Chapter 17.

Beth's POV

We stop walking, meeting at the middle. I stand a little bit away from Clarke and her.

"Your warrior knows her place." The girl says, looking at me.

"Your name is Clarke?" She asks her.

"Yes." Clarke answers.

"And you are Beth?" She asks me. I nod. "I'm Anya."

"I think we got off to a rough start, but we want to find a way to live together in peace." Clarke says.

"I understand. You started a war that you don't know how to end." Anya says.

"What? No. We didn't start anything." Clarke says. "You attacked us for no reason."

"No reason? The missiles you launched burned a village to the ground." Anya replies.

"The flares?" Clarke asks in realization. "No. That was a signal meant for our families. We had no idea-" Anya cuts her off.

"You're invaders. Your ship landed in our territory." She tells us.

"We didn't know anyone was here. We thought the ground was uninhabited." Clarke says.

"You knew we were here when you sent an armed raiding party to capture one of us and torture him." I take a deep breath. "These are all acts of war." Anya says. I look straight ahead at the grounder who is standing parallel to me, a few feet away from Anya. I don't trust them but I do trust Finn.

"I see your point. That's why we need to put an end to all of this." Clarke says.

"Lincoln said there are more of you coming down, warriors." Anya looks at me. "More warriors."

"The guard, yes, but also farmers, doctors, engineers. We can help each other but not if we're at war." Clarke says.

"Can you promise that these new arrivals won't attack us, that they'll respect the terms you and I agree on?" Anya asks Clarke.

"I promise we will do everything we can to convince them to honor the terms that we set." Clarke says about her and I. I nod.

"Why would I agree to an alliance that your people can break the moment they get here?" Anya asks. She does have a point. My father, I'm not to sure he would agree.

"If you fire the first shot, those people coming down won't bother negotiating. Our technology- They will wipe you out." I say speaking for the first time.

"They wouldn't be the first to try." Anya says.

All of the sudden I hear Jasper yelling. "Clarke, Beth, run! Run!" I look around. I see Anya about to stab Clarke. I take the knife from my waistband and quickly throw it at Anya. It lodges itself it her shoulder.

"Clarke, Beth, get down! Finn, get back! Go, go!" Bellamy yells from the woods. Lincoln grabs my arm. He then gets hit by an arrow, after moving me away so I didn't.

"Unh!"

"Oh my God! Lincoln!" I say. "You've been hit."

"It's just a scratch." He breaks the arrow. "Unh! Okay." He looks back at me. "Run! Don't stop till you get behind your walls. Go! Take her!" He moves me closer to Finn and O. I feel a sharp pain in my leg.

"Lincoln! No!" I yell as Finn pulls me away.

"Go!" Lincoln yells.

And with that Finn, me, Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia, Jasper and Raven were running back to camp.

It was dark when we got to the walls. We stop running. I lean against Finn, who is helping hold me up as I try and catch my breath, my leg still hurting.

I look down at it. An arrow. "Fuck." I mutter. I suck in a deep breath as I yank it out of my leg. I throw it on the ground. I look and see the others looking at me, slightly worried. "I'm fine." I say.

"You got anything to say?" Bellamy asks Finn.

"Yeah. I told you no guns!" Finn says to Clarke.

"I told you we couldn't trust the Grounders. I was right."

"Why didn't you tell me what you guys were up to?" Raven ask Finn and I. I sigh and look down at my leg, it was bleeding.

"I tried, but you were too busy making bullets for your gun." Finn says to her.

"You're lucky she brought that! They came there to kill you, Finn." Bellamy says.

"You don't know that! Jasper fired the first shot!" Finn yells.

Octavia looks at me then to Jasper. "You ruined everything." She says to him and runs into camp.

"I saved you! You're welcome." He yells following after her.

"Well, if we weren't at war already, we sure as hell are now." Clarke says. I scoff.

"You didn't have to trust the Grounders. You just had to trust me." Finn says. He puts a hand around my waist and helps me walk into camp, with Raven following.

I hear an explosion in the sky as we walk in the middle of camp.

"Looks like your dads early." Raven says. I smile and look at the exodus ship, my smile soon fades.

"Wait." I say, my two best friends look at me. "It's going too fast." I notice no parachute deploying. "No parachute? Something's wrong." I watch Exodus ship impacts heavily with the ground, creating a mushroom cloud. I let out a loud sob as I watch the sky fill with smoke. I feel my knees become weak, Finn helps hold me up. "NO!" I yell staring at the smoke filled sky far away. I just watched the ship my dad was on explode.

Well, that just happened. Poor Beth is now thinking her dad is dead. So happy he actually ain't. But what do you guys think? Beth is becoming a warrior more and more. She threw a knife, without much practice and it still hit Anya. Pretty badass, lol. But what did you guys think of this chapter? Please comment. Thanks for reading. Bye.

-Kelly.
