Chapter Nine › Tricks and The Double Date
Ivy's POV
"Yeh, yeh." I twist a pencil in my hand whilst talking on the phone. "I understand, I think she will enjoy that type of party." I smile. "Sure, yep. I'll give you a call as soon as I am go."
The door opens and I lift my head. It was Lucy who quietly shuts the door. "Okay, yep, thank you. Bye." I put the phone down and the pencil. "Hey Luce."
"Hey Ivy. You allright?" She points at the phone. "Client?" I nod and sigh, fiddling with my necklace.
"Yeh..."
"Recents?"
"Yeh."
"Oh, and I'm sorry, I didn't get round to-" I put my hand up.
"It's fine." I lift my eyebrows. "Benedict got them for me..." Lucy smiled.
"Benedict? Really. Wow..." She then smirked, looking away. I frown, narrowing my eyes.
"What are you hiding Lucy Laufeyson?" She snorts.
"What?"
"I can tell when you are lying or even hiding something about me..." I fold my arms. "I said Benedict." I lower my voice. "Did you do something to him?" She giggled. "Lucy?"
"Okay, okay! I... well, he agreed to have a coffee with you. Come as a double date."
"Really?" Lifting myself from my chair, I put my arms around my hips.
"Yep." She walks towards me. "Now will you come later?" I bite my lip.
"Lucy..."
"Come on! You'll meet Jensen properly and it'll be a laugh..." How could I say no to my friend and her puppy dog face?
"Okay, fine!" I blurt out. "But don't hook me up!" Lucy smiles and bows.
"Yes boss!" She giggles once again before leaving.
I wonder how this will pan out.
Benedict's POV
I sat at Costa, waiting for around ten minutes now. I had hoped that Lucy would come soon and I was still getting my head around what Tom had told me.
My coat clung to me and I admired the warmth, but I was anxious.
Why was I?
Was it because I was going to be sitting opposite a woman? Like all those years ago? And that mistake I made?
"Benny boy!" I heard Lucy's voice and I turned around. But, she wasn't on her own.
A man stood next to her. He looked American. I thought I knew him from somewhere...
He had hazel, green eyes with a dimple in the middle of his chin. In fact, he was quite built up with broad shoulders.
"Hey, Lucy." I got up and smiled at her, tucking my hands into my coat pocket. "Who's... um..." Lucy lifts her eyebrows at me and suddenly realises.
"Oh, oh!" She giggled and clings to her friend's arm. "This is Jensen. My fiancee." She pecked him on his cheek.
"Hi." We both shook hand. It was awkward. The usual steps in my life so far. "Benedict, right?" I nod.
"Yeah. Lucy is a good person to work with Jensen." Lucy smiles slightly.
"That's great to know. Shall we have a seat?" Me and Lucy nodded and Jensen pulled out a seat for Lucy, who smiled at him before we all sat down.
"Jensen, will you... go and get some drinks?"
"Yeah baby." He kissed Lucy and got up. "Coffee?" I nodded. "Coffee?"
"You know what I like Jen." She smirked. "Oh, and get another coffee." Jensen frowned and so did I.
"Why?"
"Yeah Lucy, are we expecting another guest?"
"I think you are." I recognised that voice. Turning round, my jaw was slowly dropping open.
It was Ivy.
Lucy didn't tell me about this...
Ivy's POV
I saw Benedict and he looked as shocked as I was.
Why was that?
"Hey Ivy!" Lucy wrapped her arms around me and smiled broadly. "This is Jesen." Wow. Jensen. Ackles. Finally meeting him.
"Hi Jensen." He smiles, his voice deep.
"I've heard a lot if interesting things about you Ivy." I lift an eyebrow.
"Hopefully good things." Jensen laughs.
"Lucy never speaks of anything bad about you." I smile at Lucy, who claps her hands quietly.
"Right, Jensen and I will get the coffees, why don't you both... talk." Say what?
She was going to leave me alone with him?
With my employee?
Lucy taps me on my shoulder and whispers, "Have fun." and I just stand away from the table where Benedict was sitting.
"W-why don't you sit down Ivy?" Benedict offered with a stutter.
He was nervous again.
I smile slightly and sit next to him, ensuring I wasn't to close. Oh God this was just... awkward.
"I must say I was shocked about hearing that you would agree to what Lucy said. I mean... a double date." I chuckled, Benedict looking so confused.
"Date?" I looked at him. "Who said anything about a d-date?" A crease formed in between my eyebrows.
"Didn't Lucy tell you? We were going to double date, she said you agreed to it." Benedict shook his head.
"Nope, I thought I was here to discuss something with the business." He narrows his eyes at me. "I... don't..." Sighing, I shook my head slowly.
"We've been had."
