Chapter One

ECHOES

"Beth, the Flame isn't rejecting you. It's rejecting your child."

Beth climbed down the side of the tower, trying to be careful and not fall to her and her baby's death. She was still in shock after finding out the news from Lexa in the City of Light. Beth ignored the sounds of wailing and crying as she climbed down, knowing Octavia was above her, following the red head.

Beth jumps onto a window seal, quickly catching herself before she fell to her death. "You okay?" Octavia asks the girl, landing next to her. Beth nods, looking out to everyone. "Oh my god. Indra." Octavia mutters before rushing down the ladder. Beth quickly followers her, Kai following the two girls.

Octavia, Beth and Kai get down, rushing past everyone and getting to Indra, who was being helped down by a few other Grounders. "Indra." Octavia says to her and Indra looks over to the three as the other Grounders move away to help others.

"ALIE?" She asks them.

Octavia holds Indra's head. "Gone. It's over." Octavia answers the woman.

"And Pike?" Indra asks, looking over to the red haired girl.

"I killed him." Beth says, nodding at the woman. "I waited until it was done." Indra nods at her and Beth finally takes a moment to look around. Beth sees Clarke and Bellamy talking by themselves. She looks back down at Indra. "Octavia and Kai will stay with you. I'll see you later." Beth says and Indra nods before Beth rushes over to Bellamy and Clarke. "We don't have anything coming. What happened here isn't our faults." Beth says, hearing the end of their conversation. They look over at her. "It's Jaha's and that psychotic computer thing."

Clarke nods before looking over at her. "We need to talk about what happened in the City of Light."

Beth shakes her head, sending a glance to Bellamy then looking back at Clarke. "Not now. Right now, I need to make sure these people are okay."

Clarke sighs but nods. "How do we tell these people that the world is ending after everyhting they've been through?" Clarke asks the two.

"Wait, what?" Beth asks the girl.

"When I flipped the kill switch, ALIE and Becca were both there, telling me that we only have 6 months left until the rest of the nuclear bombs from the first Praimfaya goes off." Clarke explains to her. Beth sighs, running a hand through her hair.

Bellamy shakes his head. "We don't, until we know Alie was telling you the truth."

"It was the truth." Clarke says to him.

Beth nods. "If Becca was there, also saying it then it was the truth. Becca has no reason to lie."

"Still, keep it to ourselves until we know what we're dealing with and how to stop it." Bellamy says to the two girls. Bellamy looks around. "Damn." He mutters.

"You're afraid of how people will react." Clarke says looking at Bellamy but Beth replies.

"We all should be." Beth says to the blonde.

Bellamy looks at Clarke. "Yes, besides, I could use a break from keeping you alive." A small smirk on the boys face as Beth looks between the two. "You gave them back their pain, Clarke. Let's not add to it by telling them they're gonna die in six months." Clarke nods at him. "Good. Once everyone's down, we go home, we get to work. We didn't survive this long just to let a little radiation take us out." He says to the blonde, looking at her.

Suddenly, Beth felt like she was invading on a moment between the two. Beth puts her sword into its holder and walks closer to an older couple, both grounders from Shallow Valley, if Beth was correct. "Let me help you." She says to the woman, who was trying to help her husband cover his wounds. The woman looks at Beth, scared. "Ai laik Beth Kom Trikru. I was Lexa's Seken. Please, let me help." The man nods at her and Beth gives him a small smile. Beth begins helping him as a loud wailing inturpts her.

The couple and Beth look over, seeing another woman with a man, who was dead. Clarke and Bellamy rush to them, Clarke looking over him as Beth realizes who the man was. Clarke says something to Bellamy as the Woman stands. "Wanheda." More attention was caught from the grounders around them. "You did this." More people started looking at the blonde and Bellamy, many whispering.

"You are from Skaikru." The woman next to Beth says. Beth looks at her, sighing. "You caused this." Beth shakes her head.

"No. No, I tried to stop this." Beth says to her.

The man nods at Beth before looking at his wife. "She can help us." He says to his wife. His wife looks at the red head, hesitantly but nods. Beth nods back and helps wrap the mans arm.

"You are from Shallow Valley, yes?" Beth asks the couple, looking up at them. The man nods. "I've never been there, I've only heard things about it." Beth says to them.

The woman smiles lightly. "It's beautiful there." The woman says. "One day, you have to come see it. We have a daughter there, and a granddaughter, young little girl." The woman says to her. Beth smiles at her, nodding.

"I'd love too." Beth says to the woman. Beth stands after she's finished helping the man and woman and walks over to Bellamy and Clarke. "We need to help these people."

Bellamy shakes his head at her. "They don't want our help." Bellamy tells the red haired girl, who shakes her head, not believing that the people don't want help. Some of these people were dying, or already dead and all Beth wanted to do is protect them.

Abby rushes to the girls and Bellamy who were walking past everyone, whispers of Wanheda and Commander Leska's second were going throughout the crowd. Beth hugs her father, who hugs her back. Beth looks between the group. "Good. You're down. We have to go." Beth scoffs, shaking her head at the blonde, not wanting to leave all these people in pain. "The Rover's in the North woods."

"What about the wounded?" Abby asks her daughter, wanting to know what they were doing with all of the hurt people.

"Grounders don't want our help." Bellamy speaks up, causing Beth to shake her head lightly. "Our people, we'll treat at Arkadia." Clarke and Bellamy share a look, nodding.

Beth shakes her head again. "I'm staying." Beth says to them, causing the four to look at her. "I need to help these people. Once they're all okay. I'll be there."

The radio in Bellamy's vest statics lightly as Raven's voice comes through. "Hello?" It statics as her voice echoes lightly. "Bellamy, come in." Raven says through the static.

Beth takes the "Raven, it's Beth. Are you okay?" Beth asks her best friend, worried about her.

"Yeah, we're all in one piece." Beth sighs in relief to her best friends words. "We're okay, Beth."

Bellamy speaks up next, carefully taking the radio from Beth, knowing she could and fully well would, kill him. "Good, there's something we need you to look into." He says to the Reyes girl.

"First tell me how my friends are. Did everyone make it? Clarke?" Raven asks the two. "I know B's okay, but is Clarke?"

"I'm here, thanks to you. Raven did ALIE ever tell you why she created the City of Light?" Clarke asks the mechanic girl.

Beth could hear slight confusion in Raven's next words as she spoke them, "No, why?"

"The king! He's alive we need a healer! " Beth eyes widen at the unknown Grounders words about the Ice Nation King. Beth quickly rushes off to where the Grounders were carrying Roan.

"Put pressure on the wound." Beth tells them, looking down at Roan's wounds. Abby, Clarke, and Kane run after Beth, towards the grounders who are carrying a severely injured Roan.

"Roan? He got shot trying to help me. I thought he was dead." Beth hears Clarke say to them.

Abby checks his pulse. "Not yet, but he's close. No exit wound, we need to get the bullet out quickly." Abby says to them.

Echo comes up from behind Clarke and puts a sword to her neck. Beth eyes widen and she draws her sword, pointing it towards Echo. "Get away from our King." Echo says.

"Wait, no, please." Abby says to Echo as Beth glares at the Ice Nation Warrior.

Kane speaks up next. "You're making a mistake, we're part of the Coalition.'

"I can save him but you have to let me."

"We have our own healer." Echo says to her then turns to the other Grounders. "Take the king to the embassy with the rest of our dead. Do it now! "

Bellamy approaches. "Echo!"

"Bellamy, don't." Clarke says to the Blake boy as Beth steps slowly closer to Echo, her sword still drawn.

Bellamy goes to approach them again but is held back by Kane. "Let her go, Echo! Let her go!" He yells at the Azgeda warrior.

Echo looks at Bellamy. "Back off, Bellamy."

"Your King is my friend, let us help him." Clarke says. "Beth, stand down." Clarke says to Beth. Beth doesn't reply, not moving a muscle, as she kept the sword facing Echo.

"I saw you both in the City of Light, I know you two destroyed it, thank you for that." Echo says to the two. Echo releases Clarke. Beth quickly kicks her feet out, making Echo fall as she kicked her legs. Beth pulls her off the ground, holding her to her knees and holding her head as she placed her sword at Echo's neck.

"Beth no!" Clarke yells. Beth doesn't reply, glaring down at the girl. She suddenly feels the point of a sword at her back, knowing another Azgeda warrior must be behind her. 'Your child' Beth hears a whisper in her head. Beth sighs, releasing Echo, pushing the girl forward as Kane pulls Beth away from the Azgeda Warriors.

Echo glares at Beth, before looking around. "Look around you, Skaikru did this to us. Because of them, your rightful Commander Ontari is dead! This impostor stole her flame." Echo exclaims as she gestures to Clarke.

"No!" Kane exclaims, stepping forward lightly. "Wanheda and Beth both saved us! All of us. Grounder and Skaikru." Kane says to them all.

Echo shakes her head. "There would've been nothing to save us from if not for you."

"Azgeda has no authority here." Kane says to the woman.

"I, in the name of King Roan, as rightful caretakers of the throne of the Commander, Polis is not under Azgeda rule!" Echo says to everyone. Beth shakes her head.

Rockline Ambassador steps forward. "Like hell it is. Where's your war chief, girl?" The woman asks.

"Our war chief is dead, Ambassador. As a member of the Queen's guard, command of the army fallen to me until he awakens." Echo says to the woman.

Rockline Ambassador shakes her head. "If he awakens. Until a new Commander can ascend, Polis is to be ruled by ambassadors of the Coalition and the keeper of the Seken's Flame, Beth Kom Trikru. If Azgeda wants it, they must take it by force." Echo decapitates the Ambassador. Beth's eyes widen.

"Consider it taken. No Skaikru leaves this city. Beth Kom Trikru is not in control. Not now atleast." Echo says to them all. "For Ice Nation!"

Beth glares at the woman as the Azgedians cheer. She looks at Clarke. "Looks like saving the world will have to wait." Clarke sighs.

------

Beth walks back into the Temple, seeing her father and Abby usher the Arkadians out of the back so they don't get caught. Clarke walks over to Beth. "We need to get you check upped." Clarke says to her.

Beth rolls her eyes, placing a hand on her stomach. She looks down and then back up at Clarke, removing her hand. "I'm fine. The- the ba- it's fine." Beth tells her. "I need to make sure my people are okay. Skaikru and Grounders." Beth says. "I need to worry about them." Beth goes to walk away.

Clarke grabs her arm, stopping her. "No. You need to worry about Lincoln's and your child." Beth glares at her at the mention of his name. "Beth, c'mon. You know you need to take care of this child."

"We're all gonna be dead in six months. All of us." Beth says. "And I'm hoping I am. But first, I want to protect these people from a war with Azgeda. Roan can do that. We need to help him, so he can help my people."

Clarke sighs. "Our people." Clarke reminds her.

"Grounders are your people?" Beth asks, no emotion barely on her face except slight anger.

"You're my people, Beth. So that means, your my people and so are your people. Your people are my people." Clarke says to her, a small smile on the blonde's face. Beth smiles lightly.

Beth nods as she notices Octavia, Kai, Indra and Bellamy walk into the room. She looks back at Clarke. "Later, I'll let you do a check up. But we keep this to ourselves." Clarke nods at her. Beth looks down at the Flame in Clarke's hand. "Put it away before Echo sees it." Indra hugs Kane.

"Well?" Clarke asks the others.

Bellamy sighs. "You're not gonna like it."

"When you destroyed the City of Light there were a thousand Azgeda warriors inside the City of Polis." Indra tells the girls, standing in the middle of Beth and Kane. The group were basically in a circle, being the only ones in the temple. Beth sighs, running a hand through her hair.

"Good timing." Octavia says to them.

Indra speaks up next. "The only way to remove them is by force."

"Then let's remove them." Octavia and Beth say. Beth wants them gone to save the rest of the Grounders. Yes, Beth wanted to save Azgeda as well, but she knows how ruthless they are. To Beth, it seemed that Octavia just wanted the war, the battle.

Abby looks at the girls. "Slow down, you're talking about a war."

"Yes, Rockline, Flokru, and Broadleaf will join Trikru without question. We'll still be short." Indra says.

"I can get Shallow Valley and possibly Trishanakru." Beth speaks up. "They respect the Seken's Flame. They'll help." Beth tells them. Indra nods at her.

"This is madness. We should be leaving with the others." Abby says to them all as everyone looks at her.

"They know where we live if we run, they'll follow. There are eight other clans, how do we get them to join us?" Kane asks Indra and Beth.

"I can do it, but I'll need to the flame and Beth's help." Indra says and Beth touches the back of her neck. Beth had put the Seken's Flame back into her neck, giving Clarke, the Commander's Flame she kept in the box.

"Okay." Beth says to her.

Clarke shakes her head. "No."

Beth looks to Clarke, speaking. "Clarke, the other clans will follow whoever has the flame."

"Azgeda won't." Clarke says to her.

"Then we fight, that's the point." Octavia speaks up.

Kai shakes his head, not wanting another war, as Clarke speaks up. "No it's not, the point if we don't have time for a fight. We have to save Roan."

"Save him? They won't let us near him." Octavia says to the blonde. Beth and Clarke share a look.

Abby cuts in, asking, noticing the girls' looks. "Wait a second, what don't we know?"

"The reason ALIE created the City of Light." Beth says to the group, who all look at her confused besides Bellamy and Clarke.

"Why?" Kane asks, looking over at his daughter, but she doesn't reply as she looks at Clarke to answer. Clarke looks at Bellamy, who nods.

Clarke sighs. "Nuclear reactors inside power planets that survived the bombs are melting down. Radiation levels are already rising. If we can't figure out a way to fix it, all of us will be dead in six months." Clarke says to them all, looking at them.

"ALIE told you this?" Kane asks the girls.

Beth nods lightly, replying to her fathers question. "She told Clarke. I got out of the City of Light before Clarke did." Beth says to the group. Kai and Octavia look at her confused at why she left before Clarke. Beth ignores the looks as Abby asks a question.

"And you believe her?" The Griffin woman asks.

"Raven's looking into it." Bellamy tells the woman, his arms crossed over his chest as he stood next to Clarke.

Clarke speaks up. "I believe her." Clarke says about ALIE. Beth nods, agreeing with Clarke, knowing that if Clarke truly blieved that ALIE was telling the truth, then Beth would completely back her up.

"Even if it's true, that's six months away." Indra says to the group. "There are a thousand Ice Nation warriors on the street who want to kill us today."

"They won't kill us." Clarke says to the Trikru warrior woman.

"How could you possibly know that?" Kai asks Clarke.

"Because we're gonna surrender." Beth replies. Everyone looks worriesome at the two girls.

Beth nods at Clarke, who gives her a somewhat worried look as well. They were going to surrender. And Beth was going to help her people.

-----

"Ontari belongs with her people." Beth hears Jaha's voice as he and another Skaikru member brought in Beth and Octavia. They were both wrapped in bloody cloths.

"Put her with the others." Echo says in Trigedasleng, to who Beth is assuming is other Ice Nation Guards. "Who's the other?" She asks.

Jaha looks down at the cloth wrapped Beth. "Another Azgeda warrior. Indra and another leader confirmed it." Jaha says, hoping they didn't open the cloth.

"Put them with Ontari and the others." Echo says to the guards, who lift up Beth and carry her somewhere else. "And show him how Ice Nation repays a favor to the bringer of the Key." Echo says in Trigedasleng to a few guards.

Beth hears the sounds of cracks, Jaha groaning and kicks being kicked to the ex Chancellor.

Suddenly, another guard quickly enters the room, speaking, causing all the sounds of Jaha getting beat, stop. "Skaikru is surrendering."

Everyone turns to him. Echo turns away from the king, who layed on a table in the middle of the room, unconsious from his wounds.

"Guard the King." Echo's voice speaks out to guards. "The rest, on me." Echo says before walking towards the door. She turns to Jaha. "And bring him too." She says and leaves the room.

The room got entirely quiet, the only noise is the four guards that were left to guard their King. Beth waits a moment, taking a deep breath before she looked down at her stomach. "You'll be okay." She barely mutters to her baby, making sure not to be loud. "Now." She whispers.

She drags up her knife, slicing the cloth open as Octavia does the same. Beth quietly sits up, seeing the Azgeda healer and another standing next to him as they looked over Roan. She looks to the door, seeing two guards facing the hall. Beth quickly but quietly walks to the middle of the room, along with Octavia. She nudges Octavia, pointing to the two guards by the door, before gesturing to herself and the two by Roan. Octavia nods before quickly running and slidding on her knees and stabbing the two door guards with her knives in their stomach.

The noise causes the two at the table to look back, seeing Beth smirking at them. She quickly throws a dagger into ones neck, causing blood to rush out. The other quickly comes up behind her, wrapping his arm around her neck, choking her. She gasps lightly, the feeling of her throat crushing as his arm goes tighter and tighter.

Ignoring the black spots clouding her vision, Beth lifts her leg and kick back into the mans knee, making him fall. She quickly gets out of his grasp, rushing over to the rope she saw on the floor, she quickly wraps the rope around his neck, choking him. Being a lot larger than her, he stands, trying to slam her into the wall, she kicks the man's back of his knee, causing him to fall once more. Practically realizing that the rope was barely working, as he was down, Beth grabs his head in her hands quickly snapping his neck.

She sighs, catching her breath. Octavia looks at her, giving her a slightly concered look. Beth nods at her. "City of Light took a lot out of me." Beth mutters to her. Octavia nods, though not fully believing her.

Octavia rushes to the locked secret door, looking at Clarke and Abby. "Your King's on the table." Octavia says to the two Griffin women.

Clarke looks in, though not walking in. She looks at Beth, who nods. Clarke nods and walks into the room, Abby following as Octavia closes the door. Clarke notices the slight bruises on Beth's neck. Beth points to the guard with the snapped neck. "That asshole did it. I'm fine." Clarke gave Beth an unsure look. "I'm fine." Clarke nods and goes to the King, but not before handing Beth, Beth's sword. She looks at a cloth, lifting it up.

Abby looks at Octavia, seeing the two guards at the door. "Well, go save him." Octavia says to the older woman. Abby walks over to where Clarke was by the King.

Beth sighs, looking towards the closed doors, holding her sword, as if just waiting for the guards to appear.

----------

Beth looked out the window, sighing. It was now night as the other Skaikru members were surrendering still or at least still speaking with Echo. Beth closes her eyes, taking a deep breath and exhaling. She was beyond tired, but knew she couldn't do anything about it right now. She had to wait, all that mattered now was saving Roan and her and Clarke speaking to him.

Beth looked out the window, seeing Bellamy and Echo talking. She looks back at the others. "We have to hurry, guys." Beth walks over to Clarke and Abby. "What do you need me to do?"

"I need more time." Abby says. A clamp was in Roans wound as Clarke held cloth to try and stop the bleeding. "The bullet is pressing against his carotid. It's cutting off blood flow to his brain." Beth looks at the woman worriedly. "As soon as I get it out, he should wake up." She tells the three girls and begins to slowly pull it out.

------

"Come on, come on." Abby mutters, still trying to pull out the bullet. "Almost there." She says to the girls, but to Beth, she felt Abby was talking to herself. She pulls out the bullet. "Got it." Abby says, putting the bullet in a bowl.

Beth nods at her as Clarke says. "Good job." The blonde mutters to her mother. "What now?" Clarke asks, holding cloth over the mans bullet wound.

"Now we wait." Abby says to them. "His breathing is still too shallow."

Clarke's eyes widen. "You said his lungs were fine." Clarke says to the woman. Beth runs a hand through her hair.

"No. I said I thought so." Abby corrects her daughter.

"Well how do we help him?" Beth asks the two. "There's no antidote to help him like when Finn got hurt."

Abby doesn't respond to the red haired warrior. "It's possible a bullet fragment could've lodged in the tissue." She says to them. Beth looks over to Octavia, seeing her look out the window before looking over at the other women before looking out the small cut out window.

Beth walks over to the window, seeing Echo try to walk back but Bellamy grabs her and everyone draws their swords, Indra as well. Beth's eyes widen as Echo flips Bellamy, holding a knife to his throat. "Screw this." Octavia mutters, rushing back to Clarke and Abby. Beth sighs and follows. "We have to go."

"We can't." Beth says to her.

Abby shakes her head. "He needs more time." Clarke looks at her mother.

"If Roan doesn't wake up, we're all dead." Clarke says to them.

Beth sighs. "I'll atleast be able to take out Echo in the process." Clarke glares at the redhead before looking back down at Roan.

-------

There was a loud bang on the door, causing the four women to share a look. "They're here." Abby says as they were all still by Roan.

Octavia looks up at them. "Back door." She says to the three.

"I have to close or he'll bleed out." Abby says, rushing to get the stuff she needed as Beth helped.

Octavia grabs Beth's arm. "No. We have to go, or we'll bleed out." Octavia tells them.

Clarke stuffs a cloth into the mans gunshot wound. "This is gonna have to do." She finishes and looks at the three. "Go." She says and they rush to the back door as the guards break in the door they were about to go through.

They quickly stop, going to run for the front doors but are met with more guards, including Echo. Octavia and Beth start fighting the ones from the backdoor. Beth punches one but is then grabbed by two more, who restrain her. She tries to fight their grasps as Octavia, Clarke and Abby are grabbed as well.

Echo walks in as the four are trying to fight off the guards. Another drags in Bellamy, as Echo puts a sword to his throat.

Octavia and Beth stop fighting the guards along with Clarke and Abby. "They were trying to kill the King!" Echo calls out. "Check him!" She yells. Beth rolls her eyes, knowing that if she spoke none of the Azgedians would believe her anyway.

Though Clarke speaks up to the woman. "No. We were trying to save him." She says to Echo. Echo walks away from Bellamy, putting the sword down, moving to stand in front of Clarke. Beth glares at the Azgeda warrior.

Echo suddenly lifts her sword, yelling. "For my Queen!" A sudden voice stops Echo as she was about to bring the blade down to Clarke's throat.

"Wait!" Beth eyes widen as she turns and sees Roan sitting up, coughing. She mutters his name quietly, not being heard by anyone. Clarke lets out a breath of relief, sighing lightly.

Echo quickly drops her sword, "My King." She says and bows her head.

"Roan, help us." Clarke says to the man as everyone looks at him. Beth looks at his wound before looking back up at his face. "Tell them we're friends." She says to the Azgeda King. Roan stands, holding his wound, trying to walk forward, coughing.

"You shouldn't try and stand so soon." Abby says trying to move from the guards grasp to help the King.

Roan ignores the woman, looking at Beth for a moment, noticing her eyes on him, before he looks up to Echo. "Where is Ontari?" He asks.

"Dead, sire, killed by them." Echo replies. Beth snaps her head towards Echo and glares at her.

Clarke looks back at Echo before looking back to Roan, speaking. "We couldn't save her, but we did what we came here to do." Clarke tells him.

"The City of Light is gone, Roan. That's what we came to do." Beth says to him, looking back at him. "Now honor your promise to protect Skaikru." Beth tells the slightly older man.

Roan looks up at Beth. "That was before your people shot me and killed my Commander." Roan says to the redhead. Beth glares, noticing the look in Roan's eyes, knowing that he was not going to do what she asked of him.

"We just saved your damn life." Octavia says to the man.

Echo walks past Clarke and Abby, ignoring the glare from the redhaired Seken. "Roan, your people are hungry for you to lead them." She says to him, looking at him. "Do so now as your mother would have." Beth scoffs quietly, remembering the woman, remembering how much she hated the Azgeda Queen. "Kill Wanheda, and take back Beth's flame. She does not deserve it." Beth glares at the woman.

"And you do?" Beth mutters though no one hears her other than Octavia, who gives the older girl a look.

"Take Wanheda's power and rule over everything." Echo continues saying to the King.

Clarke and Beth share a worried look, scared that Roan may actually try and kill the blonde Wanheda.

----------

They were all now locked up in a cell.

Clarke sat by herself, staring at the Flame as Beth sat in a corner with a hand on her stomach. Octavia was by a chained to a wall with Kai. They were all chained up. Beth closed her eyes, leaning her head against the wall, she was a few feet away from were Clarke was.

Beth looks up as she hears Abby's chains as she moved closer to Clarke. Abby brushes a piece of Clarke's hair out of her face. "I know that look." She says to her daughter.

Clarke looks back down at the Flame, causing Beth to sigh. Beth knew Clarke was in love with Lexa, and that her death took a hard toll on her, hell it took a hard toll on Beth as well, but not in the way it did with Clarke, not in the way Lincoln's did. Lexa was Beth's leader, her Commander, her teacher, her friend. And seeing her back in the City of Light wasn't the easiest thing for either one of the girls. Clarke looks back at her mother, tears in her eyes. "I loved her, mom." Clarke's voice broke as she spoke.

Beth closes her eyes, trying to force away the tears that threatened to fall, knowing exactly how Clarke felt about losing someone she loved. But to Beth, it was different, Clarke got her goodbye, twice. Beth didn't get a goodbye, she didn't even get to do Lincoln's funeral when they were doing Sinclair's. That broke her heart even more, when Bellamy came back with no body. "I know." Abby says to her daughter. Clarke sobs, as Beth looks at Bellamy and her father who were on the other wall. She noticed Bellamy's look, and if she was right, so did her father.

Suddenly, two men speaking Trigdasleng spoke as they opened the gate to the cell. "Wanheda, Heda's Seken. On your feet." Beth and Clarke quickly stand as four men walk into the cell towards the girls.

"Where's the King?" Clarke asks them. Echo follows in after the men causing Beth to roll her eyes. She was really getting tired of the brunette woman. The guards unlock Beth and Clarke's chains. "Hey, I need to see Roan." Clarke exclaims.

A bag each was forced over the two girls' heads as Bellamy and Kane start to protest. "Hey, hey. Let them go!" Bellamy exclaims.

"No!" Kane exclaims as Echo just stood and watched.

"Echo! Echo, listen to me!" Bellamy yells as the men drag the two 18 year olds out of the cell.

"Wait!" Kane and Abby both yell as the girls are taken.

----

"Wanheda and Beth, as requested." Beth hears Echo's voice as she still had the bag over her head. The bags were suddenly ripped off the girls' heads. Beth adjusts her eyes and sees Roan sitting on a chair, a crown placed on his head."Shall I summon the war chiefs?" Echo asks the man.

"No." Roan says, his face showing no emotion as he looked at the three woman.

"Sire-" He cuts off Echo, saying, "Get out." Echo looks to Clarke and Beth before walking out of the room, the other guards following behind. "It's always something with you two, isn't it?" He asks as the guards leave the room.

"Roan, we need your help." Clarke says to the man as Beth stays quiet, as she had a hand on the back of her neck, feeling the cut where she had the Seken's Flame.

Roan looks at Beth, noticing her touching the back of her neck, before looking back at Clarke. "Well, this should be good."

"Somethings coming, something unlike anything we've seen before." Clarke says to the man.

"What's coming?" He asks them.

Beth sighs lightly, taking her hand off the back of her neck and to her side, resting near her knife she had hidden. "You know the fire that ended the world." Beth says to the man. "Called Praimfaya. It'll be like that, a wave of radiation that'll kill everything in it's path." She explains to him, seeing his looks of doubt.

Roan stands and walks to the two girls, standing in front of them, more so in front of Beth. "Our ancestors survived Praimfaya, and so will we."

Clarke shakes her head lightly. "No, you won't, not this time, not without us." Clarke says to the King.

People shouting from down below gathers their attention, causing Roan to look over his shoulder then back at the two girls, before walking to the windows. Beth follows with Clarke after the two. "Look." Clarke begins. "I don't know if we can stop it, but if we can't, all of us will be dead in six months." Clarke says as the three stop at the windows.

Beth doesn't say anything, waiting for one of the other two to talk. "Science is our only hope. Please, honor Lexa's coalition. Recognize Skaikru as the 13th Clan so we can go home and come up with a way for us to survive, all of us." Clarke says. Beth looks out towards the people down in the square as the shouting continues. She places a hand on her stomach, knowing she will do whatever it takes to protect her people, and her baby.

"Listen to that." He says, gesturing to the window and the people below. "I let you both live, I'll be dead in six days, not six months. Sorry. Can't."

Beth shakes her head. "No, I won't let them kill you." She says as she stared out the window, not even looking at the man. There was no emotion held in her voice or on her face.

"Jus drein jus daun!" The crowd all yells, the shouting seemingly getting louder and louder.

After a few moments of them looking out, Clarke looks down at her hands. She holds out her hand to him. "I'll give you this." She says to him. Beth's eyes widen at the sight of the Flame.

Roan looks down at the blondes hand, seeing the Flame, the thing that held the minds of all of the Commanders to ever live. Becca, Lexa and every other Commander ever. "We were told it was lost." He says, looking at the two woman. "You give me one good reason why I shouldn't just take that and cut off your heads."

Beth smirks, "Well for one, you won't get the Seken's Flame, besides you probably won't be able to find another Nightblood soon so I'm the only one right now with a link to the Commanders, and you can't afford to sever that link." Beth says to the man, who sends him a glare. "And two, Clarke and I just gave you the other."

Clarke looks at the man. "You know I wouldn't be offering this unless what we're saying is the truth." No one said anything for a moment, as Roan stared at the girls, waiting to see if they were lying to him or not. "Take it." Clarke says to Roan, still holding it out in her hand. "The clans will follow you and Beth, if you have it. That's what you want."

"I want what's best for my people, same as you." Roan says to them.

"Then help us save them." Beth says to him. "Take the Flame and let me help you. You have no true Commander, but you do have me. And you know you can't just stick the Seken's Flame into just anyone. It has to be someone a Commander chooses. The last true Commander was Lexa and she chose me, so until you find a true Commander to chose a Seken, you're stuck with me. Unless you kill me." Beth explains to him, knowing he already knows she's right.

"Roan, listen to us." Clarke says. The man looks towards the windows, hearing the yelling continue. "You wanted and Ice Nation Commander. With this, you control who ascends." She says, holding it up to him. "There will never be a Commander to rule over Azgeda unless you allow it." The shouting continues as Roan looks at the two girls.

Clarke looks down at the Flame, causing Beth and Roan to as well. Roan takes the Flame in his hand, as Clarke looks at it sadly before looking back up at the man, a tear falling down her face. Roan glances at Beth before walking away. Clarke and Beth watch him walk away.

---------

"I know you've all come here for an execution, but no one else has to die here today." Roan speaks out to everyone. "The City of Light has fallen..." Beth stood off in the back near Octavia and her father. "And there is no Commanderleft to rule us. Until another Nightblood ascends, I- King Roan of Azgeda, eldest son of Nia, Grandson of Theo, am caretaker of the Throne and Keeper of The Flame." Roan holds up the Flame. Beth sighs as she feels her fathers stare.

"You're a King not a Priest!" A voice yells out from the crowd. "This is blasphemy!" The women's voice yells out. Beth knew the woman was right, but whatelse was Roan supposed to do without another Flamekeeper. It was the only way to keep order amoung the Clans.

"Not blasphemy!" Roan calls out to the woman. "Order!" Roan says. "Until another Commander ascends, Azgeda honors and will defend the coalition of the last true Commander, Lexa Kom Trikru, including the 13th Clan." People start whispering all around. Roan speaks up again, continuing his speech. "As well as let Beth Kom Trikru help rule as the Seken of The Clans, as Commander Lexa had done."

Kane looks over at his daughter. She looks back at him and nods. Clarke nods at Beth, who Beth had turned to look to. Beth nods at the blonde, before looking back at Roan. "Let it be known, that an attack against Skaikru is an attack against us all."

Roan looked out at Beth, barely nodding at her. She nods back at the King.

---------

Beth stood next to Kane, Abby and Octavia with Kai and Indra next to them.Bellamy and Clarke walked towards Echo as she walked towards them.

"From your King." Echo says before holding out something and unwrapping the cloth. "With this you'll be safe in any of our lands." Bellamy goes to grab it as Echo asks, "You think we'll ever be able to trust each other again?"

Beth scoffs as Bellamy answers. "I doubt it."

Echo moves back a step, her face faltering for half a second at his reply before going back to look at everyone. "Welcome back to the Coalition." She says and walks away as Bellamy walks back to the group, holding the 'safe passage' token.

"Can I kill her yet?" Beth asks. Kane, Bellamy and Abby give her a look. Beth rolls her eyes before Bellamy speaks up. "Time to go."

"We'll do our best to keep the King on his throne." Marcus says to Bellamy and Clarke.

Beth nods. "He's not leaving the throne. I'll make sure of it." Clarke gives the girl a look. Beth nods at her.

"We'll find a way to beat the Radiation." Clarke says, looking over at Bellamy.

"If either of you screw up this up, we die." Octavia says to the group. Everyone looks over at Octavia as Beth rolls her eyes. "No pressure."

Bellamy speaks up, looking at his sister. "This is serious, O. If anyone finds out why Roan helped us, it'll be every clan for itself." He says to her. "The King will fall, and they'll come after us." Octavia doesn't reply, just keeps a straight face.

"It's getting dark. Let's do this." Clarke says to the group. Abby and Clarke share a hug while Bellamy nods at Beth. She sends him an uneasy look but nods back. She still couldn't forgive him for Lincoln's death, but she didn't want anything to happen to him.

Kane and Bellamy clasp hands. "You turn the page." Kane says to Bellamy. Bellamy nods and goes to walk away but Kane stops him. "You turn the page, and don't look back." Kane tells him. "You do better today than you did yesterday. You understand?" Bellamy nods at the older man, looking down. "Before you know it, you'll deserve to survive." Clarke, Beth and Abby were looking at the two.

"I hope so." Bellamy says to him.

Clarke pulls Beth to the side, away from the others. "Find a healer, or ask my mother, but you need to make sure you keep that baby safe."

Beth nods. "I will. I promise, Clarke." Clarke nods at her and then the two hug each other. "May we meet again." Beth whispers to her.

"We will." Clarke whispers to her, pulling out of the hug. Beth and Clarke nod at each other before Clarke and Bellamy walk away from the group.

"The youth inherited the Earth." Marcus says to no one inparticular.

"And they have six months to save it." Abby replies. The group walks away towards the city.

Beth places a hand on her stomach, though no one noticing, to her relief. She didn't want anyone knowing, because if they do, especially the clans, they'll try and use it against her. Because now, her only two weaknesses, were her people and her baby.

--------

Beth walked into Lexa's room, walking over to the edge of the bed and sitting. She sighs, closing her eyes and taking a breath.

She was tired, and stressed, and all she wanted to do was sleep. And eat something. Beth took off her boots and laid her sword and knives down on the left side of the bed. She removes her jacket, placing it over the knives and sword before crawling back towards the pillows.

Only three things left on her mind as she fell asleep, Lincoln, their child and the fact that she hoped someone had changed or cleaned the blankets since the last time Clarke and Lexa were here.

THIS CHAPTER IS NOT EDITED! JUST A WARNING.

7073 words in total, not counting this authors note. Guys, I wasn't intending for this to be the longest chapter ever written in this book and they may get longer, idk yet. I am so sorry it's taken me almost 3 months to put up this chapter, you must all hate me and want to kill me and I truly understand. I'm hoping to at least finish season 4 before season 6 comes out but idk if I will or not, because I just have a lot going on right now. I'm in the middle of moving (yes I know, again) and we're gonna be like moving twice within the next three months because we were trying to just move to Tenessee and get a house, but then the person who was supposed to sell the house to my roomate, is having problems with it on their end. And we already sold this one we're in now and have to be out by the 18th and I'm rambling so, sorry. But yeah, life's been crazy. I'll try and update more often, I promise. Well, this authors note is incredibly long, so I'm gonna end it. I'm so tired, so I'm leaving. Anyways, please comment and let me know what you thought of this chapter. Thanks for reading. Bye.

-Kelly.
