Chapter one

Klike woke up. The rough bark poked into his back. He was an elf with spiky, green hair and pointed ears. Beside him was his dragon Felix. Felix had green scaled and sharp spikes on his back.

Klike got up. He brushed the bits of bark off of his shirt. After pulling on his boots he jumped unto Felix. Felix jumped into the air and spread his wings out. The air caught under them making him rise. They glided through the fresh morning air. Klike squinted and looked out at the horizon. Smoke was rising from the place called Guardians Haven. Ugh, They were having a meeting and he was late. Felix sped through the air, heading towards the smoke.

Soon Felix landed just outside of the stone circle. Around the circle were the other guardians. They all sat on stone chairs with the chiefs chair in the middle. Klike ran to his chair and sat down. He ran his finger through his hair.

"Greetings Klike." The chief said.

"Hi." He responded.

"Why are you late? I sent Gwayn to you yesterday."

"I never saw him."

"I never saw him either. The only reason I knew is because Dolfarn here told me." One of the others said.

"Hmm." The chief rubbed his chin.

Gwayn was the chiefs messenger. He delivered all the important news.

The chief banged his staff on the stone.

"Back to the meeting. I called you all here because I received some distressing news. There is a traitor somewhere in the woods. He has been telling The chief of Kumara many things that we wanted to keep to ourselves.

"Like what?" Dolfarn asked.

"They know about the gems hidden down in our mines. They also know that they hold ice powers. They may attack to get those. it will make them more powerful than the fire tribe."

The men and women around the circle cried out in anger. That was our most guarded secret. The ice tribe was a greedy tribe and they would probably strike.

"ENOUGH!" The chief cried.

The people stopped immediatly.

"I want this place guarded more than it was before. Klike you take first watch at noon go and get Baldenque to take your place. The chief commanded.

"Yes sir." I ran back to Felix.

Felix leaped into the air. He headed for the mountain range that ran through our territory. The tallest mountain had a stone tower near the top. That was the watch tower. Felix landed inside. The tower was tall and the sides were opened. There was only a three foot high wall around the interior. At each corner was an stone pillar.

I took my telescope out of my pocket and looked out across the sea. There glimmering in the middle was Kumara.

"MALGA!" Shouted Zorzon "Bring me my scepter!"

Zorzon hurried down the ice hall.

"MALGA!"

"Coming master."

Malga stepped into the hall.

"Here you are master." He bowed down before leaving.

Zorzon twirled the scepter in his hand. It was made of gold with an light blue diamond on top. Zorzon came to the throne room. He sat on his throne waiting for his battle commander Icebreath.

"Master."

Zorzon spun around and saw a small dark blue dragon land on the back of his throne.

"What are the news?"

"The warriors are prepared to fight. At your command we will make the battle lines." Icebreath responded.

"Don't make them yet. We will wait a while and see if they give us the diamonds for free because of the threat of war."

"Good strategy." Icebreath commented.

"Tell the warriors to go and train in the arena."

"Yes master."

Klike stared out of the tower looking for signs of trouble. Dragons, fairies and many other creatures bustled around in the town market haggling and bargaining with each other.

"Do you think that the ice element will attack?" Klike asked.

"I don't know if they will attack but they sure have guts if they attack us."

That was true. We were the second most powerful tribe out of all the elements, fire being the strongest. The wind tribe was way up in the clouds and we hardly ever saw them. The water tribe lived under the ocean way down by the bottom. Their leader had a hole that went through the ice of Kumara. He liked to have a friendly chat with Zorzon.

"If they attack this will be the third war in the history of the tribes. The ice tribe has been involved in all the wars that have occured. They sure are icentrice." Klike laughed.

"Get it? Icentric eccentric."

Felix laughed in a low rumbling voice. Klike playfully nudged him in the leg. Felix grunted in pain.

"Oh sorry, I forgot."

Klike removed the bandage that was wrapped around Felix's back leg. A long, nasty gash stretched from his thigh to his claws. It was purple around the edges with blue closer to the center.

"It still doesn't look like its healing." Klike said.

In a recent battle against the air tribe and the ice tribe Klike and Felix were battling a griffon. It had swooped down and pushed its claw into Felix's scaled. It flew downwards with its claw embedded in his flesh. The scar was still there and hadn't healed. It looked worse than it had before.

"We should visit the healer." Klike said.

He glanced up looking for another guardian to take his post. A purple dragon swooped down. It was the next guard.

"You can go." The guy shouted.

"Thanks." Klike replied.

He hopped unto Felix and they flew away. When they were gone a small blue dragon stepped out from behind the stone pillar. He quickly flew away towards Kumara.

  It was Icebreath!
