Chapter Fifty
Watching Draco stammer and stutter along his words was certainly a sight for Clara, she had witnessed two sides of the boy since her time at Hogwarts. When she had first witnessed him, he was confident, never caring what he said, waiting for people to hang on his every word. But since his return to Hogwarts, the Draco she saw sitting before her had lost a great deal of confidence and looked so unsure of what he was about to say.
She reached out a hand and placed it over his reassuringly to let him know that he didn't have to rush, she wanted him to take his time so that he said what he truly wanted to.
Draco stared at the hand that rested over his, thankful that after all the years of feeling quite cold on the inside that he could feel the warmth of Clara's hand over his skin.
"It's okay...whatever it is that you want to tell me, Draco." she informed him. "I won't get mad or anything."
At that point, Draco could hardly bring himself to breathe properly let alone speak. But Clara sat patiently waiting beside him.
The fingers on her other hand tapped lightly against her leg, distracting Draco further as he tried to muster up the courage to say what he wanted to say.
He reached out his own hand that wasn't under hers and placed it over her moving hand. She immediately stopped tapping and looked up at him.
"I...If our parents don't agree to us dating...what happens?" Draco asked her. "What happens to us? Do we keep meeting up over and over at all these different places? I don't want that. I certainly don't want to tiptoe around my parents and you shouldn't have to around yours. But that's what is going to happen if they don't approve. Anytime one of us will want to see one another we're going to have to go through a fuss and it's just going to be incredibly stressful. I don't want to deal with anymore stress. I don't think I can."
Clara was unsure of what Draco was getting at, she didn't want to believe that he was breaking up with her, but it was definitely a possibility in her mind by the way he was acting.
"I don't want this to end." Draco continued. "Everyday when I wake up, I know where I can find you. I know that I'm going to see you and it isn't a problem. I don't want to lose that once we leave here. I want to know that I'll be able to see you whenever I want. That you can see me whenever you want..that..we...that...we..."
His voice trailed off leaving them in silence but by that point Clara was just ready to tell the man to spit it out already.
She had patience but not that much patience.
"Draco, please I'm not a Seer, you're going to have to tell me what you want.Just say it. Please." she sighed.
He muttered something and then quickly looked away.
"Okay, that was better but you actually have to say it loud enough for me to hear." Clara said jokingly.
Draco looked over at her, his blue eyes slightly watery and worried, as he opened his mouth to speak.
"I want you to move in with me."
Abby searched the corridors, the classrooms and the halls of the castle but for the life of her could not find Clara and Draco. Her next step was to search the castle grounds in hopes of finding the two. She skipped along until she reached the courtyard, but didn't find either one of the seventh years there either.
"Are you guys playing hide and go seek...or..." She scratched the top of her head before continuing her search.
"Come on you two, where are you guys? I get my Transfiguration paper back, pass with flying colors and you two are absolutely nowhere for me to come brag and show it off." she huffed.
Abby thought hard of Clara's schedule trying to figure out what class Clara would have been in and finally after seven minutes of debate, Abby thought of Herbology.
"To the greenhouses!"
Draco and Clara were not in the greenhouses as she expected, but they weren't far away from them either as she saw the couple sitting next to one another.
She was all fully prepared to sneak up on them and surprise them with her paper, but Abby wasn't prepared for the surprise that awaited her as she closed on in.
"I want you to move in with me." Draco told Clara quietly.
Clara had entered a silent shock but Abby was never one for silence.
"WHAT?!"
