Chapter 9
The enemy base was in sight. I slung out my sniper rifle and looked down the scope.
"This seems too easy...." I said.
I walked up to the side of the hill and set up my nest, and waited until I saw a good number of men outside.
"Theta 2-1, can you distract the enemy soldiers long enough to get me inside that base?" I asked over the radio.
"Yes sir. We have enough firepower to push into the base now that we have air support. Just say the word for us to move in after the distraction."
"Lord, let me die a good death today." I said.
The enemy base was preoccupied with Thetas attack. I snuck in like a ninja in the night. The first two were easy prey and I knocked them out. The next were a bit harder, until finally I came upon the commander. I was out of options and ammo, and took him on with my bare fists.
"Come on! I'm ready, give me a fair fight!" I yelled.
He drew his sword, and cut me up the middle. I fell over on my back, slowly breathing. A missile flew across the sky into our forces.
It can't end this way...
"So you have lost heart finally, infidel? I'm glad I had the chance to let you watch everything you built fall apart and watch you squirm and cry as your friends die. I have to run now, so goodbye. I hope you suffer." the commander walked away and the debris cloud enveloped me.
This is not how it is supposed to end...
This isn't how it's going to end...
I blacked out, and a world of light awaited me.
