13; Codominance

"Scott, let me come with you," I said, following him as he headed into his bathroom to gather things. His bag was placed in the middle of his bed, clothes all packed into it.

"It's too dangerous," he replied, coming back into the bedroom and dumping his toiletries into the bag.

"Kira's my friend too," I argued. "Besides, I thought we'd stopped with all the 'it's too dangerous' bullshit."

He sighed. "I'm sorry, Becca. You're gonna have to stay here. I'll be back soon, I promise," he grabbed his bag and kissed my cheek before heading out of the door.

I huffed and followed him down the stairs. "Scott-" I started but I cut off when I caught the scent of a presence in the house. My brother paused at the bottom of the stairs and I almost crashed into him.

"They're alive," was all Liam said. My whole body tensed as anger burned inside me. Liam had tried to kill both Scott and I which was bad enough itself. But he also had the decency to turn up to our house with no apology whatsoever. "I mean the chimera's. Not all of them, some of them."

Scott nodded. "I know."

"You do?"

"Yeah," Scott said. "I'm sorry, I can't talk right now, Liam."

Liam stammered slightly before saying, "It was Theo. He's the one who brought them back, and now they're with him. Like they're his pack."

"I know," Scott said, before starting to head past his younger beta. I stayed where I was and Liam locked eyes with me for a moment before awkwardly turning away, eyes drifting over to Scott once more.

"Hayden's one of them."

My mouth fell open. He was here about Hayden. Once again, his actions and his choices were fuelled by Hayden. His irrationality all came from that girl. Leaving me for her hurt like hell, but this was almost worse. Did he ever care this much about me?

"She's okay?" Scott asked in shock, turning around to face Liam.

"She's alive," Liam confirmed.

I scoffed. "That's a shame."

Liam ignored my statement. "I'm not sure she's totally okay, but she's definitely alive."

"Right," Scott said, glancing up at me for a moment. I shook my head, looking up at the ceiling.

"Where are you guys going?" Liam asked.

"To get Kira," My brother answered. "Her dad told us that her mom took her out to New Mexico, to this place called Shiprock. They're trying to figure out a way to help her, but it's dangerous. So we're gonna go find her and bring her back."

"I'll come with you," Liam immediately offered.

"Nah," Scott shook his head. "You can't." He turned and started heading towards the door again.

"Let me help," Liam said. "Let me do something. Just tell me what I can do."

Scott paused, speaking with a harshness in his voice. "Don't do anything," he glanced past Liam at me, eyes softening. "See you later, Bex."

I nodded, not even being able to form any words. Liam stared after my brother for a moment before turning around and acknowledging me properly, for what felt like the first time since he'd been here. "Bec-"

"Don't call me that," I snapped, shaking my head in disbelief. "I can't believe you had the nerve to come over here to talk about your damn girlfriend and not even utter an apology to me or Scott. Am I really not even worth an apology?"

"N-no. I didn't- I don't know," he let out a long breath. "I'm sorry."

"You know what, sorry just doesn't cut it anymore, Liam."

He bit his lip, nodding and looking down at the floor. I thought he'd given up and decided to leave but then he looked up at me again. "How can I make it up to you?"

Truthfully, I didn't ever see a way of me truly forgiving Liam. I was hurt about Hayden and I would always hold a grudge against him about it, but it was something I could get over in time. The supermoon night, I understood his rage. The look in his eyes, it's one both Scott and I have had from time to time. It didn't excuse what he did or his motives but I guess I could overcome it in time. Still, the thought would always be there in the back of my mind. There was no way Liam could ever make it up to me. We were too far gone this time. "Liam," I swallowed thickly, hesitating slightly. Letting him go, letting someone I loved go, it hurt so much. It was like I could even feel my heart shattering like glass right then and there. But to save myself any more pain, I had to do it. "You can make it up to me by staying away."

"Rebecca-" he started.

I cut him off. "No, Liam. I can't do this. I can't do us. Please just-" A sob hitched in my throat and I paused. When I spoke again, my voice was barely above a whisper. "Just stay away from me."

Liam's bright blue eyes suddenly became glassy with tears and he nodded solemnly. "Okay," he said quietly. "If that's what you want."

I didn't protest as he turned and walked out of the door. Tears filled my eyes and I squeezed them shut. Once he was gone, I let the small sobs escape my lips. I placed my hand on the wall for support, feeling like my heart was going to burst. I hated Liam. I hated him so much for doing this to me. But mostly, I hated myself for falling in love. I hated myself for letting my guard down. After Scott lost Allison, I swore I'd never let myself fall in love. And I did. I let myself down.

At the thought of Allison, hurt tears started to spill down my cheeks. I wanted nothing more than to talk to her, confide in her. I felt like I didn't have anyone, right now. Kira was missing, Scott and Stiles had gone to find her. Lydia had been admitted to eichen. Malia was distant from all of us, trying to find her mother. Mom was constantly working. Mason's loyalty seemed to lie with Liam. Even if I hadn't pushed everyone away, they all had their own problems to sort out. I reached into my jeans pocket and pulled my phone out, scrolling through my contacts. My finger rested on Brett's name and as tempted as I was to just click the call button, I wouldn't. I didn't want Brett's help, I didn't need Brett's help.

I let out a frustrated groan, slamming my phone down on the table. There was a sudden knock at the door and I rolled my eyes, presuming it was Scott who probably forgot something. I quickly wiped underneath my eyes and headed over to the front door. When I opened it, about to utter a sarcastic comment, I was surprised to see Chris Argent standing there.

"Is this a good time?"

I offered a weak smile. "Is it ever a good time? Come in." I moved aside as Chris stepped inside the house, glancing around.

"Want anything to drink?" I offered.

"Nah, I'm good thanks. I can't stay too long."

I nodded, pulling out one of the dining table chairs and sitting down. Chris copied my action, hands resting on the table. "So, how's France been?" I asked.

"Good. Busy, but good," he replied with a smile. "How have you been?"

I sighed, drumming my fingers on the table. "Okay, I guess."

"Okay? You seem pretty upset to me. Did something happen between you and Liam? I saw him leaving earlier." His eyes were full of concern and I really wanted to confide in him but I just couldn't. "Rebecca, I'd really like you to talk to me. You can tell me anything."

I shrugged. "It doesn't matter."

"I understand if you don't want to talk to me, as long as there's someone else you can reach out to. Don't bottle it all up, it never does any good. In fact, it's dangerous for you. Come the full moon, you'll find it really difficult to stay in control with all those built up emotions running wild," he said, which caused me to look up and meet his eyes. He raised a good point there. Control was something I still struggled with sometimes. If I didn't speak out about my emotions, I was going to end up like Liam did. I couldn't be like that.

"I don't know where to start," I admitted.

"From the beginning," he smiled gently. "Tell me everything."

I nodded, exhaling as I thought back to where this all stemmed from. "I guess it all started back when I first turned. I'd been struggling to find an anchor. Honestly, I don't think I've ever really found one but there was this period where suddenly, things became easier. And then everything went to shit. Theo came and turned the whole pack upside down. Liam left me for Hayden and then kindly tried to kill Scott and I. Now Scott and Stiles are arguing and I feel so caught in the middle of it because I love them both - they're both my brothers. I'm struggling to control myself on the full moon again and to top it all off, I've got this weird thing going on with me. I keep getting visions of future things happening. It's only happened a couple of times and sometimes they're not very clear. But I got one on the night of the supermoon and it was just like watching the scene unfold right in front of me. I have no idea what the hell is going on and I just don't know what to do anymore," Once I'd finished, I let out a relieved breath. It was like a whole weight had been lifted off my chest and I felt like I could finally breathe again.

"Wow," was all Chris managed to say at first. "I'm sorry to hear about you and Liam. I think he'll look back on this and regret it. As for Scott and Stiles, don't worry too much about it. They're both mature enough not to put any pressure on you to pick a side or anything and they'll likely sort it out themselves."

"I hope you're right," I mumbled.

Chris smiled, hesitating slight before speaking again. "These visions, can you describe what happens when you get them?"

"Um, yeah. I mean, it's been different every time. The first time it happened, I got really dizzy and there were these voices ringing in my head. The second time it happened it was so painful that I screamed, but it wasn't human - and it wasn't like Lydia's banshee scream. I screamed the third time as well and my eyes apparently started glowing really bright green. But then the fourth time it was like I'd just tuned out of life completely and when I came round, I was really disoriented," I explained.

"How were you feeling each time it happened?"

"The first time was at the club Sinema and I felt alright. I mean, we'd just had a run in with Hayden so I was probably a little irritated but besides that and a bit of anxiety about everything, I was okay. The second time was on purpose and it was Brett trying to get a reaction out of me. I was angry, really angry. The third time I was with Lydia and I was really upset over Liam. Then the fourth  time was the supermoon so I was feeling just about every emotion. But right before it happened, I was mostly panicking about trying to find Liam and Scott. Do you think it's something to do with my emotions? Liam suggested it a while back but-" I cut off and sighed. "I don't know."

Chris leaned forwards slightly. "Have you ever heard of precognition?"

"Yeah, it's um-" I bit my lip, trying to remind myself of it. "It's where you see into the future, right?"

"That's right. There's something called empathic precognition. It's a variation of empathy and precognition. It's basically using emotions to foretell future events. You said it's always been when your emotions are heightened - and naturally they usually are as a werewolf anyway. The strength of your emotion usually corresponds to how evident your vision of the future will become, which is probably why the one on the night of the supermoon was so clear. It's probably a power you've had since you were born but it was only coaxed out after you were bitten. It might be why your werewolf eyes are green too."

I frowned. "So like, I can see the future? But only when I'm in a really emotional state?"

"I'm not one hundred percent certain, you may just be a precognition," he admitted. "It's just what you explained, it seems to be very linked to your emotions. Which, in some ways, gives you a lot of limitations for the power. However, as a werewolf it also makes it very dangerous. Especially to control. If you're constantly in a highly emotional state of mind then visions might occur frequently."

"How do I control it?"

Chris let out a long breath, leaning back in his chair. "I'm not entirely sure on that one, Bex. Maybe you need to use your anchor."

"I don't know what my anchor is," I reminded.

"That's something you need to figure out for yourself."

I shook my head. "I've tried. I just can't find anything that keeps me grounded anymore."

"Then be your own anchor."

A/N

I don't even know what to say I feel like so much happened this chapter lmao.

Rebecca finally opened up to someone and I'm actually really glad it was Chris. I think that they've shared a really strong bond since Allison's death and I wish I'd explored it more in Fearless when I had the chance. But I think Chris is going to be a great help for Becca discovering her new talents . On the subject of that, the penny finally dropped and Becca found something out about her powers! Honestly, I'm super excited to explore this. I always wanted to make her a werewolf but I also wanted to make her a little different. The fact that she's a werewolf also makes her powers very difficult to control and I can't wait to write about that and her figuring out her true anchor. I think she's going to learn a lot about herself from it too which is why it's important to let her figure herself out independently.

Liam and Becca finally speaking after the supermoon night is definitely a big turning point for her. Trying to get over her first love is a big struggle she's going to face on top of this all. Especially since it was always the two of them from the beginning and now she essentially feels like she's all alone. She's been so strong for so long and I think it's definitely important to start showing a more vulnerable side to her now. And I'm really enjoying showing this different side to her character (as you can probably tell because I just wrote a way too long a/n about it)

Ah and good news is that I have four more days of hell (aka school) before two weeks off for Easter holidays. So that (hopefully) means lots more frequent updates.

Shout out to those of you who actually read all of this criez why am I like this
