Bright Lights
*I don't own Transformers or anything affiliated with Transformers. I only own my original characters and plots. All rights go to Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.*
A bright white light illuminated through my eyelids and a loud beeping noise pounded in my ears. I groaned and slowly opened my eyes. I was surrounded by white walls and numerous beeping machines. I looked down and saw that I was in one of those hideous hospital gowns. An IV was also hooked up to my arm. I grimaced and reached over to yank the needle out of my flesh only to be stopped by a hand.
In the chair beside my bed, my dad sat. He raised an eyebrow at me, but also had a very joyful look plastered onto his face.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," he spoke.
He withdrew his hand and smiled at me.
"Why am I in here?" I croaked out.
He sighed and placed a magazine on my bedside table.
"You passed out and have several injuries. You've been out for three days, Rose."
"Three days?" I asked.
He nodded. I looked around the room. It was rather big. A flat screen TV, which was switched on to The CW, hung on the wall. There was a couch at the opposite end of the room and a bathroom too. I noticed that my dad was the only one in here and frowned.
"Where is everyone? Where are we?" I asked him.
"They are in the cafeteria. I wanted to stay here in case you woke up. And at the moment, we are in Chicago," he explained.
"But, how?"
"Private jet and a massive team of medics. Insurance doesn't pay for out of country incidents," he chuckled.
I nodded. The door to the room suddenly opened and Gracie, Jason, Uncle Josh and Lynleigh came through the door. Oddly enough, Lynleigh was carrying Avery on her hip and it was weird considering she hated babies. Their chatter gave me a headache, but once they saw that I was awake, they hushed. Gracie sat her food down on the table and rushed over to me, as did the rest of them.
"SHE'S ALIVE!" Uncle Josh yelled as he ran over to me.
I winced at the loudness of his words, but smiled at him. Lynleigh marched over and as soon as Avery saw me, she held her arms out to me. I took her from Lynleigh's arms and held her against my chest. She hugged me tightly and laid her head in the crook of my neck.
"You're awake," Gracie exclaimed.
"Obviously," Lynleigh retorted.
Gracie shot her a glare but Lynleigh only laughed.
"Watch it, Cammy," Gracie warned.
Lynleigh's eyes widened and her face twisted in annoyance. I raised a brow at them.
"Am I missing something here?" I asked.
"Yesterday, Lynleigh was talking about how her toes looked like camel toes. She had no clue what a camel toe actually was, so we thought it was hilarious. After we told her what they were, Gracie started calling her Cammy," Jason explained.
I snorted but quickly covered my mouth.
"What eighteen year old doesn't know what a camel toe is?" I teased.
Lynleigh glared at me, but I just laughed harder.
"Okay. That's enough," my dad chided.
"Anyways, how are you feeling?" Uncle Josh asked me.
"I actually feel fine," I responded happily.
The door to my room opened and a man in a white jacket walked in, his eyes glued to a clipboard. He noticed the cluster of people by my bed and stopped walking. He looked at me and instantly perked up.
"So, she's awake," he exclaimed as he approached the side of my bed.
"Yes. I'm awake."
"Good. How are you feeling?" he asked me.
"I'm feeling fine. I'm sore, I have a headache, my leg and my back hurts just a bit, but other than that, I'm fine," I told him.
"Well, according to this chart, your vitals are good and your wounds are healing up quite nicely with the stitching's, the antibiotics we've given you and everything else. I'd say you'll be good to go home in about two days.
"You're going to be sore and a little stiff for the next week or so, but that's only because of the nasty spill you took overseas.
"You also have a sprained ankle, but it's nothing major. If you keep the boot on it, you should be fine," he explained.
I looked down and saw a big grey boot covering the lower part of my leg.
"The blow to your head is mainly what put you in here in the first place and almost got you killed, so having a headache is quite understandable in this situation. It should heal up within a week or two. You'll come back in four days to get your stitches out, but then it's up to your body to do everything else, okay?" he finished.
"Yes. Thank you."
He smiled at me and looked at the toddler in my arms. A confused look crossed his face.
"Is that your daughter?" he asked me.
I shook my head.
"No. I saved her back in Australia," I said quietly.
He nodded at my statement. I could hear Avery's soft breathing in my ear. She was sound asleep.
"Well, I'll be off now. One of the nurses will be back to check on you later," he said and walked out the door.
I turned back to my family.
"So, how is everyone else doing? The Autobots and Will and them?" I asked.
"They're good. They're just extremely worried about you," my dad told me.
"Yeah. Especially Bumblebee. Gosh, right now I can't stand him," Lynleigh whined.
Jason smacked her on the back of the head and she hushed. I just laughed at the encounter.
"Tell them not to worry. I'm fine," I told them.
"They're going to be thrilled," Gracie said and rolled her eyes.
"Have you talked to your parents at all since this happened?" I laughed.
"Yes. They're actually staying at the Sheraton just downtown."
"Oh. Well how's everything with the whole Galvatron situation?" I asked them.
My dad smiled at me.
"Galvatron is no more. After he was shot, he basically fell apart. The blast was far too cold. The other prototypes were destroyed as well, which I'm sure you saw. The remains have been collected and shipped to a facility in Washington DC. There, they're going to incinerate them. The temperature will be so great that not even a trace of the metal will survive.
"After they've finished, they're going to take the ashes of the remains and I guess just throw them into the ocean or something," he explained to me.
I smiled in relief.
"So, there's no more of them?"
"No ma'am. The end of their era has come and gone. They won't be bothering us anymore. There are only twelve known mechanical beings on the planet at this very moment and those are the Autobots," he explained.
"Speaking of which, they are also being commended now. Humans have finally taken their head out of their asses and realized that all they've been doing for the past ten damn years is trying to help us and keep us safe. They're accepted by society now. Everyone knows about them, so now we don't have to keep them a secret anymore," Gracie explained happily.
"Really?"
"Well, technically we're still not supposed to tell anyone that they reside with us, but other than that we can speak of them freely," Jason said.
"Yes. It's amazing," Gracie responded.
I smiled again.
"Wow. A lot sure can happen in three days," I joked.
"You're not wrong," Lynleigh said.
"I'm sorry to kick all of you out, but I'm insanely tired," I said.
"We were just about to leave anyway. We've got some important business to attend to," Jason smirked.
"Well, whatever. I don't care. Just leave," I laughed.
My dad took Avery from my arms and kissed my forehead. They all exchanged goodbyes with me and soon were out the door. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
