Chapter Seven › More Curiosity and First Days

Ivy's POV

"Emily!" I shouted, dropping my bags onto the floor while stumbling. Growling, I called her again and slammed the door. "Emily!" Suddenly, I heard my own daughter come stomping down the stairs.

"I'm sorry Mum!" Emily grabbed some of my bags from me and simpered. "I was doing homework." I pushed my hair out of my face and took the rest of the bags and folders, making my way into our kitchen.

"That's good, need any help?" Smiling, I place the bags onto the counter and took out a couple of treats for Emily.

She loved treats - just like me. Chocolate was just irresistible.

I waved the packet of chocolate oranges in her face, almost immediately she pulled them to her chest and let out a long sigh of relief.

"Thanks Mum and no... I don't need any help." Nodding, I began to place some of the object from my bags I had, into to the cupboard.

"Good day at school today?" Emily nodded and tore open the packet, picking out a segment and munching on it. She swallowed, before opening her mouth.

I was barely concentrating on what she was saying since I had quite a few folders and papers to get through before the coming day.

"Mum, who was that guy outside?" I bit my lip and combed my fingers through my hair - my head in the the clouds.

"Hm?"

"That guy. He looked, nice." Letting out a sigh, I frown.

"What?"

"He looked..." Emily raised her eyebrows at me. "... nice." She widened her eyes at me and I scoffed.

"No." She lifts one eyebrow and I tense my cheekbones. "Emily..." I lean forward. "No!"

"Oh come on Mom! No man has ever come home with you."

"Yeh, and our relationship..." I pick up the folders and walk towards Emily. "... strictly confidential." She rolled her eyes and I lightly kick the door open. "Don't you roll your eyes at me young lady." Emily giggles and I dump the folders on the bed.

"What are you going to do now Mum?"

"Have. A. Bath." I groan, slouching my back.

I slip off my coat and throw it on the bed. Then, I reach for my dressing gown and towel, making my way into the bathroom.

Shutting the door behind me, I fill up the bath with hot water and light a few candles. I slip off my clothes and step into the bath.

I close my eyes and lay back, breathing in and out softly and admiring the warm water glide over my skin.

After about a few minutes, I get a knock on the door and bury my body in the water.

"Mom..." Emily opens the door and I smile.

"Yeeeh..." I drag out my word.

"Who was that man?" Clenching my teeth I look away for a moment.

He was a employee. But she thought so different. "Please Mum?" I sigh.

"Fine... I'm sorry, work was tough today. But, yeh, he's, an employee that I hired today."

"Is he good?" I turn to face Emily and recognise those blue eyes that she held.

They certainly weren't my own.

"We will find out."

Benedict's POV

Time certainly flies.

One minute, I close my eyes to a night sky, the next - I'm blinded by the light.

I sit up in my bed and rub my eyes, followed by blinking continuously. My eyes adjust to the light as well as the clock next to the bed.

6:03am

Damn.

New record.

In exactly two hours, I start my new job. Well that is what I remember from my letter that Ivy had given me.

My legs ached as I stretched them while making my way into kitchen to prepare a cup of coffee.

I bowed my head and I stared at the floor.

I was nervous.

Ivy's POV

"Lucy, Lucy!" I charged into the lift and Lucy had followed me.

"Yeh, yeh!" She rushed by my side, pressing the button to my floor. "Several people had called this morning, asking for you." I look at her, lifting each of my papers in my hand, one by one.

"Surnames?"

"Hilton and Jones."

"Party goers?" Lucy shakes her head.

"I'm not sure, sorry." I sigh, smiling slightly.

"Do you know where Benedict is?"

"Hmm... no. But I know where a Tom is. On Facebook he-" I frowned at Lucy, who was having her little moment. "Sorry. Yeh, you know how long I've been obsessed Loki Ivy." I giggle.

"Yeh I know." Lucy smiled at me cheekily. "How's Jensen?"

"He is fine. We are fine."

"Got a date yet?" Lucy bit her lip.

"No. Not yet. But... was thinking... why don't we have a double date?" I choke.

"W-what? Seriously Luce?" She nods.

"Yeh. Come on! Be more sociable." She nudges me.

"Hmmm..." The lift beeps and I step out. "Report back to me Luce." She bows her head for a moment, the loft doors closing.

I then walk to my office and open the door.

Turning around, I see a cup of coffee sitting on my table, the smoke drifting into the air.

Out of the blue, I get a knock on the door and my heart jumps.

I recognise the outline.

It was Benedict at my door.

Again.
