8.) I Need Your Help
"I'll be in Malaysia for the weekend taking care of some business," Bruce says as he packs a suitcase.
"So, I'm gonna be here alone?"
"Don't make me send Damian to watch you."
"Is he not going with you?"
"No, but by Damian I also mean Kad'r."
She scrunches up her face. "Anyone but him! He's too much like his mother... and grandmother! I can't be around that much cheerful and bouncy energy! Tamaraneans are so annoying... Why do I have aliens in my family?"
"You know, you are half alien yourself. Your mother is from another planet, that's why you're so strong. You're also basically a princess," Bruce replies with a hint of smugness.
"Ugh, don't remind me," Xia huffs, crossing her arms. "I'm just glad my grandma isn't also my aunt and my grandpa isn't also my uncle. This family is so confusing..."
"I don't keep up with proper terms at this point," Bruce replies, finishing packing and closing his suitcase. "As long as they aren't actually related by blood, I don't care."
"You just had to adopt ten children."
"Five. I adopted five, and Damian is mine," Bruce corrects.
"Yeah, yeah."
He picks up his luggage and heads out to the taxi. Xia and Ace follow behind him. The taxi driver helps him load his luggage into the trunk before moving back into the driver's seat. Terry comes out from the manor with a sandwich in hand.
Bruce opens the taxi door, turning to give Ace a quick pat on the head. He looks to Xia. "Be good. I don't wanna come back to have to pay for something you did wrong."
"Yeah, I'll be watching her," Terry says, walking up beside Xia and taking a bite of his sandwich.
He leans an arm on her shoulder which she promptly shoves off and almost makes him fall over. She gives him an annoyed glare as he readjusts himself with an eyeroll.
"That doesn't reassure me," Bruce replies, getting in the taxi and rolling down the window.
"RoOod," Terry replies. "I can take care of everything without you for a bit."
"Now I'm really worried," Bruce says, shutting the door. "I'll see you two when I return."
"Bye!" the two wave as the taxi takes off. The two teens turn to each other.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Xia asks.
"Party?"
"Big time. Tomorrow night 7 on the dot."
"We'll spread the word today," Terry smirks. "This is gonna be great."
That day at school the word that Xia Todd was having a party at Wayne Manor spread like wildfire. The mansion is gonna be packed with just about everyone in the school.
~~~
Xia hired a good event caterer to take care of everything from food to 'butlers.' Alfred has snarkily made some comments about how they work, not liking what he sees. Xia just rolls her eyes at his comments, only chuckling occasionally. She also hired a DJ and a few personally chosen bodyguards along with getting a bunch of junk food. Alcohol? Definitely. Bruce has a whole cellar full of it. She stays away from the old collectors alcohol though. She's a tough badass, but she's definitely not gonna get her GGB pissed off. She remembers the story that her grandpa told her about how GGB kicked his ass. She definitely would rather not go against that even with her alien healing. Alfred helped her with the alcohol, reluctantly. He told what not to touch and brought her to the many bottles of the same brand or type of alcohol that was specifically for drinking.
"Alfred, Ami," Xia speaks to the two ghosts. "Anybody who has any sort of drug or cigarette or vape or weed or anything similar, come tell me. I'll kick their ass then kick them out."
"Yes, Princess Xiara," Alfred responds with a bow.
Xia groans. "I told you not to call me that."
"And I told you I will call you by your proper title."
She groans as Ami snickers. "I've never even been to mom's planet!"
"I'm sure you will eventually," Alfred says.
She throws her arms up in the air as she leaves the room to find all the employees for tonight and gather them together. "Alright, any sign of drugs, cigarettes, vape, weed, or anything else similar report it to me. If you can't find me then report it to any four of these big guys." She gestures to the large men beside her. She knows these four guys are ridiculous strong. Strong enough to take on a whole gang of Jokerz just in case. "You four then throw them out and don't let them back in. I don't want to see any of those disgusting habits here. Clear?"
"Crystal!" they all respond.
"Then let's open the doors and get this party started!" Xia cheers, pumping a fist in the air.
"Yeah!"
The doors open and people begin to pour in the manor by the dozens. Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors and even students from other schools nearby. Xia has the party set up in the ballroom of the manor. The large hallway in front has all sorts of food lined up along the sides all the way down.
"Hey, Kyukon!" Chels calls out, dancing over to Xia. "This party rips! You should have end of the year parties! This is the biggest party I've been to!"
Chelsea and Xia have gotten pretty close. So close, Xia would say she's her best friend. That word is foreign to her though as she's never been close enough to someone to be considered a best friend.
"Glad to know you're enjoying yourself," Xia says. "Have you seen Terry or Max?"
"Yeah, I saw Max a little while ago," Chels says. "Haven't seen Terry though. I figured he'd already be here. You know, considering he's your bodyguard or whatevs."
"Jeez, he could've at least sent a text he wasn't coming," Xia scoffs, crossing her arms in a pout.
Chels grins. "Sounds like someone's having withdrawals. Don't tell me you have a crush on–"
Xia slaps a hand over the girl's mouth. "Don't even finish that sentence," Xia growls. "It's more likely I'd date Batman than Terry. There's no way I would ever date Terry. GGB would also probably kill him... and my gramps. Anyway, I'm annoyed cause we kinda planned this together. Kinda shitty he didn't even show."
"Mood. Anyway, you'd be cute together." She shrugs. "And it would probably work out better than with Dana since he'd always be around you anyway."
"Just shut up," Xia groans, covering her mouth. "I think I just threw up a little."
A few hours pass before someone has to ruin it.
Loud cackles echo throughout the ballroom as people gasp and rush away.
"I heard there was a party going on!" a voice shouts out. "A party hosted by the Xiara Todd! Come out come out wherever you are! We have something to settle!"
Xia sighs, picking up the scent of some of the Jokerz she's taken down. J-Man, Scab, Weasel, Trey, and Tayko. Even the Dee Dees, Woof, Ghoul, Bonk, Chucko, and some others are along. Xia senses about 25.
"If you don't come to us, we'll start taking hostages!" J-Man shouts.
"I heard ya, dreg," Xia responds, stepping through the crowd. "Come back for me to slag you again?"
He grins. "This time I don't think you'll be that lucky."
Xia's four bodyguards walk up beside her with their arms crossed, looking at the Jokerz menacingly.
"You may have more numbers, but you definitely don't have the strength," Xia says, crossing her arms smugly. "You won't win. Leave."
The Jokerz spin around their weapons with wide grins.
"Get 'em," J-Man commands, and they all come flying.
The four bodyguards head forward to fight as Xia stays back watching and knowing they'll beat the Jokerz without her help.
Xia glances at Ami swirling around in circles excited, wanting to partake in the fight.
It doesn't take 5 minutes before all the Jokerz are wasted on the ground.
Xia looks to Alfred asking if there's a place to keep them. She was surprised to learn that there was a prison cell in the basement. That's where they took them and will return for them once the party is over to hand them over to the police. Calling the police now would get them in trouble... and shut down the party. Underage drinking and what not.
"Hey, I'll be back. Bathroom. Tell everyone to get back to partying," she tells the guards on her way back to the party then heads off. She does her business then heads into her room to her snakes. She has the three slither around her arms and takes them down to the cells with the Jokerz.
"Look... who came back boys," J-Man painfully mumbles loudly.
Xia smiles, setting the snakes on the ground. "These three are known as spiny bush vipers. Their poison doesn't have an antidote, so I suggest you behave. Any chance you possibly piss them off, they'll attack you. Be good!" She leaves them with that warning and walks off to return to her party.
Though, before Xiara could get back to the main area of the party, someone tries to yank her into a dark room who covers her mouth. She recognizes the non scent and let's him pull her in to the room.
"Don't scream."
She shoves off his hand. "Wasn't going to, Batman. If you really wanted to get me alone, you could've just asked."
"I need your help."
"Wait, say that again, I think I misheard." She secretly pulls her phone out from her back pocket, pulling up video recording and pressing the start.
"You heard what I said I'm not saying it again."
"Well, if it's really not that important, I'm gonna head back to my–"
"I. Need. Your. Help," he growls out.
She grins, saving the video recording of him saying that and tucking her phone back into her back pocket. "See was that so hard? Now, I thought you said you would never ask for my help? Also, I totally called it that you'd need my help eventually."
"I don't have time for this. You know how to disable a bomb, don't you?"
"Yeah, though how do you know that I can?"
"Mad Stan. Library. Now, come with me, I need you to find and disable a bomb for me."
"Whoa, that sounds a bit dangerous. Who are you and what have you done with Batman?"
"We need to go. Now." He grips her wrist and tries to pull her with him only for her to easily yank him back.
"I can walk myself, thank you."
"How—Nevermind, doesn't matter. Let's hurry."
He leads her to the back where the Batjet is parked.
"Nice ride. Can I drive it?"
"No. Also, I should mention that there's an assassin trying to kill me at the moment," Batman says.
"That's nice to know," she replies, hopping into the tight fit in the back. "I'm too big to sit back here."
"Maybe if you didn't splice yourself, you'd have room."
"I'll admit, the tails do kind of get annoying in these situations," Xia says, petting them. "But it's not like I can get rid of them now."
"We'll talk about that later," he says, sliding into his seat. "Sit in my lap."
"What? No!"
"Do it, we need to go. We only have 10 minutes to find this bomb before it destroys the whole city."
She groans and moves to sit in his lap, making sure to keep her tails out of the way as much as possible.
The roof of the jet slides over them, and they blast off into the city.
"Wait, did you saying you don't know where the bomb is, and we only have 10 minutes?!"
"It's at Gotham Museum of Armaments. I just don't know where inside."
"How the hell are we going to find a bomb in a place like that?! That could be anywhere!"
"With this," Batman says, pulling out a little tracking device and handing it to her. "Frequency scanner. It locates hot receivers."
"I know what a frequency scanner is, I'm not a dumbass."
"Forgot you're trained in this sort of stuff."
"What are you, a stalker?"
"I research anyone who I have a valid reason to," Batman responds.
"How would you even get that info?"
"I have my ways."
She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms.
The rest of the quick ride is silent until they land near the museum. They rush into the museum as Xia uses the tracker only to find a security guard's transceiver.
Xia smells a new scent and takes notice to the shadow from above. "Batman! Assassin!"
He quickly jumps out of the way of her sword. "Keep looking! We got 3 minutes left!" He distracts her.
"How the fuck am I supposed to find this shit in three minutes?!" she shouts, directing the scanner around the room.
"You gotta!" Batman responds.
Batman and the assassin move around the room, destroying everything in their path, or more it was the assassin slicing up everything. They tangle up in the artifacts hanging on the ceiling and continuously drop them down.
Xia continues to dodge all the giant falling debris. "Hey! It's hard enough that I have to find a bomb! Stop making me have to dodge shit too!" A missile falls and opens up beside her. Inside is the ticking down bomb with 30 seconds to spare. "I found it!"
"Can you disarm it?"
"Easily," I say, bending down and yanking out the whole thing. "With 15 seconds to spare."
That's when Batman knocks out the assassin then handcuffs her. He looks back at Xia bewildered. "How'd you know that'd work?"
"Well, this was a timer to send a large enough of an electric charge into this old missile that would make it explode. This 'Little Boy' is anything but little," Xia says, patting the named missile.
He sighs. "I'll leave Curaré here for the police. You're coming with me. We're getting rid of your splicing."
"Who said I wanted to? You can't make me. If I do that my extra senses will go away."
"It is illegal to still be spliced, you do know this?"
"Obviously," Xia scoffs. "But I'd love to see the cops try and touch me."
"Yeah, I know. You're rich. The rich can always buy their way out," Batman scoffs. "You're coming with me anyway."
"I'd like to see you try," Xia replies, crossing her arms. "Make me move from this spot, and I'll let you take me to get rid of my splicing."
"That shouldn't be too hard," he replies, walking off then turning around and powering up his jet boots. He rockets straight towards her and slams into her. He groans in pain, falling to the floor. "Did I hit a brick wall or something?"
Xia smirks down at him, still standing in the exact same place. "You may as well have."
He looks up at her. "There's no way you're that strong from being spliced."
"You're right. I'm just naturally this strong," she replies. "You may know a lot about me, but there's also a lot you don't know."
He growls and stands up, moving behind her. He once again powers up his boots and swoops her up off her feet. He gives a smug smirk. "Got you this time, your highness."
"Cause I let you," she replies. "Now, you gotta show me your Batcave." She wraps her arms around his neck as he takes them to the Batjet.
He sets her down and gets in first, pulling out a bandana. "You gotta wear this."
She crosses her arms. "Are you serious?"
"Can't risk you knowing where the Batcave is at."
She climbs in on his lap then he ties it around her head. "This is kinky, Batman. Didn't think you were into this kind of stuff."
"I'm not."
She ignores him and continues. "But then again, it would make sense. You have a thing for taking down criminals. Yeah, BDSM is totally up your alley."
He doesn't respond and gives her a glare, but he realizes she can't see it. "I'm not. Be quiet." He powers up the Batjet and gets it into the air.
"No, it's entertaining to annoy you." She crosses her arms and leans back into his chest. "Sooo~ if you aren't into that, what are you?" She feels the jerk of the Batjet before he regains control.
"I'm so not talking about this with you."
She shrugs. "Then you're leaving me to assume you're totally into BDSM."
He blinks in annoyance before a thought occurs. "A-Are you... drunk?"
She sputters. "No! Dude, it takes a lot for me to get drunk. Trust me on that."
"How do you know that?"
"It's in my genes," she shrugs. "Are we there yet?"
"Because you're a meta?"
She sighs. "Nope. We there yet?"
He groans as his response.
The rest of the ride is silent as they fly into the Batcave.
"We're here, you can take off the blindfold now."
She quickly rips it off. "Good, that is so not something I'd enjoy." She hops out once the roof slides back and looks around the cave in awe. "Wow, advanced. Pretty schway place you got here." She walks around, taking interest in the wall of cased suits. "Who are they?"
"None of your business."
"I didn't know you had a girl on your team."
"I don't. Those are old suits."
"Oh, right. Forgot you aren't the OG Batman for a second there." She moves up to the Batgirl suit. "It was Batgirl, right?"
"Old Bats doesn't like to talk about them, and he especially doesn't want me talking about it with others."
"I assume he'd probably kill you if he knew I was here." She observes the Batgirl outfit, getting an idea no one close to her would approve of.
"He'd never let me be Batman again if he found out."
"Where is this Batman man anyway?"
"Vacation."
"Mmhmm. Which is why I assume you needed my help cause you can't do this alone. Wow, you truly do suck at this."
Batman grunts and moves to a cabinet off on the side, bending down and plucking out a vial. He grabs a syringe gun and places the vial inside. "Here, the cure is in this. Give me your arm."
She moves to sit on the medical table, swinging her legs back and forth. "How can I trust you?"
"That's for you to decide I guess," he responds, moving up beside her. "This will likely put you to sleep."
"I have a party going on at the moment, if you didn't already know that. I can't just not return, especially after the Jokerz incident."
"Wait, Jokerz?"
"Yeah, they attacked the manor because I've kicked their asses before and were pissy about it and decided to wreck the party only to get rekt themselves. I have them in a cell in the basement. Can't exactly call the cops with alcohol at an underaged party."
He sighs. "Fine, I'll take you back to your place, you tell everyone the party is over, take me to wherever you have the Jokerz, I'll take them to the police, and then return to your room to give you the cure. Sound good?"
"Eh, I'd rather not end the party." Xia suddenly flinches, realizing Ami isn't with her. "Oh shit! We need to hurry back! Ami isn't with me, she's probably loosing her shit!"
"Who's Ami?"
"My ghost! She causes havoc when I'm not around!" Xia rushes over to the Batjet. "Hurry up!" She pulls on the blindfold.
Batman does as told, and they return quickly to the manor.
Inside is chaos. The lights are flickering and the air is heavy, pushing down on everyone. Everyone is freaking out and scared out of their minds, living their worst nightmare. No one is able to move.
No one but Xia can see the giant black mass covering the whole area.
"What's going on?!" Batman shouts, trying to let Xia hear him over all the screaming.
"I can't see a thing. Ami has sucked the room into darkness. Batman, I need you to be my eyes," Xia tells him. "It'll only be a matter of time before you succumb to the nightmares. I have a bit of a resistance to it." Xia points in the center of the black mass. "Take me straight there and don't stop."
"Alright, got it." He grabs her wrist and leads her into the darkness. He immediately feels the harshness pushed down on his chest. "What's... happening?"
"Ami is pissed that she couldn't find me," Xia answers, feeling the heaviness herself. "I'm her best friend, so she worries. This is the result of her worried anger."
Batman freezes as a quick flash of his dad dying passes in his mind. "Xia..."
"You should go," Xia says. "I can find... my way from here. Once I grab her, everything will stop. We can't have anyone see you. I'll meet you back in the room we talked."
"Yeah... okay..." He nods and runs off.
Xia continues her way, finding Ami. "Ami! Please, calm down! I'm okay!" She reaches up and grabs ahold of Ami's wrist, pulling her down into a hug. "It's okay."
Ami immediately relaxes and everything returns to normal. "You... okay?"
"Yes, I'm alright. Batman needed me," Xia whispers to her, letting her go. Xia clears her throat. "I think it's time for everyone to go home! Party's over!"
"What... the hell was that?!" someone shouts.
Everyone begins to once again panic, shouting and mumbling.
"It was a criminal that I took down."
Everyone turns to the voice to see Batman standing on the stage in the ballroom.
"Batman!?"
Batman doesn't reply but leaves in a cloud of smoke.
Xia rolls her eyes at the pure amount of extra that Batman is. She makes her way to the place he was just standing in. "I'm sorry that my party got ruined. Hopefully, next time will be better. It's time for everyone to go."
Everyone then begins to leave.
Alfred moves up beside Xia. "I tried to console Miss Ami, but..."
"It's okay, Alfred."
Ami hovers beside them with her head down in shame. "Sorry..."
"You were just worried about me, it's okay," Xia sighs. "I needed to end the party anyway."
The event people begin to clean everything while the four bodyguards go up to Xia.
"What would you like us to do?" the main guard asks.
Xia sighs. "Batman is gonna take the Jokerz to prison. How about you four go help him do that?"
"Yes, ma'am!"
Batman pops his head out from around the corner then the bodyguards take him to the cell.
Xia sighs. "I should get my snakes."
~~~
Everything goes by and the manor is once again empty. Batman enters Xia's room through her window.
She sighs, sitting back on her bed.
"You ready?" Batman asks.
She brings her tails around to pet them. "I'll miss them, but it's for the best. Yeah, I'm ready."
He moves beside her and injects it into her upper arm. "That should do it."
She groans a bit in pain as she watches her tails disappear. She yawns then pauses. "I... thought that was supposed to get rid of everything?"
"What do you mean?" Batman asks. "Your tails and ears are gone."
She holds out her hand, making sharp claws form from her nails. "Those are the only parts that went away." She runs her tongue along her sharper canines.
"Everything should've gone."
She sighs, closing her eyes and drooping her head. "I guess I should've known this would happen."
"What do you mean?"
"There's some things I'm not allowed to tell others. You should go home Batman." She yawns. "Seems that 'cure' is starting to get to me."
"Goodnight, Xiara," Batman says, vanishing into the night.
She yawns again but quickly shakes out of it. "Alien genes, sometimes are a blessing." She pulls out her computer and heads to the search engine. She types in Batgirl. "Time to do some research."
