18; Visionary

"Shit, shit," I pulled Brett up, placing his arm around my shoulder for support. "You're okay, you're okay." He groaned as I helped him to a secluded part under the bleachers. "You're such a damn idiot," I mumbled as the two of us gently dropped to the ground. He squeezed his eyes shut in pain. "Sorry, sorry, sorry," I mumbled, pulling my hands away from around his back, noticing the dark blood staining them. "Take your shirt off," I instructed, almost predicting the joke he would make about it.

Despite the pain he clearly seemed to be in, he still cracked a smile before saying, "I didn't expect to hear you say that this fast."

"Just do it, I need to see how badly you're hurt." Brett started to remove his shirt, letting out a grunt of pain when he lifted it over his head. Once it was done, he let out a breath of relief and I winced, noticing the really deep scratches running down his back. "Holy shit," I murmured, placing my hand on his shoulder as I assessed the damage.

"Is it bad?"

"No," I answered way too quickly. "Okay, yes. But you'll be fine, you'll heal."

He sucked in a deep breath, again as I traced my fingers down his back. He winced when my hand brushed against the deep, bloodied scratches and I quickly pulled my hand back. "That beast is one strong motherfucker."

"Tell me about it," I replied, instinctively touching my shoulder, where large rips in my lacrosse jersey had been torn, after the beast had scratched me too. I could feel blood sticking to the side of my face, but I wasn't hurting too badly. Truth be told, I came out a lot luckier than Brett and Liam, who were both really badly injured. Stiles and Hayden had come to Liam's rescue, leaving me to help Brett out. I had no idea where they'd gone. Everyone had made a run for it to the school, but after Brett and I had given up fighting it, the beast followed everyone inside. "I hope the others are okay."

Brett's eyes immediately filled with fear and I remembered that his sister was probably somewhere in that crowd. As far as I knew, Scott and Kira were still in there. I had no idea where Stiles and Hayden had taken Liam and I had no clue what happened to Malia, Mason and Corey - my bets were that most of them had headed into the school. "I have to go back in," Brett said through gritted teeth. "I have to save my sister."

"I can't let you do that, you're hurt," I said, placing my hand on his shoulder to keep him at bay.

"I don't care."

"I'll go then. I'm fine, I'll try and find everyone. You just stay here."

"Are you serious?" He asked, shaking his head in disbelief. "You're not going alone."

"I'm perfectly capable," I defended.

"I don't doubt that for a second but there's no way I'm letting you do that."

"Then we're gonna have to wait here whilst you heal. And trust the others to make it out alive." Brett sighed, closing his eyes shut and breathing in deeply. An idea suddenly sparked in my mind. There was no point running into the school blindly. I could at least try and figure out where everyone was and where the beast was, so that I could get people out. "Why don't I put this new power of mine to the test," I spoke up, pulling myself up into a standing position.

Brett's eyes seemed to light up with an idea. "It's emotions, right?"

"Yeah, I need to trigger an emotion. Really deeply this time, so that I can get a clear vision."

"Think of a memory," he blurted. "Anything that comes to mind where you can remember feeling so many things at the same time. Tap into that memory, Bec."

I closed my eyes shut. I could think of Allison's death, the time when I first transformed, the supermoon, Liam and Hayden. But none of them seemed right. They didn't feel like they would work. "I don't know, I can't-"

A loud roar sounded overhead in the school, actually shaking the ground beneath me. I met Brett's eyes and he nodded his head. "You can do this. I believe in you."

I nodded, closing my eyes shut once more. I can do this.

"Liam don't make this any harder than it already is."

"Why are you so mad?"

"Because I'm fed up of feeling heartbroken all the time! I'm fed up of being second best to Hayden all the damn time!"

"It's not my fault you don't trust me! I haven't done anything wrong!"

"Stop lying to me, Liam!"

"Okay, fine! We kissed."

"You were my first everything Liam. I loved you. No, I still love you. And I hate the fact that I do."

He reached for my arm, claws extended. "Are you really blaming all of this on me? When you're the one pushing me away!"

"Pushing you away? Since when have I been pushing you away" His grip on my arm tightened and it was starting to hurt. "Let go of me," I snapped.

He let out a growl, his eyes changing colour. His pulse was spiralling out of control. It was a mad rage. And I was the one in the firing line.

"Liam let go!" I screamed. "Liam!" I used all of my strength to tear his hand from my arm. As I stumbled backwards, clutching my wounded arm, he seemed to snap out of his infuriated rage.

"I'm so sorry," he stepped towards me but I backed away from him.

"Get out!"

"Well, fine. Maybe I don't want to put up with you and your shit anymore"

"Get out of my fucking room!" I opened the door and he stepped through it, only pausing in the doorway to face me. We stared at each other intently for a few moments.

"I will never stop loving you"

And I slammed the door in his face. I slammed the door to our relationship. I did it because I was so furious at what he'd done, so mad at myself for letting my guard down and loving him - consequently letting him hurt me like that. I was so upset to have even been hurt like that. I was so confused as to why I wasn't good enough for him, why Hayden was better. But I was still so incredibly in love with him. The pain was unbearable, unimaginable.

The sound of someone's voice finally pulled me out of the flashback. "Becca! Becca! Becca, please!" It was Brett calling my name. I wanted to reach out to him, to tell him I was okay. But I was sucked into a vision before I could even think of the words to say.

The Beast roared and Scott countered it with an equally as loud roar, his eyes pulsing red. My brother was flung harshly against the bookcase, letting out a groan as he slumped to the floor. A girl gasped, her hand over her mouth as she watched the scene unfold in terror. There were other students all hidden about in the upstairs part of the library, holding their breath and their friends; praying for survival. The beast dragged Scott, leaving a trail of blood along the floor from my brothers hand print. He was thrown down again harshly, another groan escaping his lips. The beast was edging closer and closer, ready to-

The vision cut out and I found myself on the ground, everything around me spinning. I closed my eyes, waiting for it all to stop. I could hear Brett still saying my name and shaking me. Eventually, I sucked in deep breath, sitting up properly. "Scott," I blurted. "Everyone's in the library. The beast is about to kill him. It's about to kill Scott!" I jumped up, starting to head out from behind the bleachers.

"Becca, no!" Brett grabbed my arm, twisting me back around.

"I have to go. I'm not watching him die again," Brett seemed to release his grip on me and I sprinted across the field as fast as I could, well aware of the fact that he was trying to catch up with me. I knew he wouldn't because he was still so injured, he'd have to stay back. He'd be safe.

I burst through the doors, my converse squeaking on the polished floors as I desperately ran up to the library. Just as I turned the corner, I smacked right into someone, almost making me lose my footing. "What the hell are you doing?" Liam hissed, looking around the empty halls with paranoia written all over his face.

"Saving my brothers ass, what about you?"

"Uh, yeah, saving Scott's ass too."

"Library's this way then, dumbass," I retorted, continuing to run to my destination. When we pushed open the library doors, Scott was helplessly pulling himself up from the stairs and the beast was moving towards him, its body folded over in a crouch. I glanced at Liam and we shared a nod. "Three, two, one, now!"

The beast moved into a standing position as the two of us ran and leaped into the air, both crashing into it. I slid along the floor, almost slamming into a bookcase. The beast was hardly phased by what we did, until gunshots rang out from behind me. The beast whipped around and I watched as Braeden fired her shotgun, each bullet hitting the beast - but it wasn't with enough force to knock it down. Malia growled at it as it fell against the stairs before eventually diving through the window, making glass shatter behind it, raining onto the staircase. Smoke billowed from Braeden's shotgun as she stood, still holding it in position in case the beast came back.

I pulled myself up before helping to haul my very injured brother up from the floor too. "Are you okay?" I asked, placing my hand on his shoulder as his arms slid around my back for support.

He nodded slowly as we all headed into the middle of the room, watching the moonlight sliver into the library. "You didn't seriously think you were going to have a chance against that thing, did you?" Braeden asked.

"No," Scott said breathlessly. "But I got it's scent." After a moment of exchanging glances, my brother shook his head and headed out of the library, me and Liam quickly following.

"Scott wait," I called out. "You're hurt."

He pushed open the door, panting. "You gotta slow down," Liam told him. My brother ignored him, jogging outside and into the parking lot. Liam sighed looking back at me before continuing to follow him.

The three of us ran through the gap between two cars. Scott started moving closer to each car, pressing his hand against a red one before finally moving onto the next. He paused, opening the trunk of the black, shiny car to reveal a pair of converse. He reached in, pulling it out and checking the soles of the shoe, which were covered in blood. And they were size ten - what we'd been looking for.

Scott glanced at me and Liam, still holding the shoe in his hand, before slamming the trunk down. Mason stood at a distance, watching the three of us in confusion. "Scott? What are you doing to my car?"

All of a sudden, everything seemed to freeze. I felt sick. I had the undeniable urge to just scream until I passed out. Scream until I was too weak to stand. I wanted to cry until I had no tears left to cry. I wanted to smash his car into smaller pieces than what my heart felt like it had been broken into. This couldn't be real. This couldn't be happening. It couldn't be him.

But it was him. It was Mason. My best friend, Mason. He was the Beast.

"It's you."

Mason shook his head, confusion on his face. "What?" His eyes moved between Liam and I. "What's he talking about?" I lowered my head, too in shock to even speak. I didn't want to be here right now. I wished we hadn't made the discovery. I wished all tonight's events hadn't happened. "Liam," Mason stepped forwards.

All of a sudden, Corey appeared after camouflaging against the car beside us. He placed his hands on Mason's shoulder and I realised what he was about to do. Before I could even form any words on my lips, Scott had already warned him.

"Corey, wait!" But it was too late. He'd disappeared with Mason. Scott lunged forwards. "Corey, wait!" He let out a groan of frustration, his hands on either car beside him as he frantically looked around. I moved forwards, beside him, turning my head to spot any sight of them.

But they were gone.

A/N

I'm sorry I haven't updated in like forever I was really ill last week and didn't get the chance.

I'm kinda loving Brett and Becca's friendship right now and there's been 0.1% progress between Becca and Liam so that's good too.

There's only a couple of chapters left before this story comes to a close. I'm still undecided on whether to do a book 3 or not so feedback would be much appreciated (:

Thank you for reading 💜
