Irene awoke the following morning to her husbands handsome face right in front of her, his hands wrapped securely around her, as she snuggled into his chest for warmth. He moved slightly to accommodate her form, letting out a contented sigh as her hand moved to move his hair away from his eyes. Her hands trailed down to his chest, resting on his heart as her thoughts wandered back to the previous night. Everything had been perfect. Something that seemed hard to come by with them, yet the vulnerability that he showcased to her made her finally understand her husband better. She now finally understood why he was the way he was, and at the end of the day her mind now realised that his heart was just as broken as hers, he just hid his scars better then she ever did. She admired his strength and understood the guilt that tormented him over the years. It was the same burden she carried when her mother passed on. The same heart ache but differing in reason. Her eyes continued to watch him, the peace apparent on his features. She seemed fulfilled with his apology this time. As though the words were no longer empty. The tears he shed for her pain; for being responsible for administrating that pain had brought her to the realisation that he was sincerely trying to make things better between them. Her hand trailed back up to cup his cheek, her eyes widening as he leaned into her touch. She attempted to withdraw her hand, his own shooting up to hold hers to his face, his hazel eyes opening into hers. "Hey..." she whispered suppressing the blush that wanted to grace her cheeks. She smiled. "Good morning wifey." He mumbled, moving himself closer to her and burying his face in her neck. She chuckled slightly. Her arms going around to his in attempts to move them. "Come on Jack I need to go." "Hmmmmm stay." He whispered against her skin. "Come on Jack, I need to get to work I'm late." He remained unmoving. "Don't make me change your name to captain clingy." He moaned out loosening his arms slightly for her to move. His eyes closing as he hugged the pillow now missing his wife's warmth. Irene moved quickly untying her hair and raking her hands through it before stealing one of his hoodies and leaving the room. Jackson sighed rubbing his face before moving in a more comfortable position. He heard the door reopen, the side of the bed dipping as a kiss was planted to his forehead. His eyes opened lazily into Irene's who smiled at him. Jackson smiled up at her moving up to crash his lips against hers. She shoved his chest causing him to fall back into the duvet. He pouted, hearing her ethereal laugh, leaving for real this time.
She reached the medical cube with a big smile on her face. Wendy and Joy smiling at each other as Irene started her day off, going from patient to patient in systematic way. The smile never fading from her features. Once she had completed the first half of her shift, she regrouped with the girls who smiled at her with a knowing look. "Someone's been busy." Wendy hinted as Irene blushed slightly, Joy nudging her playfully as they asked for details about what had been happening. Irene begun narrating to them exactly what had conspired over the two days the girls squealing as Irene looked down smiling to the floor, the teasing making her smile despite her desperate attempts not too. Irene shook her head. "Get back to work." She ordered watching as they continued to tease her as she made a quick escape to work on an incoming patient from the village.
Hours later Irene has decided to call a group meeting, their squad meeting in a conference room as they reorganised their routers and timetables. Irene worked on redistributing other jobs to be done with in the medical cube not realising that Jackson was now present in the room, leaning against the door watching his wife with a proud smile as she commanded the room around. She stood up handing a few things out before dismissing the group and collecting some other stuff. Wendy pushed her with her shoulder in order to gain her attention Irene turning to where Wendy has signalled, her eyes meeting Jackson's. She smiled at him, as Wendy left with a teasing smile directed to her friend. Irene rolled her eyes as Jackson bowed to her colleagues who left, before walking further in and helping her to collect what remained on the table. He handed her the stuff, their hands colliding as they smiled at each other shyly. "You seem busy." He started watching as she organised what he handed to her. "Yeah. I thought it would be wise to call a meeting to see what's working and what isn't working when it comes to the way that we are doing things." He nodded. "Are you free now?" She sighed, shaking her head. "I wish I was, but I have a night shift today so no." He nodded. "Okay that fine, but here eat this." He said handing her a box. She took it with a smile and small thanks before reaching up to kiss his cheek. He smiled softly as moved of her tip toes back to the floor, their height difference exceptionally cute. He smiled as his walkie-talkie went off. "Boss we need you." Jackson sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'll be there in five." He turned back to Irene. "I'll see you later." She nodded as he turned to leave, Irene left back to her isolation as she continued to work on the paper work that she had with her.
Jackson walked up to his team, his face set with a deadly look, "What's up?" He questioned. "Jin's on the move. He met up with Ex General Young..." "you don't think they are in on this together." Bambam sighed. "Honestly jack i think it's worse than what we had originally anticipated." Yugyeom stood up. "He's brought all the necessary components to make a bomb, big enough to wipe out a complete district. In addition to that his finances are peaking, he seems to buying more black market weapons some unlike anything I've ever seen. Also, he's being paid by a higher earning client that we suspect is the ex general." Mark sighed. "Jack this doesn't look good." He nodded, "I know. Do we have anything else?" Youngjae stood up. "He's been spotted with this guy. I've tried running a facial recognition but it came back negative. We don't have anything on this guy at all, I contacted local police who are looking into it as we speak and they have pushed it up to the Korean database to get a hit. Hopefully we will find something." Jinyoung looked towards Jackson. "Have you told irene about what happened the other night?" He shook his head. "I don't want her to worry. Jin hasn't seen her face. Nor is he aware that she's here, I don't want to scare her unnecessarily." "Maybe telling her is good thing though Jackson at least she can prepare herself in case she sees him." Said Mark. He sighed deeply. "I know, I just want to keep her protected from this as much as I possibly can." Jinyoung held his shoulder. "Protect her by warning her." Jackson knew they were right, he needed to have this conversation with her as soon as he could. It wasn't something he should think of delaying but he was becoming selfish in her love. Just when things had started to go right it seemed as though it was seemingly about to collapse with the presence of Jin looming around. He looked to the boys who offered him pained smiles. "We will protect her Jack." He nodded, his head falling into his hands as their station went of with orders, their eyes widening as they left the meeting room heading straight for the medical cube all geared up.
When they reached the medical cube the doctors bar Irene started to panic at the way the soldiers rushed in. Irene turned walking up to Jackson her features reflecting the seriousness in his. "What's going on?" "We have a special patient coming in." "Who?" "Prince of the Arabs." The doctors around them gasped as Irene nodded taking care of the situation with ease and working on delegating work to the doctors on hand. Irene sighed, pausing for a moment as she looked towards Jackson who was standing tense in his stance, she looked to the side, standing with the other doctors and the soldiers as they waited patiently for the arrival of their casualty. When they arrived everyone stood on edge, Irene walking forward. "Here's the medical history and here's the prince." Irene was passed a folder as two nurses wheeled the prince further in. Irene looked up. "It's blacked out what the hell am I supposed to do with this." The guard remained silent as her senior took it from her flicking through it. Irene turned "so fucking helpful." She murmured. As she chucked the file back at them. "You might as well have not handed me anything." Jackson tensed at his wife's anger, his arm shooting out to her forearm. "Hey Babygirl chill." She shrugged of his arm. "You don't understand, I can't save him if I don't have a clear medical history." She sighed turning back her and her senior brainstorming possible scenarios and situations, contradicting each other as Irene let out a frustrated sigh. She drew a deep breath calming herself and working backwards, her Wendy, Suelgi and their senior going back forth between each other until they reached a justified conclusion. She signalled them to start wheeling the prince to the surgery room, guns pointing in their direction as they tried. Jackson stood in front of Irene blocking their target with his own body, his eyes stern, his gun pointing at them, the other soldiers following suit as they surrounded the medical team in a wall like formation. Irene's voice carrying through. "We need to operate. It's more serious then we had originally thought. If I don't operate in the next hour he could die." Jackson looked at her, her eyes only locking onto the main bodyguards who sent her a deadly look. "Fine but if he dies you will be held accountable for it." Irene nodded. "That's fine." She said, turning away to dish out orders, getting ready for the surgery they were about to commence. Irene heard a click of a gun. "Just to put out there doctor, by holding you accountable we will shoot you on sight if something happens." Jackson tensed, Irene turning to look the man dead in the eye. "You have my word that is something goes wrong you can do your duty to your country. No one will fight you." He nodded at her as Irene turned around ignoring the look of disbelief and anger swirling in Jackson's eyes.
Without any further delay they started the surgery, Irene, Wendy and Suelgi keeping a calm pace of action as they worked, the surgery going on for over six hours. They faced a complication but through their quick thinking they managed to stabilise him and ensure that his vitals remained consist. Another hour in and they had successfully completed the surgery, Irene closing up as they administrated some morphine to knock him out and ease the pain until his body had caught up with the surgery. Two nurses wheeled him out, Irene taking of her mask and addressing the bodyguards. "The surgery was a success however the next twenty four hours are always crucial, his vitals are well at the moment so he will be kept under close observations, it looks good..." she delivered watching as their eyes turned to the prince. "He has to wake up Doctor, I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet." Irene sighed nodding slightly as she turned to her desk pushing a gun of her paperwork and sending a dirty look to one of the guards. She collapsed in her seat the girls following her as they took a bunch of paper work each and started working on it. The soldiers and guards were still eyeing each other cautiously, their guns slightly lowered as the girls conversed amongst themselves opening some snacks. Irene stood up handing some to the boys who smiled at her gratefully. She looked at the other pack in her hand walking over bravely and offering it to the other side. She waited patiently everyone turning to watch the scene, the guard giving in and taking what she had offered whilst offering a small thanks in return. Irene smiled walking back to her seat to get comfortable for the waiting game.
Hours had past, the signs of the morning apparent as most of them lay asleep on vacant beds or the floor. The girls were asleep atop of their paper work, besides Irene who remained wide awake with Jackson and the main body guard. The machines started to pick up their pace, Irene's chair scratching the floor as she pushed it back to run to him, the other waking up themselves at the small hindrance to their sleep. They sat up as the guard rushed over with Irene, relief spreading through everyone as Irene delivered the news that he was awake and everything seemed normal. She leaned back with a smile, the tiredness apparent in her eyes as it took a couple of more hours for the whole ordeal to be done with.
Irene breathed a sigh of relief as those around her cheered when they had finally left with a promise and thanks to irene and Jackson for ultimately allowing the prince to be saved. Irene was hugged by the girls, her eyes following Jackson as he left his squad, his back full of tension as he did. She sighed outwardly as Joy smirked. "Go do your wifey duties." She shook her head, shoving the younger girl slightly as they laughed at her, Irene walking after her husband.
She found him moments later leaning against a wall, his eyes closed. "Jack?" She asked, watching as his eyes flew open, beginning to walk away instantly. She called after him, as he stopped momentarily, Irene crashing into his back and wrapping her arms around his front tightly. "Rene let go." He said softly. "No." She mumbled out into his back. "Rene." He said warningly. His hands breaking her captivity and walking a few steps. "Why are you angry?" She asked softly, his eyes closing as he turned to her. "You really are clueless irene." He said as she waited patiently for an answer. "Don't you dare do that again. Don't you dare put your life on the line like that ever again. And don't you dare say that no one will fight to keep you alive because if it comes to it I will trade my life for yours-" she placed a hand on his lips shaking her head. "You will do no such thing." She scolded. "Then promise me you won't put me in a situation where I have to." She sighed, walking into his embrace as she nodded.
"I'll be careful." She whispered, feeling his arms wrap around her waist. "That's all I ask." He replied, his heart edging him to tell her about Jin, his mind deciding against it.
