Chapter Two
Out of the six of you who answered, most of you wanted the chapter now. So here you go. I hope you guys like it. (also remember, most of this chapter isn't from any specific scenes in the episode). Also, you may hate parts of this chapter, or you may like it. And, for those of you who I know are still iffy about reading this because Lincoln is now gone, I still hope you guys will read this for Beth, and not just the love interest, even though that's probably the only reason you started this story in the first place. :) okay, continue... -->
HEAVY LIES THE CROWN
Beth sat at a table with Octavia, not to far from a few Trishanakru members. The two girls were earsdropping on the other Grounders. "The King protects Skaikru. Why?" A man, Beth was unfamiliar with, asks the other members of his Clan and their Ambassador.
"Because he is their puppet, Ilian. And anyone who protects the people who did this are as guilty as they are, even Beth kom Trikru/Skaikru, who once protected us. Roan of Azgeda will hear me." Rafel, the Ambassador of the Clan speaks. Beth glares angrily at the table. She still wanted to protect them all. That's all she's wanted for months, they just weren't seeing that. "As your new ambassador I have the right to challenge him. Single combat." Rafel continues speaking.
"I want justice, Skaikru did this, not the king." The unknown man says to Rafel. "Why not Beth Kom Trikru? Take her out, she's originally Skaikru."
"You want revenge for your family, or not? When Trishanakru controls Polis you will have it. I promise. When the King's head falls, Skaikru falls with it."
The two girls share a look, nodding, before Beth gets up, leaving the Blake girl sitting at the table.
----
Beth walks into the throne room, seeing Echo and Roan speaking. "Sorry for intruding." Beth says, but the sound in her tone makes it clear she's not sorry. She looks at Roan, ignoring Echo. "We need to speak." She looks at Echo, rolling her eyes before looking back at the King. "Alone." She demands.
"You can wait." Echo says, looking behind Beth, seeing Kane walk in with Octavia. "With the other Ambassadors." She says to them. Beth rolls her eyes at the Azgeda woman, her hand placed on her knife that was hidden in her waist band.
Roan looks at Beth. "Echo, leave us." He says, not taking his eyes off of Beth. "Please." He says once he realizes Echo hadn't moved. Echo leaves the room, finally.
"You were right to be concerned about Trishanakru. Rafel is going to challenge you for control." Kane spoke, stepping forward slightly.
"Bold move for a new ambassador." Roan says, before looking up at the three. "So, let him come." Roan says.
Beth shakes her head. "Roan, if he comes for you, they'll start questioning your strength, new ambassador or not. You cannot fight, you're ingured." Beth says to him. "The law states you can pick someone to fight for you, let me-"
He cuts the redhead off, looking her in the eyes. "No, the clans will never accept a leader who hides behind the law. Or another warrior's blade."
Beth rolls her eyes. "Roan-"
"No!" He exclaims.
"Roan!" Beth exclaims loudly, causing her father and Octavia to look in shock, as well as Roan. "We are working together for the sake of our people! If you fight against him, and die. We all die anyways in a stupid war, six months before Priamfaya even comes." She says to him. Roan stands there, not speaking for a moment, still slightly shocked by the Trikru/Skaikru girl's outburst.
Marcus spoke up, before the King had the chance to do so. "We should cancel the gathering or delay it."
"No, letting the ambassadors have a voice keeps the peace here." Roan says. "Azgeda holds this city through force alone and the Flame won't keep the clans at bay forever. If they unite against us, we could lose. And if we lose..."
"They come for Skaikru." Octavia says to him. Beth looks down, a slight cold stone look on her face. She was tired, though she wasn't sure if it was because of the baby or if it was because she's really only had seven-nine hours of sleep within the last week or so. She was exhausted. But she knew she had to keep her head up and stay strong for her people.
Roan nods at Octavia, his words knocking Beth from zoning out anymore. "And the radiation comes for us all."
"No one has to die." Kane says. "The point of our arrangement is to give us time to find a solution that can save everyone."
"And how is that solution coming?" Roan says, giving the older man a look.
Beth rolls her eyes, annoyance running through her. "They're working on it." Beth snaps at the King.
Kane sighs slightly. "In the meantime, I'm here to keep you and my daughter in power. Let me talk to the ambassador."
Roan nods. "Go ahead, do it." He tells Marcus, giving him the okay. Kane turns to leave, though Roan speaks up. "But if you fail, I'll have no choice but to fight."
Beth bites her toungue, not wanting to repeat what she had already said. She knew that if it came down to Roan fighting, she would take his place no matter what the King said to her to try and stop her. Even if she lost, she was okay with it. It meant not having to deal with the last six months of the world. She wouldn't have to deal with anything anymore, though she hated the fact of her child not growing up, at least they wouldn't be born in a locked Alpha station or only God knows elsewhere. Beth didn't want that life for her child, not to grow up with out their father. It broke her heart thinking that Lincoln would never be able to meet their child, put them to bed at night with her, or to hold their baby once he or she was born. Beth's eyes teared up, though she barely noticed as she looked down at the ground.
"Sparring. One hour." Roan says to her, one again, snapping her out of her daydream. Beth looks at him, slightly confused, but nods before leaving the room.
Beth stands alone in the hall, letting out a breath as a few tears fall from her eyes. Everything lately reminded her of Lincoln and everytime she closed her eyes, it was like she watched him get shot and fall to the ground, all over again. She placed a hand on her stomach, a few more tears falling down her face, forgetting the door was open to Roan's room.
Roan watches the redhead from inside the room as she wipe the tears off her face, her stone cold expression returning to her face once again, before walking down the hall, leaving Roan's sight. He sighs, looking down, a slightly confused look on his face to why one of the bravest warriors he knew was crying. Though, he figured it had something to do with her fiance dying. He had heard from guards and those around Polis and some of the Grounders that were taken hostage at Arkadia, that a man named Lincoln, a Trikru member, was shot by Arkadia's Chancellor at the time. He knew Beth and Lincoln were engaged. He knew that she had killed the man that killed Lincoln, at the first chance she got, with no mercy for the man's life.
Maybe that was why Roan agreed to lead their people with her, because he knew that if she had too, she'd kill like that again if the situation was right, but he also knew she wouldn't do it unless it was absolutley nessassary or unless someone had hurt someone of her family/clan. Maybe that was why he respected her, probably more that any other warrior he had known. Because of her strengths and her weaknesses.
----
Beth stood by, watching as Roan and Echo sparred, Abby had just left after watching to make sure the King did not get hurt.
Roan and Echo soon stopped sparring, giving the King a break. "Go guard the square, I'll continue with Beth." Roan orders Echo. The Azgeda Spy was about to protest, but stops, seeing the look on the Kings face. She grabs her sword and begins walking to the door. Echo shoots a glare at Beth as she walks by, leaving the room.
Beth stands there for a moment, unsure if she should say anything or not. She wasn't sure if he had seen her crying outside his room earlier, and to be honest, she was scared he had. She didn't want to seem weak, especially in front of Roan. Roan looks at Beth, catching her eyes. "You ready?" He asks the Skairkru warrior. Beth nods, walking closer to him, pulling out her sword as he held his up.
She sends him a quick, small smirk before swinging her sword. He blocks her move with his, pushing her back slightly. She swings her sword again almost slashing him in the arm, if it weren't for him moving quickly. The swords clash, once, twice again before he suddenly gets the upper hand, pushing her back with his sword again. Beth almost falls back, regaining her balance. She sighs quietly, shaking off the nauseous feeling she felt.
Roan quickly ducks as Beth swings her sword towards him. She rolls her eyes, swinging the sword again, only to be blocked by him grabbing her sword with his hands. "C'mon, you can do better than this, warrior." Roan says to her. "Are you scared?" Beth rolls her eyes once more, annoyed at the man, a cold glare on her face.
"Go to hell." She mutters at him, as he releases the sword. She swings it again, though using her left hand this time causing her to cut his right forearm, as he wasn't expecting it. He looks at her slightly shocked as she swings again before kicking his feet out from under him, causing the man to lose balance, falling back. He falls to the ground, landing on his back, though not before grabbing onto Beth's arm, causing the redheaded warrior to fall on top of him.
Beth's eyes widen as she drops her sword, her hand on his chest as they stared at each other, both knowing that if they were to move a few more inches, their lips would be touching. Both breathing heavily, no one spoke, only stared at each other. Green -hazel- mixing with Blue. Roan leans up slightly, his lips almost touching hers as he whispers, "Stop being scared and just let go." His words effected her, causing her to quickly get up, standing and grabbing her sword off the ground.
Beth decides to ignore their moment, speaking up. "Let's go again." She says raising an eyebrow at the man, her face showing no emotion as she looks at him. He sighs quietly, nodding once before getting in stance. Beth follows in suit before the sounds of swords clashing together echoed around the room and through the halls of the tower.
----
The next day, Beth and Roan sat on two thrones, one Beth's and one Roan's. Beth was in Lexa's old throne. As Roan had one made by the Azgeda people. Neither one having talked about yesterday.
"Your Highness', your loyal ambassadors." A grounder says to the two. Beth nods as Kane and the ambassadors of the other 12 clans enter the throne room.
Kane walks up to the two, speaking. "Beth, Roan, please, it's not too late to cancel." Beth frowns slightly, not happy with the idea of Roan fighting, but knows he's stubborn and won't be stopped.
"You failed. We do this Azgeda's way. Single combat. Take your seat, ambassador." Roan says to Beth's father. Kane takes his seat, Roan notices the Trishankru ambassador's seat is empty.
"Where is Rafel kom Trishankru?" Beth calls out to the others as Echo enters the throne room and whispers something in between Beth and Roan's ears, so they could both hear.
"...his heart stopped." Echo finishes. Beth sighs, looking back at the other Ambassadors as Roan stood and spoke up.
"The Ambassador was found dead this morning. His heart stopped. May the spirits of the Commanders guide him safely home."
"May the spirits of the Commanders guide him safely home." Beth mutters to herself before she and Roan begin the meeting.
Beth looks at Octavia, knowing it was her that had done it, giving the Blake girl the same look Kane was giving Octavia, a look of extreme disappointment. Kai, who Beth was now just seeing for the past few days, stood a few feet away from Octavia, the same look of dissapoint on his face as there was on Kane's and Beth's. This confirmed Beth's thought.
Octavia Kom Skaikru had murdered Rafel Kom Trishankru in cold blood.
"Let's begin." Roan says to the Ambassadors. Octavia leaves the throne room, Beth and Echo both watching as the Blake girl leaves. "We are stronger together." Beth says to the Ambassadors. She looks at Roan, who nods at her to continue. She smiles slightly back before continuing her speach to the Ammbassadors.
-----
Beth stood on the balcony of her room later that night, waiting, for what she had no idea. She looked out onto the city of Polis, hoping that one day, this place wouldn't be corrupt with war.
She hoped that one day, children of the clans, running around and playing. They were now, but she knew that each and everyone -almost everyone- would be trained to become a warrior. She just wished for a future where that wouldn't happen. Where no more war and vengance and chaos. She wanted a future where everyone was at peace, where the clans were at peace with each other and there would be no more fighting.
She wanted that future for her child, and she hoped to be the one to make it happen. She had to be the one to make it happen because as of now, no one else was trying too.
She was going to continue being the warrior for all the Clans, being the leader, if it meant a better life for her child.

There's not as many words/details and such in this chapter, and most of it is my own scenes. There wasn't many places I can fit Beth into right now so I'm just making most of the scenes up as we go. Beth's already badass, but she's about to become a lot more badass the next few chapters, especially the conclave ep. What are your thoughts and opinions on this chapter? Let me know! Thanks for reading. Bye.
-Kelly.
