Chapter Twenty Four › In My Arms

Ivy's POV

I was on my way home, my head feeling ever so dizzy and my eyes filled with water.

It was absolutely freezing and yet, my body felt so dim and I felt as if I was going to faint.

As soon as I reached my flat, I climbed up the many stairs.

My body was draining energy from itself, and to be honest, I felt like complete shit.

After everything I have been through today, my head couldn't deal with it right now.

I barge through my door and place my things on the kitchen counter.

"Emily!" I call, rubbing my eyes and coughing. "Mummy's home!"

Within minutes I hear my daughter stomp down the stairs.

"Hey Mom!" She smiles and throws her arms around me. "How was work?" I sigh and simper.

"It was... okay." Combing my fingers through my hair, I place myself on the sofa and slip off my coat.

Immediately, tears slide down my face and I am overwhelmed by sadness. "Mom..." Emily peers her head to me. "What's wrong?" I sniff.

"It's..." I breathe out. "It's fine."

"You don't look fine..." I chuckle for a second and then rub Emily's shoulder.

"Go and get your Mother a glass of water." Emily smiles at me and walk away, towards the sink.

I get up and suddenly lose my balance, holding onto the arm of the sofa.

In a few seconds, the world around me swirls and I feel a sharp pain, before falling unconscious.

Benedict's POV

"I think she really hates me now." I let out a sigh.

"Ben, don't be ridiculous." Tom assures me. "What exactly did you do to make her so upset?"

"I slept with her about ten years ago."

"Wait, you mean..."

"Yep." Tom begins to laugh. "What's so funny?"

"I dunno... I thought a woman like her wouldn't respond like that."

"Well she did." I growl to him and clear my throat.

Damn, I really messed this up. "She fired me too."

"Whoa. Fired you?"

"Yes fired, as in made me lose my job." Tom sucks his teeth.

"That's bad man."

"Yeah, I know." I rub my forehead. "Luckily Lucy helped me get it back for some days."

"Ah, Lucy, saving the day." I smile.

"You and her okay now?"

"Yeah, I suppose." He sighs. "We will hopefully get together then, Christmas?" I nod and my heart lifts.

"Yes, can't wait Tom."

"That's cool."

"I'll try and call Ivy, see if I can talk to her. Lucy gave me her number." Tom lowers his voice.

"Bye Timothy. Good luck."

"See ya William." I smile and put the phone down.

I scroll down my contacts and search for Ivy's name and I find it finally.

I dial it.

"Hello Ivy-"

"Is that Ben?!" I frown and I recognise that voice.

"Emily? Yes, where your Mother-"

"She's on the floor!"

"What?!" Emily begins to breathe very quickly. "What happened?"

"I, I dunno, she fell, she was fine, but I don't know what is wrong!" She begins to cry over the phone. "What shall I do?"

"Stay calm Emily, I'm on my way."

My heart pounds once again and I stuff my phone into my pocket.

I instantly scream my lungs for a cab and it hails next to me.

Within just minutes, I arrive at her flat and I have up the stairs, not caring how tired I was since I just cared about her.

Ivy.

"Emily!" I bang on the door, and she opens it, tears pouring down her face.

My daughter was crying. "Hey..." I wipe her tears and wrap my arms around her. "Where's Ivy?"

"She's there." She points behind her and I rush to her, pulling strands of hair behind her ear.

"Ivy, Ivy, can you hear me?" I hold Ivy in my arms and stroke her cheek. "Emily, call an ambulance."

"What..."

"Call an ambulance and call Lucy, please." Emily nods her head and I whisper to Ivy.

An attempt to comfort. "I'm here, you're going to be okay..."
