Irene woke the following morning, her stomach in pain and her head thumping. Her hand rose to her forehead. She had contracted a fever. She cursed not wanting to leave the comforts of her duvet. She kicked it back moments later knowing that she needed to move, her body rolling as she shuffled out of bed. She swore as she lost her footing, tripping slightly. Great...she spoke mentally, the day already being started off in the worst way possible. She looked at the time her eyes widening. "Fuck." She muttered running for the bathroom. Ten minutes later she was looked at her reflection rushing to comb her hair down. She sighed grabbing her bag and heading out the door in one rushed movement. She ran past the kitchen dumping her stuff on the side as she poured herself some coffee. She hated this stuff but god she needed it. Her eyes meeting Jackson's as she looked back down. "I made breakfast." He said handing her a plate. "I don't have time to eat. I'll see you later." She made attempts to run, only for him to haul her back, guiding her to the kitchen stool. "You didn't eat anything last night either. You need to eat something." She looked at him sighing. Her hands grabbing the cutlery, her eyes on the clock as she shoved food into her mouth, her eyes closing out the taste. She moaned slightly hearing him chuckle. "I take it, that it's good." She nodded, downing the remains of her coffee, avoiding his eyes. "I thought you didn't like coffee." "I don't but I need it to survive." She stood dumping the plates in the sink. "I'll wash them later." He continued watching as she rummaged around his cupboards, hitting her head on the side of it. He winced as she swore loudly rubbing her head taking out the medication she wanted. He walked up to her, his hands touching her head. "Is it
Okay? The doctor hasn't lost any brain cells?" He questioned attempting to crack a joke. She shrugged of his arm, his hand falling slightly connecting with her cheek his eyes brows furrowing in confusion. His hand went back up to her forehead. "Gosh Irene your burning up." "I'm aware thanks." "Are you sure you want to go to work? Take a day off." "I can't. Look thanks for the fake concern but it's not necessary. I'm your wife on paper, that's it. Go to your whore or something, I can take care of myself." "Yeah I can see that...skipping meals, getting sick, fainting. Your doing a fantastic job of looking after yourself." She rolled her eyes. "As much as I would love to fight with you right now, I need to get to work so bye." "I'll drop you." "No need." "Irene get into the damn car." She rolled her eyes again. "You'll get there faster." She sighed opening the car door before he could do it for her. She watched him climb in the other side, wearing sunglasses. She rolled her eyes. Typical. He looked good though, in a black tank top, that highlighted his arms. She sighed turning away as he drove. As they edged nearer he handed her a box. "Here take these." "Jackson stop." "What?" He questioned. "Stop acting like you suddenly give a shit about me." "The point is I do." She rolled her eyes. "Pull up. I want to get out." He refused continuing to drive in silence.

As soon as they reached the car park she ran out the car, walking away as the wind brushed through her open hair. Jackson sighed, running after her as she put on her badges. "Irene." He called, jogging after her. "Take the medicine." She ignored him walking through the doors as he followed her. She continued to ignore him talking to the doctors and nurses as she passed. They acknowledged him as he smiled at them. "Irene-" he called. Only to be cut off again. "There's the best doctor in the world. We got trauma in theatre 3. We need you." "I'll be there in five." Joy nodded, as she looked at Jackson. "Is it bring your husband to work day?" Irene rolled her eyes. "I don't see Jinyoung?" She said. Joy's eyes narrowed. "Hush." "Go I'll be there." She shook her head eyeing Jackson one more time. He watched as Irene shoved her bag into the locker and took the stethoscope out before tying her hair up, "I like it when it's out." He called out, mentally slapping himself as he spoke without a filter. He watched as she froze. She turned away tying it up again. "Go home." She said abruptly before heading out choosing disregard his previous comment completely. Jackson sighed. The truth was he didn't want to leave her and so he watched her, he watched her do what she does best. Save lives. He watched the concentration in her features as she went back and forth, the hospital room picking up momentum as he watched her work endlessly, with no break in between. Jackson looked around seeing a mass trauma head in, Irene literally on top of the patient as she conducted CPR. A little boy crying his eyes out as he followed behind them lost. Jackson reached up. "Hey little man you can't go in there." "I want my dad." "I know. But the doctors can't work with you in there. You can stay with me okay?" He helped the little boy into the chair next to him, attempting to get his mind of the situation, but he saw it in his eyes, the constant flashing back and forth, the nervousness and fiddling with hands. Jackson grabbed his hand. "Shall I tell you something. You know that doctor there." He watched the boy nod. "She's my wife. And she's amazing. She'll save your dad. Trust her and me." He watched as the little boy moved to sit in his lap. "You are like my mom and dad?" He questioned cutely as Jackson chuckled whilst nodding. "Do you love her?" He asked. Jackson stared ahead, watching her. And he knew in that moment that deep down he had feelings. He looked at the little boy who sat waiting for an answer. Jackson smiled at him looking down. "That means you do." He giggled. Jackson laughed with him, his eyes looming back up to her form as she slumped against a machine. She was so tired and he could see the heart monitors not picking anything up. He prevented the little boy from turning to see, asking him questions so he would remain focused on him. Irene closed her eyes, before looking outside, to see the little boy in her husbands arms. Her eyes softened. "Let's try it again." "Irene-" "75 joules now." She cut in working again. She turned slightly looking into Jackson's waiting eyes, he offered her a smile as she turned adamant to save this persons life. An hour later and she managed it. She did it. She brought a dead man back to life. She finished off ripping the gloves off as she quickly wrote some notes down dishing out the last of the orders as she yawned slightly. The others present watched her in concern as she handed the clipboard back to joy. "Keep me updated." She nodded as she undid they face mask and gown dumping it in the bin. She looked out to see Jackson and the little boy together. A sudden dream invading her mind. A dream of them being parents. A dream that, that was their son. She shook herself from her thoughts approaching them. Jackson's eyes looking up to hers softening at the tiredness in her eyes. She smiled at the little boy. "Hey little man." She said as he beamed up at her. "Your dads safe now." She delivered watching him bounce out of Jackson's arms into hers. He wrapped his small arms around her, her eyes closing in fatigue and peace. She smiled ruffling his hair. "I need you to go with this nurse. They are going to take you to the room your dads in and ask you about your mum okay?" He nodded at her. "Your so brave." She said stroking his cheek lightly as he turned to Jackson giving him a big hug. "Thank you Jackson." He said cutely. "You were right about your wife. She's an angle." Irene struggled, a small smile gracing her features as the boy looked at her, it dropping as he turned away. Irene signalled the nurse to take him, her body falling into the chair as she looked at Jackson. "I thought I told you to go home." "I was, but that little boy...I didn't want to leave him." "That's not your job." She whispered rubbing her head. She sighed. "Thank you though. Your good with kids." He nodded. "No it's fine I wanted to stay. And yeah I've always wanted kids." Irene nodded. "With your whore right?" She stood abruptly, his hand grabbing hers. "Irene-" "I got to go." He stood up. His hand touching her forehead. "Shit your burning up." "I'm fine." She gritted out. "Irene there's a patient insisting to see you." She nodded withdrawing from him. "I'll see you later." She said as he called out for her. Irene followed the nurse down the corridor as she handed Irene the notes leaving seconds later. Irene opened the door taking a step in as she looked up her eyes losing the tiredness as Jin stood in front of her. He watched in amusement as she made attempts to run back out. "Now now now babe. Where do you think your going?" Irene looked at him in fear as he walked up to her. She watched as he wrapped a hand around her mouth "no screaming" he said, his eyes trailing down her form. She managed to free herself, her body running. She ran past all the nurses and doctors who called out to her, heading straight out the door. Jackson hearing the shouts, turned watching as she ran, someone running after her as the staff watched in confusion before flashing to concern again. "It's him again isn't it." He heard one speak. Jackson's phone suddenly blaring with messages. His eyes widened rushing after Irene.

Irene was slammed against a car, a hand pushing her hips back, as hungry lips claimed hers over and over again. She pushed she shoved, she kicked, she punched but he only moved after he had his fill. "Perfect." He whispered as he looked at her. "So that date. I'm giving you a day to think about it." Her eyes widened in fear as he winked at her, his lips crashing back down to hers before walking away. She breathed heavily, her form turning into Jackson's now wild eyes.
