Chapter 1: Where...Am I?

"How long till the girl wakes up?" A voice with a hint of an accent asks from a distance far away from me.

"It shouldn't be long now." Another voice responds, this one a bit more familiar, from I bit closer distance. Then I hear footsteps recede, and I am left alone.

I have no clue as to where I am. The last thing I remember was wiping down the counters at the bakeshop after that customer left. And then the rest is black. I thought hard, trying to remember anything that I can. Then a sharp pain runs all through my head and it begins to throb. Gah! Not so smart!

I decide to try and take in all the information I can about my situation. I cannot see though, I seem to have a blindfold on. I know I am sitting in a hard chair, probably made of metal. I try and move my arms a bit, but they are restrained. I try to move my legs; they are also restrained. Then my mid-section as a whole, and that was also restrained. I try and move my tail, and to my surprise, was also restrained and tightly so. So basically, I'm dead weight with my tail being held. Well, trying to run away is out of the question.

I slump back more than I already am. I can try to sense out the people around me, but I don't know if I have the strength. With that tight hold on my tail, my powers are completely useless. I pick up my head from its hanging position and try to keep it up. I get it up, but the muscles in my neck give out so quickly and my head falls back, hitting the back of the chair with a thud. I let out a muffled, "Ow..."

The footsteps I heard earlier begin to work there way towards me. I pretend to be as out of it as I possibly can. If I could fool these guys into thinking I was talking in my sleep, I could buy some time to figure away out of this. The two people come close to me, maybe a few feet away. Then one of them moves right next to my chair on my left side, "It seems that she's awaken." The one right next to me says, his voice cold and sharp as the sound of cracking knees resonates throughout the room as he squats down next to me.

"What are you talking about!" The other, the one with the Egyptian accent, says, "She's still out cold!"

"You have much to learn my friend." The first one says. I know this voice; I know it well. But my head hurts too much to think, "She may not be thinking straight, but she is wide awake."

I feel a cold hand touch my forehead as they pinch the fabric of the blindfold. The fabric is lifted away from my eyes and light floods my vision. The light burns my eyes, "Gah!...At least...give me a pair...of sunglasses." I say, my voice lingering off as I speak. I shut my eyes tight before I get the chance to look at where I am.

"She's weak, but she's still has an attitude." The Egyptian voice guy says, "This plan of yours better work. You still remember our deal."

"Yes, yes, I remember." The one next to me says, standing up from the ground, "But you must let me have my fun." I feel his hand graze my left cheek and I flinch a little. His touch...it's so cold...like his..., "Come on Yumi, open your eyes."

I don't want to open my eyes; I have a strong feeling that I know the face of my captor. But why is it that I can't remember. I can see the outline of his face in my head. This man has sharp features, and his hair is short. He seems to be built, but lean enough that he isn't bulky. Maybe I should open my eyes...but I have a feeling I won't like what I see.

Slowly I open my eyes, letting the light begin to flood my vision. I open and close my eyes a few times; the light bothers my head a bit from my blacking out. I let my head hang, and then I open my eyes all the way. I can see that I am still wearing my school uniform; a pink jacket with white lining, a white button down with a blue bow under the collar, a short blue pleated shirt, black thigh-high socks, and brown loafers. Little strands of my blond bangs hang in my face and one piece of my maroon hair hangs just slightly in my vision.

I pick up my head and look around me. No one stands in my line of vision, all I see is a warehouse. An abandon warehouse that was probably a storage unit for wood and unused wooden crates; seeing as there is scattered wooden beams and wooden crates all around me. The lights above flicker a bit every so often and the floor is made of solid concrete. The walls of this warehouse are made of simple steel, but I can sense a field of some sort on the inside. There are windows lining the top of the wall by the ceiling, it's dark already? Must be nighttime. I look down to the chair that I am restrained in. It's a metal chair with metal restrains holding down my arms, legs, abdomen, and tail. Yeah...escaping may take a while.

A person steps into my line of vision, and my heart immediately begins to beat rapidly and my eyes grow wide. It's...him... He stands at 6' 2" and his features are sharp. He wears a white buttons down shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top button left open with black suit pants. His hair is a mix of a snowy white base and slivery highlights. His eyes are pools of a deadly deep crimson, like blood. In his right ear are two small silver hoop earrings. "Se-Sebastian..." I stutter, my voice cracking from the mix of fear and anger.

"See," He says, brushing a piece of my maroon hair behind my ear, "That wasn't so hard."

"Well the girl is finally awake!" I hear the Egyptian voice man say, "Now what the hell are you going to do Sebastian!?"

"Who are you!?" I yell, whipping my head around to look behind me.

I just stare at the man behind me, not afraid or anything. He stood at about 5' 10" and his skin was a coppery tan. His eyes were stuck in a hard glare but they were a soft purple color and accented with a foreign style of what looked to be eyeliner. His hair was not very unruly, but it had a bit of volume to it and it was a platinum blond color. He wore a gray-purple jack-like shirt that cut off before it belly button with a hood and two chains that hang from both side of the zippered shirt. He wore black pants and a purple belt to hold them up. He wore a lot of gold; long golden cuffs on both forearms, golden cuffs on both triceps, a golden cuff around his neck, and golden earrings that looked like there was an elongated diamond hanging from a sphere. On his feet were leather boots.

"Me?" He asks in a smug tone.

"No, the dancing unicorn. Yes you!" I shout back, getting fed up with this man's arrogance.

"You were right Sebastian, she is quite sarcastic" The foreign man says annoyed turning to Sebastian for a second, then back to me, "You can refer to me as Yami, if that helps any." He spat. I feel my heart sink a little thinking about Yami and Yugi. Do they even know I'm gone? I feel a lump rise in my throat and I turn away from the foreign man who wants me to call him "Yami."

"Yugi is very worried." Sebastian says placing his finger under my chin and bringing my head up, "and Yami has been distraught ever since Yuma disappeared."

Those words hit me like an incoming truck, and I felt my eye begin to water. But then I realized something. He knows about Yuma, and the fact that she is gone... "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER SEBASTAIN!!" I cringe as I feel a sharp pain run up my spine and into my neck. I feel my body go limp after a few seconds and I slump back into the chair. Tears threaten to overflow as the clamp on my tail tightens.

"A tail restraint was a capitol idea." Sebastian says, showing me a remote with a big red button on it, "let this be a lesson. You threaten me, I take away your power." Sebastian put the remote down beside him on the ground. He adjusts himself so that he is kneeling upright in front of me, "Now, lets see what we have to work with." Sebastian puts his hand onto my forehead and closes his eyes. His face is twisted with concentration. Then his eyes shoot open, revealing a ghostly glaze over his dark crimson eyes.

Then I see nothing.

My eyes feel heavy as I begin to open them. My gaze fixates it self on the floor as my eyes try to adjust to the dim lighting. I lie in a cage, my arms and legs bound to the wall by chains. I feel weak and helpless, like a child without a guardian. Beyond the cage is a world of people moving as though they were a tape set to fast-forward. But out the hundreds of people scurrying about at high speeds, there are seven people that move at a normal pace. All of them together, laughing and having a fun time.

I recognize these seven people; they are all my friends.

They disappear from view for only a moment, and reappear in front of my cage. They all stop dead in their tracks when they look at my cage. Tea, Tristan, Joey, Yami, Yugi, Yuma, and Gohan; they look to me with dead gazes.

"Guys!" I exclaim, looking to them with hopeful eyes, "Can you lend me a hand?" The seven turn their heads to each other and shrug their shoulders. My hopeful eyes droop a little seeing their confused expressions, "Guys?"

Gohan steps forward and looks to me with an empty gaze, "Who are you!? And what do you want from us all!?" He spoke to me as though I were a foreign enemy who came to harm the world.

I felt my insides twist at his tone, but I tried to keep a smile on my face, "Gohan, it's me. Maeyumi."

He looks to me with a confused look, "Maeyumi?" He asks, my eyes widening a bit from the little bit of hope I have, "Pretty name, but never met you."

I feel my stomach twist, and I feel the urge to puke. Yet I try to keep hope that someone remembers me, "Yuma! You have to remember me." I say, looking to her with desperate eyes.

Yuma steps up behind Gohan and give me that same empty gaze. She looks to me for a few seconds, taking in every feature and digging deep into her mind. But then her gaze drops, "I'm sorry, I don't know who you are." I feel my heart rip out of my chest. I look to all the others who stand behind Yuma and Gohan. Tristan, Tea, Joey, Yami, and even Yugi; they all stare at me with empty gazes.

The feeling of being forgotten by my closest friends is too much to bear, and I break down in the cage with the empty gazes of my 'friends' peering into my soul.

The sight of the empty warehouse replaces that of the scenario that just played out in my head. At least I think that was in my head. I feel the tears begin to spill over my eyes and travel down my face. I quickly wipe them on my shoulder to rid my face of the water. Sebastian still kneels in front of me. He takes a deep breath and looks to me. "Interesting, a fear of being forgotten. Very similar to your little counterpart."

My breathing is shaky, but I still manage to somehow speak, "What...what did you...do to her?" I ask through shaky breaths.

"That is something you'll learn soon enough." Sebastian says placing his hand to my forehead once again. I feel my body begin to feel light as Sebastian closes his eyes again. His eyes shoot open almost immediately and have the ghostly glaze over them.

Again, I see nothing.

I stand in a clearing. Tall trees surround me on the boundaries of the clearing. The sun is setting in the distance and the sky is full of beautiful colors. It's warm, and still a bit sunny. Still looking around at my surroundings, I take one of the hair ties on my wrist and pull my maroon and black hair into a ponytail; leaving my blond bangs the way they are. As I drop my arms, I see that I am not in my school uniform anymore.

I wear my favorite black spandex fighting shirt; it has long sleeves and cuts off just below my chest. I look down and see that I am wearing my white baggy gi pants with a black band around my hips to hold them up. And then I wear my black fighting boots with a white tie around the ankle. "Well, this is strange." I comment.

"Why is it strange?" I hear Sebastian's voice say from behind me. I turn on my heels and stare at him. He wears a white short sleeve spandex fighting shirt and black baggy gi pants. A smirk creeps up onto his lips, "I thought this was your favorite fighting outfit." I stare at him, not sure how to react to the situation. He sighs and crosses his arms as he begins to walk the perimeter of the clearing while he speaks, "I want to spar with you Yumi. Not a real fight, not strings attached."

My eyes follow him as he keeps walking, "You're not serious?" I say with a bit of a laugh.

"Oh but I am." He says, stopping with his side facing me. He turns to me, "And I am willing to give you the first shot." I arch my brow, "And don't use your fists. I want you to use your energy attacks."

"Your not serious!?" I ask again, this time surprised at the request.

"Again, I am." He says, uncrossing his arms out and extending them out on either side. He spreads his legs to make his body into a star shape. I stand there, completely bewildered. Why the hell would he want me to hit him? I think to myself, "I'm waiting!" He snaps.

I jump from the harsh sound of his voice, but then narrow my eyes, "Have it your way." I say, my voice cold. I bring my hands up in front of my chest and round my fingers. I close my eyes and focus my energy in between my hands. I begin to hear the whooshing of my energy beginning to swirl in my hands form a ball. The wind picks up as my energy level rises. I open my eyes and look at the glowing purple sphere in my hands. I split my legs so that my right leg is back; "Don't blame me if I kill you!" I yell, SHINING FLARE!!" I thrust my hands forward and cross my thumb and index fingers over each other. The purple beam race across the clearing in no time at all and hits Sebastian. The beam hits him head on and continues through the tree line.

I stand up straight and I look to the spot where Sebastian stands, only to see the shadow of another person standing in his spot. The Shadow lifts off the person, and I feel my stomach drop. I feel tears begin to gather as he begins to fall to the ground.

"YUGI!!" I yell, disappearing from my spot across the clearing from him and reappearing next to him as he falls into my arms, "YUGI!! YUGI!! CAN YOU HEAR ME!?" I yell, hysterical from what I had just done. "I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS A TRICK!!" I drop to my knees with Yugi in my arms. I place him on the ground face up and put his back on my lap. I cry and cry while holding Yugi's hands in my own. I bend over and place my forehead on Yugi's; just letting the tears keep coming.

I feel a slight grip begin to form on my hands. I stop crying for a second, and lift my head up once again. I look down at Yugi's face, to find that his eyes are beginning to flutter open, "Yumi...stop...crying." He says, his voice soft and weak.

I stare down at him with an expression of joy and relief, "Yugi!" I exclaim embracing him in my arms, now letting tears of joy flow from my eyes.

"Yumi..." he says, his voice now a bit strained, "can you...heal me?" I nod and immediately release my hold on Yugi and lay him on the ground flat. I place one hand on Yugi's chest and the other on his forehead. A light golden aura surrounds me and travels down my arms; surround Yugi's body almost instantly. He tenses up at first, but then relaxes into the feeling. "Thank you." He says, his voice now sounding a bit stronger.

I bow my head so that my bangs cover my eyes, "I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt you Yugi."

"Yumi," he says, brings his hand up and placing it on top of the one that is on his chest, "I know you would never hurt me on purpose."

"I THOUGHT I KILLED YOU!!" I exclaim, showing my face to him; showing him the tears of fear that I had been flowing down my face. I finish healing Yugi and take my hands off of him.

Yugi instantly sits up and pulls me into a hug, "But you didn't."

The vision ends and I sit up in the chair. Tears were flowing from my eyes and I was breathing even heavier than before. I look up to Sebastian as he takes his hand off my forehead. He looks dazed, like he had just seen a ghost. He shakes his head out and looks to the floor, "The fear of hurting your loved ones." He looks to me, "For someone with your strength and capabilities, it doesn't surprise me that you have a fear such as this."

I hang my head and just stare into my lap. I feel sick, like I'm about to throw up and my limbs are shaking, "What are...what are you doing to me?" I ask, my eyes wide and a lump in my throat forming.

Sebastian again takes his finger and puts in under my chin to lift my head to meet his eyes, "I'm searching for clues, my dear. Clues as to where your power may come from."

I widen my eyes from disbelief, but then narrow them from anger, "SO YOUR DIGGING THROUGH MY HEAD!?" I yell in disbelief, "If you want to know where my power comes from, I suggest you undo these restraints and fight me!"

Sebastian just looks at me and laughs, "Oh Yumi, even I can admit defeat before even fighting you." Sebastian kneels back and sits on his feet before speaking again, "Things were different when you were thirteen, now you are fifteen going on sixteen. You could kill me with one punch."

I look to Sebastian with a confused expression, but then I laugh a bit myself, "I...I get it...now" I say in between my little laughter fits, "You want to break me down from the inside out."

Sebastian smirks, "You are very perceptive Yumi." He says, brushing some of his slivery hair out of his face, "But I must ask you this. You seem much more relaxed than you normally are in my presence; what has happened to make you relaxed?"

I tilt my head to the side and think for a little bit. Even I am not sure of the answer to that one. I guess it's just amusing that Sebastian kidnapped me to do this. "I'll be honest Sebastian, I have no clue. Probably that chloroform you had on that cloth, it's screwing with my head."

Sebastian nods, "Quite possible. It is a very powerful anesthetic." Sebastian kneels up one more time and places his right hand to my forehead, "It should where off in about 10 minutes." My body begins to feel light one last time and Sebastian's eyes develop the ghostly white glaze.

And I see black.

I sit on a bed, in a room similar to my own. It has practically the same rectangular shape with the bed pushed up against the left wall and the closet by the foot of the bed along with a full-length mirror. On the right hand side of the bed is a desk with a duel monsters deck and above the desk is skylight. On the right wall are duel monsters posters and the pile of dirty clothes that everyone has in their room.

I could hear the water running in the next room over, like the sound of water coming from a showerhead. Someone must be taking a shower, I thought. I look down in my lap and see that my clothes have changed again. On top I was wearing a gray cap sleeve, V-neck, loose fitting t-shirt. On bottom, a pair of plain black spandex shorts. I reach up to my hair and feel that is flat on top, so it must be pulled back; except for my bangs.

I hear the water stop running as a squeak comes from the next room over. I hear the sound of towels moving against a person as they dry themselves and the sound of footsteps as they make their way toward the bedroom. Crap! I need to hide! I begin to push myself off the bed as the doorknob of the door turns, too late...

The person opens the door and walks in, closing it behind them. The person is a guy and, Thank Ra, is decent. He wears a pair of "Hanes" Black Boxer Briefs and, at the moment, had a towel draped over his head; so I cannot see the hair or eyes. From the back, I can see that this guy has a fairly toned back and arms. He turns around to face me, and I see that his stomach area has one of those incoming six-packs. I blush a little when I realize that I am staring and turn my head.

Then I hear the towel, which was covering the guy's head, drop to the ground; and then a gasp, "Yumi!?"

I turn at the sound of my name coming from such a familiar voice, "Yugi!?" Should have seen this coming.

"What are you doing here?" He asks, a bit shocked at my sudden appearance in his room, "I was going to meet you in twenty minutes in the park."

I arch my brow, "You were?"

"Yeah," he says crossing the room to get to his closet, "We made plans yesterday so that we could work on my flying."

I stare at his quizzically, but decide to go along with it, "Oh right. I forgot."

Yugi begins to search through the hangers in his closet, "Well since your hear," he says turning to face me, "you might as well help me fond something to wear."

I shrug my shoulders, "Alright" I say. I get up off the bed and walk over to the closet. Then Yugi and I begin to sift through his clothes like one of those clichéd-shopping montages that you see in the movies. It was quite comical; we were literally throwing clothes everywhere. And Yugi could not decide on what to wear. I swear, he's worse than me. After maybe twenty minutes of shifting and contemplating, Yugi finally settled on a black sleeveless shirt and leather pants.

Yugi placed the clothes over the chair on his desk, "Well, that took quite a bit of effort."

I lean against the wall by the foot of the bed, "I'll say. You're worse than me."

Yugi walked over to me and stood right in front of me, "Oh really?"

I shrunk back a bit at Yugi's closeness to me; and keep in mind he is still only in his underwear, "Yugi, aren't you a bit close?" I ask placing my hands on his shoulders, trying to create a bit of space. Yugi closes the space between us. He takes my right hand and holds it; I feel electricity run up my arm. I blush madly when I look into his eyes, seeing how close his face is to mine. Yugi leans his head in placing his forehead to my own, "Yu-"

Yugi cuts me off by gently placing his soft lips onto my own. My eyes widen and my face and ears get warm. He wraps an arm around my back, hugging me closer. His hand is warm through eh fabric of my t-shirt. Then he takes his knee and puts it in between my legs right by my kneecaps; this startles me a little. I feel my heart pound and butterflies rage in my stomach. But after a few moments, I close my eyes and relax into Yugi's kiss. I let my arms find their way around Yugi's neck. We stay like that for a few moments more, until we both need to come up for air.

Yugi reluctantly separates his lips from my own. He keeps his forehead pressed against my own and we breathe a bit heavily from the prolonged kiss. I can't help but smile a little bit; that was my first kiss after all. But then I feel a sudden change in the atmosphere, a darker change.

I took my forehead away from Yugi's, looking into his eyes. But as soon as I look into them, I regret the decision. His eyes are dark now a dark purple that is foreign in his eyes. This color makes Yugi look intimidating, and it's kind of scary.

Yugi moves me away from the wall and picks me up bridal style. I jump when his arms loop under my knees, "Yugi? What gives?" I ask, now a bit nervous. He walks over to the bed and sets me down on my back. Before I even get a chance to move, he gets on top of me. His hands by my head and one knee on either side of my thighs, "Yugi, you're scaring me..." I say, looking up to Yugi with a blush and a terrified expression.

Yugi's bangs hang over his eyes, covering the dark expression that I know lies behind those strands of blond hair. Yugi leans in quickly and attacks my lips with an aggressive kiss. My eyes widen and I feel shivers run through my body. Yugi runs his tongue over my bottom lip, but I deny quickly. I then realize that something is up, this isn't right. Yugi then separates his lips from mine. "Yugi, this isn't like you!"

Yugi goes back in, this time leaving rough kisses on my jaw line. I flinch and close my eyes as panic begins to set in. I feel my energy level begin to rise unintentionally, and I cannot get a grip on it. My hands clench onto the sheets in a tight fist and my head leans back a little, "YUGI!! STOP!!" And with that, all I see are the bright flashes of lightning that crackle around my body.

I come to with the sound of a thud. My eyes shoot open and stare wide-eyed at the floor in front of me, not even registering the fact that Sebastian is not in front of me anymore. A cold sweat formed on my hairline at some point while I was under. My palms were clammy and I had no control of my limbs, they were trembling so badly. I work up the nerve to lift my gaze form the floor and towards Sebastian; who now sits on the floor, a few yards from me, completely dazed.

His expression; a mix of confusion and a hint of fear, "How..." He mutters before trailing off again.

I stare t him with a cold, deadly glare, "How?" I ask, my voice tight, "YOU SHOULD BE ASKING WHY!?"

Sebastian looks to me with and empty, confused gaze, "I'm afraid I do not understand." He says emotionlessly.

I could feel the tears begin to spill over, not being able to hold them in any longer, "WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO ME!?" I scream, my voice cracking from my high pitch, "You know I can't handle this shit! You've known that for years!"

"You know I don't have much control over what I see!" Sebastian yells back. I shrink back and bite my lips from responding. I hang my head as some of Sebastian's lackeys come and undo my restraints. They undo my arms, legs, and abdomen; but keep the cuff on my tail, "Take her to the cell with the others."

The lackey's nods. One of them helps me stand and guides me over towards another part of the warehouse. I try my best not to lean on any of the people bringing me to my place of captivity, but it is near impossible to walk with a hold in my tail. They bring me to the cell and open the door; the one pushes me in, "Your cell mate is here ladies!" the man yells further into the cell with a snicker as he shuts the door with a loud crash.

I look into the cell with an astonished look; there is no way this is supposed to be a cell. It was quite large, the size of a hotel suite. There were three beds, all with cushy looking mattresses and nice looking purple comforters. The cell was painted a baby blue color and had three dressers in it. In the corner are three guitars, all acoustic, and a keyboard. On the wall is a sort of display board full of sheet music.

I walk over to the wall of sheet music and stare at in in awe. There had to be about thirty pages of music in front of me. Some of the music up there I recognized from one of my favorite bands, Skillet, and others I kind of knew. I reach my hand up and run my fingers along the pieces of paper as I can hear the music on the paper play in my head.

"Oh my God..." I hear someone breathe out from behind me. I turn around on my heels, only to almost fall back down to the ground from shock.

In front of me were two girls, both my age. The first, just taller than me and wearing the same clothes, just without the pink jacket and with the shirt open to reveal a black tank. She has tri-colored hair like me; Black base, maroon tips, and golden bangs that shoot up in every direction. Her eyes are sharp pools of amethyst and crimson and hold a surprised expression. Her facial features are also sharp and she has a Saiyan tail.

The second person is the one who really surprises me the most, but seeing her again fills me with so much joy. She has taller figure and piercing blue eyes. Her hair, long and auburn with three greenish-yellow pieces, pulled back into a ponytail. She wore what looks to be her school uniform; Black blazer with red lining, white button down with a red bow around the collar, a short plaid shirt with a tan base and black and salmon stripes, black knee-high socks, and brown loafers. But what I recognized her by was the bell with the white ribbon in her hair; it was her trademark. She was my old training partner.

I feel relief flood my being as I run towards the two figures in front of me, "Yuma! Harley! Thank Ra your alright!" I exclaim, running and embracing my counterpart and long-lost friend in a tight hold.

~Sebastian's P.O.V.~

She expelled me from her mind! It's impossible! No one has been able to do that! And in the vision before, she changed the ending of it! That little twerp was supposed to die in that vision, but somehow Yumi changed that. It's perplexing to say the least, but now I have some idea of how to bring Yumi's power out.

And it all begins with you...Yugi Muto.
