From that moment on, I knew the only way I would survive is having complete and utter trust in Jesus.

Things were beginning to start off rough.

"Look! They're peppering us with bullets!" Sarah yelled.

"Men, listen to me! We might not make it out of this one alive, but be ready. If you haven't repented yet, do it before we get out. If I don't see your faces today again, I'll see you in heaven."

Everyone prayed. You could feel the Holy Spirit welling up deep within us.

"Everyone, move out! Air support is coming, and the tank division is dealing with those pillboxes! Don't lose heart. Go, go, go!"

The surface of the water was peppered with bullets, and I heard a thunk next to me.

It was Sarah.

Sarah, the girl who's been with me through all of this, was there next to me in the water on her back.

She was still breathing.

I picked her up. "Sarah, don't you give up on me. Don't you do it. I got you. No matter how many bullets hit me I won't give up on you."

I felt things of fire shoot through my hand and leg, but I didn't drop her. I watched as the tanks demolished the pillboxes one by one.

"Theta 2-1, this is Kestrel 3-2. Helix Squadron is clearing the skies as we speak, and it is safe to move onto Rally Point Alpha."

"Roger that, Kestrel 3-2, we're moving up."

Jesus, I pray over Sarah and that You would let her life keep going. Dont let her heart give out. I trust You, Jesus.

"Medic!" I yelled, and one ran up.
"Fix her up and get her to a safety point. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."

Todd ran over to me all bloodied up.

"All of our men are accounted for. Some were wounded badly, and we have enough to take the town. You alright?" He asked.

"Yes, I just have a clean exit through my hand and a graze on my leg. But I trust in Jesus and I'm not afraid. Thank God, you're okay man." I said.
"Theta Two, listen up! It's a straight shot up the hill to the town. Our boys are surrounded and are holding the line, but they won't last long! We've got to move! Theta 2-2, take right flank! Shoot on sight. Theta 2-3, flank left and hit them from behind. 2-1, we'll be hitting them head on. Snipers, get in position once we reach the field. Move out!"

"By grace, we live and by faith are saved! We will never quit and never tire!" the Theta company shouted altogether.

As I advanced up the center I saw the fields of hell, and we were surrounded by burning things.

"Kind of reminds you of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, huh?" Todd said.

"Yeah, but instead of Jesus it's Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We got this." I said in confidence.

The enemy army surrounded the town, and none of them anticipated our advance.

"Fire at them and don't stop until they surrender or stop moving!" I commanded.

The air support mopped up what was left of the Confederacy's Air Force and began to strafe our enemies.

A couple minutes later only 35 people remained, and were captured and returned to base.

Lt. Colonel Townsend met me at the ruined city hall building.

"Well, Sargent, I'm promoting you to Lieutenant. Wear your badge with honor. I'm proud of-"

A bullet pierced his stomach and he fell to the ground.

"Sniper! Get him!"

But it was already too late. Lt. Colonel Townsend was gone.
