"By order of the Sheriff, a county-wide curfew goes into effect tonight at sundown. All after-school activities are canceled until further notice. Students should go directly home at the end of the school day."

Scott and I slowed down, watching as two officer's with guns headed down the school corridors. Conversations started to stop and people spoke in hushed whispers, watching them walk blankly down the halls. "You don't think this is a bit much in terms of firepower for a high school?" I heard Stiles asking a deputy as Scott and I headed over to them.

"Your Dad's the one that issued us these things, and he wouldn't officially say why," the officer replied.

"Did he say anything unofficially?" Scott asked.

"No," the man answered. "But everyone's got a theory."

I narrowed my eyes at him. "What's yours?"

"I shouldn't be talking to you guys," he replied. "Don't you have class?"

"Come on, Strauss. What's your theory?" Stiles questioned.

Strauss looked to the side briefly before turning back to the three of us and lowering his voice. "Do you guys believe in the supernatural?"

I shared a look with Scott and Stiles before shaking my head. "Oh, boy."

After Strauss had left, I also said goodbye and started to head to my next class - until I heard someone shouting my name. "Becca!"

I slowed down, groaning internally when I realised it was Mason trying to get my attention. It wasn't that I didn't want to talk to Mason, I loved Mason. I just didn't want him asking me loads of questions. "Uh, hey, Mase," I gave him an awkward wave as he walked over, which I instantly regretted. "How are you?"

"I'm fine, how are you?"

"Well, aside from the constant paranoia, I'm good," I replied with a shrug.

He nodded, shifting on his feet. He opened his mouth to say something but hesitated briefly. It was like I knew what he was going to say because I squeezed my eyes shut, preparing for the question. "How are you, you know, after Liam?"

"I'm okay. Kind of. I mean, I'm not okay but I'm okay as I can be."

"I'm really sorry," he said.

"It's fine. It's not your fault I guess we just-" I cut off, sighing. "I don't know."

"Becca I'd still really like to be friends with you."

I smiled, "I thought we still were friends?"

"Yeah, I just- I wanted to-"

"It's okay, Mase," I chuckled. "I get it."

He let out a breath and nodded. "So, um, I hear you've been hanging out with Brett."

Resisting the urge to roll my eyes, I tilted my head to the side, a teasing grin on my lips. "Jealous?"

Mason stuttered before shaking his head and finally saying, "No. I actually like someone else."

I almost squealed, excitement bubbling up inside me. It was about time Mason got some love. "Who is it? What's his name? Tell me everything!"

Mason looked down at the floor, a happy smile on his face. "Well, his name's Corey."

My excitement faded. "The Chimera Corey? Oh, Mason-"

"He's a really good guy, Becca," he defended.

"Oh, I'm sure he is," I scoffed. "He's perfect aside from the fact he's working with a psychopath that tried to kill both Scott and I."

A hurt expression crossed Mason's face and I immediately felt bad. "Corey's one of the good guys."

I didn't want to hurt my friends feelings but I also didn't want him to be hurt by anyone else. It was difficult to know what to say and luckily the bell rang. "Just be careful, Mason, okay? I'll see you around. It was nice to catch up."

"Yeah," he nodded. "You too, Bex."

After my talk with Chris yesterday, he had encouraged me to talk to my brother about what was going on. Of course, I wouldn't do that. So when he suggested talking to Stiles, which I was previously against, I decided it wasn't actually such a bad idea. Especially, since him and Scott aren't talking as much as they used to - which reduces the risk of him actually telling Scott. Stiles and I sometimes had more of a deeper understanding with one another anyway. There were some things that Scott was great to talk to about, but other things which weren't so good. I would often find myself talking more to Stiles about my werewolf powers than Scott, simply because Scott was horrific about giving advice on that. And when my brother first got bitten, Stiles was the one who helped him through it and I guess that's what I wanted too. Most of all, I just really needed to do some research about my new talents and Stiles was exceptionally good at that.

"Skipping school again princess?"

I groaned, pausing to turn around and face Brett. I folded my arms over my chest, leaning all of my weight onto one foot. "Stalking again, wolf boy?"

He let out an amused chuckle, shifting his rucksack more comfortably on his shoulder. "So, where are you going?"

"That's none of your business."

"Let me walk you to wherever you're going," he offered.

"I'm perfectly capable of walking alone."

Brett huffed in annoyance, crossing his arms over his chest. "You're so stubborn, you know that."

"Thank you," I smiled sarcastically before checking the time on my watch. I was now running late to meet Stiles. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have somewhere to be," I turned back away from him before pausing, facing him once more. "Oh, and please stop following me around. It's getting creepy."

"No promises," he said with a grin, causing me to shake my head and start heading over to Stiles' house. I'd barely knocked on the door when it was flung open.

"You're late."

"Dude chill it's only five minutes."

He rolled his eyes. "Whatever. What did you want to talk about? Because I have news of my own."

"You do? Well, you go first. Mine can wait."

"Okay, well I was thinking about visiting Lydia, which was why I originally called you to ask if you'd come with me. And then I had a thought. Maybe whilst we're there, we can do some looking around just to familiarise ourselves with the place. So when we break her out, it will be a lot easier. Plus, you never know, we might find something useful. You up for it?"

"Uh, sure," I said, failing to keep the uncertainty out of my voice. I wanted to see Lydia but I just hated that place so much.

"Great. Let's go," then he paused. "Oh yeah, you had something you needed to tell me."

I opened my mouth but then shook my head. "Don't worry, it's not important. Let's go."

I sat down on a chair next to Stiles, looking down at Lydia with a sigh. Her face was blank and despondent, yet she still managed to look gorgeous. I hated seeing her in this state, I just wanted Lydia Martin back. Even when Stiles placed his hand over hers, she didn't respond to his touch.

"Your teachers, uh, gave us some of the stuff you guys have been working on," Stiles said. "They wanted us to hold on to it for you. I saw something about the, uh, Riemann Hypothesis. Um, things like, nontrivial zeros, zeta functions and a lot of other stuff that goes totally over my head," he let out a silent laugh. I smiled at him. "Maybe you can wake up and explain it to me?" He sighed, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Oh, come on, Lydia. You have to come back to us. There's no way we're getting through this without you. Lydia, you have to wake up."

"I think that's enough," Ms Martin spoke up, causing me to roll my eyes.

"We've barely been here ten min-"

"Stiles. Rebecca," she said sternly, cutting me off.

Stiles huffed and let go of Lydia's delicate hands. Then he paused, pulling back some of her strawberry blonde hair. "Wait a second, what is this? What are they doing?"

"All right, you need to go," Ms Martin started walking over to the two of us. I leaned over, looking at what Stiles was pointing at with a frown.

"They shaved her head," I stated.

"Look at it," Stiles said, now standing up. "Did you- did you know about this? What are they gonna do? Drill a hole into her head?"

"Are you crazy?" Ms Martin breathed out, pushing past him and stroking Lydia's hair down again. "It's for ECT. Electroconvulsive therapy. They shave small portions of the scalp. It's done under general anaesthesia and it's perfectly safe," she explained. "Look at her. She's my daughter. You don't think I'm trying everything I can to bring her out of this?"

"Yeah, and she's our best friend," I countered, narrowing my eyes at the clueless woman.

Stiles shook his head. "That's not ECT."

"Is everything all right in here?" A staff member with short curly hair headed in.

"It's fine," Ms Martin replied quickly. "Our guests are just leaving. Stiles, Rebecca, go. Or you're not coming back. Either of you."

I shook my head at Lydia's mom before taking Stiles' arm and leading him out of the room. "What a bitch." Stiles snorted in agreement as we started to head down the corridor. "You know, this place is really heavily guarded," I said quietly as two men walked towards us. The fact that we were going to have to get back in to rescue Lydia was seeming more and more impossible.

"I know," Stiles mumbled in reply. As we passed the two staff, Stiles accidentally bumped shoulders with one of them. "Sorry," he uttered lamely. The two of us continued walking, pausing for the guard to let us out. "Thanks."

Once we were out of the god awful building, Stiles grinned at me. I frowned. "What?"

He held up a key card proudly and I felt my lips pulling into a grin. "You are a genius," I gushed, patting him on the shoulder.

"I know." He shoved the keycard in his pocket and pulled out his phone, eyebrows drawing together as he read a text. "Scott wants us back at yours. He's got a plan."

The two of us climbed into the jeep and rode in silence back to mine. When we headed inside, Scott, Liam, Malia and Kira were all stood around a table. I felt my body stiffen upon seeing Liam but I pushed it away and continued on like I hadn't seen him. It was inevitable that we were going to be around each other a lot. I just had to get used to it. As Stiles and I joined the others around the table, Liam placed a black book down. A label was printed over it reading 'Eichen Security Log.' We now had blueprints, keys, a security log and photographs to help make Lydia's escape much easier.

My brother looked down at the table before meeting Stiles' eyes. "Now we get Lydia."
