nine. storms and torture

"Clarke!" Beth's voice screamed out as they entered the gates of their camp. Finn was being carried by Jasper as Monroe helped Beth and Octavia. Much to Beth's disapproval, Bellamy was carrying an unconscious Lincoln. Beth wasn't sure what Bellamy was gonna do, but she sure as hell didn't want it to happen. But she has bigger priorities right now as Finn is fighting for his life. "Clarke!" Beth yells again as Clarke finally comes out from the drop ship.

"What's wrong?" She asks as she rushes over to the group. Beth sighed quietly, her breathing very unstable, and she was sweating and crying like crazy.

"It's Finn." Beth answers as tears fall down her face. "He was stabbed."

Beth lets out a sob as Clarke rushes to the boy. "Oh, my God. Finn." Clarke says, taking a look at his wounds.

"Finn!" Another voice screams out. "Oh my god!" They say as they rush forward. Beth looks around for the voice, confused.

"Raven?!" Beth exclaims as the girl rushes through the crowd that was forming, stopping right in front of the group. "Raven?" Beth whispers, barely anyone could hear her. It felt like a weight was lifted from her shoulders as she saw they Reyes girl.

"Beth!" Raven exclaims, happy to see her best friend was alive. She had thought she had died when her wristband went out. She was heartbroken. The Reyes girl lunges herself forward, pulling the Kane girl into a tight hug. "Oh my gosh, B." Raven mutters to her. Beth lets out a small laugh, holding her best friend in the hug.

Beth pulls away first, "How the hell did you get here?" She asks the Reyes girl. A million questions going through her mind. Too many.

"I fixed a pod." Raven answers. "I had help from Abby to come down here." She says, nodding towards Clarke at the mention of her mother.

"Get him to the dropship!" Clarke tells Jasper.

Beth looks over at the blonde, tears still in her eyes. "Can you help him?" She asks, her voice breaking at the thought of the boy she thought of as a brother dying.

Clarke shrugs slightly, putting a hand to her head. "I don't know. I need my mother. Raven, you need to get that radio working." The blonde girl says. Raven doesn't say anything, just watches as the boys take Finn to the dropship. "Raven, go." Clarke says, her voice holding strong even though everything in her wanted to cry out. Clarke turns to Beth as Raven walks away. She looks the redhead up and down, seeing the dried blood on her shirt. "What the hell happened?"

Beth sighs, running a hand through her hair as she tries to decide what to actually tell Clarke. "Me and Octavia were walking back to camp when we both tripped into some ditch. She got knocked unconscious, and my stitches ripped open." Beth explains to her. "The grounder, he uh, saved us. He cauterized my stomach and O's knee. He saved us. He didn't hurt us."

"Okay, if he cauterized it, it should be okay, but let me see it." Clarke says to her, and Beth raises her shirt, not caring who was around. "Okay, it looks good. He did it good. Go up to the third level and try and get some sleep."

"But Finn -"

"I promise I will do what I can to save him, but it won't do him any good if his best friend, which is you, is hurt. Go get some rest, please." Clarke explains to Beth, who gives her a worried look but nods anyway.

"Thank you." Beth says to her, and she nods. Beth walks into the dropship, seeing Finn laying on a table. Raven sat next to her, her eyes not leaving Finn. "He's gonna be okay. He has to be." Beth says to her best friend.

Raven gives her a sad smile and a small nod. Beth hugs the girl tightly. "I love you, Reyes."

"I love you, Kane." Raven says to her. "Now, go get some rest. You look like shit." She says, a small laugh escaping her lips. Beth laughs quietly as well. She kiises Raven's head before walking over to the ladder and slowly climbing up to the third floor.

She closes the hatch behind her, thankful no one else was up here. She grabs a small blanket and goes over to some seats that were placed near the hatch door. Beth lays down, laying the blanket over herself,  thinking about everything that had taken place today and how Lincoln saved her.

-

The sound of voices awoke Beth. She groans as she looks around, seeing the hatch now open, and Nathan Miller and Jones were talking in the corner of the room. There was someone else Beth saw but couldn't tell who it was yet as her eyes were still adjusting to the dark room.

"If you're gonna interrupt a girl's sleep, you better have a damn good reas-" Beth stops as she notices that it's Lincoln that was also in the room. He was tied up to the bars, having him standing. "What the hell are you doing?" She asks the two boys, her voice growing cold as she glares at them.

The three heads snap over and look at her. "Bellamy's orders." Jones says to the girl.

Beth rolls her eyes. "Yeah? Well, I'm ordering to let him go!"

Miller looks at the girl confused. "Beth, he stabbed Finn, you're best friend." He tells her.

"Don't you think I know that?" Beth asks the boy, anger rising in her voice. She doesn't meet eyes with Lincoln as he tries to get her to look at him. She was mad at him for hurting Finn, but it wasn't like he knew who Finn was. "But doing this - It's not gonna help." Beth tells the two boys. "It's gonna start a war, and we can not afford that. Do you guys want the grounders coming in and killing us because you guys tortured him?" Beth asks the two, nodding towards Lincoln when she mentioned him. She looks over at him, seeing him already staring at her. There was a look of sadness in his eyes. Beth sighs and looks away. "I know both of you don't want that. Your friends down here will die, and so will the rest of us if this continues. Your family up on the Ark will come down in the middle of a war we are gonna lose, no matter what. Do you guys want that?" Beth asks the two, knowing she was being a little harsh, but it was the truth.

The two boys look down, not answering her, knowing that she was right with what she was saying. Neither wanted a war, but they didn't want to go against Bellamy.

The hatch opens up again, revealing Bellamy. "Are you out of your fucking mind, Blake?" Beth asks the man, glaring at him as he walks fully into the room.

"He took you and Octavia. Why are you defending him?" Bellamy asks the Kane girl.

Beth rolls her eyes. "He didn't hurt us." She tells him. "And he wasn't going too. He saved my life, I would be dead right now and most likely so would O. So tell me how is this right when all he did was try and help us?"

Bellamy rolls his eyes this time. "He stabbed Finn, your best friend." He says, pointing at the girl.

"I know!" Beth yells out, pissed that everyone was saying that. "But Bellamy, do you want to see a war happen? Do you want to see all of us dead? That means everyone, including your sister."

Bellamy ignores her, looking at Jones and Miller. "Get her out of here." Beth scoffs at the older man's words. Jones walks closer to Beth, causing Lincoln to try and wank on the chains, not wanting Jones to go near Beth.

Beth glares at Jones. "Try and touch me, and I will rip out your throat with my teeth." Jones quickly puts his hands up in surrender and walks a few steps backward, but moves quickly to the side as he ends up right in front of Lincoln.

Beth looks between Bellamy and Nathan. "That goes for both of you and whoever else who tries to get me to leave this room." She says, glaring at the three boys. She looked over at Lincoln, her expression turing softer as she saw him looking back at her, no emotion on his face. Beth gives him a sad look before sitting back down in her seats, not taking her eyes off him.

-

It's been a while since Bellamy started torturing Lincoln. Beth tried to cut in many times but was blatantly ignored, as well as Lincoln stopping her, shaking his head whenever he'd notice her go to speak up to Bellamy. He didn't want her in trouble with her own people. He just wanted her safe.

Miller was in the corner, going through a bag as he started talking. "What's all this stuff?" He asks no one in particular. Beth walks over to him, seeing a few small vials of liquid in his hands.

"It looks like medicine." Bellamy says as he walks closer. Lincoln pulls on his restraints, grunting. "Looks like we found something he doesn't want us to see." Bellamy says, holding up a book.

Beth rolls her eyes. "Give it to me." She says and yanks the book from Bellamy's hand. Lincoln calms down for a second, that is, until Bellamy takes the book back from her. Beth gives Lincoln a sad look as he tries to pull from the restraints.

Bellmay turns a few pages in the book. There was some drawings of some creepy looking men, Beth wasn't sure if it was other grounders, or maybe people from Mount Weather. Bellamy turns a page in the book and everything falls silent. Beth looks down at the page, shocked.

He had drawn Beth.

Bellamy looks over at Miller and then the two look at Beth, who had a confused look on her face. Bellamy looked over at Lincoln, glaring at him as he turned another page. There were tally marks, most likely all adding up to about 102 tally. 102 being the exact number of delinquents that came from the Ark, with Raven now included.

"That's how many people we've lost." Miller says, pointing out the crossed out tally's.

Bellamy looks at Lincoln before looking back at Beth, Jones and Miller. "They've been watching us since we got here." He tells them.

It takes everything inside of Beth to not roll her eyes and say what she was thinking. Like how the hell did Bellamy just realize they've been watching us since we all landed?

Beth rolls her eyes, snatching the book back from Bellamy and going to sit down. Bellamy walks back towards lincoln as Beth looks over at the grounder.

He was already looking at her when she locked eyes with him. She glances down at the book and then back to Lincoln, silently asking if it was okay if she went through the book. Lincoln gives her a soft nod. Beth gives him a small smile before opening the book.

-

The hurricane outside was causing the dropship to shake with the wind. Beth was starting to like the sounds of storms; the way the rain fell and hit the ground, she loved hearing the loud thunder rumbling in the sky. It gave her a weird, calming feeling.

Clarke walks up the hatch, keeping it open behind her. Beth assumed it was to make sure she could still hear everything going on downstairs. "Is he okay?" Beth asks the girl as soon as she steps into the room.

Clarke looks over at the girl. "He's gonna be fine." Beth sighs in relief as a weight is lifted off her shoulders. She was still upset at Finn and Clarke for what they did to Raven, and she wasn't going to forget it, but she was thankful that the Griffin girl was able to save Finn.

"Thank you." Beth says to the blonde. She follows Clarke's gaze to Lincoln, who was still chained up. "Yeah, I tried to stop him. Multiple times." Beth says, sending a glare towards Bellamy, who just ignored her.

"Well, if he didn't hate us before, he does now." Clarke says to Bellamy, and Beth couldn't help but agree. Bellamy should've never taken Lincoln, and especially shouldn't have tortured him.

Clarke and Bellamy walk away from Beth to talk. Normally, Beth would join, but she didn't have the energy too and she was still pretty pissed at Bellamy.

Lincoln looks over at Beth, causing her to look over at him. He gives her a small nod. She gives him a soft smile and a small nod before sitting back down and looking back through his book.

"Clarke! He's seizing!" Raven yelled from downstairs, a few minutes later. Beth put the book to her side before jumping up and rushing down the hatch with Clarke following.

"He was fine then -" Raven explains, trailing off as she didn't know what else to say. Beth grabs onto Raven's hand, squeezing it tightly.

"Okay, get my mother on the radio now!" Clarke demands, but Raven doesn't move, not tearing her eyes from her boyfriend. "Raven, now!" Clarke yells at the girl. If it was any other moment, Beth would have snapped at Clarke for talking to Raven that way, but she understood why she did in that moment.

"The radio's dead. Interference from the storm." She says to Clarke. Beth's eyes widen, scared for what could happen to Finn. "Please don't let him die." Raven says, her voice cracking. A few tears fall from Beth's eyes, worry filling her.

Suddenly, white foam starts forming in Finn's mouth. "Quick, help me get him on his side!" Clarke exclaims to the two girls. The three girls move him on his side as Clarke feels his forhead. "He's burning up."

Beth looks at the girl. "Fluid in his lungs?" She asks and Clarke shrugs slightly. "Did the knife hit something?"

Clarke shakes her head. "This isn't blood. This is something else. I did everything she told me too." Clarke says, talking about her mother. She suddenly stops pacing, looking at the two girls. "I've seen this before." She says to them. "Shortness of breath, fever, seizing." She lists off before a look of realization hits her face. "It's poison."

"Clarke, you sterilized everything. I watched you." Raven says, but Beth was staring down at the knife that was inside of Finn.

Clarke follows Beth's gaze to the knife, finally realizing it. "Not everything." She says before grabbing the knife. "Stay here with Finn, Raven. Beth, come with me." Clarke says and heads up the ladder with Beth following.

Octavia was on the second level as she saw the two girls head up to the third, following them, wondering what was going on. They get up to the third level, and Clarke throws the knife down in front of Lincoln. "What's on this?" She demands to know but gets no answer.

"What are you doing?" The Blake siblings ask the Blonde.

"He poisoned the blade!" Clarke exclaims. "All along, he knew Finn was gonna die." She says, and Beth has to hold back a sob. She couldn't let Finn die. He was her best friend, basically her brother. "What is it?! Is there an antidote?" Clarke asks the man chained up, but still receives no answer. "Where is it?" She yells.

"Clarke!" Beth yells out. The group looks over at her. "He can't understand you!"

Clarke rolls her eyes. "Why are you defending him?" The blonde asks. "Finn, you know the boy who is practically your brother is dying  downstairs, and I don't know how to help him."

Beth sighs at her words. "I'm not defending him!" Beth exclaims. "I am pissed about what he did to Finn, but I damn well know what Bellamy is doing is not right!" Beth yells at the blonde. "Is this what you want us to become, Clarke? People who string up and torture others? This is gonna get us killed. Bellamy's stupid power trip and his stupid need to be in charge is gonna get us all killed. He just started a war that isn't gonna end until all of us are dead. Is that what you want?" Beth asks her.

Clarke sighs, not saying anything to the redhead. She knew Beth was right, but she wasn't gonna talk against Bellamy right now, which Beth didn't understand.

Bellamy grabs a few seatbelts, he turned into a whip. He tried to get Lincoln to talk, but it does not work. Just like Beth had said. Beth tried to stop him as he shoved a sharp piece of metal into Lincoln's hands, but Jones held her back, surprisingly.

"What is taking so long?" Raven asks as she walks upstairs. "He stopped breathing." Raven says, causing Beth to look at her wide-eyed. Clarke goes to run downstairs, but Raven stops her. "He started again, but next time, he might not."

Clarke sighs. "He's not talking."

Raven looks away towards an open panel on the wall. "I'll get him to talk." The Reyes girl grabs some wires that were attached to the wall, wanking them out.

"Rave, what are you doing?" Beth asks her, taking a cautious step forward.

"Getting him to talk." Raven says, not looking over at Beth, and she shoves the wires into Lincoln's chest, electrocuting him. Beth tries to stop her but Bellamy grabs onto her arms.

"Raven!" Beth exclaims but the Reyes girl ignores her.

"Please!" Raven cries out to Lincoln, tears falling down her face as she thought of her boyfriend lying unconscious downstairs. "He's all Beth and I have!" She yells at him, sobbing at this point.

Tears fell down Beth's face. She didn't want to see Finn die, but she knew this wasn't right. Torturing him wasn't the right way. Beth eyes go blurry for a second before she blinks a few tears away. She looks around the room, seeing the knife that Clarke had thrown on the ground.

"Stop!" Beth exclaims, causing them all to look at her, Raven stopping her electrocuting of Lincoln. Beth now had the knife in her hands. Lincoln pulls against the chains as he sees the knife. "Please,"She says, looking at Lincoln. "Help him." He doesn't say anything causing Beth to roll her eyes. "Fine." She mutters before taking the knife and slicing her wrist.

"Beth!" Clarke and Octavia exclaim as Raven yells out. "Beth, what the hell are you doing?"

Beth ignores the group, not breaking her stare from Lincoln. "He dies, I die." She says to him before grabbing the vials. "Which one is it?" She asks him, walking towards him, holding out the vials. "Please." She mutters. "This one?" She asks, holding one up. Lincoln doesn't move or say a word. Beth rolls her eyes, handing the vial to Octavia. "This one?" She asks as she holds it up with the arm she cut, so Lincoln could see it. He shakes his head slightly, telling her no. She looks at the last two vials in her hand and then looks back at him, pleading with him. She grabs the purple vial. "Is it this one?" She asks and looks up at him. He nods slightly, causing her to smile a small smile. "Thank you." She says to him before turning to Clarke. "Here." She says and hands her the purple vial. Clarke nods at her and rushes downstairs.

"Beth-" Raven starts, but Beth shakes her head.

"I'll be fine. Go be with Finn." She says to the Reyes girl, who hugs her tightly before going downstairs, following Clarke.

Beth looks over at Bellamy, Octavia, and Jones. "You boys need to get the fuck out of here before I stab you with this knife." She says to the two boys. Bellamy's eyes widen, and he was about to say something but stopped as Beth grabbed the knife off the ground. "I'm not joking."

Bellamy scoffs before hitting Jones' back, telling him to leave. Bellamy gives her one last look before following the girls and Jones downstairs. Octavia looks over at Beth.

"Thank you." Beth says to her. Octavia nods at her. Beth gives her a small smile before looking over at Lincoln. She gives him a soft smile, he nods slightly at her.

---

A little while later, Beth and Octavia sat a few feet away from Lincoln, the two girls just talking about life.

Clarke had come up and was trying to work on Lincoln's wounds, but after about 4 times of trying, Beth was annoyed. "I'll do it." Beth says to her, taking the rag from Clarke's hands.

"I never wanted him to get hurt, Beth." Clarke says to her, causing Beth to scoff. Beth grabs Lincoln's injured hand, slowly opening it as he allowed her to. "You have to know that. I just wanted to save Finn."

"For the record, you may have gotten the knife out of him, but you didn't save him. I did. That was me. But you tell yourself whatever you need to too sleep tonight and feel better with yourself. You did and said nothing as I pleaded with you and Bellamy." Beth says to the Griffin girl, a glare on her face as she looked at her.

Clarke sighs, leaving the third level of the dropship. Beth lets out a sigh, continuing to clean Lincoln's wounds. She wasn't sure who to trust anymore. Bellamy,  the torturer, Finn the cheater, Clarke the liar. She just didn't know anymore. Finn may not have cheated on Beth, but he did fuck up their family unit. The only family she's had since her mom died and now it was ruined, even if Raven didn't know yet.

"Octavia." Beth whispers after a minute. "Come here." She says and the Blake girl gets up, walking over to the two. "Octavia, meet Lincoln." Beth says, causing Octavia's eyes to widen. "Lincoln, meet Octavia. One of my best friends." She says to the man, who looked at her worriedly. "She won't say anything about your name or anything, I promise." She says to him.

Lincoln looks at her for a moment before nodding. "Nice to meet you, Octavia Kom Skaikru." He says to her. Octavia stares in disbelief at the two. She nods at him, a small smile on her face.

"Did he just say something?" Miller asks, walking over from the corner of the room he's been staying in.

"No." Beth says. "Now, leave us alone before I rip out Jones' throat."

He puts his hand up in surrender before going back to his side of the room. "Octavia, Bellamy doesn't want you up here. You either, Beth." He says to them, causing Beth to roll her eyes.

"Bellamy can go order around someone who actually cares around what he says. That man doesn't order me around." Beth says to him. Octavia sighs, not saying anything. She gets up and gives Beth one last smile before going downstairs. Beth looks back to Lincoln. "I'm so sorry this happened." She whispers to him.

"It's not your fault." He says back to her, whispering so Miller doesn't hear.

Beth sighs at his words. "I should have tried harder to stop it."

"I'm fine. I promise." He says to her.

Beth nods at him. He gives her a small smile, which she returns.

"Beth!" Raven yells from downstairs. Beth sighs, not wanting to deal with everything else right now.

"Go. I'll be fine." Lincoln whispers to her.

Beth nods at Lincoln. "I'll come back and finish this later." She says to him, looking at his hand she still held in her own. He nods at her. She gives him a soft smile before heading to the first level.

Raven was sitting next to a now conscious Finn. "Finn!" Beth exclaims, rushing forward and hugging him.

Finn laughs lightly. "Hey, little sis." He says to her, causing her to smile. "I heard what you did to get the medicine. Thank you." He tells her and she nods. "But don't ever risk your life like that again."He tells her. She laughs lightly and nods.

"I'm so glad you're okay!" Beth says to him before looking over at Raven. "And I'm so glad you're down here, you're gonna have to fill us in later." Raven laughs and nods at the Kane girl. Beth pulls her two closest people into a hug, holding them both. "I've missed this." She mutters to the two. They both hug her back. "The three musketeers are back!" She puts her fist out in the middle of the three of them.

Raven smiles brightly, putting her fist to Beth's. "Three musketeers are back!" She says before girls look at Finn.

"The three musketeers are back!" Finna says with a laugh and puts his fist to theirs. The three laugh and hug again. And for the first time since Beth got down here to Earth, she actually felt happy.
