Battle Of Liberty
The girl and I were staring at eye-level, her brows were creased exactly like my expression. Gary came to the side as Lance had appeared by the other side as well.
"Emma meet, Bella."
"Bella meet, Emma."
"Nice to meet you, Emma." Bella, presumably extended her hand out to me.
"Same to you as well." I nodded slowly as I shook her hand.
"Well, I've got to run, see you around." She smiled heading in the other direction.
"See, doesn't she look like you." Lance portrayed as I scrunched my brows.
"Why are your eyes bloodshot?" Gary asked, as Lance stared at him giving him a look.
"I just had lack of sleep." I shrugged as I saw Gary and Lance exchange a look.
"I'm gonna go to my office." I started making my way towards the stairs, but a hand caught mine. I looked up to see it was Lilly.
"What is going on, Emma?" She asked staring at me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked as she let go of my hand.
"I came to give dad his letter that arrived today."
"I saw you yesterday, when you entered the house; you seemed a little annoyed. Do you want to talk about it?" Lilly asked furrowing her brows.
"Winchester, Captain needs those reports, pronto." Kendall called as I looked up.
"I need to go."
"Emma." Lilly cried as I turned to face her.
"Just don't be late for dinner." I turned around as we both dispersed ways. Truth to be told, I was focused on getting those reports done. If not the least, my day job means a lot to me. Despite my performance the other day.
I headed up the last step and ambled towards the hallway, passing by other officers, whilst making my way inside the big office.
I manoeuvred towards the desk where I started searching for half completed reports. I found them and began moving onto the unfinished chemicals. I placed on my black gloves and heading towards the machine to identify the chemical.
The machine was half working and half not working. I scrunched my brows in confusion and began searching for the problem, before slightly tapping the side of the machine with my gloved palm.
I took the test tube out and thought of an idea; I checked if the coast was clear. I started shaking the test tube with my new found power of speed as I stopped shaking it seeing the test tube all clear.
I smiled to myself before I placed it into the scanner and headed towards my desk to start typing up the last details of the previous chemical I had done.
A few moments later, I heard a beep sound and looked up from the screen. I got up and made my way to the machine as I too out the chemical and saw the results pop up on to the screen.
'Zinc Oxide'
I completed typing up the last details of the now finished chemical reports as I re-read it twice before printing out the results.
Waiting for the papers to print, I was thinking back to yesterday's hovering, how I floated up and saw the shocked faces of Freddy, Dr Fields, Chuck and Dr Flynn.
I turned back to see the papers had printed as I placed them in two brown paper files written with,
'REPORT FILE 1 #CASE 104'
'REPORT FILE 2 #CASE 104'
I made my way downstairs towards Captain's office to deliver these reports, hearing light conversations amongst officers and seeing a few criminals rounded up in handcuffs.
I knocked on the door to Captain's office and saw him wave his hand in to come in, I pushed the door and made my way to his desk.
"The reports you wanted, are completed." I handed him the reports as he stared at them.
"Great work, Emma." He praised. "Would you mind showing Mr Lake around and to his office, Haroden Department." I turned my head back to where Captain was facing; in front of him. There was a boy who looked the same age as me; he was sitting, in casual clothing.
He had blonde hair and penetrating grey orbs that could make anyone think what was so special about them. They were sparkly, somehow.
I scrunched my brows slightly turning back to face Captain, completely oblivious that he was sitting here.
"Sure thing." I slowly spoke.
"Well, Lake, hope you enjoy and serve the force with all your might. Welcome aboard." Captain shook his hand as 'Mr Lake' had stood up as well.
"Be a pleasure, captain." He gave a nod.
I started walking and opened the door, as I allowed 'Mr Lake' to go through as he did. We started heading in the direction of the first floor.
"I'm Emma."
"I'm Tyler."
"Nice to meet you." We both spoke in unison, making the corners of my lips turn slightly as I saw Tyler's had curved upwards.
"This is the first floor where most of the reception work happens." I explained passing by the reception staff.
"As well as being for the security who like to guard the station." I admitted.
We started moving further as I explained a few points where everything downstairs was, before moving to the second floor.
"This is where, the BAU happens, Behavioural Analysis Unit as well as some of the detectives work." I passed by tech analysts, a few officers laughing and talking, others answering calls, or discussing in conference rooms.
Moving onto the third floor where I usually have to go,
"This is the third floor, this is where most of the magic happens, since Captain seems to come here a lot to keep an eye on Detective Hall. Detective Hall is one of the police officers that are uhm, curious." I tried.
"This is where the SSA's, Harroden Department are usually at." There were busy officers, receptionists, talking, discussing, writing, training and I guess working.
"Training room, nice." Tyler nodded his head with his mouth curved to the side.
I headed towards the stairs as we headed towards my division.
"This is the forensic area. Where most of my work is done." I showed him my office.
"Cool office space." He admitted staring at the place filled with utter sincerity.
We walked outside my room, where other forensic scientists were working on something in their offices.
"That's the file room." I gestured to the room further down the hallway, heading up another flight of stairs.
"This is where most of the important and a few more analysts work." I further explained, before getting onto the elevator, clicking the '0' floor.
Waiting for the doors to shut as the elevator music began with a soft hum, I began zoning out, before looking to see the doors opening.
Stepping out of the elevator, I saw Tyler look around with curious eyes,
"Post-mortem room." He looked around with his hands stuffed into his pockets.
"This is where all of the autopsy scans happen. Over there are our top high skilled doctors and pathologists working here. With a few CSI's. A few interns learning over there." I gestured to the interns who were dressed in lab coats, gloves and writing down notes on clipboards.
"A bullet problem." Tyler nodded looking up slightly to see doctors looking quite intrigued.
"He's right, look where the wounds are." One of the interns nodded.
"Thanks..." They trailed off.
"Tyler."
"Thanks, Tyler." One of the pathologists nodded his head with a smile.
"No problem." He smiled as I waved at the pathologists, doctors and interns; earning a lot of waves back.
Heading back into the elevator, I clicked the third floor to which I had to show Tyler his new office. When the elevator doors opened, we both exited, heading in the direction of his office.
"This is your office." He opened the door, as he stared at the room, it was quite big and quite interesting.
"Like it?" I asked,
"Yeah, it looks interesting. Plus the view looks great." He was mesmerised by the breathtaking view outside.
"Oh and welcome to Empire League Force." I smiled at Tyler as he returned it back.
"Thanks," He paused. "Emma." He finished off with a smile.
"Your welcome." I nodded with a smile.
I headed towards my office and sat down only to hear the phone ring, I answered it and heard Lilianna's voice on the other hand. Captain Rifer's secretary.
"Captain wants everyone downstairs, in the main conference hall." I placed the phone down and used my speed to reach the third floor last step to see Gary just come out.
"Wonder what's so urgent?" Lance inquired as we all started heading towards the main conference hall where a few officers, analysts and pathologists sat.
Taking our seats, we all waited for a few more minutes to see a lot more officers piling into the room as Captain Rifer began.
"You all may wonder why I've gathered you here on such short notice, but tomorrow we have been invited for a special lunch with the CEO of Arithmetic Works. I wish for everyone to reach the Manny Joe Hotel sharp 11:30."
"That's all." He nodded his head as everyone started dispersing back to their offices.
"Looking forward to it?" Gary asked Ulrich,
"Every time I went to that hotel they'd always give me extra fruit. Not a clue why, but let me tell you. Their fruits are exotic and just a delight." He nodded with a smile.
I made my way to my office and sat down, contemplating what to do. I'd already gotten my work completed for the day, I felt my phone ring and I answered it.
"Hey Emma." I felt my breath hitch,
"I know you may hate me for everything I've done, but I miss you." I felt my eyes flicker slightly to the side.
I ended the call, placing it down and found myself already thinking about that dreadful day. I heard a knock and turned my head to see Tyler standing there.
"Come in." I called standing up.
"It's my break and I was wondering if it was your break, that you'd wanna go for lunch?" He asked slightly hesitating. I smiled at the blonde haired grey eyed boy.
"Sure, my break-." I turned my head to see the clock. "-just started now." He smiled as we both started walking together.
