Chapter Twelve › One Wrong Move
Benedict's POV
"Ivy, wait!" Ivy had charged out of the toilet and I, attempted to run after her.
She had never faced me, even when I called her and called her, she didn't speak, she just ran.
"Ben, Ben!" Tom shouted. "What happened, why is she-"
"I guess it's over." He frowned and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Let's take this to our table... Timothy."
"Okay Tom." At the moment, I was feeling too bad to even use the code name.
"Get us a drink please." Tom asked a passing waitress. "Look, I know this is hard for you because of what happened all those years ago-"
"I know, I know. And... you're my friend Tom. You have been for a very long time." He smiled at me and bumps my shoulder.
"I am glad that we get this time together. We all know women are complicated." I smirk. "But, she seems nice. I know. I don't know, what happened in there, but..." Tom took a sip at his drink. "How do you feel about her?" I sigh, folding my arms.
"I feel... like... I've met her. You know what I mean?"
"Yeah... like déjà vu?" I nod slowly.
"Yep. I would never forget those eyes, lips and her unique scent." Tom folded his arms and rubbed his chin.
"I've been feeling like that too." I lift an eyebrow.
"What?"
"Feeling like I've met someone of her style. Must of been a long time ago, since I don't recall her name."
"Must be." I shrugged.
"I mean, that Lucy girl is all right..." Widening my eyes, I scoffed.
"No, Tom. No. She is getting married." I point my finger at him. "Do not touch her." He holds his hands up, chuckling.
"Allright, okay Thor!" I begin to giggle.
"Just... keep your hands to yourself, and I'll keep my hands to myself." I focus on something randomly. "Even if I feel like I've met her..."
Maybe I did.
A long time ago...
Ivy's POV
My feet glide along the snow as I rush to my flat.
Why did he kiss me?
He's my goddamn employee and he's already got his hands all over me.
I didn't want to suffer again. Not like before.
Not that drunk night with a stranger and then nine months later, pop out a child.
No, no. I didn't want that again.
After heaving myself up the many stairs in my flat, I pulled out my keys and unlocked my door.
I let out a sigh of relief.
I was home, with my daughter. No men, no 'attractions.' Well, apart from the one with my daughter and I - that doesn't count.
I thought we were alone, but we weren't.
As I peered my head around the wall, I notice someone sitting on the sofa with Emily.
She soon gets up and I recognise her.
"Hey, Ivy! Jen and I wanted to check up oj you." I threw my arms around Lucy, a few tears forming in my eyes. I move my head back. "Hey... what's wrong?" She pulled me back into a hug and I sniffed, Emily frowning at me.
"Wait... Jen? Jensen's here?" Lucy nodded.
"I said that he needed to apologise properly, so, he'd never question me." Lucy smirked.
"Ivy." Jensen walked in, his hands trailing behind him. "I wanted to... say sorry about earlier." I smiled slightly.
"It's... fine. In the past." Wiping the tip of my nose with the end of my sleeve, I folded my arms. "Th-thank you for apologising." Jensen smiled at me.
"I have to say... your daughter is an amazing game player." I chuckled. "You must teach her?"
"I dunno... Have no idea what she gets up at school..." Emily giggles.
"Mom, seriously!" I smile and walk over to Emily to give a hug. "Hey Mom." Those eyes again.
Not again.
I press my forehead against hers. "Mom... you don't look okay. Are you allright?" I smile, a tear falling down my face.
"I..." Lucy knew I was falling apart and so she placed a hand onto my shoulder.
"Jen, take Emily into her room. See if you can beat her at one of her games. I know she's pretty good." I drop my head, Emily planting a kiss on my cheek as she made her way into her room with Jensen. "I, what's wrong?" My bottom lip quivered and I remembered Olivia.
"Lucy..." I whispered and threw my arms around her, sobbing.
"Hey... My gosh, did Jensen really hurt you that bad, 'cus I swear I'll-"
"No, no." I wiped my nose. "It was Ben..." Lucy folded her arms and frowned at me.
"What did he do?"
"He... just... well, he tried to kiss me, but it just reminded me if what I lost..." She bit her lip, because she knew.
Lucy knew what it had reminded me about and how it will keep shattering me.
"Oh Ivy... I'm sorry... it's my fault for pairing you up with him..."
"It's fine Lucy... we didn't know this would happen..." I rubbed her shoulder.
She smiled at me.
"I am really sorry... Ivy, what makes him remind you of Liv?" I sighed.
"I don't know. There's something about him, his character, his features, that, I feel like I've met him before... With Liv somewhere..."
I thought I had. But, I'd probably have met hundreds of Benedicts and lots of people with those eyes and features he had.
But, I wasn't going to dwell on the night that had led to my best friend's death.
Because, I can't think about it again.
I just... can't...
