Chapter 5: Mixed Feelings: Part I

“You’re doing it Yugi! You have it!” I hear Yumi yelling to me from the ground below. I look down past my feet and see her smiling up and waving her arms at me from a good fifty feet below me. Flying is a great feeling; it gives you this sense of freedom that nothing could ever simulate. Yumi rises in the air and comes up next to me, “It’s official, you can fly!”

I can’t help but smile, this is such an amazing thing, “I…I can’t believe it!” I twirl around and flip in the air. I can barely contain my excitement toward this new ability, “Yumi! Race me!” I say flying all around her.

Yumi eyes me out of the corner of her eyes and grab my jacket collar; I come to a screeching halt, “Yugi let’s be honest here…I could whoop your ass in a flying race.”

I sweat drop and rub the back of my neck, “Oh yeah…I guess so.”

We both descend to the grass covered ground below. Yumi touches down first and she helps me get to the ground. I stumble a little to get my footing and almost fall right on Yumi. She catches me by my shoulders and supports herself by putting her foot back, “Whoa there…you should rest a bit.”

I nod my head, feeling a bit faint, “Okay.”

Yumi leads me over to a large oak tree that stands at the base of the mountain. It’s nearly sundown, the sky is covered in bright pinks and oranges, and the sun has a hot pink tint to it. The grass shines a bit from the dewdrops that cover them. I can hear a river a bit away and the sound of many birds chirping and flapping their wings.

We sit down under the large oak tree. The large braches stretch out in all directions, some being so heavy that they have drooped to the ground. This would be any little kids ideal climbing tree. The bright green leaves seem to block out the outside world, letting only small drops of sunlight in. It’s like a house made of only an intact tree.

“Hey Yugi.” I hear Yumi say as she brings her knees up to her chest, covering her mostly bare stomach. She wears what I think are the clothes she wears when she trains, a black sports bra and running leggings and she wears nothing on her feet. I turn to her and see a blush dusted along her face. She opens her mouth to speak, but then quickly presses her lips into a thin line and turns her head.

I arch my brow in confusion when she turns away from me. I turn my body a bit to face her, “Yeah? What is it?”

I can see the blush on her face darken, and I feel my heart begin to beat faster as I become nervous about what she is thinking, “U-uh…never mind, it’s nothing.”

I sigh and move so that I am sitting in front of Yumi, she hangs her head to hide her redden cheeks. I cross my arms let out a puff of air through my nose, “Yumi, what is this about?”

Yumi tightens her hold on her knees and tries to sink her head farther behind her legs, “I’m sorry…” she says in an almost inaudible whisper.

I uncross my arms and put them on my knees, “What was tha-” Then out of absolutely nowhere, Yumi jumps from her position and pulls me into a tight embrace. I lose my balance and fall back; Yumi lands right on me with her head on my chest. I feel my cheeks get warm and a knot in my stomach, “W-whoa Yumi!”

“I’m sorry.” She repeats. I then feel something wet on my shirt, right under my collarbone. I look down and see that Yumi began to cry.

She’s crying? I thought. I become a bit flustered, she has nothing to apologize for. I sigh and wrap an arm around Yumi, trying to comfort her, “Yumi, don’t cry.”

She looks up to me, her redden cheeks still prominent, “You shouldn’t have seen me like that. You weren’t supposed to see me like that…no one was.” Yumi’s hand forms a fist and takes my black t-shirt up in its grasp, “I’m a monster…”

The surrounding area begins to darken. The sky turns black, the ground turns black, and everything turns black. I look around frantically, looking for anything that could have caused this. But nothing was around; no one was around.

“And that’s who you truly are!” I hear another voice shout; their voice echoing as though it came from every direction.

I turn my head to see if anyone is there, but I see no one. I turn back to Yumi, and she’s gone. I sit up off the ground and notice that the grass has been replaced by concrete. An abandoned warehouse has replaced the large oak tree. I look around and towards where I thought the voice was a second time and then I see them.

Yumi stands in the middle of the warehouse, her hair all golden, her muscles enlarged, and her eyes a sharp teal that I have come to fear. The same eyes I saw on the boat to duelist kingdom. The same eyes she used to hide herself in the castle from us. And the same eyes that I saw only hours ago, when she was able to save us all from Sebastian.

Sebastian also stands by Yumi, his eyes holding a glint of excitement and malice. Sebastian’s head tilts up a little and I see his eyes widen a bit. He then turns his head in my direction. “Oh my Yumi, it seems your boyfriend’s arrived.” He says with a hint of mocking.

Yumi looks over in my direction, with this dead look in her eyes, “Y-yugi… Motou…” she says, her voice working hard to get the words out. I could hear the warning to stay away and the taunting to come forward all in just my name.

Sebastian turns and begins to walk away, “Sick ‘im girl.” He says waving his hand.

Yumi’s eyes harden into a deadly glare and she rushes me. I barely see her as she grabs my shoulders and pins me against the nearest wall; my body colliding with a loud thump. A gasp escapes my breath as the wind gets knock out of me, “Y-yugi…” she says, again struggling with her words which, in no way, matches her deadly glare.

I would be lying if I said that I’m not frightened, I’m physically shaking, a nervous knot lodged in my stomach, my heart racing a million miles a minute; but I try to put on a brave face, “Yumi…please stop this.”

“Yugi…” I she says again. Yumi takes away one of her hands and form an energy ball. She puts her hand right on my stomach and I feel panic begin to set in. The ball gets bigger and bigger.

Yumi leans in, touching her forehead to my own. Her breathing slows down as I can see her eyes close shut, she did not dare look me in the eyes. But then she leans in further so that she can whisper in my ear, “I’m sorry…for not telling you the truth.” The ball of energy got larger

Then I hear a loud explosion.

I come to with a start as I feel my body jerk and my eyes shoot open; it’s like waking up from one of those falling dreams. I stare at the ceiling of the room I’m in; my heart pounding out of my chest. I hear the sound of a heart monitor on my right. I feel something pressing on my right pointer finger, probably the little clasp that connects to the heart monitor.

My whole body has this numbing ache, like when you get electrocuted. And my left hand feels a little sore. I bring my hand up and discover that I have an I.V. in that hand.

“Oh man…what happened to me?” I say letting my bear arm flop down above my head.

“You collapsed after you brought Yumi in.” I hear a woman’s voice say from the other side of the room. My eyes widen from surprise and I turn my head to face the woman.

I see her standing by the computer on a counter connected to the wall. She’s taller that me, maybe five foot-five. Se wears a red, sleeveless dress and a yellow scarf around her neck. Her blue hair is cut in a short bob cut and she wears gold hoop earrings. The woman’s blue eyes widen when she remembers something, “Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Bulma, a friend of Gohan’s and Yumi’s.” Bulma says with a close-eyed smile.

“Yugi, Yugi Motou.” I respond, pushing myself to a seated position.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Yugi Motou.” Bulma comes over from the corner and sits down in the chair that is next to my bed, “Now what on earth happened to you guys? I asked Gohan but I couldn’t get a straight answer out of him.”

“What did he tell you?” I ask curiously, swinging my legs over the side of the bed.

“Not a lot.” Bulma says crossing her arms and legs, “Something about this ‘Sebastian’ guy. How he kidnapped Yumi and you guys went to the rescue but got caught up in the whole deal.”

I become a bit flustered, that’s basically what happened in a nutshell. I blink a few times, “Well, that’s what happened…to put it short anyways.”

“But I would rather have details so I know what to do with Yumi.” Bulma says kind of sternly. She uncrosses her arms and turns in her chair to look out the window into the room across the hall, “The poor girl’s been having nightmares ever since she got here.” Bulma says with sympathy.

I feel this knot form in my stomach, for some reason just the mention of her name sudden makes me nervous. Am I frightened of her now? It’s definitely possible after that nightmare I just had. I sigh and look out past Bulma into the next room, “So I take she’s in that room.” I say flatly.

“Yeah, but she still hasn’t waken up.”   Bulma looks to her watch and she frowns slightly, “I sent Gohan out for those sensu beans forever ago. Where is he?” Bulma sighs a heavy sigh and turns back towards me, “Anyways, Yumi’s been worried sick about you.”

I feel that knot in my stomach tighten and my heart begins to beat a bit faster, “She has?” I question dumbly. What the hell is wrong with me? “Wait, didn’t you say that she still hasn’t woken up?”

“Yeah, she keeps muttering your name in her sleep.” Bulma says almost distantly, “It’s like she’s tape stuck on loop.”

It’s like in that nightmare I just had; she wouldn’t stop repeating my name even when she was trying to kill me. But it was weird because she apologized for not telling me the truth, but what truth is she hiding? Honestly a better question might be what truth is she telling?

“Would you like to see her?” Bulma asks suddenly, “You might be able to wake her up.”

“How’s that?” I ask curiously.

Then Bulma grows this mischievous face, one of the ones were you know that you will regret asking about whatever you asked, “With true love’s kiss of course.”

I’m not exaggerating when I say my face turns about twenty shades of red and it gets really warm in the room. That knot in my stomach tightens even more and I feel this nervous rush run through my whole body “W-what!?”

Bulma then starts laughing uncontrollably and she points her finger at me, “Oh my gosh I knew it! You totally have a thing for Yumi!” My face gets even redder and I feel butterflies begin to fly around my stomach.

Shit…it’s out now, I thought. I sigh and drop my head a little, attempting to hide the ever-prominent redness that rose on my cheeks, “Yeah…I like her. I really, really like her.” I admit, the butterflies ragging in my stomach, “But to be honest, I’m a bit frightened of her now.”

Bulma’s laughing comes to a startling halt and she looks to me with a tough glare, “Yumi is a Saiyan, there’s no helping that, but that is no reason to be frightened of her.”

“Bulma, not to be rude…but you might be wrong about that.” I say, pushing myself farther back on the bed and sitting cross-legged, “the ground shakes and glass shatters when she gets mad, her hair turns blond and her eyes turn blue, not to mention she shoots these deadly beams from her hands. That’s not something that would frighten you?”

Bulma crosses her arms once again, “Well, no because Goku, Gohan, and my husband can do all that. And one day my son and Gohan’s little brother will learn to do that too.” Bulma softens her glare and the corners of her lips curl into a small smile, “Yumi may be strong but she would never intentionally hurt the ones she loves.”

I look up and past Bulma to the window that looks into Yumi’s room. I can’t see her, so she must be lying down. I can see the girl from my vision; I think her name is Harley. She isn’t doing anything other than waiting for her friend to wake up.

“I really do think that you should kiss her though.” Bulma says. I look to her with a puzzled look, “Or at least admit you feelings towards her. I’m serious.”

“I don’t think I could work up the nerve to do that.” I say, my heart pounding even thinking about admitting my feelings or kissing her. I also don’t know if I trust her enough anymore to even start up a relationship with her.

“Look Yugi…I normally don’t go around telling people to kiss other’s just for the heck of it.” Bulma says matter-of-factly. I become a little confused as to what her point is, “Let me elaborate. Yumi’s always been the kind of kid who didn’t like to get to close to people because of who she is…”

“You mean being a Saiyan?” I ask.

“Yeah…whenever someone would get to close, she would start to push away. Other than Gohan and Harley, who are also Saiyans, you are the first person I have met that Yumi actually let in to her life.” Bulma explains.

I then felt this light bulb go off in my head and I remembered one of the first days that Yumi and I were friends….

Homeroom was just about getting underway when the intercom came on and said that a new student was coming up to the class and would be there any minute. Tea and I already knew this student, because we had bumped into her when she was applying to the school. The class was talking and debating about who this student could be. Boy or Girl? Nerd or Athlete? International or local transfer? No one had a clue as to who was to come through those doors.

From the corner I see her walk up to the door. Her multicolored black base, maroon ends, and blond bangs hair standing on end, almost like mine except hers was a bit more relaxed.  Her big, violet eyes stare up, looking up to the room number plastered above the doorframe. Her rounder face softened into a wondering look and she clutched a paper in her hands.

The teacher notices the girl and looks out to the class, “Alright class, it’s about time to start. But before we do, I would like to introduce a new transfer.” He looked out the door and towards the skeptical girl, motioning for her to come in the room, “Come on in Yumi.”

She walks through the door with a steady stride, but I could see that she was a bit nervous about being in a new school with new people, “This is Yumi Matao, and she will be with us for the remainder of the year.” Immediately whispers started up all through the room.

“Isn’t she the girl who beat out Bandit Keith for the Duel Monsters Championship in America?”

“Yeah, I think so.”

“Doesn’t she also hold a martial arts title?”

“Yeah! She got it here in Japan a few years back!”

“No way, it is her!”

Then all of the male students in the room wanted her next to them. They were all saying stuff like ‘Yumi, you can sit by me.’ or ‘No Yumi, sit by me.’ I look to the boys and mentally begged them to shut up. Then I look to Yumi and see the fearful expression that was beginning to surface.

She looks to the teacher and he commands everyone to be quiet, “Now then, Yumi you can go sit by Yugi in the back.” The teacher looks over to me, “Can you raise your hand so Yumi knows where you are?”

I could see when she looked out into the crowd and saw me that some relief came to her. She walked over to the back and took the vacant seat that was next to me. She looked to me with a close-eyed smile and immediately that fearful aura she was emanating dissipated, “Fancy meeting you here.”

Looking back I could tell that she was not very comfortable being in a room full of people; but I guess because we connected so quickly, she was a bit relieved to have someone she knew close by. But she seemed really hesitant towards Joey and Tristan at first, not so much Tea. It took a while for her to become comfortable with them as a group. I guess it was during Duelist Kingdom that she became comfortable with everyone

“I don’t know Bulma…It’s not like I can just waltz in there and plant one on her.” I say stating the obvious, Especially not after I’ve practically been lied to for the past three months.

“Well then… I get everyone out and then I leave it to you.” Bulma says, proud of her little plan. From behind Bulma I see Gohan come running down the hall. He stops in front of the window and knocks on it. Bulma turns around and Gohan holds up a little brown sack, “Well it’s about time.”

Bulma gets up from the chair and goes towards the door. Gohan moves towards the door and Bulma opens it for him, “Sorry it took so long.” Gohan says giving Bulma the little sack. Gohan looks over to me when he realizes that I have woken up, “And it’s good to see that you’re up.”

“It’s good to be up…I guess.” I say, putting my hands behind me and leaning on them for support.

Bulma and Gohan begin to discuss Yumi’s condition amongst them, leaving me to ponder in my own thoughts.

There is absolutely no way that I could work up the nerve to confess my feelings towards Yumi, even if the situation were any different. I really am not sure about how I feel. It feels like she lied to everyone to hide her secret, but at the same time it feels like she didn’t. Tea, Tristan, Joey, Bakura and I did end up finding out the hard way when we all tried to escape from Sebastian during Duelist Kingdom. I know that they all felt betrayed, to be honest I did too, but I still stood up for Yumi.

Even so, I still don’t know how I feel about being around Yumi. She hurt me once, totally by accident, but it did happen and I can’t deny it. She’s been hurt multiple times, and we were almost hurt too. I can’t say that Yumi’s powers aren’t dangerous, but she NEVER uses them unless absolutely necessary.

So where do I go from here. Yumi is a good girl, never gets into the normal troubles that would snare most people. She’s protective; she makes sure that she does everything she can to keep us all safe. At the same time she has a bit of a temper, which in her situation makes everything a bit unpredictable. I’ve seen first hand that her strength is linked strongly to her emotions; one bad comment and things can go horribly wrong.

Its not that I want to cut ties completely with Yumi, I really, really don’t want to, I just want to find out why she hid so much from us. Figure out a bit more about her powers and try to keep her calm so that she doesn’t accidently hurt anyone. I guess even after all this; she is still the same girl I met in the hallways of school. The same girl I’ve seemed to fall for.

“Yugi,” I hear Bulma say to bring me out of my confusing thoughts, “We’re going in to wake Yumi up.”

I feel my heartbeat quicken in pace, but with out even thinking I push myself off the bed and stand up; feeling a little lightheaded at first but then it quickly dissipates. Bulma calls one of the nurses to take out my I.V.(I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that Capsule Corp. has it’s own hospital) and we walk out of my room and across the hall.

I stand outside the window looking into Yumi’s room. She’s still out cold, barely moving but I can see that she is breathing. She has an I.V. in her left hand hooked up to one of those liter bags of sterile fluid. From what I can tell, Yumi is still in her black cropped fighting shirt with the sleeve rolled up and probably in her black shorts.

Harley also stands in the room, still in what I think is her school uniform; a black blazer, red bow, white blouse, kaki plaid shirt, thigh high black socks, and brown loafers. She has her brown hair pulled into a high ponytail with her oddly colored bangs left to hang. Her icy blue eyes are focused straight on Yumi, making sure that no harm comes to her unconscious friend.

Gohan knocks on the door and enters the room followed by Bulma and myself. Harley looks over and her eyes light up when she sees us, “It’s about time Gohan!” She says impatiently.

He walks up to the bed and places the bag in Harley’s hands, “Geez. It’s a long flight, and I haven’t exactly mastered Instant Transmission yet. Give me a break.” Gohan says exasperated.

“Cool it you two.” Bulma says, coming up next to the two teens, “Yumi may be unconscious but I bet she can still hear you.”

I look down to Yumi and I see her eyes twitch a little. I arch my brow and go a bit closer to her. I kneel down next to the bed and put my hand on hers, “OF COURSE I CAN STILL F’ING HEAR YOU ALL!!”

“WHAT THE HELL!?” I exclaim, retracting my hand quickly and falling back onto my butt with a thud. I stare up at the bed wide-eyed, my heart racing from the sudden surprise, was that Yumi? I keep my stare locked on what I can see of Yumi’s face. Her eyes are still closed; she is still unconscious.

“What’s wrong Yugi?” Bulma asks, coming around the bed and helping me back to my feet.

I get to my feet and look to Bulma in bewilderment, “I heard Yumi.” I say quietly, She must still be able to communicate through the mind link. I reach up to the Millennium Puzzle, but then I feel that it is not there, “Where’s my puzzle?” I ask Bulma

“Back in your room.” She says pointing across the hall. I run out and grab the puzzle; I run back in and immediately it starts to glow. I put the puzzle a bit closer to Yumi’s bracelet and the glow brightens, filling the room with a bright light, “What the hell!?” Bulma exclaims, basically mimicking me from a bit earlier.

I put the leather strap around my neck, feeling the familiar weight of the puzzle tug at my neck. The Puzzle would glow brighter and brighter. I through the brightness I could see Yuma standing next to Yumi’s bed, her hand on Yumi’s forehead and a tear threatening to escape her bottom eyelid. She turns to me, and I could hear her plea, Please, I need to be in the bracelet. Then something was nagging me in the back of my head, telling me that the sensu bean thing would not wake up Yumi.

“That bean isn’t going to do anything.” I say distantly.

“What do you mean, ‘It’s not going to do anything’?” Gohan asks, suddenly becoming a bit suspicious.

“I mean, we need to put the Spirit of the Millennium Bracelet, back in the Millennium Bracelet” I say, looking over to the Millennium Bracelet that still adorns Yumi’s slim wrist.

“And be ‘we’, you mean ‘you’, right?” Harley asks, pushing herself off the wall and crossing her arms.

I look down to the glowing artifact that hangs around my neck, hoping that the puzzle can put Yuma back “Yeah…”

I go back to Yumi’s side and get down on one knee. I take up her right hand in my own; even just the simple act brings butterflies to my stomach. I take the Millennium Puzzle and place it on the bed right next to the Millennium Bracelet and a subtle glow consumes both ancient artifacts. I can feel the warmth of the Millennium Symbol, the Eye of Horus, as it begins to form on my forehead with the same glow as the items in front of me. I carefully keep my eyes on the two artifacts; just to make sure nothing happens.

Yugi, is that you?” I hear Yumi’s voice say in my head.

My eyes travel up to Yumi’s still sleeping face. It’s actually strange to see her in such a relaxed state; she is normally walking around on high alert 24/7. I smile seeing her looking so peaceful, “Yeah, it’s me.” I say in my mind, sending my message through the spirit’s mind-link.

I feel a ghostly hand appear on my right shoulder, “Don’t worry Yumi,” Yami says looking to the spirit of the bracelet, “Yugi and I will get Yuma back in the bracelet.” Yami looks down to me, a look of hope and determination gleaming in his eyes. I nod to my invisible friend and look again to Yumi.

“Yumi, can you still hear me?” I ask her through the mind-link

“Yeah, I can.”

“I want you to think hard about Yuma; about how she belongs in the bracelet. Don’t think of anything else. Yami and I will do the rest.” I squeeze her hand to make sure she is listening, and I see her eyes twitch a bit again, “Alright?”

The right corner of her lips twitch, as though she were to smile, “Alright.”

The puzzle and the bracelet both begin to glow brighter than before. The light condenses into a tiny ball, and then explodes outwards around the whole room. The light passes through everyone without hurting anyone, and stops as soon as it hits the wall. I take my eyes off the Millennium Items to look around the room. Everything in the room; the chairs, the TV, the walls, even the bed Yumi is laying on is all covered in this golden tint. The floor under our feet is the same, but as I look the floor I see another pair of feet next to me. My eyes travel up, and I come to see Yami standing next to me not as a spirit, but as a real person.

“Oh my Kami, who are they!?” I hear Bulma exclaim from behind me.

I take the leather strap attached to the puzzle off my neck. I stand up from the floor, still keeping my gentle hold on Yumi’s hand and look to Yami in bewilderment, “What’s happening Yami?” I look past Yami and see Yuma standing there; again as a real person and not as a spirit, “How can they see you both?”

Yami turns and looks to Yuma first; then he looks to Bulma, Gohan, and Harley, “It must be because we are at the boarder of the Shadow Realm.”

“We’re where!?” I hear Yuma exclaim from behind Yami. She comes away from Yumi and comes up next to Yami, “In the Shadow Realm!?” her tone sounds frightened and stressed, this in not good.

“No we’re not in the Shadow Realm.” Yami says, trying to calm down Yuma

“What’s the Shadow Realm?” Harley and Bulma ask in unison, looking to each other in nervousness and confusion.

“Not somewhere we want to be.” Yumi’s voice says, echoing off the walls of the room. Everyone in the room freezes for a second. We all look to each other with wide-eyed and slowly turn around to Yumi’s bed. We still see her unconscious body, but we also see her spirit, or at least what looks like her spirit, just sitting there on the end looking at us.

The Spirit in front of us wears the clothes of the Ancient Saiyaness: Oseye. Her hair is long, down to the middle of her back, with a black base, maroon edges and tips, and blond lighting-shaped bangs. Her eyes are big, just like Yumi’s, and the same, beautiful violet color; her skin a tan bronze. Her clothes are odd though.

She wears a white bandeau looking-thing around her chest and two separate pieces of cloth wrap around her neck to keep it up. On her bottom is a short cream-white skirt and a translucent high-low teal skirt that goes down to her ankles in the back. Golden cuffs cover her calves, her fore arms, and one around her upper left arm and her neck; the one around her neck has a small blue gem hanging from it. This spirit looks like Yumi, but at the same time looks totally different.

“What?” She questions looking at us with an arched brow, “Something wrong?” Did I also mention that we can see right through her?

“Is that Yumi?” Bulma asks, eyeing the spirit with a surprised look.

“It is.” Yami says almost automatically. Without even thinking, my head whips around to face him, There’s no way! Yumi is a person, not a Duel Monster!

“Whoa.” Gohan and Harley both say at the same time, looking to their friend in awe.

“But who’s gonna tell her?” Harley whispers, leaning over to Gohan, “That we can see right through her.”

“I’m not gonna tell her!” He says in more of a whisper-yell.

Yumi’s spirit, clad in the Ancient Saiyaness’ clothing, gets off the bed and walks right between Yami and I. She goes up to Gohan and stands on her toes a bit to be eye level with him, “You’re not gonna tell me what exactly?” She says, crossing her arms and arching her brow in interest.

Gohan sweat-drops and he rubs the back of his neck, “I-it’s nothing Yumi, really.”

I can’t help but look between Yumi’s spirit and her unconscious body; This is too bizarre, even for our little group. I turn to Yami slowly and whisper to him, “You have to know what’s happening.” Yami turns towards me, a confused look hangs in his eyes, “You don’t know?”

“I know that this is the world between your world and the Shadow Realm.” Yami states in a clear tone, “However, I’m not sure why we can see Yumi.” Yami brings his hand up in front of his face, turning it from side to side. He looks up his arms, down to his clothes, “or why everyone can see Yuma and I as though we had bodies.”

“It’s been so long,” Yuma says in a distant voice, also looking over her “body” with a look of confusion and longing, “I had forgotten what it feels like to have a body of my own.”

“But what does it mean?” I hear Yumi ask from the corner. She walks away from Gohan and comes up in front of me, right Yami and I, “I know you are supposed to know everything about the Shadow Realm,” She says quickly turning to Yami and poking him in the chest. He stares down at her, his eyes wide with confusion once again.

“I’m not supposed to know everything.” He responds in a flat tone.

“And you,” Yumi says, turning to me, “It’s not like I don’t have faith in you, but I’m really starting to get worried.” She goes back to the bed where her unconscious body lays. She sits at the feet, looking towards the face, her face, “The fact that now my spirit is out of my body begins to creep me out.”

“No,” Yuma says quickly, as though an idea has just come to her, “Yumi, if we are at the boarder of the Shadow Realm, then it’s possible that all Duel Monsters become real here too!”

Yami then looks to Yuma, the realization sinking in, “That’s right, because part of Yumi’s spirit is also a monster spirit.”

“But that still leaves one question.” I say, my eyes jumping around the room to look everyone in the eye, “If we are here, what does that mean for Yumi and Yuma?”

To be continued…
