I awoke to an ocean of white.

"Where am I? What's going on? Let me out of here!" I yelled.

Sarah walked into the room.

"Oh, good, you're awake. It's been a good week since you've been out. How are you feeling?"

"Like a million bucks," I mumbled sarcastically as I struggled to get out of bed.

"Whoa, whoa easy now... You don't want to hurt yourself. Here. I'll help you." Sarah said as she helped me out of bed. Her soft hands were one of the best feelings in the world, not to mention that you could stare into her eyes forever.

"Where's my uniform?" I asked.

"It was shredded. Brass is sending down a new one along with a new CO- Captain Jensen Anderson." Sarah said.

"I know him. He led a platoon that singlehandedly stopped the invasion of Bethsaida." I said.

"Well, our orders are to link up with Delta Company in Damascus, then spearhead a counterattack into the Midinan capital Doscallabad."

"Doscallabad? Why would brass want us to keel over and die?" I asked.

"Nathan, to them We're expendable." that word brought a grimace to my face.

"Sarah, don't you think that God doesn't think that way about us? He created us and loves us. Why would you use expendable? You know people care about you." I said.

"People? Yeah right. I can't count how many people actually do." she said.

I walked over to her and looked her in her blue eyes.

"You matter to me. You mean the world to me. I couldn't have just left you to die on that beach. I couldn't let you go through boot camp alone. Jesus loves you. And, somehow, He put a love in my heart for you. I love you, Sarah, I really do." I walked over and sat in a chair in the corner with my head bowed and my prayers open. She walked up behind me as I finished up.

"You know, Nathan, before all of this, I barely knew you. I thought you were cute and that was it. But now, you walked through the fire of Hell to rescue me. Not only have you done what true Love would have done, you have won my heart with your actions. There is not a more Godly and perseverant man here than the one standing in front of me. I love you, Nathan Rollins, with all my heart."

I got up with tears in my eyes, and she reached up and softly caressed my lips.

"I've wanted to do that while watching you for the past three days. I missed you, and you took bullets for me. Thank you." she said

There was a knock at the door.

"Kids, I am Captain Anderson. I won't lie, what you are about to see these next three days are going to be Hell on Earth. Hold fast to your faith, boys and girls, we're going to real war."
