4. Prepositions of Time
New lesson! Now, let's talk about the prepositions of time, specifically when to use 'at, in and on.'
So, medyo nakakalito ang paggamit ng mga ito. Para kasing magkakapareho lang sila sa isa't isa when in reality, each preposition have their own function and limitations.
One thing is for sure, they are here to indicate time.
i. Precise time
• at 2 o'clock
• at midnight
• at dinnertime/ lunchtime/ breakfastime
• at the moment
• at the weekend
ii. Holiday period
• at Christmas
• at Valentines
• at Easter
i. Days
• on Monday
• on my birthday
• on Christmas day
* 'at' and 'on' are somehow similar lalo na kung ang time ay 'holiday.' Some either use 'at' or 'on.'
ii. Days with morning/ afternoon/ evening;
• on Sunday morning
• on Friday evening
• on Monday afternoon
iii. Dates.
• on the January 1st
• on the 30th of November
• on February 14
i. Months and years;
• in January
• in March
• in 2021
• in 1980
ii Decades and centuries (usually with 'the' before)
• in the nineties
• in the 1980s
• in the 21st century
• in the 19th century
iii. Seasons and time periods
• in summer
• in fall
• in five minutes
• in two hours
• 'at' is used in specific time and even in holidays.
• 'on' is for d&d which means (holi)days and dates.
• 'in' is used in more general time/terms and long periods.
. . .
That's the end! Hope you've learn something. Alam niyo bang feeling ko napakatalino ko ng malaman ko lahat ng 'to hahaha! It made me more confident in using them, orally and in writing. Atleast now, alam na natin kung kailan ba sila gagamitin at hindi lang bumabase sa kung alin sa tatlo ang magandang pakinggan o basahin (#relate).
