9.) Batwoman Rising
It's 10:20pm. Xia has decided to make her move.
She moves into the dark office from the now opened window, sitting in the swirl chair at the desk. She keeps her back to the door, kicking her feet up on the windowsill with her hands behind her head. Ami sits beside Xia's feet on the windowsill, rocking her legs back and forth.
Xia waits and plays on her phone until the door opens at 11:30 and the light turns on. Xia hears the person freeze, noticing something's off, but that's to be expected.
"I've been expecting you, Commissioner Gordon," Xia speaks up and turns around with a grin. "Or should I say Batgirl?"
"Who are you and what do you want? Do you want money?"
"Oh no, I have plenty of that. You seriously don't recognize me?" Xia questions. "You were friends with my grandpa. You were reaaaally close with my great grandpa. Disgusting, I'll admit. Age gaps like that really disgust me. What is that like 19 years? Gross, imagine a 19 year old dating a newborn. Disgusting, isn't it?" Xia says, leaning onto her folded hands upon the desk. "You don't recognize the hair? It's natural, you know."
Her eyes widen. "Jason?"
"The name's Xiara Todd. Didn't you know he had a granddaughter?"
"I heard about you, your brother, and your father, but I never got to meet you. Jason always liked to keep things to himself."
"It's fine. I understand after the whole thing with GU Dick and GG Bruce. Though, if you weren't such a whore, you wouldn't of gotten into that predicament, would you?"
She gives her an annoyed glare. "What reason do you have for being here?"
"Well, whoever this Batman is, he's a terrible Batman. The guy doesn't know what he's doing. I'm guessing the old Batman isn't able to teach him his tricks as he's too old to. I've had training, so I wanna teach him better. I've done quite a bit of research and discovered that you used to be Batgirl."
"Is that all?" Barbara sighs, leaning against the bookcase next to her.
"All I wanted to know," Xia replies. "But, I also know that you've been making a suit. Had to put those unused smarts somewhere and along with something to pass the time."
"I don't know how you learned about the suit, but I'm not giving it to you."
"Listen, Batman has someone helping him behind the scenes. I'm guessing it's the old Batman. I'd be grateful to have you be behind Batwoman."
"Batwoman?"
"You really think I was gonna call myself Batgirl?" Xia laughs. "How lame can you get?"
"Why scope me out then? Why not the actual Batwoman?"
"The old Batwoman is dead. Besides, she didn't train under Batman like you did. She just worked with him. She also wasn't as smart as you and likely didn't or couldn't make a suit that's better than Batman's by far."
"I'm not giving you the suit. Bruce would kill me as well as your parents."
"They won't find out. They also aren't the boss of you," Xia shrugs. "At least, I thought they weren't."
"Alright, fine. If you want the suit, you have to prove to me that you'd be a good replacement."
"Seriously grandma? I'd down you in a heartbeat," Xia scoffs, waving her off. "I'd have more of a battle with a frog." She catches the book that was aimed at her face with ease. "I'm also half alien, so I'm stronger than a normal person."
"Not bad, kid."
It doesn't take long for Barbara to be next to Xia and strike at her. Only for Xia to quickly sweep kick her and shove her back with a palm to the chest. Barbara easily lands on the floor on her butt.
"That good enough for you, grandma?"
Ami swirls around Barbara's head with a giggle.
Barbara coughs, standing up. "I'm still not giving you the suit. Get out of here, kid."
"You'll give it to me eventually." Xia shrugs. "I'll bother you about it until you let me. See ya!" She salutes before falling backwards out the window behind her.
Barbara rushes to the window in panic, watching Xia effortlessly parkour to the ground from the 10th story. The older woman sighs, propping her cheek upon her palm and watching the girl disappear on a motorcycle. "We'll see, kid. If you truly are like Jason as I've heard. You'll be a perfect Bat. I can't let you though, they'll all come for me for letting you in on this life. And if the family secret gets out..."

Xia strolls into her room around 11:58pm. She sighs, heading over to her snake terrarium and feeding them some raw chicken from the nearby mini fridge. She jerks the chicken back and forth for each of them to prey and catch.
Out of no where they start to go crazy and squirm all over. Xia can hear what's bothering them though, but it's not as strong as they hear it. They lunge at her and sink their jaws into her arm. She yanks all three off and stuffs them into a pillowcase. She doubles the pillowcase just in case they go even crazier and try to rip through it.
She sets the bag in their terrarium then looks to her arm to see it already healed. "Huh... guess I'm immune to poison. That's nice." She looks out the window. "Is the whole city dealing with this?" Her eyes widen. "What about the zoo?!"
She races out of the room, hopping on her motorcycle and speeding off to the zoo.
Once she arrives, she jumps over the gates with her motorcycle, running straight into an uncaged tiger. It spots her as she gets off her motorcycle, leaving on her helmet.
"Join..?"
Xia puts a hand up and feeds some energy into Ami to make her visible.
"I can handle the tiger, you go take care of another loose animal," Xia commands.
Ami nods and flies off.
More tigers fan out from the tiger den, standing beside the first one and all glaring right at Xia.
"Kid! Watch out! We don't have any more tranquilizers! You gotta get outta here!" one of the zoo guards call out from the other side of the den.
Xia closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, slowly moving into a defensive stance, sliding one foot behind her and leaning back onto it. She raises her hands into a classic martial arts pose.
The tigers seemingly get impatient and rush at her.
She snaps her eyes open and quickly moves through all the tigers, jabbing each of them in a pressure point to lay them out. She sighs and all the tigers fall to the ground asleep.
Xia gives the guard a thumbs up. "I'm fine! I know how to handle outta control animals!" She looks to the shocked guard before sprinting off further into the zoo.
A few hours pass and eventually Xia finds Batman getting pummeled by the zoo's resident gorilla. She tackles the gorilla off of him and puts the gorilla to sleep like the tigers.
"What?!" Batman shouts.
She turns to him with a wink. "You owe me one."
He rolls his eyes. "Xia? You shouldn't be here."
"My snakes went crazy by this sound that's currently going off," Xia says, covering her ears for a moment. "It drives animals mad. Batman! Watch out!"
An elephant races towards Batman but stops right before striking him.
"What happened?"
"The ringing stopped," Xia answers.
The elephant turns around and begins to walk off. Two guards move up beside the elephant. "Thanks, we got it from here," he tells us before turning to walk with the elephant. "Everything's going to be okay, Tiffany."
"Yeah, Tiffany," Batman huffs in annoyance.
Ami returns from helping elsewhere in the park and swirls around Batman's head, much to his annoyance as he swats at her.
"Who'd you handle?" Xia asks the spirit.
"Bears... Birds..."
"How'd you do that?" Batman asks.
"Do what?"
"Take the gorilla down, obviously."
"Pressure points, duh." Xia rolls her eyes. "If you wanna live up to the original Batman, you really gotta step up your game. Batman is the world's greatest detective, you're just a dumbass in his suit. A suit you truly don't deserve. I'm surprised Megabat or Nightwing haven't rid of you yet."
(It's Damian and his son just to lyk. Nightwing also obviously wears the mask he's holding to cover his fully green eyes.)
"I haven't even met them."
"You will eventually. Real Bats don't like fake ones in their city," Xia sighs. "I'm gonna go." She pulls out her key to her motorcycle and presses a button which calls it to her. She jumps on right as it pulls up beside her and throws Batman a salute before disappearing into the night. Ami swirls down the street beside her.

The next morning was chaotic, nobody could understand each other. Everyone was speaking in gibberish, at least that's how they sounded to others.
Xia heads straight to the police station this time instead of Barbara's house. She should be heading to school, but she figured it was cancelled anyway. She climbs up the building with a leap, landing on the window ledge. Inside she hears the gibberish continue until it finally becomes normal again.
Barbara gets a phone call from the man who's causing all of this panic then the lower ranked cop leaves.
"You can come in now," Barbara calls out.
Xia smirks and slinks into the room. "You need me. You know you do."
Barbara sighs in annoyance. "I really don't have time for this."
"Then let me have the suit."
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"You understand how angry your family will be at me for getting you involved in this life?"
Xia shrugs. "They will never know and what they don't know won't hurt them."
"That's the thing. Bruce will find out. He finds out everything."
"Then I'll make it obvious that Batwoman is not me," Xia says, moving to sit on the window ledge and crossing her arms. "You know the current Batman needs my help. He needs the training."
Barbara sighs. "I agree he needs more training, but I can't. You need to go, I need to call someone and you can't be in here when I do it." She turns to look at Xia only to find the girl already gone. She chuckles. "You really are a bat."
Xia moves quickly, climbing to the top of a tall building to see the city. "I'm not going to interfere with this battle. I have nothing to lead me there." She sighs, sitting down on the edge of the roof and letting her feet dangle.
She remains there for an hour before a sonic frequency fills the air, causing everyone to cower in pain at the noise. Even the ghosts are being harmed. Ami flails around in pain, but not as much as the humans are. Xia clutches her ears, falling back onto the roof. Her ears are bleeding as her hearing is more advanced.
The ringing finally stops after about 10 minutes.
Ami worriedly hovers over Xia. "Xiiaa? Okay?"
Xia groans in pain. "I should be fine now. My healing will kick in any second." And, as she said, the pain is gone in a few seconds, and she sits up. "See I'm okay." She pats Ami on the head to reassure her. "Let's head home."

The next day Xia heads to Barbara's house, knowing she's off work today.
"I heard the news," Xia says. "The villain was crushed under the tower. Admit it, Batman needs a partner so something like that doesn't happen again."
The older woman sighs in agitation. "Yes, I agree. He does need a partner." Barbara pinches and rubs circles on the bridge of her nose. "I've been thinking about it and, I can't believe I'm doing this, you would be a great Batwoman. But, I do have one more test. If you can find where the suit is and hack your way in, I'll let you have it."
Xia grins. "Promise?"
"Yes."
"Good," Xia says, pulling out her phone and pulling up her hacking program. She grins, pressing the final button.
A click comes from a nearby bookcase and it swings itself open, revealing an elevator behind it.
Barbara stands up, looking from Xia to the elevator in shock. "That's... impossible..."
"Well, I did learn from the best hacker I know. Tim Drake ring any bells? I would hang out with him during my summers sometimes with his two kids. They were older than me though, so they didn't really want to hang out with me. Which meant I spent all my time with GU Tim."
"Should've figured," Barbara sighs. "Alright, I promised. I'll show you everything."
"That easy, huh?"
"You are Jason's granddaughter after all," she admits. "I can't trust this suit to anyone. But... I'll admit you'd be better off with it then I ever will. One can never actually leave the hero business no matter how hard they try... Before you do this, I have to ask... Are you willing to give your life away for this?"
"I have powers and abilities, so I may as well use them for something worthwhile," Xia answers. "I've always had a strong sense of justice."
Barbara grins at her as they get in the small elevator together. Runs in the family. "As long as you don't kill anyone, you'll be fine. You also can't tell anyone who you are. Especially Bruce and the rest of your family."
The elevator heads down and is opened into a large futuristically technology filled room.
"Wow," Xia gasps, looking around in awe. "Schway place you got."
"Wait for it," Barbara says, flipping on a switch.
Everything lights up, holographic displays, holographic computers, suits in cases, and even the floor lights up like an arena.
"Way schway."
The two make their way up to the cases of suits, moving to the black and purple one.
"Let me run you through the suit. You ever heard of nanotechnology?"
"Obviously, but it's not often used because it costs a lot."
"Well I made this by scratch. You ever watched the old superhero movies? This suit is a lot like the suit from Black Panther," Barbara explains. "Except, this one is way more advanced and has much more to it." She presses a few buttons on the computer nearby and the suit retracts into two bracelets. "It has everything Batman has as well." She takes the bracelets and hands them to Xia.
Xia slips the bracelets on either wrist. "What now?"
"Tap the bracelets together twice."
Xia does and the suit washes over her body. She grins. "Oh, this kicks."
Barbara smiles as she watches Xia check out the suit. "You're gonna be a great Bat." It's in your genes after all.
"Glad you think so," Xia replies.
"So, how are you gonna act to not have people connect Batwoman to Xia?"
Xia puts a hand to her chin in thought. "Well, I'll have to be completely opposite of myself..." She grins. "And I know just how to do it to annoy Batman too."
"What're you gonna do?"
"Be a big flirt of course!" Xia claims. "That'll drive him mad!" She cackles. "This'll be great! Oh, I'm so ready to get out there." The teen looks to Barbara. "Everyone used to call you Babs, right?"
"Yeah."
"Good, calling you that now. Wait, what should I call you when we communicate when I'm being a Bat?"
"Mmm, Oracle will work."
(I assume bc she's not in a wheelchair, she never became Oracle. Sooo that's what we're going with.)
"Alrighty," Xia nods, flexing her fingers as she continues to get a feel of the suit. "Breathable. That's nice."
"Had to include everything I wished I had when I was Batgirl. That suit did not breathe in any place you wanted it to."
"I don't doubt that," Xia responds, beginning to walk around and doing flips and kicks and dodges. "Moves with you too." She flips out the wings. "Responds to my mental commands too."
"What are you gonna do if people begin to realize you're never in the same place as Batwoman when you should be?"
Xia turns to Ami, willing the suit to let her exit it from the back. It reforms her shape as she stands beside it. She grips Ami's arm and makes her visible.
Barbara visibly flinches back. "Who is that, and where'd she come from?"
"This is my best friend, Ami. She's a poltergeist. I'm able to see and interact with ghosts and even make them visible."
"Like Jason," Barbara gasps. "But he wasn't able to touch them only see them."
"I'm assuming because I have alien in me, it's a little different."
"Interesting."
"So, Ami can possess the suit," Xia says.
Ami nods and heads into the suit then starts to move around.
"That'll work," Barbara says. "Welcome to the Bat clan, Batwoman. How about we get to training?"
