Chapter 15: How Unfortunate

The portal opens to another location. The crew got out of the portal and looked around. It was a city called Noatun. It was very bright and beautiful. Nero was confused as he asked. "Where are we now?" Bayonetta replied simply towards him. "Noatun." Trish exhaled in disappointment. "How unfortunate." Dante rolled his eyes as he was tired of her complaining. "Oh, get a grip, Trish." Jeanne groaned loudly as she looked at them. "Please. Stop complaining. We'll get this done. Promise." Trish raised her eyebrows. "You sure about that?"

Bayonetta sensed something is coming. Bayonetta shushed the group while holding up her index finger as she prepared herself with her weapons. "Everyone, shut up." Nero was a bit concerned. "What?" Dante shushed him as he looked serious. "Shh!" Bayonetta looked determined. "Be on your guard. Someone's approaching."

She twirled around quickly and aimed her guns at the little squirrel. The other guys did the same until Bayonetta recognized it. Bayonetta was surprised to see it. "Loki?" The squirrel turned into a little boy with white dreadlock braids and he had cards ready in his hands while he noticed Bayonetta as he grinned. "Bayonetta? What are you doing here, love?" Bayonetta puts her weapons away while putting her hands on her hips. "I could be asking you the very same question, Loki and I told you not to call me that. If I hear the word 'love', I will spank you."

Loki raised his hands up while he surrendered. "Calm down, Bayonetta. I'm not here to cause trouble." He looked over her shoulder and saw Dante and his friends smiling and Loki looked stern. Loki spoke to her while he pointed. "Bayonetta, there's intruders behind you! What the hell are these dweebs doing here?" Trish was offended by him calling him names as she raised her right eyebrow. "Excuse me?" Dante stepped up to him with an upset face. "Look, little kid. You really don't want to mess with us. We're dangerous." Loki chuckled as he examined their outfits. "Ha! Really? Dangerous, huh?" Nero nodded his head as he talked back to him. "Yeah, that's right and don't call us dweebs!"

Loki raised his eyebrows as he got ready to fight them. "You want me to make them disappear?" Dante crossed his arms as he confronted him. "Oh, you think your little magic trading cards will stop us? I like to see you try, kid!" Bayonetta was getting irritated beyond the bickering. "Enough! Loki, they're with me." Loki was stunned to hear that. "What?" Bayonetta explained what happened to them recently. "Our worlds has been collided into portals and the only way to stop it is to kill the main person who's doing this. Narthex."

Loki shrugged his shoulders as he was confident. "No problem. It can't be that hard, right?" Jeanne thinks about it. "Actually, it took us a lot longer than it should be. It was so hard to just look at one specific portal." Loki rubbed his chin, intrigued about the situation. "Hmm. Interesting." Bayonetta raised her eyebrows as she smirked. "Can you help us find him, Loki?" Loki was thinking. "Well, it depends if I can trust these guys, if I don't, then ta-ta." He was about to walk away and Nero caught up to him.

Nero tried to stop him as he got in front of him. "Whoa whoa whoa. Wait, wait, wait a minute. How about we pay you?" Loki had his hands on his hips. "Ha, you think that I care about money at a time like this? Pfft, sod off." Dante groaned in annoyance. "Come on, kid. There has to be a way to convince you." Loki shook his head. "Nope. Nothing will convince me right now. Your worlds are colliding and that's your problem, not mine. Sorry. It looks like you guys are on your own. Cheers, Bayonetta!" He ran off and the guys were disappointed.

Dante exhaled deeply.  "Well, this sucks." Nero was a bit irritated by what just happened. "Damn." Trish rubbed her face in disappointment. "How unfortunate." Jeanne was unsure of what could happen now. "What do we do now?" Bayonetta spoke to the group. "Loki is right. We have to fix this problem and we're not giving up this easily." Dante sighed. "I hate to say this, but this job is stupid. I mean so far we haven't even accomplished anything yet." Nero agreed with Dante. "True. The portals are irritating as hell, but we can't just go home." Jeanne nodded her head. "He's exactly right."

Trish yawned as she stretched. "Maybe we should rest up for a while. We haven't had a good night's sleep in a minute." Bayonetta nodded her head as she also stretched a bit. "We'll find a place to rest. We won't be weak when we face Narthex." The moon appeared out of the clouds and everyone was relaxing in a comfortable chair while Bayonetta stared at the moon. Bayonetta spoke to the sky. "Mother, why did you have to die? You could've taught me more extrodinary things and yet you died because of those wretched angels. I should've stopped it, but I was too late to reach you in time."

Jeanne saw Bayonetta as she was concerned. "Cereza? Is there something troubling you?" Bayonetta shook her head as she sniffled a bit, thinking about her mother. "No. I'm perfectly fine, Jeanne." Jeanne gave a genuine smile. "Liar." She sits on the window sill of the castle in front of Bayonetta. Jeanne spoke to her with kindness. "You can tell me anything, Cereza. I'm sure I can relate." Bayonetta decided to tell her as she sighed deeply. "Fine. It's about my mother. Our mother." Jeanne understood how she felt. "Oh. Wish you could've stopped it?" Bayonetta nodded her head as she looked down. "Exactly, Jeanne." Jeanne sighed as she gave her advice. "Well, what's in the past is in the past. Don't think back, always think forward."

Bayonetta understands as she knows that she was correct about that. "Right." Jeanne gently grabbed her hands and rubbed them. "Now, let's think about the future. What will we do to Narthex when we get to him?" Bayonetta came up with a simple idea. "We'll ask him can he stop with these portals and make everything back to normal. If he doesn't, we'll break his skull. If he does, we'll still break his skull." Jeanne nodded her head as she grinned. "Alright. We should rest up. We need our strength in order to kick some angel a**."

Bayonetta smiled at her. "Okay. You go ahead and rest, Jeanne. I'll be over there in a second." Jeanne pointed at her. "Don't stay up too late." Bayonetta chuckled softly. "Now, you sound like our mother." Jeanne softly laughed at her. "Don't mean to be. Good night." She walked away from her to get some sleep. Bayonetta smirked a bit. "Good night, Jeanne."

Bayonetta smiled at her and then she looked at the moon again and she heard a voice. "Bayonetta. Can you hear me?" Bayonetta nodded her head as she spoke to the voice. "Yes, but stop sounding like you're a mysterious person." She closed her eyes and opened a little gateway to the window. She looked and saw the figure on his throne. Bayonetta frowned at him. "Narthex." Narthex looked around in confusion while he was angry."What is this trickery, witch?" Bayonetta crossed her arms. "Take it easy, god almighty. I just opened a little mirror, so I can see you clearly." Narthex noticed as he was honestly impressed. "Very clever. I thought you would do something like this." Bayonetta raised her left eyebrow as she walked around. "Really, now? Look, stop playing these games and tell us where you are."

Narthex shook his head as he spoke to her. "No, no no, my love. See, you're not very clever." Bayonetta was upset to hear that word. "Don't call me love. I'll kill you just for saying that." Narthex raised his hands. "Oh, I doubt that, Bayonetta. You have no idea where I am." Bayonetta tapped her chin with a smirk. "True, but perhaps I start breaking walls down until I find you." Narthex was pretending to be afraid. "Ooh, that sounds like a threat to me. Are you sure you're not cold hearted on the inside?" Bayonetta shook her head as she was honest. "No, I have my sister here to do the cold hearted part. I'm just here to get answers from you."

Narthex crossed his arms as he smirked at her while he was testing her. "Come find me first and then you'll get answers." Bayonetta smirked as she stretched her arms. "If we do find you, you won't stab us in the back, right?" Narthex gasped while he smiled. "Why I would never!" Bayonetta didn't believe him at all. "You would, wouldn't you?" Narthex nodded his head as he admitted it. "Yeah, I would. It's what I'm good at, Bayonetta." Bayonetta scoffed at him. "Figures. We will get you, Narthex."

Narthex grinned at her."I don't think so. Anyway, my time for you is depleted. So, ta-ta!" He snaps his fingers and Bayonetta's gateway is distorted and it disappears back to the moon. Bayonetta was frustrated. "Damn it. Bugger. I hope you come out of hiding, Narthex because we're coming at your front door." She looks at the moon one more time.

Bayonetta exhaled deeply. "Mother, give me strength." She gets up and goes to bed and Rosa's ghostly figure appears from the moon and smiles down at Bayonetta. Her figure spoke to her. "And strength you may have, my child." Rosa starts to sing "Fly me to the Moon" and the stars twinkled downwards to Bayonetta's jewel and made it glow and also Jeanne too.

Rosa thought about them both as sisters in memories and a tear went down her cheek. After she finished the song, her spirit floated to Bayonetta and kissed her cheek. She softly spoke to her. "Be good to your sister, Bayonetta and your new friends. I'll always be here when you need me. Good night, my child and have beautiful dreams." She floated back to the moon and disappeared. The whole castle turned black because of darkness and everyone was asleep.
