel over your shoulder and the pair of fresh clothes in one hand. You winced as the sun's deathly rays kissed your skin. Yet your expressions changed when you noticed a few daffodils dancing in the wind with butterflies accompanying them. The trees and flowers on each side of the road offered an amorous scent that brightened your senses.

You stopped for a moment to appreciate nature's beauty surrounding you at this deathly yet spectacular season. You smiled to yourself at the thought of getting to the waterfalls and seeing more of nature's wonderful expositions.

You were glad that your family moved to somewhere which seemed out of town. You got no distaste for city life but it seems that somewhere closer to nature just a little further away from anything cemented or made of plastic or metal gave you a more comfortable sentiment, despite the fact that you will have to wake up extra early every morning to go to school. It was like your inner peace was unleashed after settling at the heart of the countryside.

Wasting no more time, you jogged towards the waterfall. It was just a five minute walk and the waterfall was located in a secluded area within trees and rocks. It wasn't that high, perhaps only ten to twelve meters, and the pool it made beneath was like a mini swimming pool, tainted in aquamarine and you could clearly see the sand and rock on its floor despite its depth due to the lucidity of the water.

You took off your shirt leaving you with a tank top and just your shorts. As your toes touched the water, you gave a deep sigh of relief at finally feeling something cool on your body. With your eyes closed, you took a few more steps further into the pool, your heartbeat relaxing each time you go further.

"Careful, starfish. There could be some dangerous fish out there."

You remembered the first words you heard when you first met Kidou Yuuto in this area. It was a time when the beach got boring and Kidou had wandered off to your secret paradise. It was also the time that you had realized you had developed feelings for him. You remembered seeing him standing next to the waterfall shirtless and wearing his cape and goggles. He was grinning at you and he was ready to dive in for a swim. To a stranger he might look stupid with that outfit but you didn't care less. Your eyes had ran down to his glory exposed before you, secretly admiring his toned body build and completely forgetting to wonder why he was there in the first place.

You had looked away, trying to contain the embarrassment you felt for staring at him.

"The only dangerous fish around here is you," was your response to him at that time.

Once the water reached your chest, you decided to take a dive, feeling the cool water flow and rejuvenate every inch of your parched skin. After about half a minute of enjoying the comfort of the pool, you got up, flipping your hair over your back and slowly swimming back to the edge. You settled halfway through, feeling the water that reached your hip as you sat on the edge, preparing for another swim.

"I miss our walks you know. Somehow it felt awkward when it was only me and Haruna walking home together."

You remember him telling you that. Did you hear him right? He actually missed you? No, (Y/n). He missed the walks. Not you. And why would you even think that he'd miss you at all? It is a stupid thought. Your feelings for Raimon's strategist is a one-sided love that you believed there's a fat chance that it will ever change.

You also remember yelping and panicking at the sudden contact and the next thing you saw was yourself against muscled skin facing Kidou with an expression you can't read due to the goggles that covered his eyes.

You had blushed even redder than before, if that is even possible, and you can't help but punch Kidou on the chest.

"You looked fazed and you weren't responding, starfish. So I had to pull you into the water," he had said nonchalantly.

You smiled to yourself as you remembered how he had smiled so gently at you before looking around.

"I can see why you love this place, starfish. You're lucky to live around here."

"I guess I am. By the way," you paused as you thought about asking the question that had popped in your head since the first time you heard him say it. "Why do you call me... starfish?"

Kidou had just shrugged his shoulders while smiling still. You never got your answer to that question.

You wriggled your toes against the tiny stones and remembered all the times you and Kidou had spent together in this place. Since your first encounter, he had been joining you for a swim almost every day. But now it's almost a month since you last saw him go here. You wondered why. Did the waterfall bore him like the beach did? Did he grow tired of seeing you around? You still saw each other at school and at soccer practice but you never had the courage to ask him why because you thought that it would be unnecessary.

You shook your head to drive away the thoughts from bothering you before going in for another swim. You floated your back against the slow current of the pool, staring at the blue sky that was bordered by the trees that surrounded the waterfall. You closed your eyes and let yourself experience inner peace...

"CANNONBALL!"

A thundering splash on the pool perturbed the silence that you were enjoying. Your eyes shot open and you stood up to see who had made a grand entrance into the amity of the surroundings.

A male figure emerged from the water, his brown hair all down and wet yet his orange headband is still intact on his forehead.

"ENDOU?!" you asked in surprise. What on earth is he doing out here?

"Hey (Y/n)----woah!" Endou slipped as he tried to approach you, once again splashing water everywhere. You rushed towards him but just in time he had fixed himself up. "This place is quite slippery. They should put up a sign around here," Endou walked to the edge and you followed him.

"What are you doing here?!" you demanded.

"Uhh... I'm here for a swim?" he replied as if answering an obvious question.

You frowned. "I can see that. But isn't this place a bit far from your home for a swim?"

"Well, the beach got boring... so..." Endou shrugged his shoulders and prepared for another dive.

You sighed as you remembered that there were the same words Kidou told you when you first asked him why he's here.

"Oh, and by the way. Kidou asked me to give this to you," he took out a piece of paper firmly wrapped in plastic and handed it to you.

"Kidou?" you asked, not believing what you had heard.

"The one and only," you heard another voice from behind and saw Kidou walking against the rocks.

"Aww man. You're too early to be here! You're supposed to appear after she had read what is written!" Endou snapped.

"You left at 6AM, Endou," Kidou pointed out. "You're supposed to hand her that at around seven and now it's ten o'clock."

"I got lost, man! In the path of life!" (XD) Endou cried out.

"What is written here?" you tried to tear off the plastic that wrapped the paper. You thought Kidou was really prepared that he had it wrapped lest Endou jump into the water and soak it wet. But before you could open the piece of paper, Kidou grabbed it away from you.

"There's no need for that, starfish," he said.

"But I wanna read it," you insisted and tried grabbing the paper from him but he hid it in his pocket.

"Yeah there's no need for that. It's just words that confesses his feelings for you. He can say it right now," Endou said nonchalantly with hands on his waist.

You both stared in shock at Endou making him give you a questioning look. He slowly tiptoed in the water. "Now if you'll excuse me... I still need to go for a swim," and with that, he disappeared in the water.

You looked back at Kidou and stared at him as if waiting for him to say something.

"What?" he asked, trying not to look at you.

"What what?"

"What is it?"

"What do you mean what is it? Aren't you going to say something?"

Kidou took a deep breath before removing his goggles and looking straight into your eyes. "I'm sorry for... not being around now more often."

"I understand," you said, your eyes still asking if he's gonna say more.

"And I want you to know that I had grown feelings for you, starfish. I-I-I am not expecting for you to like me back. I mean, you are a wonderful person, an intelligent woman, beautiful... and-and-and----"

You cut him off by smashing your lips onto him. His eyes widened in shock but he didn't hesitate to kiss you back, pulling you closer to him and running a hand against your damp hair.

"Well... I guess that was good news," Kidou said as you pulled away.

"Yeah and I think it's getting hotter by the minute. So uhh, why don't we join Endou for a swim?"

"Great idea."

~~~
The end~! And just in case you're curious on what Kidou had written for (Y/n), here it is:
Hey (Y/n),
You have the sexiest curves I had ever seen.
Sometimes I like to think how great it would be if we could go skinny dipping together.
Sincerely,
Kidou Yuuto
Just kidding. Here's the real one:
Hey (Y/n),
So uhh... I don't know why I'm writing this letter but, I guess this is just the best way I could tell you how I really feel. First of all, I am deeply sorry for leaving you all alone in our usual spot for almost a month now, although we promised we'd see each other often in this place. It's really uncomfortable for me now that I had realized I had feelings for you, to be in your company more often. But don't worry, I'm sure I'll get over this and eventually if you'll forgive me then I'll see you not just in this paradise but every day. I am not expecting you to return my feelings but at least I got to let you know how I feel.
You are like a star on a shore of a beach on a hidden island. Rare. Special. Beautiful. And something I would love to keep forever... In my heart.
~Kidou Yuuto~
